The article discusses the application of the as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) principle in risk reduction strategy of nuclear safety in Great Britain. The principle adopts a holistic approach, taking the reduction in risk in totality as the overall objective and at the same time ensuring the most cost-effective reduction in constituent risks arising from either radiological or non-radiological causes.

Chapter 8 of the book "Explosion Hazards in the Process Industries," by Rolf K. Eckhoff is presented. This chapter outlines the methods for hazard and risk analysis in the process industries. It discusses some methods which are essential preliminaries to many safety studies. It also presents the steps consist in quantitative risk analysis (QRA).
