Some recent appraisals of Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) research have found it to be deterministic and ideological, and lacking sophistication and specificity with regards to theory and method. Notably, such criticisms dovetail with the foundations of Actor Network Theory (ANT). Based on fieldwork in Kingston, Jamaica, we draw on ANT to ‘re-assemble’ the understanding of SDP programs by examining their constitutive elements. The results illustrate the connections necessary for SDP to cohere, and the range of actors in the field, including international funders, funds themselves, and concepts regarding sport’s development utility. Investigating these assemblages facilitates a non-deterministic understanding of the ways in which sport is mobilized in the service of development and peace, while allowing for a nuanced and empirically sound assessment of power and agency. This essay traces networks created by the movement and use of luxury (often imported) and ceremonial textiles in thirteenth-century England. These networks incorporate humans and objects: a particular cloth interacts with human donors, recipients, and royal officials; with scissors and thread; and with inventories, slips of parchment, and labeled chests. My narrative follows textile networks through largely public and dynamic events of gifting between elite individuals and display in royal ceremonial, in which the materiality of textiles enables them to play diverse roles: worn, walked upon, argued over, cut and divided. At the same time, less obvious but crucial events of documentation and storage are also revealed; these actively worked to sustain textiles' associations with donors and events. I posit that these various public and private networks of people and things functioned to make the value of the gifted and ceremonial textiles "stick" in the memory of individuals—these networks worked to combat the tendency of all historical connections to be forgotten, the tendency of all things to fall apart. Methods informed by actor-network theory (ANT) are recommended as a way to more clearly delineate the processes by which collected objects function within acts of remembering. We herein discuss our commentary in light of Wang and Liu's response and clarify our suggestions regarding their original content analysis. Revisiting the methodological decisions that impact the reliability and validity of moral content codings, we focus on the selection and separation of coding and context units, the importance of keeping the annotations of codebook creators and coders independent for obtaining unbiased reliability estimates, the advantages of intuitive, context-aware text highlighting tasks executed by an optimally trained crowd, and on using the recommended moral dictionary scoring options when automatically coding textual documents. We thank Wang and Liu for their engagement with our commentary and in joining our efforts to improve guidelines for conducting reproducible, reliable, and valid moral content analyses. The article discusses a methodology for Dramaturgical Analysis developed in the context of work as dramaturgs and scholars at the theatre and performance studies department at Utrecht University. Topics discussed include principles of composition, modes of addressing the spectator, and ways in which a performance may relate to a wider social and artistic context.

Contemporary feminisms are ineluctably drawn into comparisons with historic discourses, forms of praxis and tactical repertoires. While this can underscore points of continuity and commonality in ongoing struggles, it can also result in nostalgia for a more unified and purposeful feminist politics. Kate Eichhorn argues that our interest in nostalgia should be to understand feminist temporalities, and in particular the specific context in which we experience such nostalgia. Accordingly, this article takes up the idea that neoliberalism and populism, which have given rise to both neoliberal feminism and femonationalism, have produced a series of contestations regarding the purpose and nature of feminist politics, as expressed by white popular feminism in the United Kingdom. This article examines two dimensions of feminist nostalgia: first, nostalgia for a more radical form of feminist politics – one not co-opted by neoliberal forces, not individualistic and not centred around online activism; and second, a nostalgia for the idea of 'sisterhood' – a time before white feminists were called upon to engage with intersectionality or be inclusive of trans-women. We analyse these themes through analysis of white popular feminism produced in the United Kingdom between 2010 and 2020, cautioning against a feminist nostalgia which neglects to engage with the radical politics of intersectionality. Literary education exposes students to unpredictable critical moments in their encounters with a text. Drawing on Dewey's transactional realism and actor-network theory, this theoretical and conceptual study explores the performativity of things and materials as they shape reading and teaching bodies. This transactional performativity extends beyond the physical positioning of the body to the power relations enacted in text situations. The conceptual rationale is illustrated by a story about a reading chair in a detention home for detained young men—an environment where power issues come to a head. The story illustrates a theoretical discussion of what might be characterized as performing 'the critical' in reading and how potentialities for students' experiences are created in text situations by the different components involved. Need of new reading of sociological concepts of society of risk, network society, complex society and different scientific views on modern society in relation to process of an institutionalization of digital sociology as special sociological theory, subject matter and special methodology of knowledge of digital reality has been substantiated. Methodological approaches to use of the principles, the ideas and categories of various schools of sciences, groups of erudite and certain representatives of sociological science to development of the conceptual and categorial device, methodical potential and tools of digital sociology have been adduced. Special attention has been paid to the consideration of the concept of social network of the American sociologist Richard Mark Emerson in the context of digitalization. From positions of the concept of Richard Mark Emerson emergence of new dependences of users of Internet network on special category of subjects socially of interaction – moderators, administrators, owners of resources, the controlling public authorities and also manipulators of people’s attention has been explained; the specific motivation, which reveals itself in such phenomena as hypertrophied aspiration to the self-presentation (“selfie”, etc.); representation of the distorted virtual image for communications, hyperactivity in the appeal to various resources (“Internet surfing”) and also prevalence of motivators and estimated means – anonymous comments, “likes”, posts, reposts, symbolical encouragement and awards. Besides that, the behavior of Internet users has been considered in the context of the theory of the rational choice of the American sociologist James S. Coleman: at all risks of virtual interaction, the choice for integration of social communications into digital space, use of Internet resources for satisfaction of personal and group needs brings more vital benefits for people, than folding of social activity in the Internet network.

