Chapter 2 of the book "Expulsión y Exilio de la Provincia Mexicana 1767-1820" is presented. It also considers the treatment of Jesuit novices, the seizure of Jesuit properties and the occupation of Jesuit-run schools throughout the Viceroyalty of New Spain.

Chapter V of the book "Iberian Pastoral Characters," by Barbara Mujica is presented. It explores Miguel de Cervantes' pastoral novel "La Galatea." It explores the theme of the novel which emphasizes love and marriage as the impetus and goal of every human life. It also explores La Galatea's significance in the development of Cervante's most famous work "Don Quijote."

A part of the book "Studies in Honor of Gustavo Correa," edited by Charles B. Faulhaber, Richard P. Kinkade and T. A. Perry is presented. It explores the foundations for a study of rhetoric in medieval Spain as well as the influence in the Iberian literatures. It also describes the materials, including the Library Catalogs, used to examine the nature and penetration of Latin rhetorical theory into Castile.

This section focuses on Eleno de Céspedes, known officially as the female Elena de Céspedes. The life story of Eleno has been preserved in the archives of the Inquisition of Toledo, Spain. Eleno, according to the authorities who ruled on the question of Eleno's body and gender, was not an important personage in the reign of Felipe II. Nevertheless, she did achieve some notoriety in her lifetime, earning a place in the annals of natural history on account of her claim that her body was transformed from female to hermaphrodite.
