This paper proposes an indicator for measuring the level of commitment to academic journals. The indicator is demonstrated on a sample of core LIS‐journals. By monitoring authorship patterns over a 20‐year period, it is shown that some journals have a higher frequency of returning authors than others, consequently showing a larger degree of community commitment. Manufacturing enterprises always generate, acquire, and transform large amount of information which flows across every link of their innovation process and value chain. Information flow is one of the basic conditions for information to be reproduced, utilized and value added. Unreasonable paths and transmission methods of information flow will lead to problems such as poor flow efficiency, low information sharing and even information silos, which will further restrict the R&D innovation and service upgrade. Optimizing information flow mechanisms and paths is a vital part for improving the innovation capability of manufacturing enterprises. In order to reflect the interactions, flow‐path differences and nonlinear laws among manufacturing enterprises' innovation units and to reveal relations between information‐flowing efficiency and innovation capabilities, the paper divides innovation activities of manufacturing enterprises into three phases, such as information acquisition, information transformation and information value addition based on the theory of innovation value chain, and puts forward a mathematical model of information absorption and transformation to ultimately reveal the mechanisms for information flow across inside and outside units. Further, the paper takes a non‐linear function for absorptive capacity based on level of experiential knowledge, continuous R&D intensity, and agent relation strength to quantify the information absorption and transformation process and takes index of innovation information amount and cumulative information amount to calculate innovation abilities and measure information value addition. This study is to investigate how citing behavior for a scientific article changes over time. A highly cited article is chosen to collect citation content from its 902 citing articles. Natural language processing and content analysis are adopted to encode citation content and complete the statistics of citation behavior. Citation content analysis indexes including citation mention, length, and location, are used to describe the changes of citation behavior over time. The experimental results show that there is correlation between citing time with most of the indexes and that citation mention and citation length are declining while the number of the citation co-occurrences is increasing. This study analyzes the relation between author affiliation reputation and uncitedness. We use 2015 U.S. News Best Global University Subject rankings as representative of affiliation reputation and collect uncited papers from 24 journals in six subjects from WoS. Preliminary correlation analysis results indicate that: (1) there is a significant correlation between affiliation reputation and uncitedness. (2) their relation is negatively and weakly correlated. And secondary data collection and correlation analysis proved that relation between affiliation reputation and uncitedness vary in different subjects. The findings of this study would attract scientists' attention to avoid Matthew Effect and focus more on research papers rather than reputation when citing references. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes a network analytic-based method in order to better facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue at conferences. Using a network composed of papers and subject headings of the 2013 ASIS&T Conference Proceedings, its structure is first analyzed by applying a community detection algorithm and two major centrality measures: betweenness and degree centralities. A combination of degree centrality measurements, along with a qualitative evaluation of the results of those measurements, form a novel method that could potentially connect collections whose content may have been previously "siloed" into separate tracks. The paper examines the concept of participation in co‐design practices with children and youth. Rooted in Participatory Design and Participatory Action Research frameworks, the paper draws from multi‐disciplinary literature to survey existing definitions of the relationships, roles, and types of human interactions in participatory co‐design. The paper advocates for the active role of children and youth in the co‐design process and presents models of youth participation. The paper highlights the importance of understanding and clearly communicating various degrees of participation, with the ultimate goal of empowering youth and involving them in brainstorming, planning, decision‐making, and interpretation stages of the design process. ABSTRACT This poster presents how Chinese researchers use research information management (RIM) systems (e.g., ResearchGate, Google Scholar). Findings include a typology of activities in which Chinese researchers engage in RIM systems. The findings indicate that obtaining English papers and connecting with scholars from other countries motivate Chinese researchers to use specific RIM systems, while the language barrier and the Great Firewall of China discourage them to use or engage in those systems. Based on publications in Chemistry in 2015, this paper investigated the citation impact on domestic and foreign scholarly communities of Chinese and US publications, and to what extent does such impact relate to international collaboration and government funding. First‐ or corresponding authorship in international collaboration is defined as dominance and is taken into consideration. Citations to publications are designated as domestic citations (Chinese or US citations), partner citations or other citations according to overlap of countries of citing and cited publications. Significant difference exists in the two countries. Most citations of Chinese publications are from domestic and partner countries, with domestic citations being the mainstay. In contrast, US papers receive more other citations than domestic or partner citations, and citations from partner countries contribute significantly. US papers have higher global impact than those of China. High domestic citation propensity is associated with non‐international collaboration, dominance of focal country in international collaboration, and national funding support. Such phenomenon is more pronounced in Chinese papers. In other words, citation impact of Chinese publications is more limited in domestic community, whereas that of the US is more global.
