Abstract

The article highlights the Olympics opening ceremony at the National Stadium in Beijing, China on August 8, 2008. One of the most stunning performances was the demonstration of printing. A huge scroll painting, which represented the ancient invention of papermaking, was rolled open at the center of the stadium. Gunpowder was represented in the event by the fireworks displays.
