Immunoglobulin A nephropathy is a complex autoimmune disease with various underlying causes and significant clinical heterogeneity. There are large individual differences in its development, and the etiology and pathogenesis are still poorly understood. While it is known that immunobiological factors play a significant role in the pathophysiology of immunoglobulin A nephropathy, the specific nature of these factors has yet to be fully elucidated. Numerous investigations have verified that CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes are involved in the immunopathogenesis of immunoglobulin A nephropathy. Furthermore, certain data also point to γδT cells' involvement in the pathophysiology of immunoglobulin A nephropathy. By thoroughly examining the mechanisms of action of these T cells in the context of immunoglobulin A nephropathy, this review sheds light on the immunopathogenesis of the disease and its associated factors. Fermented dairy foods such as yogurt exhibit some beneficial effects on consumers, including relieving the symptoms of hypertension. This study aims to obtain fermented dairy products from a co-starter that have a great flavor and the auxiliary function of reducing blood pressure after longtime consumption. Commercial starter cultures composed of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus CICC 6047 and Streptococcus thermophilus CICC 6038 were combined with Lactobacillus plantarum strains Y44, Y12, and Y16, respectively, as a combined starter culture to ferment the mixed milk of skim milk and soybean milk. The fermented milk produced using the combined starter culture mixed with L. plantarum Y44 showed an angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity (53.56 ± 0.69%). Some peptides that regulate blood pressure were released in the fermented milk, such as AMKPWIQPK, GPVRGPFPII, LNVPGEIVE, NIPPLTQTPV, and YQEPVL. In spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) oral-administration experiments compared with the gavage unfermented milk group, the gavage feeding of SHRs with the fermented milk produced using the combined starter culture mixed with L. plantarum Y44 significantly reduced the blood pressure of the SHRs after long-term intragastric administration, shown with the systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) decreasing by 23.67 ± 2.49 mmHg and 15.22 ± 2.62 mmHg, respectively. Moreover, the abundance of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), bacterial diversity in the gut microbiota, and SCFA levels including acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid in the feces of the SHRs were increased via oral administration of the fermented milk produced using the combined starter culture containing L. plantarum Y44. Furthermore, the ACE-angiotensin II (Ang II)-angiotensin type 1 (AT 1) axis was downregulated, the angiotensin-converting-enzyme 2 (ACE 2)-angiotensin(1-7) (Ang1-7)-Mas receptor axis of the SHRs was upregulated, and then the RAS signal was rebalanced. A proactive mobile network (PMN) is a novel architecture enabling extremely low-latency communication. This architecture employs an open-loop transmission mode that prohibits all real-time control feedback processes and employs virtual cell technology to allocate resources non-exclusively to users. However, such a design also results in significant potential user interference and worsens the communication's reliability. In this paper, we propose introducing multi-reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) technology into the downlink process of the PMN to increase the network's capacity against interference. Since the PMN environment is complex and time varying and accurate channel state information cannot be acquired in real time, it is challenging to manage RISs to service the PMN effectively. We begin by formulating an optimization problem for RIS phase shifts and reflection coefficients. Furthermore, motivated by recent developments in deep reinforcement learning (DRL), we propose an asynchronous advantage actor–critic (A3C)-based method for solving the problem by appropriately designing the action space, state space, and reward function. Simulation results indicate that deploying RISs within a region can significantly facilitate interference suppression. The proposed A3C-based scheme can achieve a higher capacity than baseline schemes and approach the upper limit as the number of RISs increases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the wide application of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), the visual inertial odometer (VIO) system that realizes the positioning function through the integration of a camera and inertial measurement unit (IMU) has developed rapidly, but it is still limited by the high complexity of the algorithm, the long development cycle of the dedicated accelerator, and the low power supply capacity of AMRs. This work designs a reconfigurable accelerated core that supports different VIO algorithms and has high area and energy efficiency, precision, and speed processing characteristics. Experimental results show that the loss of accuracy of the proposed accelerator is negligible on the most authoritative dataset. The on-chip memory usage of 70 KB is at least 10× smaller than the state-of-the-art works. Thus, the FPGA implementation's hardware-resource consumption, power dissipation, and synthesis in the 28 nm CMOS outperform the previous works with the same platform. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In our previous research, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum-12 alleviated inflammation in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced mice by regulating intestinal microbiota and preventing colon shortening (p < 0.05). The purpose of the present study was to evaluate whether L. plantarum-12 could ameliorate the colon cancer symptoms of azoxymethane (AOM)/DSS-treated C57BL/6 mice. The results showed that L. plantarum-12 alleviated colonic shortening (from 7.43 ± 0.15 to 8.23 ± 0.25) and weight loss (from 25.92 ± 0.21 to 27.75 ± 0.88) in AOM/DSS-treated mice. L. plantarum-12 oral administration down-regulated pro-inflammatory factors TNF-α (from 350.41 ± 15.80 to 247.72 ± 21.91), IL-8 (from 322.19 ± 11.83 to 226.08 ± 22.06), and IL-1β (111.43 ± 8.14 to 56.90 ± 2.70) levels and up-regulated anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 (from 126.08 ± 24.92 to 275.89 ± 21.87) level of AOM/DSS-treated mice. L. plantarum-12 oral administration restored the intestinal microbiota dysbiosis of the AOM/DSS treated mice by up-regulating beneficial Muribaculaceae, Lactobacillaceae, and Bifidobacteriaceae levels and down-regulating pathogenic Proteobacteria, Desulfovibrionaceae, and Erysipelotrichaceae levels. As a result, the fecal metabolites of the AOM/DSS-treated mice were altered, including xanthosine, uridine, 3,4-methylenesebacic acid, 3-hydroxytetradecanedioic acid, 4-hydroxyhexanoylglycine, beta-leucine, and glycitein, by L. plantarum-12 oral administration. Furthermore, L. plantarum-12 oral administration significantly ameliorated the colon injury of the AOM/DSS-treated mice by enhancing colonic tight junction protein level and promoting tumor cells death via down-regulating PCNA (proliferating cell nuclear antigen) and up-regulating pro-apoptotic Bax. Taken together, L. plantarum-12 oral administration could ameliorate the colon cancer burden and inflammation of AOM-DSS-treated C57BL/6 mice through regulating the intestinal microbiota, manipulating fecal metabolites, enhancing colon barrier function, and inhibiting NF-κB signaling. Shigella flexneri is a waterborne and foodborne pathogen that can damage human health. The exopolysaccharides (S-EPS) produced by S. flexneri CMCC51574 were found to promote biofilm formation and virulence. In this research, the crude S-EPS produced by S. flexneri CMCC51574 were separated into three main different fractions, S-EPS 1-1, S-EPS 2-1, and S-EPS 3-1. The structure of the S -ESP 2-1 was identified by FT-IR, ion chromatography analysis, methylation analysis, and NMR analysis. The main chain of S-EPS 2-1 was α-Manp-(1 → 3)-α-Manp-[(1 → 2,6)-α-Manp]15-[(1 → 2)-Manf-(1→]8; there were two branched-chain R1 and R2 with a ratio of 4:1, R1: α-Manp-(1 → 6)- and R2: α-Manp-(1 → 6)- Glc-(1 → 6)- were linked with (1 → 2,6)-α-Manp. It was found that S-EPS 2-1 exhibited the highest promoting effect on biofilm formation of S. flexneri. The S-EPS 2-1 was identified to interact with extracellular DNA (eDNA) of S. flexneri , indicating that the S-EPS 2-1 was the specific polysaccharide in the spatial structure of biofilm formation. Our research found the important role of S-EPS in S. flexneri biofilm formation, which will help us to understand the underlining mechanisms of the biofilm formation and find effective ways to prevent S. flexneri biofilm infection. The complexity of reservoir conditions puts forward higher requirements for drilling fluid performance. The existing water-based drilling fluids (WBFDs) are difficult to meet the requirements at high temperature reservoirs. Oil-based drilling fluids (OBDFs) are suitable for deep and ultra-deep wells because of its good temperature resistant. In this paper, the plastic viscosity (PV), apparent viscosity (AV), yield point (YP), dynamic shear ratio, filtration loss (FL) and other properties are measured to investigate the type and concentration of bentonite, emulsifier, filtration reducer, wetting agent, and barite in the OBDF. The final formula of the OBDF is: No. 5 white oil + 4% sodium dodecyl-benzenesulfonate (SDBS) + 5% bentonite + 4% 180°C oxidized asphalt powder + 10% Tween-80 + 1.5% BaSO4. The PV, AV, and YP of No. 5 white OBDF increase by 22.4%, 17.0%, and 12.8% respectively, also the demulsification voltage can keep above 2000 V after aging at 220°C for 24 h. Compared with the drilling fluid used in Shanxi Oilfield, the properties of the No. 5 white OBDF have greatly improved the properties. The No. 5 white OBDF preparation provides new ideas for the development of OBDFs with good temperature resistant and environmental feasibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Aims. The value of hepatocyte regeneration in predicting the outcomes of hepatitis B-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is not fully assessed. The present study was aimed at establishing a novel scoring system to predict patients' outcomes within 3 months by applying