Eurochamp (Integration of European Simulation Chambers for Investigating Atmospheric Processes) is an Integrated Activity in the EU's Sixth Framework Program. One work package within EUROCHAMP covers the development, setup, operation, and improvement of a database on chamber experiments. This database is intended to promote collaboration between experimentalists at the chambers and modelers who want to test their models using chamber data. The database is now operational (since 2005) and contains 300 datasets in a unified format from 13 separate institutes. These datasets cover instrument inter-comparisons, gas phase chemistry and aerosol science. It also invites other parties to use the data and improve the usefulness of the database by identifying the needs for modelers and regulatory bodies. This integration of environmental chamber experiment records is expected to promote interactions between chamber users and enchance data for potential users. The ultimate aim of this effort has been to improve the information flow in order to strengthen the synergies between atmospheric scientists and thus advance atmospheric science in general. After an initial stage of design and implementation to bring the database to full operability, the focus is now on data usability. At present, the database is undergoing significant development aimed at incorporating new elements that will allow it to become a platform for some high demand services: instrument and chamber intercomparisons and the development and testing of chemical models of atmospheric processes.
