The number of microarousals (≥ 5 s) was negatively associated with positive mood at 6:30. The number of microarousals was significantly and positively correlated with the response time difference value of disengagement component of the selective attention task at around 7:30 (≥ 5 s and ≥ 7 s) and 9:00 (≥ 5 s). The number of microarousals (≥ 7 s) was significantly and positively correlated with the inaccuracy difference value of orientation component of the selective attention task at around 9:00.Conclusion: The number of EEG microarousals during sleep in healthy adults with mild sleep restriction was significantly and negatively related to their daytime positive affect while positively associated with the deterioration of disengagement and orientation of selective attention performance, but this link is dependent on the standard duration of microarousals, test time and the type of task.Keywords: microarousal, alertness, sustained attention, selective attention, sleep restriction

Literature has occasionally reported acute effects of office illuminance on cognitive performance during daytime. The current study was conducted to systematically investigate whether the type of task and level of task difficulty moderate the effect of daytime illuminance on cognitive functioning. Thirty healthy participants were assigned to high (∼1036 lux at eye level; melanopic EDI = 904 lux) vs. low (∼108 lux at eye level, melanopic EDI = 87 lux) illuminance (at 6500 K) during working hours, in which participants were tested on both easy and difficult versions of tasks probing sustained attention, response inhibition, conflict monitoring and working memory. Subjective sleepiness and mood were also measured. Results revealed that exposure to high vs. low illuminance significantly improved speed on the response inhibition task, and accuracy and speed on the working memory tasks. Moreover, when effects arose, these were moderated by task difficulty, consistently showing more pronounced effects for easy than for difficult trials. Notably, subjective sleepiness and negative mood remained unaffected by illuminance, and no statistically significant effects emerged for sustained attention and conflict monitoring. This study demonstrates that the diurnal cognitive effects of illuminance may be moderated by both types of cognitive task and task difficulty. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new algorithm for cylindrical Bessel functions that is similar to the one for spherical Bessel functions allows us to compute scattering functions for infinitely long cylinders covering sizes ka = 2 [Pi]a/[Lambda] up to 8000 through the use of only an eight-digit single-precision machine computation. The scattering function and complex extinction coefficient of a finite cylinder that is seen near perpendicular incidence are derived from those of an infinitely long cylinder by the use of Huygens's principle. The result, which contains no arbitrary normalization factor, agrees quite well with analog microwave measurements of both extinction and scattering for such cylinders, even for an aspect ratio p = l/(2a) as low as 2. Rainbows produced by cylinders are similar to those for spherical drops but are brighter and have a lower contrast.

The current–voltage (I–V) characteristics of CrNiCo alloy Schottky contacts on a molecular-beam epitaxy n-GaAs substrate have been measured over the temperature range of 130–330 K and have been interpreted based on the assumption of a Gaussian distribution of barrier heights due to barrier height inhomogeneities that prevail at the interface. It is shown that the occurrence of Gaussian distribution of then barrier heights is responsible for the decrease of the apparent barrier height &Fgr;[sub b0], increase of the ideality factor n and nonlinearity in the activation energy plot at low temperatures. A &Fgr;[sub b0] vs 1/T plot was drawn to obtain evidence of a Gaussian distribution of the barrier heights, and values of &Fgr;¯[sub b0](T=0)=1.02 eV and σ[sub 0]=0.105 V for the mean barrier height and zero-bias standard deviation, respectively, have been obtained from this plot. Thus, a modified ln(I[sub 0]/T[sup 2])-q[sup 2]σ[sub 0][sup 2]/2k[sup 2]T[sup 2] vs 1/T plot gives &Fgr;¯[sub b0](T=0) and A[sup *] as 1.02 eV and 5.13 A/cm2 K2, respectively, without using the temperature coefficient of the barrier height. It has been concluded that the temperature dependent I–V characteristics of the device can be successfully explained on the basis of a thermionic emission mechanism with Gaussian distribution of the barrier heights. Furthermore, a value of -0.305 meV/K for the temperature coefficient of the flat band barrier height has been obtained; this value for n-GaAs is in very close agreement with values in the literature. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the synchrony effect between chronotype and time of day on task switching and vigilance, and the effect of high illuminance on the performance of two chronotypes at their non-optimal time. Four 46 minute sessions were administrated on separate days, the illuminance (200 vs. 1200 lx at eye level) and time of day (1.5 hours vs. 10.5 hours after waking up) were manipulated within participants. We found that high illuminance (1200 lx) significantly decreased the latency switch cost only for evening type independent of time of day, and there was a trend that low illuminance (200 lx) was better for morning type to decrease latency switch cost compared with evening type. The high illuminance could decrease the subjective sleepiness significantly for both chronotypes at the later part of the experiment. No synchrony effect on task switching and vigilance was found in the present study. The results suggested that the effect of ambient light on task switching was modulated by chronotype. Current study enriched the research on the effect of ambient light on task switching. When setting the optimal light environment, we should considerate the individual difference such as chronotype. In low-dimensional electronic materials, the charge or spin ordering can be subtly controlled by specific mode or modes, giving rise to functioning states such as charge- and spin-density waves, Mott insulators, and superconductors. The coupling between the electrons and the atomic lattice can be effectively investigated by ultrafast optical, photoemission, and electron diffraction techniques providing detailed description of microscopic and collective state evolutions in separate electronic and lattice subsystems. However, the electronic and phononic relaxation time scales obtained from these techniques are often distinctly different in low-dimensional electronic materials, even in a system as simple as graphite. Here, we seek to understand their origins from examining the nonequilibrium scenarios considering anisotropic electron-phonon coupling leading to hot phonons, which can be investigated directly from the momentum-dependent scattering changes in the transmission ultrafast electron crystallography. A three-temperature model is constructed to achieve unified understandings combining ultrafast spectroscopy and diffraction results of the nonadiabatic optically driven dynamics in graphite, charge-density waves in CeTe3, and the Mott insulator VO2. Using optical, TEM, and ultrafast electron diffraction experiments we find that single crystal V02 microbeams gently placed on insulating substrates or metal grids exhibit different behaviors, with structural and metal-insulator transitions occurring at the same temperature for insulating substrates, while for metal substrates a new monoclinic metal phase lies between the insulating monoclinic phase and the metallic rutile phase. The structural and electronic phase transitions in these experiments are strongly first order and we discuss their origins in the context of current understanding of multiorbital splitting, strong correlation effects, and structural distortions that act cooperatively in this system. We present a general formalism of ultrafast diffractive voltammetry approach as a contact-free tool to investigate the ultrafast surface charge dynamics in nanostructured interfaces. As case studies, the photoinduced surface charging processes in oxidized silicon surface and the hot electron dynamics in nanoparticle-decorated interface are examined based on the diffractive voltammetry framework. We identify that the charge redistribution processes appear on the surface, sub-surface, and vacuum levels when driven by intense femtosecond laser pulses. To elucidate the voltammetry contribution from different sources, we perform controlled experiments using shadow imaging techniques and N-particle simulations to aid the investigation of the photovoltage dynamics in the presence of photoemission. We show that voltammetry contribution associated with photoemission has a long decay tail and plays a more significant role in the nanosecond timescale, whereas the ultrafast voltammetry are dominated by local charge transfer, such as surface charging and molecular charge transport at nanostructured interfaces. We also discuss the general applicability of