serological indicators of hepatic regeneration and liver injury. Methods. Patients with chronic hepatitis B who had a rapid deterioration were investigated. Patients were observed for 90 days, and the endpoint of follow-up was death or liver transplantation. Serum parameters were estimated on the diagnosis of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). Cox proportional hazard regression was used to identify independent prognostic factors and create a novel prognostic scoring system, and a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the performance of the model. Results. A total of 308 patients with HBV-ACLF were incorporated and divided into the training cohort (n = 206) and testing cohort (n = 102) randomly. Creatine (Cre), age, total bilirubin (TBil), alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), and international normalized ratio (INR) were found to be independent prognostic factors. According to the results of Cox regression analysis, a new prognostic model (we named it the TACIA score) was calculated. The areas under ROC (AUROC) for the new model were 0.861 and 0.763 in the training and testing cohorts, respectively, and patients with lower TACIA scores (<4.34) would survive longer (P < 0.001). Conclusions. A pertinent prognostic scoring system for patients with HBV-ACLF was established in our study, and the novel model could predict patients' short-term survival effectively. Despite the fact that deep learning has achieved remarkable success in various domains over the past decade, its application in molecular informatics and drug discovery is still limited. Recent advances in adapting deep architectures to structured data have opened a new paradigm for pharmaceutical research. In this survey, we provide a systematic review on the emerging field of graph convolutional networks and their applications in drug discovery and molecular informatics. Typically we are interested in why and how graph convolution networks can help in drug-related tasks. We elaborate the existing applications through four perspectives: molecular property and activity prediction, interaction prediction, synthesis prediction and de novo drug design. We briefly introduce the theoretical foundations behind graph convolutional networks and illustrate various architectures based on different formulations. Then we summarize the representative applications in drug-related problems. We also discuss the current challenges and future possibilities of applying graph convolutional networks to drug discovery. The homogeneous Fe(VI)/Na 2 SO 3 system has been proposed for highly efficient degradation of recalcitrant contaminants, in which sulfite could significantly enhance the transformation of organic substrate by Fe(VI). Also, the Fe(VI)/NaHSO 3 system could show high efficiency across a wide range of pH conditions. The degradation rates reached up to 80% within 2 min and 70% within 5 min in strongly acidic and alkaline conditions, respectively. Unexpectedly, a faster removal rate was obtained in Fe(VI)/NaHSO 3 system than that in Fe(VI)/Na 2 SO 3 system for the degradation of methylene blue (MB). A reasonable dye degradation mechanism was proposed and verified by a series of experiments. The high oxidation potential of Fe(VI) and other species such as sulfate and hydroxyl radicals were responsible for the outstanding capabilities of Fe(VI)/NaHSO 3 system, which could significantly improve the treatment of organics in wastewater under a very wide range of pH conditions. Summary: To meet human needs, the geographical location of lead changes during the process of mining lead ore to produce lead products for use by humans. These changes reveal the influence of human activities on lead distribution on the surface of Earth. In this study, a framework was built to analyze changes in lead distribution. Lead was traced through its life cycle using this framework. The provincial administrative unit in mainland of China was defined as the unit of space. The process of anthropogenic spatial transfer of lead was quantitatively analyzed by comparing lead distribution between different areas during each stage of its life cycle in 2010. The results showed that in 2010, around 60% of domestic lead resources were distributed in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, and other locations in China. Nearly 80% of the refined lead was produced in Henan, Anhui, Hunan, Yunnan, and Jiangsu provinces. More than 50% of lead products were fabricated and manufactured in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Hebei provinces. The distribution of lead usage and scrap recovery was relatively uniform (approximately 21 provinces accounted for 1% to 6% of all scrap in the country), although lead products and scrap were mainly distributed in Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces, which together accounted for nearly 40% of the total. The recycling of lead scrap was mainly concentrated in Anhui (around 57% of the total). Overall, during the whole process, from the mining lead ore from the lithosphere to each stage of the product life cycle, lead was gradually transferred from the south and north of China to the central area and, finally, to the eastern coastal areas.