The article considers modern tendencies prevailing in the higher education system while training technical specialists nowadays. According to the authors, excluding the humanitarian courses from curriculum results in the complete dissolution of subjectivity in the impersonal world, which is deprived of "living" knowledge, that is, definite knowledge of a definite person. The application of such an approach is illustrated by the actor–network theory (ANT). While studying several works by ANT founders, it turned out to be clear that such an approach eliminates any differences between natural and humanitarian, engineering, and philosophical knowledge. As a result, the net emerges consisting of numerous actants and which requires from every participant his "building‐in" a model with the functions being delegated to him in advance. The article concludes that an "alive" component is disappearing from the higher education nowadays when the main stress is being made on the knowledge acquired a priori, not a posteriori. In this coda, I consider the oncoming and already-present "crises" (see Giardina & Laurendeau, this issue) which threaten to unsettle the Enlightenment (and its hermeneutic legacies) substrata scholars of sport and the active body rest their work upon. In so doing, I aim to take up a number of the questions posited by the guest editors in their call for papers for this edition. I look back on the research and research acts that have come to hold sway in our field to reflect upon what the contents of this special issue might tell us about the politics of evidence, knowledge, and research action within such a state of metaphysical disorientation. I do so with this question in mind: what if these epistemological and ontological bases--the very axioms of intellectual reason and the pursuit of knowledge--no longer carried (much) value? What if the institutions which house our work no longer privileged the very foundational metaphysics-Enlightenment axioms of inquiry and reason--upon which our endeavors are hoisted? The purpose of this paper is to further existing research on fieldwork practices and experiences by focusing on issues of reflexivity (Pillow, 2003) and research ethics (Guillemin & Gillam, 2004) within "openly ideological research" (Lather, 1986) that actively renounces the objective observer in favor of the praxis-driven embodied research actor (Giardina & Newman, 2011a). This paper examines incidents from our fieldwork on the Baltimore Grand Prix and the city's 2011 mayoral election as, at a public forum, we were accused, not only of malicious intent but also of nefarious origin. As a result, this paper focuses upon the many dilemmas--moral, ethical, personal--inherent in ethnographic research (Springwood & King, 2001), with a deliberate focus upon the researcher's (in)ability to "blend in" to a research setting (Woodward, 2008). More specifically this paper examines research in public spaces conducted with the aim of stimulating potentially divisive discourse. In this paper, I use a case study of translation of Korean media golf narratives into English to widen academic discussions on sporting language translation. I employ poststructural and postcolonial theory to analyze historically mediated and translocally grounded Korean golf narratives while elucidating the power relations embedded in these narratives. In my analysis of Korean media representations of women golfers as they are translated into English, I reveal how colonial histories and cultural hierarchies are embedded in sport narratives. The study reveals discursive links between the local and global levels, where global sport is represented in distinct ways depending on local language use even as language moves local sport into a global/transnational context. Finally, this paper invites a rethinking of translation as part of data collection/treatment and data interpretation/analysis using an anticolonial, ethical, and rigorous methodological practice. Critical interventionist ethnography has recently come into vogue within the Sociology of Sport. More specifically, many in our field believe that merely studying and writing up studies on physical culture is not enough, and that work within the field needs to be more impactful, meaningful, and exact various forms of social justice. As such, in this paper I will discuss how the turn to social justice has had a profound effect on my research agenda. In so doing, I will outline the difficulties and challenges inherent in such a political project by critically reflecting on my first ethnographic research project on the Little League World Series--an admittedly failed attempt at critical intervention. I hope to help foster better and more successful research projects within the field by looking back at some of the key mistakes I made at this site while simultaneously encouraging others to be public pedagogues. Driven by a desire to interrogate and articulate the role and place of the body in the study of sport, this paper encourages those who are incited by a richer understanding of the physical to expand and elaborate upon the fleshy figuration that guides the research projects and practices/strategies of the present. This call for papers is an opportunity to unpack the methodological impetus of "body work" (Giardina & Newman, 2011a) and to locate it within the nexus of dialogues that expressly seek to reengage an eclectic body politic at precisely the time when the body is a site of continuous scrutinizing and scientific confession. As researchers we grapple with and problematize method(ologies) in light of the conjunctural demands placed upon our scholarship