BACKGROUNDPrehospital plasma improves survival in severely injured patients transported by air ambulance. We hypothesized that prehospital plasma would be associated with a reduction in immune imbalance and endothelial damage.METHODSWe sampled blood from 405 trauma patients enrolled in the Prehospital Air Medical Plasma (PAMPer) trial upon hospital admission (0 hours) and 24 hours post admission across 6 U.S. sites. We assayed samples for 21 inflammatory mediators and 7 markers associated with endothelial function and damage. We performed hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) of these biomarkers of the immune response and endothelial injury. Regression analysis was used to control for differences across study and to assess any association with prehospital plasma resuscitation.RESULTSHCA distinguished two patient clusters with different injury patterns and outcomes. Patients in cluster A had greater injury severity and incidence of blunt trauma, traumatic brain injury, and mortality. Cluster A patients that received prehospital plasma showed improved 30-day survival. Prehospital plasma did not improve survival in cluster B patients. In an adjusted analysis of the most seriously injured patients, prehospital plasma was associated with an increase in adiponectin, IL-1β, IL-17A, IL-23, and IL-17E upon admission, and a reduction in syndecan-1, TM, VEGF, IL-6, IP-10, MCP-1, and TNF-α, and an increase in IL-33, IL-21, IL-23, and IL-17E 24 hours later.CONCLUSIONPrehospital plasma may ameliorate immune dysfunction and the endotheliopathy of trauma. Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) hold significant promise for large‐scale energy storage. While considerable strides have been made in modifying separators, the challenge of developing dendrite‐free, corrosion‐resistant, and cost‐effective separators for achieving extended cycling performance of Zn anodes persists. In light of this, a TiO2 coating separator to mitigate interfacial corrosion and passivation reactions, thereby facilitating high‐performance ZIBs is designed. This study delves into the influence of the loading amount and crystal phase of the TiO2 coating layers on separator modification. Zn symmetric cells employing the anatase TiO2‐modified glass fiber (A‐TiO2@GF) separator demonstrate superior Zn2+ ion transport kinetics in a mild ZnSO4 electrolyte, ensuring sustained long‐term stability and uniform Zn deposition. Furthermore, the reduced hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity of A‐TiO2 coatings curbs H+ ion migration, minimizing interfacial corrosion and HER. Consequently, the assembled Zn||CaV8O20 zinc‐ion full cells demonstrate outstanding long‐term durability and impressive specific capacity, boasting a discharge capacity of 142 mAh g−1 after 1000 cycles. Due to safety problems caused by the use of organic electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries and the high production cost brought by the limited lithium resources, water-based zinc-ion batteries have become a new research focus in the field of energy storage due to their low production cost, safety, efficiency, and environmental friendliness. This paper focused on vanadium dioxide and expanded graphite (EG) composite cathode materials. Given the cycling problem caused by the structural fragility of vanadium dioxide in zinc-ion batteries, the feasibility of preparing a new composite material is explored. The EG/VO2 composites were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method, and compared with the aqueous zinc-ion batteries assembled with a single type of VO2 under the same conditions, the electrode materials composited with high-purity sulfur-free expanded graphite showed more excellent capacity, cycling performance, and multiplicity performance, and the EG/VO2 composites possessed a high discharge ratio of 345 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1, and the Coulombic efficiency was close to 100%. The EG/VO2 composite has a high specific discharge capacity of 345 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 with a Coulombic efficiency close to 100%, a capacity retention of 77% after 100 cycles, and 277.8 mAh g−1 with a capacity retention of 78% at a 20-fold increase in current density. The long cycle test data demonstrated that the composite with expanded graphite effectively improved the cycling performance of vanadium-based materials, and the composite maintained a stable Coulombic efficiency of 100% at a high current density of 2 A/g and still maintained a specific capacity of 108.9 mAh/g after 2000 cycles. To improve the complexity and low catalytic performance and reduce the high cost of the traditional electrode preparation process for the sodium borohydride electro-oxidation reaction (BOR), in this work, a self-supported and efficient electrode material grown on nickel foam (CoNi/Co3O4/NF) was successfully designed using a simple hydrothermal synthesis method accompanied by the electrodeposition process. Benefiting from the three-dimensional nanoarray structure of CoNi/Co3O4/NF and the uniform distribution of Co and Ni modulating active sites by electrodeposition, the catalytic activity towards NaBH4 exhibits high efficiency. CoNi/Co3O4 exhibits excellent catalytic performance (up to 2157 mA cm−2 in 2 mol L−1 NaOH and 0.3 mol L−1 NaBH4), a high electrochemically active surface area (62.5 cm−2), and a low activation energy (15.56 kJ mol−1). The CoNi/Co3O4/NF electrode was further investigated on a direct sodium borohydride–hydrogen peroxide fuel cell (DBHPFC), which exhibited a maximum power density of 108.5 mW cm−2 and excellent stability. The excellent performance is mainly due to its unique nanoarray structure and electrodeposition distribution of Co and Ni active sites, which increases the electrochemical surface area and enhances the contact between the electrode and the electrolyte.