the diffractive voltammetry as an integral part of quantitative ultrafast electron diffraction methodology in researching different types of interfaces having distinctive surface diffraction and boundary conditions. The existence and importance of patients with low penile buckling pressure and normal penile hemodynamic status have been recently recognized. We assessed the ratio of inadequate erection for vaginal penetration (low buckling pressure) in patients with normal penile vascular system proved with penile Doppler ultrasonography. A total of 101 patients with normal penile vascular status were retrospectively scrutinized dependent on penile axial rigidity (buckling pressure). Ninety patients had sufficient penile axial rigidity (≥ 550 g) whereas in the remaining 11 patients (11%) inadequate penile buckling pressure for vaginal penetration (<550 g) was determined. Penile geometric and mechanical properties should not be overlooked during the evaluation of penile vascular system lest the patient be incorrectly diagnosed as having psychogenic impotence. The electron-phonon mechanism that gives rise to various charge-ordered systems is often controversial because of the cooperative nature of the transformation, and because the structural aspect of the transformation is generally poorly understood. Using femtosecond electron crystallography, we reveal a two-step (≈400 fs and 3.3 ps) suppression of the structural order parameter of a two-dimensional charge-density wave (CDW) that clearly decouples from its electronic counterpart following fs optical quenching. Through atomic fluctuational analysis on Bragg reflections and satellite features, we identify important momentum-dependent electron-phonon couplings appearing on both time scales that may be related to interactions between the unidirectional CDW collective modes, the lattice phonons, and the perturbed electronic subsystem. We show that the characteristic time scales of these couplings and relative fluctuational amplitudes as characterized by fs crystallography jointly determine the cooperativity between the electronic and structural subsystems, and from this it is possible to elucidate the underlying mechanism of the charge-ordered system. The morphological characteristics of the foot arch and the plantar soft tissue thickness are pivotal in assessing foot health, which is associated with various foot and ankle pathologies. By applying deep learning image segmentation techniques to lateral weight-bearing X-ray images, this study investigates the correlation between foot arch morphology (FAM) and plantar soft tissue thickness (PSTT), examining influences of age and sex. Specifically, we use the DeepLab V3+ network model to accurately delineate the boundaries of the first metatarsal, talus, calcaneus, navicular bones, and overall foot, enabling rapid and automated measurements of FAM and PSTT. A retrospective dataset containing 1497 X-ray images is analyzed to explore associations between FAM, PSTT, and various demographic factors. Our findings contribute novel insights into foot morphology, offering robust tools for clinical assessments and interventions. Light can influence many psychophysiological functions beyond vision, including alertness, circadian rhythm, and sleep, namely the non-image forming (NIF) effects of light. Melanopic equivalent daylight illuminance (mel-EDI) is currently recommended as the predictor of the NIF effects of light. Although light dose is also critical for entraining and regulating circadian cycle, it is still unknown whether relatively low mel-EDI light exposure for prolonged duration in the evening would affect pre-sleep arousal and subsequent sleep. In all, 18 healthy college students (10 females, mean [standard deviation] age 21.67 [2.03] years) underwent 2 experimental nights with a 1 week interval in a simulated bedroom environment. During experimental nights, participants were either exposed to high or low mel-EDI light (73 versus 38 lx mel-EDI, 90 versus 87 photopic lx at eye level, 150 photopic lx at table level) for 3.5 h before regular bedtime, and their sleep was monitored by polysomnography. Subjective sleepiness, mood, and resting-state electroencephalography during light exposure were also investigated. Results showed no significant differences in sleep structure and sleep quality between the two light conditions, whereas 3.5 h of exposure to high versus low mel-EDI light induced marginally higher physiological arousal in terms of a lower delta but higher beta power density before sleep, as well as a lower delta power