and so I reflect on a recently conducted project and the methodological moments that it brought to light. Conceptualized in terms of a physical performative pedagogy of subjectivity, I tentatively forward a discussion of what moving methods might look and feel like and thus I question why, when we research into physical, sporting, (in)active experiences, do we refrain from putting the body to work? This is an exercise developed to explore the intersection of structuralism and phenomenology. After reviewing its axioms, I have decided to incorporate Jean Claude Milner's philosophy on the Policy of the Speaking Beings, in order to introduce the concept of the masses. I will consider the possibility of the masses being a social entity where the tensions of structuralism and phenomenology tend to merge. The masses provide the dialectical contradiction that mixes both philosophies, because it is characterized by the loss of virtual subjectivity and form. However, the potential for virtual subjectivity and form is still there. It is expressed by the political and non-political bodies that hold power over the masses through violent means. I present some clarifications on Bruno Latour's Theory of the Actor Network in order frame the concept of the masses within the context of the intersection of structuralism and phenomenology. This paper develops and articulates a metaphysics of intersectionality, the idea that multiple axes of social oppression cross-cut each other. Though intersectionality is often described through metaphor, theories of intersectionality can be formulated using the tools of contemporary analytic metaphysics. A central tenet of intersectionality theory, that intersectional identities are inseparable, can be framed in terms of explanatory unity. Further, intersectionality is best understood as metaphysical and explanatory priority of the intersectional category over its constituents, akin to metaphysical priority of the whole over its parts. This essay focuses on some of the main challenges that currently face the sociology of sport, the challenge from the natural sciences, the challenge from mainstream sociology and the challenge which we have set ourselves and which, requires new intellectual innovations of the type discussed in the final sections of this essay. It is vital that the sociology of sport be defended against the tyranny of the natural sciences. This project, however, must not be disaggregated from the requirements to fight for greater acceptance from mainstream sociology and to address our own shortcomings by extending the sociology of sport in potentially exciting ways. In this respect, both memory and space present interesting possibilities. They are highlighted in this essay, from among numerous possible alternatives, for largely personal reasons. In this paper, we use concepts from actor-network theory (ANT) to interpret the sequence of events that led to business process change (BPC) failure at a telecommunications company in the United States. Through our intensive examination of the BPC initiative, we find that a number of issues suggested by ANT, such as errors in problematization, parallel translation, betrayal, and irreversible inscription of interests, contributed significantly to the failure. We provide nine abstraction statements capturing the essence of our findings in a concrete form. The larger implication of our study is that, for sociotechnical phenomena such as BPC with significant political components, an ANT-informed understanding can enable practitioners to better anticipate and cope with emergent complexities. This research investigates how framing moderates the use of message cues on performance risk evaluations. Understanding the moderating impact of the frame is important from a theoretical perspective as the frame is a critical contingency factor in how evaluations are formed. This research extends previous results by testing whether framing affects the use of other extrinsic cues, determining the effect when there are multiple extrinsic cues, determining the impact when extrinsic information is not explicitly provided, and providing evidence that positively framed messages engender more thorough analysis of message cues than negatively framed messages and affect how extrinsic cues are used. This paper seeks to extend the analytical scope of qualitative inquiry and our understanding on the analysis of stories we elicit and collect in the domains of sport and physical activity. Painting with broad strokes, we consider fi ve ways in which narratives can be analyzed to incorporate the hows and the whats of their telling. These are an analysis of conversation, an analysis of discourse, an analysis of how narratives are performed, an analysis of content, and an analysis of structure. In all sections, various strengths and weaknesses of each approach are identifi ed and exemplars are provided. The paper closes by suggesting that researchers might consider using a variety of analyses in order to assist them to understand the complexities of the social world in different ways. Marketers often segment consumers on factors such as age, gender, income, stage of life, and geography. Another innovative approach is to group consumers into cohorts. Cohorts are groups of individuals who are born and travel life together and experience similar external events during their late adolescent/early adulthood years. These events influence people to create values, attitudes, and preferences that remain with them for their lifetime. This article reviews and assesses the current literature on American cohorts. Since the events of the 'Arab Spring' in 