On 13rd October 2016 the Chiostergi-Tuscher archive and library, originating from the heirs' house located in France (Saint-Cergues Les Voirons), was transferred to the Centro cooperativo mazziniano "Pensiero e Azione" in Senigallia. The paper reports about how this remarkable heritage of Chiostergi-Tuscher was retrieved and returned to Italy after thirty years. The collection includes correspondences, letters, diaries, documents, journals and papers, pictures, books, posters and other archival and bibliographic materials of great historical value to learn about the political, civic and cultural activities of Giuseppe Chiostergi (1899-1961), anti-fascist, member of the Italian Constituent Assembly and of Parliament, ambassador, pro-European and statesman, friend and correspondent to leading Italian and European personalities in the 20th century. Law n. 1176 was issued by the Italian Parliament on 17th July 1919 to acknowledge the juridical capacity of women, by abolishing the legal arrangement of marital authorization and opening the door of the labour market for women. The bill had a long complicated path to follow before becoming law; however, it has been soon expunged from collective memory for being a halfway conquest and an announced change that never got real, considering the limitations and restrictions inherent to it. The law, which eventually came to meet the ambitions nurtured by Italian women for over half a century, is linked to the name of then Minister of Justice Lodovico Mortara, a lawyer, university teacher and First President of the Cassation Court of Rome. The purpose of this essay is to revisit the most relevant steps of Mortara's public commitment to women's liberation and highlight his leading role in the process of approval of the above-mentioned law. It is common opinion that the first women voters in Italy were the women who voted in 1946. However, the very first ones were ten bold teachers from the Marche area who had their right to vote recognized with a judgement issued on 25th July 1906 by the Court of appeal of Ancona headed by jurist Lodovico Mortara. Their story and oblivion thereof are explained by the process of women's liberation, the liveliness of Italian women's associations in the early 20th century and the political and civil dynamism of the time bearing the name of statesman Giovanni Giolitti. Although photovoltaic power plants are suitable local energy sources in Micro Grid environments, when large plants are involved, partial shading and inaccurate modelling of the plant can affect both the design of the Micro Grid as well as the energy management process that allows for lowering the overall Micro Grid demand towards the main grid. To investigate the issue, a Photovoltaic Plant simulation model, based on a real life power plant, and an energy management system, based on a real life Micro Grid environment, have been integrated to evaluate the performance of a Micro Grid under partial shading conditions. Using a baseline energy production model as a reference, the energy demand of the Micro Grid has been computed in sunny and partial shading conditions. The experiments reveal that an estimation based on a simplified PV model can exceed by 65% the actual production. With regards to Micro Grid design, on sunny days, the expected costs, based on a simplified PV model, can be 5.5% lower than the cost based on the double inverter model. In single cloud scenarios, the underrating can reach 28.3%. With regard to the management process, if the energy yield is estimated by means of a simplified PV model, the actual cost can be from 17.1% to 21.5% higher than the theoretical cost expected at design time. In the last few years, due to the technological improvement of advanced metering infrastructures, water and natural gas grids can be regarded as smart-grids, similarly to power ones. However, considering the number of studies related to the application of computational intelligence to distribution grids, the gap between power grids and water/gas grids is notably wide. For this purpose, in this paper, a framework for leakage identification is presented. The framework is composed of three sections aimed at the extraction and the selection of features and at the detection of leakages. A variation of the Sequential Feature Selection (SFS) algorithm is used to select the best performing features within a set, including, also, innovative temporal ones. The leakage identification is based on novelty detection and exploits the characterization of a normality model. Three statistical approaches, The Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and One-Class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM), are adopted, under a comparative perspective. Both residential and office building environments are investigated by means of two datasets. One is the Almanac of Minutely Power dataset (AMPds), and it provides water and gas data consumption at 1, 10 and 30 min of time resolution; the other is the Department of International Development (DFID) dataset, and it provides water and gas data consumption at 30 min of time resolution. The achieved performance, computed by means of the Area Under the Curve (AUC), reaches 90% in the office building case study, thus confirming the suitability of the proposed approach for applications in smart water and gas grids. In micro-grids, distributed energy generation based on renewable sources allows reducing the fossil fuel emissions. In order to manage the limited availability of renewable sources and to meet users' requirements, a proper scheduling of both tasks and storage activities is needed. Moreover, the difficulty of storing energy on a large scale represents an opportunity for the micro-grid actors to collaborate for better balancing energy supply and demand. Collaboration may be achieved through the application of suitable energy management policies tackling the specific consumers' needs. We address the Energy Management Problem in a micro-grid with collaboration among users. Specifically, a building is considered where each apartment can use both Shared and Local energy resources, the former managed by a Building Manager (BM). The problem is formulated through Bi-objective Mixed Integer Linear Programming , maximizing both the BM and the apartments' profits and solved through the Augmented ϵ -Constraint approach. Numerical results, obtained on a set of realistic scenarios, are compared to those of the Weighted Sum method and evaluated according to proper performance metrics. The approach flexibility, in terms of selected management policies, is also discussed.
