Abstract
Chapter 4 of the book "Beyond Liberal Democracy: Political Thinking for an East Asian Context," by Daniel A. Bell, is presented. It states that the lack of a truly universal foundation for human rights is not the primary obstruction for human rights organizations engaging in the East Asian region. It highlights the challenges met by the international human rights nongovernmental organizations (INGOs) during the flow of work including cultural conflicts, global poverty, and fund raising.
