Pile-supported wharf (PSW) is widely used in the deep-water port engineering construction, most of which are located in liquefiable ground. The effect of wave action on the working performance of PSW in liquefiable ground cannot be ignored, but few studies have been reported. This study performs the wave flume test of PSW in liquefiable ground considering the soil-structure-wave interaction. This test really reproduces the operating condition of PSW, and explores the internal response difference of wharf structure under wave. The influence of wave height on dynamic response of the PSW system is discussed systematically. The result shows that the acceleration and displacement of the PSW deck gradually increase first and finally remain relatively stable with the increase of wave action. The hydrodynamic pressure and deformation of each pile in pile group are obviously different, and the response variation is related to the pile position. The pore pressure of the soil layer in the free field and around the pile decreases with the increase of depth, and the existence of the pile group can reduce the pore pressure in the soil layer around the pile, and increase the acceleration of the soil layer. The effect of wave height on the soil layer decreases with the increase of depth. The above results can provide reference for the similar PSW test under wave and the support for the design and wave protection of PSW.

Recent research results show that great progress has been made in improving the generation rate of physical random numbers. However, there are still some defects such as complex generation process and large volume. To solve these problems, this paper theoretically proposes a scheme for generating random numbers using mode hopping of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) with optical feedback. The VCSEL is perturbed by the optical feedback to generate the mode hopping. The square wave signal then modulates the injection current, periodically restarts the VCSEL to switch from the non-emitting state to the mode hopping state, and finally outputs a random pulse sequence to realize the random number generation. The results of this paper show that unbiased random numbers with verified randomness can be generated continuously at a rate of the order of Gbit/s. Our scheme eliminates the need for optoelectronic conversion and post-processing operations, simplifing the current random number generation structure, which has the potential to realize a low-cost photonic integrated random number generator.

Several studies reported that the expression of SIRT1 was associated with the clinical features of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but the function remains inconsistent. We conducted this study to illustrate the clinical value of SIRT1 expression in the early diagnosis and prediction of prognosis of ESCC. In this study, PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were searched by two independent researchers and STATA14.0 software was used to conduct meta-analysis. The odds ratio with 95% confidence interval was used to estimate the pooled effect. Egger’s test and Begg’s funnel were used to assess publication bias. Sensitivity analysis was used to evaluate the reliability and stability of meta-analysis results. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, six studies were enrolled, including 811 cases of ESCC. Results of the meta-analysis indicated that SIRT1 was overexpressed in ESCC and the SIRT1 expression was closely related to the clinicopathological features of ESCC, such as tumor infiltration, tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage, and lymph node metastasis. In the survival analysis, high expression of SIRT1 represented a poor prognosis in ESCC patients. Our study demonstrated that SIRT1 was overexpressed in ESCC, and it might be a potential biomarker for progress of ESCC.

In order to investigate the effects of selenium (Se) against cadmium (Cd) toxicity, 180 healthy grass carp were separated into three groups and fed diets containing 0.147 (control group), 0.562, and 1.044 mg/kg of selenium Yeast throughout 60 days. In grass carp livers, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, antioxidant enzyme activities, and apoptosis-related gene expression were examined. As a result of acute exposure to cadmium, MDA content decreased significantly. With time, catalase (CAT), total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities changed. The relative transcript levels of heavy metal scavenging genes abcc2 and mt2 were significantly reduced. The relative levels of expression of jnk, bax, caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 in apoptosis-associated factors were significantly elevated after cadmium exposure. Selenium-supplementation downregulated the expression of apoptosis-related factors. As compared to the control group, liver cells supplemented with selenium had a significantly lower apoptotic index. Comprehensive analysis showed that dietary selenium supplementation significantly attenuated cadmium-induced peroxidative damage and apoptosis in liver by increasing GSH-Px activity, and that cadmium toxicity could be alleviated by the addition of yeast selenium. BACKGROUND: With the widespread use of low-dose spiral computed tomography (LDCT) and increasing awareness of personal health, the detection rate of pulmonary nodules is steadily rising. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the success rate and safety of two different models of Hook-Wire needle localization procedures for pulmonary small nodule biopsy. METHODS: Ninety-four cases with a total of 97 pulmonary small nodules undergoing needle localization biopsy were retrospectively analyzed. The cases were divided into two groups: Group A, using breast localization needle steel wire (Bard Healthcare Science Co., Ltd.); Group B, using disposable pulmonary nodule puncture needle (SensCure Biotechnology Co., Ltd.). All patients underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for nodule removal on the same day after localization and biopsy. The puncture localization operation time, success rate, complications such as pulmonary hemorrhage, pneumothorax, hemoptysis, and postoperative comfort were observed and compared. RESULTS: In Group A, the average localization operation time for 97 nodules was 15.47 ± 5.31 minutes, with a success rate of 94.34%. The complication rate was 71.69% (12 