density during sleep. Moreover, participants felt happier before sleep under exposure to high versus low mel-EDI light. Background: Despite being a stable component of burn rehabilitation at later stages of recovery, exercise training is not commonly provided during the acute phase of burns. A lack of evidence surrounding its efficacy and safety in severely burned adults has hampered its implementation in acute burn care. The aim of this study was to investigate the capacity of early exercise training to modulate parameters of postburn muscle wasting and quality of life., Methods: Adults <65 years of age with burns ≥40% total burn surface area (TBSA) were randomly allocated to either receive early exercise (n = 29) in addition to standard care or standard care alone (n = 29). Early exercise involved resistance and aerobic training, which commenced as early as possible and lasted for a duration of 6 to 12 weeks, in line with burn center length of stay. Ultrasound-derived quadriceps muscle layer thickness (QMLT) and rectus femoris cross-sectional area (RF-CSA), lower limb muscle force, Eurocol Quality of Life-5 Dimensions and Burn Specific Health Scale Brief (BSHS-B) were assessed 6 and 12 weeks after baseline. Mixed models were fitted to compare between-group changes over time., Results: A total of 58 adults [42 (95% confidence interval 40-45) years old; 40-94% TBSA range, 86% previously mechanically ventilated] participated in this study. Exercise commenced 7 days [IQR (interquartile range) 5-9] after burn center admission with an attendance rate of 93%. Allocation to the exercise group had a protective effect on the loss of muscle size from baseline to 6 weeks of follow-up (QMLT: β-coefficient: 0.05 cm, p  = 0.010; RF-CSA: β-coefficient: 0.05 cm 2 , p  = 0.045), and resulted in an improved recovery from 6 to 12 weeks (QMLT: β-coefficient: 0.04 cm, p  = 0.01; RF-CSA: β-coefficient: 0.06 cm 2 , p  < 0.001). Muscle force increased significantly more in the exercise group than in the control group (β-coefficient: 3.102 N, p  < 0.001) between 6 and 12 weeks. Besides a marginally significant effect for the BSHS-B domains 'affect' and 'interpersonal relationships' between 6 and 12 weeks, no benefits were observed in the other assessed quality-of-life measures. Objectives: Previous research has highlighted a link between electronic media use and sleep outcomes, but the nuanced impacts of screen use at different time of day and activities on adolescent sleep are underexplored., Methods: 831 participants underwent online assessment three times with interval of three months regarding their screen time and activities at specific times of the day, daytime sleepiness was assessed with the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and sleep outcomes were assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Insomnia Severity Index. The associations between time spent on various screen activities, and sleep outcomes were examined respectively after controlling for inter-individual differences using the Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model models and LMMs., Results: The RI&#95;CLPM model revealed that both electronic screen time during daytime and after lights off in the evening in Wave1 negatively predicted the sleep quality in Wave2; the nighttime screen time before lights off in Wave1 significantly negatively predicted the seventy of insomnia in Wave2. Whereas no cross-lag and predictive effects of sleep outcomes on screen time were revealed. Moreover, daytime screen exposure, including T.V. watching and social media use, and nighttime music listening were negatively associated with sleep quality. Conversely, nighttime screen time of shopping and working/studying positively influenced sleep quality. Additionally, daytime screen time of T.V. viewing was positively associated with increased insomnia severity, whereas nighttime work/study-related screen time negatively affected insomnia severity. Hydroformylation of olefins is widely used in the chemical industry due to its versatility and the ability to produce valuable aldehydes with 100% atom economy. Herein, a hybrid phosphate promoter was found to efficiently promote rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation of styrenes under remarkably mild conditions with high regioselectivities. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that the weak coordination between the Rhodium and the P=O double bond of this pentavalent phosphate likely induced exceptional reactivity and high ratios of branched aldehydes to linear products.

