Veraval has emerged as one of the major fish landing center of the country and especially of Gujarat state. Also it has a great contribution in earning the foreign exchange by means of the seafood export either fresh, frozen or dry. Various groups of fishes landed here are commercially important as they have got consistent demand in domestic as well as international market. Some groups of fishes are the one being commercially important since last few decades but there are some new emerging groups and species that have gained market attention in recent times, one such species is the Unicorn Leather Jacket (Aluterus monocerus). The present study was conducted to understand promising fishing grounds of Unicorn Leather Jacket (Aluterus monocerus) using GIS mapping method. The precise data in the form of geographical coordinates of fishing and allied information on the time of fishing, depth of the fishing area, catch details, etc. in a structured schedule were collected from the identified multiday trawlers operated along Veraval coast of Gujarat. Information was then mapped on GIS platform to get the promising fishing grounds and the spatio-temporal distribution of Unicorn Leather Jacket (Aluterus monocerus). Unicorn Leather jacket (Aluterus monocerus) was abundant in waters of Saurashtra during the post monsoon and winter months where as in pre monsoon season the CPUE was high in Maharashtra waters. The plant species which were found along the sea - shore was called as "seaweed". They were reported all along the Indian coastal state waters in variable amount. Among all these Indian coastal states Tamil Nadu and Gujarat states contributes more seaweed resource. They were mainly utilized for food, medicine, fertilizers etc. In this study, six seaweed species were identified viz., Green Algae: Caulerpara cemosa and Ulva fasciata; Brown Algae: Sargassum cinereum and Spatoglos sumasperum; Red Algae: Asparagopsis taxiformis and Hypneamus ciformis. The biochemical composition of those species were studied for Crude Protein content, Fat content, Carbohydrate content and Ash content. The values of biochemical composition were varies from; crude protein: 7.95-18.63%, fat content: 0.53-3.16%, carbohydrate content: 16.98-40.82% and ash content: 19.05-38.97%, which represents these available seaweed resources in future could become one of the most important resource and so in future this scenario ultimately causes the utilization and demand of seaweed was goes on increasing, not only along Asian countries, but also from all over the world. They were mainly utilized for food, medicine, fertilizers etc. in this review article authors were discussed about the availability of seaweed resources along Indian waters and the mineral and proximate composition of commercially important seaweed species, which represents seaweed is one of the most important resource in future and so in future this scenario will ultimately causes the utilization and demand of seaweed was going on increasing, not only along Asian countries but also from all over the world. The Indian waters consideration represents, there was very less importance was given to seaweed as that of other oceanic resource, but in future India also going to give importance to seaweed mainly because over-fishing/ over-harvesting of other oceanic resources like fishes, shell fishes, mammals etc. from Indian oceanic waters. so all these thing together concluded that in future seaweed will became as one of the best alternative option for human beings.
