Abstract

A definition of the term "adoptive immunotherapy" is presented. It refers to the transfer of either donor or recipient immune system cells that may have been cultured ex vivo for therapeutic benefit. This kind of therapy with donor lymphocyte infusion provides a means of augmenting the graft-versus-leukemia effect after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.
