Abstract: In this paper, we derive a new class of flexible threshold asymmetric Generalized Autoregression Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) models. We use this tool for analysis and modeling of the properties that are apparent in many financial time series. In general, the transmission of volatility in the stock market is time-varying, nonlinear, and asymmetric with respect to both positive and negative results. Given this fact, we adopt the method of fuzzy logic systems to modify the threshold values for an asymmetric GARCH model. Our simulations use stock market data from the Taiwan weighted index (Taiwan), the Nikkei 225 index (Japan), and the Hang Seng index (Hong Kong) to illustrate the performance of our proposed method. From the simulation results, we have determined that the forecasting of volatility performance is significantly improved if the leverage effect of clustering is considered along with the use of expert knowledge enabled by the GARCH model. Abstract: Using the rolling bicorrelation test statistic, the present paper compares the efficiency of stock markets from China, Korea and Taiwan in selected sub-periods with different price limits regimes. The statistical results do not support the claims that restrictive price limits and price limits per se are jeopardizing market efficiency. However, the evidence does not imply that price limits have no effect on the price discovery process but rather suggesting that market efficiency is not merely determined by price limits. But just as painters need to be proficient in technique and theory to produce great masterpieces, the next generation of Americans will likely require a solid grounding in mathematics and science for their creativity to be maximized in a world increasingly dependent on technological advances for prosperity and security. The challenge is not to simply increase the number of students graduating with college degrees in the STEM fields; it is to lift the overall understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics among the rest of the population as well. As the majority of Americans do not earn a postsecondary degree, it is essential that students be given this solid grounding during the elementary and secondary years. While establishing the expectation that all students complete challenging mathematics and science coursework is a good step, it cannot be the only step. Rowin Tsang's group, which meets under a paper map of China divided into tea regions, represents the new generation of tea connoisseurs in Hong Kong--a small but growing number of residents who take their tea very seriously. The trend is spreading across Asia: Taiwan, too, has seen a proliferation of high-end tea salons. At the heart of the trend seems to be a greater sense of pride in tea as a truly Asian drink. While coffee culture has captured the imagination of young Asians in particular, it comes in a Western package; tea is a drink they can truly call their own. In ancient China, tea played a key role in social life. Tea appreciation was associated with a well-to-do lifestyle and defined what it was to be a cultured person. As the arts flourished during the Ming dynasty, so did the passion for tea. Growing wealth has also fueled the boom.
