17. A Study of Listening Diversity and Speaking for English Learning with Mobile Device Supports.

Abstract

This paper proposed a mobile learning system supporting listening diversity and speaking and investigates its effect on elementary school English learning. This study tried to help the EFL (English as Foreign Language) students who just can learn English through reading and writing in classes with stimulating their motivation to speak and listen by mobile devices. Therefore, we designed some learning activities with mobile devices to promote students speaking and to enable them to listen various speaking from others. We will investigate the correlation of students speaking and listening and their influence on learning. After experiment the result showed that doing some learning activities like listening diversity, listening times, listening involvement and speaking out have significant correlation with students΄ English learning achievement. Meanwhile, it was also found that our designed activities with mobile devices can stimulate students΄ motivation and facilitate their English speaking and listening. We suggested that English learning might refer to this study and design activities using mobile devices to encourage students to speak and listen to various high-achievement peers and make English learn much better. 18. Cybernation Process of Lidar System Detecting the Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide.

Abstract

Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 over the past century have altered significantly the climate over the global. Using Lidar system to detect the atmospheric carbon dioxide is a novel and efficient technique. The cybernation process of Lidar system accomplish the energy monitoring, acquiring controlling, photon counter controlling and signal disposal and display controlling. In this article, the auto-control processes are described in detail. Moreover, the principle of the Lidar controlling is introduced. We use the computer to manage the energy meter, select the appropriate filters and attenuation mirrors by controlling the step motor, run the software to acquire the amplified backscatter signals. At the same time, the cybernation process analyzes the recorded signal and displays the ultimate results. In addition, the cybernation process has been applied into the Lidar system and achieved successfully the concentration profiles of the atmospheric carbon dioxide. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