cases of pneumothorax, 35 cases of pulmonary hemorrhage, 2 cases of hemoptysis), and 40 cases of post-localization discomfort were reported. In Group B, the average localization operation time was 25.32 ± 7.83 minutes, with a 100% success rate. The complication rate was 29.55% (3 cases of pneumothorax, 15 cases of pulmonary hemorrhage, 0 cases of hemoptysis), and 3 cases reported postoperative discomfort. According to the data analysis in this study, Group B had a lower incidence of puncture-related complications than Group A, along with a higher success rate and significantly greater postoperative comfort. CONCLUSIONS: The disposable pulmonary nodule puncture needle is safer and more effective in pulmonary small nodule localization biopsy, exhibiting increased comfort compared to the breast localization needle. To analyze the relevant research publications on infectious disease nursing in China to understand the current research status of infectious disease in nursing. Methods: Retrieve relevant literature on infectious disease in nursing from the establishment of the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Database, and Wanfang Database until May 10, 2021. Conduct bibliometric analysis using CiteSpace software. Key words were analyzed using cluster analysis. Results: A total of 4693 relevant literature on infectious disease research in nursing care were included in this study. The overall number of publications on infectious disease research in nursing showed an increasing trend, with a peak in 2010. There were 324 papers funded by scientific research funds, mainly from provincial-level fund projects. The core journal with the most published articles was Nursing Research. The research on infectious disease in nursing mainly focused on various aspects of infectious disease in nursing and infection control. CiteSpace cluster analysis of keywords showed that a total of six clusters were formed: infectious diseases, infectious disease care, health education, mental health, infectious disease nurses, and etiology. After 2015, high-mutation keywords included "quality nursing" and "infection control". Conclusion: Chinese research on infectious disease research in nursing closely follows clinical reality and has developed rapidly. Currently, research focuses on infectious disease research in nursing and infection control. Future research trends will further broaden the depth and breadth of the research, enhance research on infection control and quality nursing, and improve the breadth and depth of the research. Dansyl chloride has been widely used in metal ion recognition as a fluorescent sensing molecule. The interaction between fluorescent probes and metal ions is summarized, and the research progress in the structural design of dansyl group receptors in the field of metal ion fluorescent probes since 2010 is discussed. Its sensing mechanism involves intramolecular induced photoelectron transfer, charge transfer, dimethylamino deprotonation/protonation, formation of monomer-excitation complex, chelate-enhanced fluorescence transfer, complexation reaction, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, and other ones. The rules of the fluorescent responses of dansyl group under various mechanisms are also discussed, such as fluorescence quenching induced by intramolecular charge transfer and chelation triggered fluorescence enhancement. Background: Previous studies have shown that ALDH2 and ADH1B genes may be associated with alcohol metabolism and the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), with inconsistent results. This meta‐analysis aimed at comprehensively assessing the associations between ALDH2 and ADH1B polymorphisms and the risk of ESCC to synthesize and clarify the evidence. Methods: We calculated summary estimates of the associations between four genetic variants (rs671 and rs674 in ALDH2, and rs1229984 and rs1042026 in ADH1B) and the ESCC risk across 23 publications in the additive model and allelic model. Venice criteria, Bayesian false discovery probability (BFDP), and false‐positive reporting probability (FPRP) were used to assess the strength of epidemiological evidence. Heterogeneity among studies was evaluated by using the Higgin's I2 statistic, and publication bias was assessed by using funnel plots and Begg's test. A Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to determine the causal association between alcohol intake and esophageal cancer risk. Data from the HaploReg v4.1 and PolyPhen‐2 were analyzed for functional annotations. Results: Of the four genetic variants, rs671 of ALDH2 was associated with a significantly reduced risk of ESCC (OR: 0.60, 95% CI: 0.50–0.73), whereas rs1229984 of ADH1B was associated with a significantly increased risk (2.50, 95% CI: 1.70–3.69) in the additive model. In the allelic model, the variant rs1229984 of ADH1B also increased the risk of ESCC (OR: 1.50; 95% CI: 1.21–1.87). The result for the variant rs671 was considered as strong epidemiological evidence. Functional annotations identified that the four variants were related to the enhancer histone marks and motif changes. The other two variants were not associated with the ESCC risk (rs674 of ALDH2 OR: 1.22, 95% CI: 0.71–2.12; rs1042026 of ADH1B OR: 1.28, 95% CI: 0.52–3.14) in the additive model. The MR analysis did not find a causal effect of alcohol on the esophageal cancer risk. p-Hydroxyacetophenone (p-HAP) has been used as a preservative in cosmetics, however, its new efficacy has rarely been reported. Herein, the soothing and oil control efficacy of p-HAP was evaluated by cellular in vitro method to provide new efficacy basis for application in cosmetics. The content of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) was determined in LPS-induced RAW264.7. The lipid content was determined in testosterone-induced SZ95. The results revealed that p-HAP could significantly inhibit these pro-inflammatory cytokines, including NO, TNF-α and IL-6 (P < 0.01). In addition, 0.05 mg/mLp-HAP could inhibit the formation of lipid droplets in human sebocytes, with inhibition rate of 17.64% (P < 0.001). These findings might imply the potential application of p-HAP as a functional ingredient in cosmetics, which might have soothing and oil control efficacy according to the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines and lipid content. Augmenting the vascular supply to generate new tissues, a crucial aspect