This paper deals with Wallace Stevens's first collection of poetry, Harmonium, in light of Heidegger's philosophy, with a particular emphasis on Da-sein as the place of negativity. The focus is particularly on Heidegger's later philosophy, where he defines Man as the juncture where the four constitutive elements (earth, sky, divinities, and mortals) converge to let Da-sein appear as the futural authentic animal whose Being matters to him as his distinctive mark. Stevens's poetry in Harmonium displays an experimental development along the same lines. The collection consists of poems dealing with the effect that the prospects of death and finitude have on its protagonists. Stevens achieves authentic protagonists who accept the nihilating power of death in order to save themselves from any form of social, poetic, and philosophical closure. This is significant because Stevens conceives a creative potential that not only runs counter to the romantic nostalgia for a return to an innocent past, but also openly embraces the idea of finitude as the only way out of any logocentric and metaphysical forms of thinking. Soul Circles presents a series of twenty-four mandalas produced by Jeremy Jensen during a period of analysis, with short commentaries by Jensen and his analyst, David Rosen. In psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and philosophy, "prediction" is widely recognized as central to cognition. Mental time travel into the future is the form of cognitive prediction ("prospection") most intimately connected to adaptive human functioning. It underpins explicit goal-setting, collaborative planning, and the pursuit of creative innovation. Theories focusing on prediction have a long intellectual history. Broadly construed, they offer perhaps the best opportunity yet for a global picture of neural and cognitive functioning. Exploiting this opportunity requires building bridges between prediction--as instantiated in perception or reinforcement learning--and full-fledged mental time travel into the future. The surge of recent work on these topics indicates consensus about the promise of prospection for understanding diverse aspects of cognition, but subfields still lack theoretical synthesis. Interest in Jung has never been confined to analysts. The anthologyJung in Effect: Jung’s Ideas in the Wider Worldintroduces readers to his influence on society and culture and to key ideas such as Jungian archetypes and synchronicity. ‘Woundscapes’ is an exhibition collaboratively produced by 11 anthropologists and artists from different countries, whose work focuses on the reproduction of particular gazes, stereotypes and individual memories that are all connected to respective diasporic dynamics. The works presented at the exhibition attempted to map different forms of dealing with, understanding and expressing ‘suffering’. The works examined individual and collective trajectories of ‘suffering’ and related ‘cure’ strategies in the healthcare market of Greater Lisbon, and different forms and tactics of legitimisation, resistance or reconceptualisation of social positions. The aim of this article is to 1) present the conceptual design of the research underpinning the exhibition; 2) explore the curatorial process of attempting to elude the very distance between object and representation, between ‘inside’ and ‘outside’, and, thus, to elude the ever-encompassing metaphor of the north–south divide, to give visitors the opportunity to creatively experience different paths of exclusion and integration, of distancing and participation; and 3) reflect on the state of liminality created by the exhibition, undermining the conventional categorical distinction between ethnography and art, and causing an interference in the established circuits of academia, and in those of contemporary art.
