A glossary of slang words relating to prison life is presented.

Definitions of 200 slang terms and phrases are presented. They were commonly used by young people from the 1960s through the 1990s. They include "Ain't," "Airhead" and "Babe." "Ain't" is a contraction of "am not" or "are not." "Airhead" refers to an empty-headed, self-absorbed person. "Babe" refers to a sweet-looking person of either sex.

Chapter 7 of the book "Talking Adolescence" is presented. The chapter focuses on the use of slang and swearing by young people. It describes the linguistic characteristics of slang and swearing and discusses why it may be particularly typical of adolescent speech. This is but a partial summary and we have only listed broad-based activities but even here choice of entries is quite subjective.

The television program's stories revolved around the floor-hugging antics of good-natured one-year-old Tommy Pickles and his crew of babies.