in regenerative medicine, has been challenging. Recently, our group showed that calcium phosphate can induce the formation of a functional neo-angiosome without the need for microsurgical arterial anastomosis. This was a preclinical proof of concept for biomaterial-induced luminal sprouting of large-diameter vessels. In this study, we investigated if sprouting was a general response to surgical injury or placement of an inorganic construct around the vessel. Cylindrical biocement scaffolds of differing chemistries were placed around the femoral vein. A contrast agent was used to visualize vessel ingrowth into the scaffolds. Cell populations in the scaffold were mapped using immunohistochemistry. Calcium phosphate scaffolds induced 2.7–3 times greater volume of blood vessels than calcium sulphate or magnesium phosphate scaffolds. Macrophage and vSMC populations were identified that changed spatially and temporally within the scaffold during implantation. NLRP3 inflammasome activation peaked at weeks 2 and 4 and then declined; however, IL-1β expression was sustained over the course of the experiment. IL-8, a promoter of angiogenesis, was also detected, and together, these responses suggest a role of sterile inflammation. Unexpectedly, the effect was distinct from an injury response as a result of surgical placement and also was not simply a foreign body reaction as a result of placing a rigid bioceramic next to a vein, since, while the materials tested had similar microstructures, only the calcium phosphates tested elicited an angiogenic response. In order to verify Gough P.S and Guo stress formula and its accuracy in calculating propellant bed stress under quasi-static compaction, the paper adopted electronic universal testing machine to perform quasi-static compaction on propellant beds of two different diameters, and based on experimental data, the paper obtained stresses of the two beds in the process of compression. The paper used stress formula to calculate stresses of the two propellant beds respectively, based on the propellant bed feed and experimental configuration, and the results show that, during initial propellant compaction phase, the calculations are greater than experimental results, when it comes to certain compaction phase, the calculations of the formula are smaller than experimental results; the calculations of the formula are slightly smaller than experimental results.

CO2 hydrogenation to CH3OH via heterogeneous catalysis is one of the most promising and available approaches for mitigation of anthropogenic CO2 issues. In this work, thermodynamic equilibria of CO2 to methanol were compared with experimental results at given conditions using a commercial Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst for CO hydrogenation to methanol. It was found that, the high pressure, low temperature, and high H2/CO2 ratio are favorable to methanol synthesis from CO2. Furthermore, the kinetic data were measured with an isothermal integral reactor under temperature between 160 and 240 °C, lower than that for CO hydrogenation to methanol reaction. Based on the single-active site and dual-active site LH mechanisms, both kinetic models can achieve full illustration of the influence of the operating conditions and the mechanisms. According to comparative analysis of the error variances of model correlations and the adsorbate coverages on the active sites, the dual-site mechanism identified to be superior to the single-site one for methanol synthesis from CO2 feedstock. The abdomen of a honeybee is a blueprint for bioinspired mechanical design because of its movement flexibility and compactness. However, the abdominal muscles closely related to the movement flexibility mechanism have not been fully identified, limiting the potential biological advantage of their use in bionic mechanism design. In this study, we reveal the muscle distribution of the complete muscular driving unit in a honeybee abdomen using stereoscopy and scanning electron microscopy, and the muscle distribution was effectively verified using X‐ray tomography. A novel equivalent unit mechanism (EUM) was then proposed and the kinematic analysis indicated that the extension ratio, bending angle, and swing angle of the EUM reached 9.36%, 1.22°, and 4.43°, respectively. The deformation ability of the EUM was consistent with the movement of the abdomen, confirming the movement flexibility. Background: The value of the lymphocyte-to-C-reactive protein (CRP) ratio (LCR) in early breast cancer (BC) is unclear. We explored the correlation between the LCR and survival of patients with early BC and established effective LCR-based prognostic signatures for predicting prognosis. Methods: In this retrospective study, we randomized 623 patients with early-stage BC diagnosed in December 2010 to October 2012 at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center to training and verification datasets. The median follow-up of all patients was 109 months. The survival differences were calculated by Kaplan–Meier method using the Log rank test. For overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS), the independent factors in the training dataset were identified using univariate and multivariate Cox analyses, in which two-tailed P-values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Based on this, we respectively constructed novel signatures for survival prediction and validated the efficiency of signatures through the concordance index (C-index), calibration and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves in both datasets. Results: The LCR, lymphatic vessel invasion (LVI), progesterone receptor (PR) status, and Ki67 index were independent prognostic factors of OS. And the LCR and LVI are associated to DFS too. High LCR was associated with better OS and DFS. We constructed the prediction signatures based on those independent prognostic factors and calculated the risk scores. Patients in the training dataset with higher risk scores had significantly worse prognosis (P < 0.001). The signature had excellent discrimination capacity, with an OS C-index of 0.785 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.713– 0.857] and 0.750 (95% CI: 0.669– 0.832) in the training and verification datasets, respectively. The time–ROC curves also suggest accurate prediction by the signature. Conclusion: The LCR was a significant prognostic predictor of OS and DFS in early BC.
