Axial force is one of the important factors affecting the life and reliability of centrifugal pumps. Based on the SST turbulence model, the unsteady internal flow field of an aero fuel centrifugal pump under various working conditions was analyzed by using the finite volume method and the axial force of the impeller component was predicted. The position servo force measuring system was used to measure the axial force of the fuel centrifugal pump and the theoretical formula of axial force was modified according to the numerical results and experimental values. The study shows that the pressure distribution of the front and rear pump chambers presented uneven circumferential distribution under the influence of dynamic and static interference through numerical simulation. The simulated head number is basically consistent with the test result and the maximum error of the axial force value obtained by the numerical calculation and the experimental value was 9.7% under different speeds, which verified the accuracy of the numerical simulation. Furthermore, the modified formula can accurately calculate the axial force of the fuel centrifugal pump with an error of less than 9.88%. In order to ensure that aircraft have medium and long-range flights, enhanced aerodynamic performance, and reduced fuel consumption, this paper presents an original Distributed Hybrid Electric Propulsion Aircraft (DHEPA) design scheme and proposes a novel power allocation management method based on convex optimization. Firstly, by taking the Tecnam P2006T general-purpose aircraft as a reference, key components of DHEPA are selected and modeled. Then, a power allocation management method for DHEPA is proposed on the basis of convex optimization, which takes the minimum fuel consumption as the performance index to realize the reasonable power allocation of the battery and engine, while avoiding sliding into the local optimum of allocation. Finally, momentum theory and numerical simulation methods are used to analyze the aerodynamic enhancement effect of the propeller on the wing in the DHEPA, and a dynamics method is utilized to calculate the dynamics performance of the aircraft at several important stages. The results show that, compared with the reference aircraft, the lift of the DHEPA is increased by 46%. Under typical sectors, the DHEPA has a higher rate of climb and maximum leveling off speed at cruise, and a significantly lower fuel consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A full envelope LMI-based multi-region linear parameter-varying power controller is designed for a turbofan engine in this paper. According to the characteristics of aero-engine model, three scheduling variables are divided into two groups firstly, and then part of them are partitioned, rather than all scheduling variables are partitioned directly as the usual multi-region LPV control. The polynomial LPV model of aero-engine is established under a specific flight condition. An explicit LPV controller by gridding method based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov function is designed and we propose a method to eliminate the dependence of LPV controller on the derivative of scheduling parameter. The flight envelope of turbofan engine is divided into multiple sub-regions, and a mixing LPV control method with overlapping regions is proposed, which can guarantee stability and performance across the full envelope. This study evaluated the effect of intrauterine perfusion of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on pregnancy outcomes in women with recurrent implantation failure (RIF). Key biomedical databases were searched to identify relevant clinical trials and observational studies. Outcomes included clinical pregnancy rate, chemical pregnancy rate, implantation rate, live birth rate, and abortion rate. Data was extracted from ten studies (six randomised controlled trials, four cohort studies) involving 1555 patients. Pregnancy outcomes were improved in women treated with PRP compared to controls: clinical pregnancy rate (RR = 1.96, 95% CI [1.67, 2.31], p < 0.00001, I2 = 46%), chemical pregnancy rate (RR = 1.79, 95% CI [1.54, 2.08], p < 0.00001, I2 = 29%), implantation rate (RR = 1.90, CI [1.50, 2.41], p < 0.00001, I2 = 0%), live birth rate (RR = 2.83, CI [1.45, 5.52], p = 0.0007, I2 = 83%), abortion rate (RR = 0.40, 95% CI [0.18, 0.90], p = 0.03, I2 = 59%). These data imply PRP has potential to improve pregnancy outcomes in women with RIF, suggesting a promising role in assisted reproductive technology. What is already known on this subject? Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood product that contains platelets, various growth factors, and cytokines at concentrations above the normal baseline level. Recent studies have shown that intrauterine infusion of autologous PRP can improve pregnancy outcomes in infertile women. What do the results of this study add? This systematic review and meta-analysis of data from ten studies (n = 1555; 775 cases and 780 controls) investigated the effect of intrauterine perfusion of autologous PRP on pregnancy outcomes in women with recurrent implantation failure (RIF). In order to solve the problem of full flight envelope control for aircraft engines, the design of a linear parameter-varying (LPV) controller is described in this paper. First, according to the nonlinear aerodynamic model of the aircraft engine, the LPV engine model for the controller design is obtained through the Jacobian linearization and fitting technique. Then, the flight envelope is divided into several sub-regions, and the intersection of adjacent sub-regions is not empty. The sub-region LPV controller is designed using the parameter-dependent Lyapunov function (PDLF)-based LPV synthesis method, while eliminating the dependence of the LPV controller on scheduling parameter derivatives. In order to ensure the stability and performance of the aircraft engine across the full flight envelope, a mixing LPV control method is proposed to design the LPV controller in the overall region. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulating a dual-spool turbofan engine on a nonlinear component level model and comparing the proposed method with the gain scheduling based on PI and H∞ point design. In order to solve the problem of motor fault caused by extreme low temperature and vibration in the high altitude of aviation propulsion motor, using the intelligent sliding mode fault-tolerant control, a speed controller based on variable exponential power reaching law and an extended sliding mode disturbance observer is designed; furthermore, the parameters are optimized by the adaptive chaotic gray wolf optimization algorithm. In addition, a second-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode observer and a frequency adaptive complex coefficient filter are designed. First, variable exponential power reaching law is helpful to eliminate the speed tracking error and buffeting for the speed controller, the external disturbance can be estimated and compensated using the extended sliding mode disturbance observer, and adaptive chaotic gray wolf optimization algorithm can enhance the accuracy of parameters. Second, for the sake of making the aviation propulsion motor run smoothly in the case of speed sensor fault, second-order nonsingular terminal sliding mode observer is designed to estimate the speed and position of aviation propulsion motor, and adaptive complex coefficient filter is designed to improve the estimation accuracy. Aiming at the various nonlinear factors, external disturbance in electro-hydraulic servo position systems, a novel sliding mode tracking control method based on the variable exponential power is proposed, which not only improves the speed of reaching the sliding mode surface, but also ensures the smooth approach performance as much as possible: the chattering phenomenon of the sliding surface is reduced effectively as a result. Furthermore, in order to optimize the parameters of the sliding mode controller, a new optimization algorithm is proposed by combining Grey Wolf optimizer with particle swarm optimization (CGWO-PSO), skillfully. The primary advantages of the new CGWO-PSO algorithm include faster convergence speed and higher performance. Finally, the co-simulation platform for the electro-hydraulic servo position system is built. The results of co-simulation show that the sliding mode tracking control method proposed in this paper can realize that the electro-hydraulic position servo system has excellent tracking accuracy, strong robustness, and smooth approach performance. Aiming at the maximum power point tracking for wind turbine, a sensorless intelligent second-order integral sliding mode control based on wind speed estimation is proposed in this article. The maximum wind energy capture is realized by controlling permanent magnet synchronous motor to adjust the speed of wind turbine. First, an intelligent second-order integral sliding mode control is designed for the speed loop and current loop control, which has fast convergence speed, strong robustness and can effectively reduce chattering. Second, a novel cascade observer based on direct sliding mode observer and extended high-gain observer is used to estimate the rotor speed and position. Besides, combined radial basis function neural network is used to estimate the valid value of wind speed. Both simulation and experiment are implemented, which verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy under the condition of considering both model uncertainty and external disturbance. The treatment and repair of large bone defects remains a major therapeutic challenge in the clinical setting. Nanofiber scaffolds fabricated via the electrospinning technique have been developed as a universal method for bone regeneration due to their suitable properties. However, traditional two-dimensional (2D) nanofiber mats are usually too dense, which may prevent cell infiltration and growth, thereby restricting their application. Herein, a three-dimensional (3D) polycaprolactone nanofiber scaffold was developed, modified by biomineralization and silk fibroin coating. The scaffold possessed a parallel array of nanofiber surfaces, mimicking the parallel structure of fibrils in natural bone tissue. Furthermore, the fabricated radially or laterally interconnected macrochannels were investigated to elucidate the effect of the scaffold structure on bone regeneration. In vitro studies revealed that the scaffolds could guide cell arrangement and that the radially aligned scaffold demonstrated a stronger ability to promote cell proliferation. In vivo results showed that the radially aligned scaffold could guide tissue arrangement and remodeling and support a significantly faster regeneration rate of bone tissue. Therefore, 3D-mineralized polycaprolactone nanofiber scaffolds with radially interconnected macrochannels and aligned nanofibers are expected to be used in tissue engineering, including in the repair of bone defects, cartilage or other composite tissues. Two types of silk fibroin (SF) membranes were developed for tendon repair: porous and nonporous SF membranes. The objective of this study was to compare the efficiency of these two films according to the ability of tendon regeneration using a rat Achilles tendon (AT) rupture suture wrapping model. The in vitro tests were conducted, and theSF membranes were proved to be with ultimate‐biodegradability, good‐biocompatibility and without toxicity. In vivo, 12 Sprague Dawley rats were used to create a rat AT rupture suture model wrapped by SF membranes. They were randomly divided into six groups. The results revealed that the nonporous SF membrane wrapping group was shown to reduce the inflammatory effect and induce the proliferation of fibroblast‐like cells at one week and four weeks post‐operatively. After four weeks, the nonporous SF membrane wrapping group exhibited more organized collagen structures and had increased expression of tendon repair proteins. Hence, our nonporous SF membrane improved the efficacy of tendon regeneration by decreasing inflammatory cells, growing fibroblast‐like cells, and promoting extracellular matrix production. Nonporous SF membrane can, therefore, be regarded as a better functional membrane for tendon repair. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Featured Application: This paper provides a novel hybrid grey wolf optimization algorithm and a new nonlinear model predictive control method for aircraft engines. These contributions can also be used for other kind of systems with constraints and performance optimization requirements. In order to deal with control constraints and the performance optimization requirements in aircraft engines, a new nonlinear model predictive control method based on an elastic BP neural network with a hybrid grey wolf optimizer is proposed in this paper. Based on the acquired aircraft engines data, the elastic BP neural network is used to train the prediction model, and the grey wolf optimization algorithm is applied to improve the selection of initial parameters in the elastic BP neural network. The accuracy of network modeling is increased as a result. By introducing the logistics chaotic sequence, the individual optimal search mechanism, and the cross operation, the novel hybrid grey wolf optimization algorithm is proposed and then used in receding horizon optimization to ensure real-time operation. Subsequently, a nonlinear model predictive controller for aircraft engine is obtained. Simulation results show that, with constraints in the control signal, the proposed nonlinear model predictive controller can guarantee that the aircraft engine has a satisfactory performance. For a class of nonlinear harmonic gear drive systems with mismatched uncertainties, a novel robust control method is presented on the basis of quadratic integral sliding mode surface, and the closed-loop system has satisfying performance and strong robustness against mismatched uncertainties and nonlinear disturbances. Considering time-varying nonlinear torques and parameters variations which are caused by nonlinear frictions and backlash, a nonlinear harmonic gear drive system mathematic model is established and the effect of nonlinear parts is compensated during control system design. It is proven that the quadratic integral sliding mode surface can be reached in finite time and the closed-loop system is asymptotic stable robustly. The simulation studies are carried out in comparison with traditional linear sliding mode control and integral sliding mode control, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method. In this paper, a novel sliding mode fault tolerant control method is presented for aircraft engine systems with uncertainties and disturbances on the basis of adaptive diagnostic observer. By taking both sensors faults and actuators faults into account, the general model of aircraft engine control systems which is subjected to uncertainties and disturbances, is considered. Then, the corresponding augmented dynamic model is established in order to facilitate the fault diagnosis and fault tolerant controller design. Next, a suitable detection observer is designed to detect the faults effectively. Through creating an adaptive diagnostic observer and based on sliding mode strategy, the sliding mode fault tolerant controller is constructed. Robust stabilization is discussed and the closed-loop system can be stabilized robustly. It is also proven that the adaptive diagnostic observer output errors and the estimations of faults converge to a set exponentially, and the converge rate greater than some value which can be adjusted by choosing designable parameters properly. The nonlinear dynamics of an actuator are considered during the output feedback control design of a quarter-car active suspension system with uncertainties. Because of the complexity of the suspension system with hydraulic actuator dynamics, a simple and effective sliding-mode strategy is employed to obtain both controller and observer. Instead of dividing the system into an actuator subsystem and a suspension subsystem, the system is repartitioned into a linear subsystem and a nonlinear subsystem, which facilitates controller design greatly. By specifying suitable sliding functions for the two subsystems respectively, and forcing the output of the nonlinear subsystem to track the desired fictitious input of the linear subsystem, the sliding-mode controller is created. By Lyapunov theory, robust stability is analyzed. For linear growth vanishing bounded uncertainties and nonvanishing bounded uncertainties, different observer forms are given to simplify the observer in different situations. Based on the constructed sliding-mode observer, the sliding-mode output feedback control suspension closed-loop system is accomplished. The convergence of observation error is subsequently proved. This paper presents a novel intelligent fault-tolerant control method for a kind of more electric aircraft AC/DC hybrid electrical power system, in order to ensure the safe operation of the engine and improve the power supply quality. The more electric aircraft electrical power system was combined with an aircraft engine, two generators, two AC/DC rectifiers, two DC/AC inverters, DC loads, and AC loads. A multi-objective optimization intelligent sliding mode fault-tolerant controller was obtained for aircraft engine with actuator faults. Each of AC/DC rectifiers is 12-pulse autotransformer rectifier unit with active power filter. Active power filter was used to realize the desired performance of DC bus. Intelligent fractional order PI controller is presented for AC/DC rectifier by considering multiple performance indexes. In order to guarantee the AC-side has satisfying voltage, current, and frequency, no matter the sudden change of AC load