This is the first comprehensive clinical introduction to using a time-limited mentalizing approach for working with children, ages 5 to 12, who experience emotional and behavioral problems, including anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties. Mentalization-based treatment (MBT) promotes a child's ability to make sense of their own mind, and the minds of others around them. The authors, an international team of clinician-researchers who are pioneering the MBT model with children, explore the significance of mentalization and describe in detail the process of conducting short-term (9-12 sessions) MBT for children, including problem assessment and case formulation in terms of mentalizing techniques, the therapist's stance, and treatment termination. The approach draws on traditional psychodynamic principles but integrates them with findings from attachment theory, the empirical study of mentalization, and features of other evidence-based approaches. This book includes a chapter-length case illustration and an appendix that lists measures of reflective functioning in children and their parents as well as validation articles.

There are many different ways in which Open Source ideas can be adopted by business, and influence the way in which companies do business. A number of different surveys have been conducted in different countries with the purpose of understanding the state of practice with respect to Open Source in companies. A number of different business models have been observed, ranging from the use of Open Source infrastructure products to basing a company’s entire business model on Open Source. In this paper we report on a study of the perceptions of Open Source and the uptake of open source products and development models in Swedish companies. We investigate this from the standpoint of stakeholders in those companies which have an expressed interest in Open Source, allowing a more in-depth analysis of the extent to which Open Source has influenced business thinking. From our analysis we find that uptake is much higher than reported in earlier studies, but is still concentrated in SMEs, consistent with the findings of previous studies. There is increased evidence of interest beyond the simple use of OS components at the (LAMP) infrastructure level. In particular, a significant proportion of the companies are in a symbiotic relationship with the OS community, supporting both through participation in existing projects and the release of new software under OS licences. Bilateral total maxillectomy is an uncommon surgical procedure. The indication is usually a large malignant tumor extending over the maxillary midline. Few reports can be found in the literature concerning surgical reconstructive procedures.1,2 Postsurgical prosthetic treatment is another subject that has seldom been discussed. The goal of maxillary reconstruction should always be for a prosthetic solution that makes it possible for the patient to eat, chew, swallow, and speak as normally as possible. Reconstruction of the temporomandibular articulation is one of the most demanding challenges in maxillofacial surgery. The goals include not only rehabilitation of the complex mechanism of the normal joint, but restoration of facial symmetry, occlusion, and mastication. As advanced temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease can lead to disturbances in these features and functions, this often constitutes major indications for arthroplastic procedures. The alleviation of pain is also of great importance, especially in the considerations for surgical treatment of degenerative joint disease. Regular radiologic examinations are essential in follow-up of bone grafts. Radiologic examination contributes to the evaluation of bone healing and complications such as infection or graft failure. It is possible to recognize signs of infection 2 weeks after surgery.1 Early graft failure can be diagnosed 1 month postoperatively.2 In nonvascular grafts, some degree of bone resorption regularly appears. Slight resorption, where the height of the graft diminishes 0% to 15% within the first 3 months, is a reliable sign of good healing. Massive resorption exceeding 30% always indicates graft failure. Type II topoisomerases readily remove knots from DNA (1). Removal of knots can be assayed by gel electrophoresis (1), and this provides a convenient assay for type II topoisomerase activity, even in crude extracts. Such assays have been useful in screening drugs that are suspected to inhibit type II topoisomerases. This chapter describes the isolation of knotted DNA from P4 phage.
