Based on a good understanding of the requirements of data modeling in next generation network management domain, evaluation on management data modeling languages becomes an essential way for the purpose of standardization to replace proprietary data models in the near future. This paper establishes a framework for evaluation to measure the capabilities of management data modeling languages in meeting those requirements by a set of criteria, which are modeling approaches, interoperability, readability, conformance, data representation, extensibility and security considerations. Usability of the proposed framework is validated by its application to compare existing management data modeling languages and the result shows that, SMIng is the language with best implementation of most criteria, while SMI and MOF/CIM are near SMIng capabilities. Bibliometric research is most often used in the field of library science; it has also wide applications in other areas. In this paper, a Bibliometrics-based methodology is proposed, which aims at improving the acquisition processes in the context of Technology Intelligence. Following the methodology, all the necessary information is firstly collected and filtered through information retrieval. Secondly and most importantly, bibliometric analysis is used to summarize the retrieved information and to figure out the possible technology indicators, which characterize the development of technologies and their potential benefits. After expert consultations, the final technology indicators are identified and assigned with indicator values. The methodology is concretely explained via a case study. The methodology is embedded in the Technology Management System, which was developed by the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. The goal of data mining is to automate the process of finding interesting patterns and trends from a given data. Association rule mining is a widely used technique that is useful in deriving meaningful rules from a given data. For a given dataset of sales transactions, association rule mining seeks to discover associations among transactions encoded in a database. Discovering large itemsets can be used as a solution for mining association rules. Existing methods for dealing with this may involve multiple passes of the database. We describe here an efficient method for the discovery of large itemsets from a set of transactions which will be a solution for the problem of mining association rules. The proposed method scans a database only once making a count on possible 2-itemsets from which only the 2-itemsets with a minimum support are used to form the closed directed graph which explores possible frequent large itemsets in the database. Number of critical network management tasks, including reactive and proactive resource management, event correlation, and root-cause analysis, load balancing, policy based routing requires knowledge of the up-to-date layer 3 topology of an IP network. Given the dynamic nature of today's IP networks, keeping track of topology information manually is a daunting (if not impossible) task. Thus, effective algorithms for automatically discovering network topology are necessary. Earlier work has typically concentrated on either (a) discovering logical (i.e., layer-3) topology, which implies that the connectivity of all layer-2 elements (e.g., switches and bridges) is ignored, or (b) proprietary solutions targeting specific product families. (c) Operational layer-3 topology discovery that gives Knowledge of the currently active network topology. This paper presents novel algorithms for discovering layer-3 topology in heterogeneous (i.e., multivendor) IP networks that is close to physical topology of network. Proposed algorithms rely on standard SNMP MIB information that is widely supported by modern IP network elements and require no modifications to the operating system software running on elements or hosts. At present, network information audit system is almost based on text information filtering, Text categorization is the basic technology of text information filtering. Pattern matching algorithms are very important for the rule based information audit system. It directly influence the accuracy and real-time performance of the system. The KMP and BM algorithms are introduced in this paper. Research is carried out to improve the BM algorithm and a better BM algorithm is proposed According to the situation that the system characters group is bigger and that characters of the pat tern are less, the thesis puts forward an improved string-matching algorithm.