that happens or DC/AC fault that occurs, the virtual synchronous generator control method was used for DC/AC inverters. Although various strategies have been utilized to accelerate bone regeneration in bone tissue engineering (BTE), the treatment and repair of large bone defects remains a clinical challenge worldwide. Inspired by the natural extracellular matrix of bone tissue, organic-inorganic composite scaffolds with three-dimensional (3D) porous structures, sufficient mechanical properties, excellent cytocompatibility, osteoconductivity, and osteogenic potential have received considerable attention within the field of bone engineering. In this work, a novel epichlorohydrin (ECH)-crosslinked hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC)/soy protein isolate (SPI) porous bi-component scaffold (EHSS) with hydroxyapatite (HAp) functionalization (EHSS/HAp) was constructed for bone defect repair via the combination of lyophilization and in situ biomimetic mineralization. Systematic characterization experiments were performed to assess the morphology, HAp-forming properties, mechanical properties and degradation rate of the scaffold. The results indicated that the prepared scaffolds exhibited an interconnected porous structure, a biomimetic HAp coating on their surfaces, improved mechanical properties in compression and a controllable degradation rate. In particular, semiquantitative analysis showed that the calcium/phosphorus (Ca/P) ratio of EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI content (1.65) was similar to that of natural bone tissue (1.67) according to energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis. In vitro cell culture experiments indicated that the EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI content showed improved cytocompatibility and was suitable for MC3T3-E1 cell attachment, proliferation and growth. Consistently, in vitro osteogenic differentiation studies showed that EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI content can significantly accelerate the expression of osteogenesis-related genes (Col-1, Runx2, OPN, and OCN) during osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells. Furthermore, when applied to the repair of critical-sized cranial defects in a rat model, EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI was capable of significantly promoting tissue regeneration and integration with native bone tissue. Microscopic computed tomography (micro-CT) results demonstrated that the bone defect site was nearly occupied with newly formed bone at 12 weeks after implantation of EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI content into the defect. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and Masson's trichrome staining of histological sections further confirmed that EHSS/HAp with 70% SPI markedly promoted new bone formation and maturation. There are still limitations in artificial bone materials used in clinical practice, such as difficulty in repairing large bone defects, the mismatch between the degradation rate and tissue growth, difficulty in vascularization, an inability to address bone defects of various shapes, and risk of infection. To solve these problems, our group designed stereolithography (SLA) 3D-printed calcium silicate artificial bone improved by a calcium sulfate-Cu 2+ delivery system. SLA technology endows the scaffold with a three-dimensional tunnel structure to induce cell migration to the center of the bone defect. The calcium sulfate-Cu 2+ delivery system was introduced to enhance the osteogenic activity of calcium silicate. Rapid degradation of calcium sulfate (CS) induces early osteogenesis in the three-dimensional tunnel structure. Calcium silicate (CSi) which degrades slowly provides mechanical support and promotes bone formation in bone defect sites for a long time. The gradient degradation of these two components is perfectly matched to the rate of repair in large bone defects. On the other hand, the calcium sulfate delivery system can regularly release Cu 2+ in the temporal and spatial dimensions, exerting a long-lasting antimicrobial effect and promoting vascular growth. BACKGROUND Our objective was to explore a synthetic alginate hydrogel delivery system for the delivery of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) particles for bone graft substitutes. MATERIAL AND METHODS The physiochemical properties of surface morphology, porosity measurements, in vitro degradation, equilibrium swelling, and mechanical testing of combined DBM powder and alginate in amounts of 0 mg/1 mL, 25 mg/1 mL, 50 mg/1 mL, and 100 mg/1 mL were detected. In vitro cell culture and in vivo studies using Sprague-Dawley rats were performed to evaluate the biocompatibility and osteoinductivity of DBM-alginate (ADBM) composites. RESULTS DBM particles were uniformly scattered in all composites, and macro-scale pores were omnipresent. All composites showed a similar low degradation rate, with approximately 85% of weight remaining after 15 days. As the concentration of DBM particles in composites increased, degradation in collagenase and elastic modulus increased and the pore area and swelling ratio significantly decreased. No cytotoxicity of ADBM or alginate on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) was observed. Cell cultivation with ADBM showed greater osteogenic potential, evidenced by the upregulation of alkaline phosphatase and alizarin red staining activity and the mRNA expression level of marker genes RUNX2, OCN, OPN, and collagen I compared with the cells grown in alginate. Evaluation of ectopic bone formation revealed the osteoinductivity of the ADBM composites was significantly greater than that of DBM particles. Osteoinduction of the composites was demonstrated by a cranial defect model study. CONCLUSIONS The delivery of DBM particles using a synthetic alginate hydrogel carrier may be a promising approach in bone tissue engineering for bone defects.