2011, the field(s) of cultural production of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) have attracted considerable scholarly attention. However, the conceptual and methodological tools of cultural sociology, mostly developed for and through research in western societies, often have limited purchase when it comes to the empirical reality of cultural production in the MENA. This article proposes to introduce concepts from actor-network theory (ANT) in order to adapt Bourdieu's conceptual framework of analysis to the case of globally dominated, transnational and relatively unstable spaces of cultural production. Two main arguments are being pursued: (1) Conceiving the field as network(s) offers a way of opening up the rigid and nation-centred space to include transnational as well as transient relations between actors that may only briefly play a role in cultural production. (2) In a situation where the artwork is the most immediately visible expression of the field's structure, the role of objects in constituting the field must be reassessed. Signalling that 'humanity' has radically changed the Earth's environmental parameters, the Anthropocene currently generates debate across the socio-cultural sciences. In this context, neo-Marxist and new materialist approaches stand out for the way they oblige social theory to catch up with new material realities. We share the conviction that the Anthropocene might constitute a genuine event for social theory and practice. However, we argue that the search for alternative ways of problematizing and 'dramatizing' our eco-political predicament confronts these approaches with unresolved issues of scientism and economic totalization. Looking for another path, we turn to Science and Technology Studies (STS), and especially Actor-Network Theory (ANT). We relay the long-standing focus on nonhuman agency characteristic of this field via Isabelle Stengers' argument that we must 'accept' the reality of Gaia's intrusion into collective historicity. The challenge posed by Stengers, we suggest, requires the development of an art of immanent attention to the politics of varied matters as they unfold across diverse ecologies of practice. Extending further than the present preoccupations of Euro-American social theory, other areas within and across environmental history, activism and politics offer sites of resistance as well as experimentation whose conceptual possibilities and practical efficacies have yet to be explored. Slowing down theory sufficiently to learn from these multiple sites, we argue, is the starting point for an approach more adequate to the problems posed by the Anthropocene event. The article provides a narrative highlighting the tensions of teaching intersectionality in anti-racist university courses. It questions what it means when students who get "perfect scores" defining interlocking oppressions and hierarchies of entitlement. It interrupt a free market approach to the classroom and instead enact a feminist decolonial pedagogy based on queering, compassion, reflexivity, and attention to affective materiality.

As part of the post-multicultural era, transnationalism, super-diversity, cosmopolitanism and solidarity develop a sense of awareness to live in a complex society. This requests us to identify the epistemological barriers preventing us to produce new knowledge, since there is a raising consciousness that these new frameworks cannot be addressed with old policy maps. All share the need to go beyond methodological nationalism, and one of its by-products: multiculturalism. Methodological interculturalism is a promising epistemological lens through which to cluster this new diversity geography. It is a direct answer to the key question, what happens when the unit of analysis from which we argue about "how to live together" is diversity itself rather than a supposed us/we/unity/ majority/state/nation lens. The outcome is the recognition that super-diversity and transnationalism is a fact that we need to incorporate into our public culture, together with new normative claims of justice related to cosmopolitanism and solidarity. A computer-controlled facility is tested which operationalizes magnitude scaling (psychophysics) directly over a CRT screen. The author reports experimental findings comparing magnitude scaling with rating scales as attitude measures of advertisements and erotic pictures. Also, validity and reliability are examined by means of the structural equation approach. On the basis of the level of reliability and the degree of convergent/discriminant validity, magnitude scaling appears to be a valid and reliable alternative to rating scales. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cohort analysis is used to analyze the effects of aging and cohort succession on consumption of a product class. Cohort analysis is explained and a consumption study is reported. In the September 1977 issue of ASQ Gerald Salancik and Jeffrey Pfeffer presented an examination of need-satisfaction models of job attitudes. Their article included a description and evaluation of the theoretical characteristics of the model(s), an assessment of the empirical research relevant to the models, and an analysis of the practical implications of their position. This paper is a response to their views. It seeks to clarify a number of theoretical and metatheoretical issues raised, discussed, and confused by Salancik and Pfeffer, to present a more complete view of the data and concepts relevant to need theory than their examination does, and to expand the range of pragmatic and value questions raised by their presentation. The field of