Background: This study aims to investigate the behavioral and neurophysiological changes accompanying the empathy for pain among individuals with insomnia in nonclinical samples, which has been scarcely explored in the existing literature despite the deleterious effects of sleep disturbance on social behavior, and interactions had been well-documented., Methods: Twenty-one individuals with insomnia in nonclinical samples and 20 healthy individuals as normal controls participated in the study. Electroencephalograph (EEG) was continuously recorded, while the participants underwent an empathy for pain task., Results: Subjective ratings of pain for painful and non-painful images revealed no statistically significant differences between the insomnia and control groups. The painful images induced a smaller P2 compared to non-painful images in the insomnia group, whereas no such difference was revealed for the controls. Moreover, a higher power density of the alpha and theta2 bands in the posterior brain regions was found in the insomnia group compared to the control group., Conclusion: These findings suggest that individuals with insomnia exhibit altered neurophysiological responses to pain stimuli and a lower capacity to share empathy for pain. The deleterious effects of sleep loss on sleep-dependent memory and emotional function have been documented in the current literature. Yet, the effects of insomnia-induced chronic sleep disturbance on emotional short-term memory have been scarcely investigated. Twenty-one participants with subclinical insomnia disorder (SID) and 20 healthy participants (healthy control, HC) performed a delayed recognition task of emotional faces, and event-related potentials (ERPs) involved in memory encoding, retention, and retrieval of faces across different emotional valences were assessed. Behavioral findings revealed that participants in the SID group had a larger response bias, being more likely to perceive negative faces as "old" faces presented in the retrieval phase than those in the HC group. ERP findings revealed that emotional faces in the SID vs. HC group induced significantly smaller P1 and late P3b and larger N170 amplitudes in the encoding phase and smaller negative slow wave (NSW) in the retention phase. In retrieval phase, the interaction between Sleep group and Valence were revealed for P1 and early P3b amplitudes, but no group differences were found after Bonferroni correction. Heart rate variability (HRV) is derived from the R-R interval, which depends on the precise localization of R-peaks within an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. However, current algorithm assessment methods prioritize the R-peak detection's sensitivity rather than the precision of pinpointing the exact R-peak positions. As a result, it is of great value to develop an R-peak detection algorithm with high-precision R-peak localization. This paper introduces a novel R-peak localization algorithm that involves modifications to the well-established Pan-Tompkins (PT) algorithm. The algorithm was implemented as follows. First, the raw ECG signal $ X\left(i\right) $ was band-pass filtered (5-35 Hz) to obtain a preprocessed signal $ Y\left(i\right) $. Second, $ Y\left(i\right) $ was squared to enhance the QRS complex, followed by a 5 Hz low-pass filter to obtain the QRS envelope, which was transformed into a window signal $ W\left(i\right) $ by dynamic threshold with a minimum width of 200 ms to mark the QRS complex. Third, $ Y\left(i\right) $ was used to generate QRS template $ T\left(n\right) $ automatically, and then the R-peak was identified by a template matching process to find the maximum absolute value of all cross-correlation values between $ T\left(n\right) $ and $ Y\left(i\right) $. The proposed algorithm achieved a sensitivity (SE) of 99.78%, a positive prediction value (PPV) of 99.78% and data error rate (DER) of 0.44% in R-peak localization for the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database. The annotated-detected error (ADE), which represents the error between the annotated R-peak location and the detected R-peak location, was 8.35 ms for the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database. These results outperformed the results obtained using the classical Pan-Tompkins algorithm which yielded an SE of 98.87%, a PPV of 99.14%, a DER of 1.98% and an ADE of 21.65 ms for the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database. It can be concluded that the algorithm can precisely detect the location of R-peaks and may have the potential to enhance clinical applications of HRV analysis.

