A biography of Joseph D. Bloom, MD, is presented. He was born on April 3, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York and studied at Erasmus Hall High School. He then studied at Columbia College as a premedical student and took minimum required courses. He became the fourth psychiatrist to enter private practice in Alaska. He married to Jacqueline (Jackie) Lahn. Joe has been involved in every facet of public psychiatry, including community, hospital, and transcultural services.