organizational behavior has begun to place undue emphasis on hypothesis testing and thereby underemphasize hypothesis generation. After suggesting several reasons for this, this paper reviews how useful research ideas are discovered and the prerequisites for hypothesis creation, and then catalogues hypothesis generation. Abstract Whilst theorizing and analyzing implicature has become very popular, work in this area has tended to focus in the area of conversational implicature. Meanwhile, the analysis of epistemology in applied linguistics has been dominated by the study of hedging, a model which posits that it is the addition of explicit linguistic devices that chiefly alters the strength of claims. In this paper I aim to demonstrate the importance of the more implicit perspective of implicature to the analysis of epistemic signaling in academic writing, through an empirical approach. Using a corpus of scientific writing from the field of genetics, a detailed analysis of propositions containing the string mutations in the gene encoding is described and I argue that the results of this analysis are more consistent with the theory of implicature rather than that of hedging as the model of the expression and nuancing of claims in genetics. Finally, I argue that the ontologically-driven approach taken in this study, being similar to that taken in disciplines such as the philosophy or sociology of science holds great promise for interdisciplinary work between these fields and that of applied linguistics. This paper presents insights into the leadership implications of recent shifts in a range of policy contexts towards notions of collaboration and partnership. The paper draws on empirical research into the formation and operation of government instituted networks in the context of education in Victoria, Australia. From 2001, School Networks and Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLEN) were implemented by the state government to support young people in their transition through school and into employment in a context of a risk society, a context where pathways into sustainable employment for young people, and others, had become more erratic. For comparative purposes, the paper also draws on published research into the implementation of joined-up approaches, including Primary Strategy Learning Networks (PSLN), in England. Using concepts from Actor-Network Theory (ANT), the paper argues for the value of considering the full range of actors - both human and non-human, real and unreal - involved in networking initiatives and proposes some thoughts on the implications of such a sociology of associations for both leadership and governance. In this article, we show that social science research on fertility and infertility consists of largely separate research traditions, despite shared interest in pregnancies and births (or lack thereof). We describe four ways these two traditions differ: (1) publication trajectories and outlets, (2) fields of study and major theoretical frameworks, (3) degree of attention to the other topic, and (4) language and definitions used. We then discuss why future integration of these bodies of research would be beneficial, outline potential steps toward rapprochement, and provide common areas of dialogue that could facilitate and enrich these bodies of research. We offer a more holistic framework using the reproductive career as an extension of existing lifecourse approaches in both fertility and infertility research. Abstract: In this commentary, we use the manuscripts in this volume as source material from which to highlight what we view as critical issues in integrating intersectionality with developmental science. In reading and meditating on the manuscripts, we abstracted two key themes that were evident, to some extent, in all of the manuscripts: (1) the disciplinary use of intersectionality as a theory and (2) the nature of development for an intersectional developmental science. These two themes reflect the current state of the integration of intersectionality with developmental science, in that they represent both areas of strength and success, but also areas of challenge and weakness. Individuals possessing minority status(es) often struggle with the issue of authenticity, asking, Am I good enough? Am I an expert? Am I a fraud? Here, we explore how this process of minimizing one's contribution to social change is manifest in what we refer to as the feminist impostor phenomenon. This project began as a bio-ethnographic sketch of the authors' feminist mentor, stalwart feminist activist and self-proclaimed "Detroit Snob," seeking to detail the triumphs and pitfalls of frontline feminism in Detroit, Michigan in the 1960s and 1970s. We adopted a narrative-reflexive analytic framework and conducted a series of narrative interviews in July 2014. Our initial goal was to draw on these interviews in order to explore the complex social constructions of community, focusing specifically on the relationship between being both a Detroit activist and a feminist activist. However, in the process of analyzing the qualitatively coded data and member checking our findings, we identified two additional insights, thus expanding our original inquiry. In addition to interrogating the complexity of frontline feminism in Detroit, we explicate the concept of feminist impostor phenomenon and further problematize the issues embedded within the telling of narrative lives. Bint Al-Huda is one of the contemporary Iraqi writers who has devoted his books to religious and social affairs and his stories are overflowing with the points that can be criticized from social