Citizen participation in smart city projects is currently a hot issue, but there is a lack of quantitative research exploring this topic. Furthermore, little is known about how a sense of responsibility drives their participation in smart cities. Therefore, this paper aims to empirically explore how a sense of responsibility affects the willingness to participate in smart cities from the perspective of citizens. Based on the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R), a research model was constructed to explore the effect of information publicity, government transparency and subjective norms on the sense of responsibility, which leads to citizen participation intention. A total of 283 survey data were collected from Jinan, China, and structural equation models (SEMs) were used to test the relevant hypotheses. The results show that information publicity has a positive effect on citizen participation intention. Government transparency and subjective norms both have direct and significant impacts on citizens' sense of responsibility, which in turn has a positive effect on their participation intention. The moderation effect of information quality is not significant. This study contributes to the research stream on smart city participation. Not only does it contribute to further understanding the main factors that affect residents' participation in the construction of smart cities, but it also contributes to the implementation of bottom-up strategies and practices for smart city construction. As education is increasingly going online, propelled by the COVID-19 outbreak, how to build student engagement has become critically important, and it is, therefore, necessary to explore the motivators and barriers to student engagement comprehensively. Given the nature of an online learning environment, this study specifically focused on security and privacy concerns as the major issues that may be restricting student engagement. Based on the data collected from 296 students studying at Y University, South Korea, this study reported the results of the structural model test supporting that perceived usefulness and peer behavior directly influence real-time online class participation intention. This study further showed the negative impact of privacy concern and security concern on the perceived ease of participation, which consequently influences RTOC participation intention through perceived usefulness and peer behavior. As technology-enabled contactless activities, including online education, have become new normal, this study's approach will provide insightful implications that help encourage student participation and active learning. The aim of this study is to explore social media marketing activities (SMMAs) and their impact on consumer intentions (continuance, participate, and purchase). This study also analyzes the mediating roles of social identification and satisfaction. The participants in this study were experienced users of two social media platforms Facebook and Instagram in Pakistan. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents. We used an online community to invite Facebook and Instagram users to complete the questionnaire in the designated online questionnaire system. Data were collected from 353 respondents, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. Results show that SMMAs have a significant impact on the intentions of users. Furthermore, social identification mediates the relationship between social media activities and satisfaction, and satisfaction mediates the relationship between social media activities and the intentions of users. This will help marketers how to attract customers to develop their intentions.
