9. Quantum Emission and Its Application to Materials Dynamics.

Abstract

This chapter is divided into two parts. In the first part, we introduce quantum emission processes and their mechanisms by referring to our recent studies on the generation of electrons, ions, and X-ray obtained by irradiating solid materials with intense laser pulses. In the second part, we describe the results of time-resolved measurements of the ultrafast dynamics obtained by taking advantage of the quantum emission processes. We introduce two examples: one is the time-resolved measurements of the laser ablation processes through the electron radiography or the imaging, and the other one is the X-ray diffraction of laser-irradiated semiconductors.