perspective. In this article, we discuss about the social events in Fi Al-Moustashfy story, which include: The issue of Hijab, old maid (spinster), forced marriage, violence against women and the women’s westernization. So that we want to review them from cultural and sociological perspectives in order to draw a comprehensive illustration of Bint Al-Huda's collection of stories. Bint Al-Huda has defended women's rights, especially adolescent girls’ marriage in his books, and has tried to show the image of a Muslim girl who adheres to the ethics of Islam. This research has been formed in the framework of Islamic and ethical values, in which Islam has justified women the right to choosing in marriage; not only it dosen’t cause to women freedom negation according to Islamic principles and the rules that Islam has assumed about women's dress and ornament and contrary to the Islam enemies claims, but also prevents the corruption that comes from unveiling. This article discusses ethnographic insiderness. After juxtaposing insider and outsider ethnography, we suggest insider-ethnography requires a more nuanced and complete discussion for it to be better understood, theoretically and practically. Accordingly, we propose a model of insider-ethnography that suggests three relative levels of ethnographic insiderness exist. We use examples from extant ethnography to substantiate our model theoretically and empirically. Our analysis occurs at a time when calls for a more reflexive understanding of ethnography exist, but reflexive analysis of insider ethnography is sparse. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This is a story of community protest, natural landscape, and the conservation of a small area of National Trust land in North West England. Taking an ethnographic approach into the history of this conflict over the management of nature, this research examines contested perceptions of an area of countryside with the national designation of a “site of special scientific interest.” There is a disjuncture between policy-oriented “official” interpretations of the site as a “site of special scientific interest” needing conservation, which alludes to its historical identity, and local people’s sense of belonging to the place as it has evolved through benign neglect. Using an actor-network theory-based approach to the relationships between the different entities involved at this site, this article examines the different ways of caring for places and the implications of these for future generations. This study aims to determine innovation capacity of a firm and to investigate the correlations between performance outcomes and innovation types. In this study, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted to classify firms with respect to different novelty degrees of innovation activities in developing new products and the magnitude of market impact shortly after innovations have been introduced and then appraise the association between innovation types and performance outcomes. The data obtained from the Turkish industrial clusters show that the higher firm innovativeness in product and market with a wide-spread diffusion effect of innovations, the greater is the market and production performance. To the best of our knowledge, this study is one of the few studies applying the product-market growth matrix to determine/manage innovation portfolio of firms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From 1926 to 1928, Paul G. Cressey, a graduate student in sociology, assumed the role of ‘sociological stranger’ and frequented Chicago’s taxi-dance halls on a nightly basis. Under the guise of a paying customer, Cressey purchased dances, engaged in conversations and documented the life stories of many taxi dancers. In 1932, his revised thesis was published as The Taxi-Dance Hall: A Sociological Study of Commercialized Recreation and City Life. This article seeks to re-read Cressey’s original notes, research journals and ‘life histories’ of taxi dancers to show how class, ethnic and gendered power relationships often distorted his empirical investigation, which were reliant on undercover performance, subjective observations and misleading interviews. Finally, this essay seeks to ‘surface’ taxi dancers’ counternarratives to illuminate women’s own perspectives on the nature of their work, as well as their interpretations of workplace strategies, negotiations and personal motivations. Despite decades of development, Actor-Network Theory (ANT) continues to be characterized by a good deal of ambiguities and internal tensions. This situation has led to a suggestion that instead of one ANT it may be meaningful to speak of 'the ANT multiple'. Following this line of reasoning, this article aims to create a map of the variety of positions riding under the ANT banner. Based on an in-depth reading of ANT literature, seven different interpretations of ANT are identified and subjected to critical analysis while accommodating for the concerns of ANT proponents about the way ANT has been previously criticized. The results of the analysis serve to increase the reflexivity of both sides of the debate about their underlying assumptions, and provide suggestions how ANT could be employed, developed and criticized more productively in the future. A Queer Feminist on the Ethics of Sex," a book by Lynne Huffer on feminist fealty to intersectionality, is presented. Topics covered include questions on the value of an ethics of desubjectivation for individuals whose access to the Western subject of reason is blocked by necropolitical racialization, and the limitations of the eurocentric archive of Huffer.