Purpose: To assess the consistency of Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) lexicon interpretation between senior and junior sonologists and to investigate its impact on O-RADS classification and diagnostic performance., Methods: We prospectively studied 620 patients with adnexal lesions, all of whom underwent transvaginal or transrectal ultrasound performed by a senior sonologist (R1) who selected the O-RADS lexicon description and O-RADS category for the lesion after the examination. Meanwhile, the junior sonologist (R2) analyzed the images retained by R1 and divided the lesion in the same way. Pathological findings were used as a reference standard. kappa (к) statistics were used to assess the interobserver agreement., Results: Of the 620 adnexal lesions, 532 were benign and 88 were malignant. When using the O-RADS lexicon, R1 and R2 had almost perfect agreement regarding lesion category, external contour of solid lesions, presence of papillary inside cystic lesions, and fluid echogenicity (к: 0.81-1.00). Substantial agreement in solid components, acoustic shadow, vascularity and O-RADS categories (к: 0.61-0.80). Consistency in classifying classic benign lesions in the O-RADS category was only moderate (к = 0.535). No significant difference in diagnostic performance between them using O-RADS (P = 0.1211)., Conclusion: There was good agreement between senior and junior sonologists in the interpretation of the O-RADS lexicon and in the classification of O-RADS, except for a moderate agreement in the interpretation and classification of classic benign lesions. The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset - with data collected between 2020 and 2022 - to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis indicated that full scalar invariance was upheld across all nations, languages, gender identities, and age groups, suggesting that the unidimensional BAS-2 model has widespread applicability. There were large differences across nations and languages in latent body appreciation, while differences across gender identities and age groups were negligible-to-small. Additionally, greater body appreciation was significantly associated with higher life satisfaction, being single (versus being married or in a committed relationship), and greater rurality (versus urbanicity). Across a subset of nations where nation-level data were available, greater body appreciation was also significantly associated with greater cultural distance from the United States and greater relative income inequality. Objective: To investigate the influence of muscle energy technology (MET) combined with Maitland joint mobilization surgery on the elbow joint flexion function in patients with deep burn of elbow joint. Methods: A retrospective controlled clinical trial was conducted. From January 2020 to January 2022, 53 patients with elbow joint flexion dysfunction after deep burns who met the inclusion criteria were treated in Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University & Wuhan Third Hospital, including 32 males and 21 females, aged (37±12) years. According to the treatment method used, the patients were divided into conventional treatment alone group (15 cases), conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group (18 cases), and conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery+MET group (20 cases). Before treatment and 2 months after treatment, the patient's elbow joint range of motion was measured using a protractor, the Mayo elbow joint function score was used to evaluate elbow joint function, a portable muscle strength tester was used to measure elbow extensor muscle strength, and visual analogue scale was used to evaluate pain degree. Data were statistically analyzed with one-way analysis of variance, least significant difference test, paired sample t test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Wilcoxon signed rank-sum test, chi-square test, Fisher's exact probability test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: After two months of treatment, the elbow joint range of motion and elbow joint function scores of patients in conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group and conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery+MET group ((103±12)° and 60 (50, 66), (131±14)° and 73 (65, 80)) were significantly larger and higher than those in conventional treatment alone group ((77±15)° and 45 (35, 50), P values all <0.05), respectively. The elbow joint range of motion and elbow joint function scores of patients in conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery+MET group were significantly larger and higher than those in conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group ( P values all <0.05), respectively. After two months of treatment, the elbow extensor muscle strength and pain score of patients in conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery+MET group were respectively significantly larger and lower than those in conventional treatment alone group and conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group ( P values all <0.05). The elbow extensor muscle strength and pain score of patients in conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group were similar to those in conventional treatment alone group ( P >0.05). The elbow joint range of motion and elbow extensor muscle strength (with t values of 9.37, 25.54, 28.71, 6.70, 7.20, and 7.01, respectively, P <0.05), elbow joint function scores and pain scores (with Z values of 3.15, 3.63, 3.93, 3.30, 3.52, and 3.84, respectively, P <0.05) of patients in conventional treatment alone group, conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery group, and conventional treatment+joint mobilization surgery+MET group after two months of treatment were significantly improved compared with those before treatment. Conclusions: The combination of MET and Maitland joint mobilization surgery can effectively improve elbow joint range of motion, elbow joint function, elbow extensor muscle strength, and pain of patients with deep elbow joint burns, therefore it is worthy of promotion.

The relationship between daytime light, especially morning light and sleep, has not been well documented. People who work in an office spend most of their time indoors and thus have less access to high-level daylight. The current study employed a field intervention approach to investigate whether exposure to 1.5 h of bright electric light in the early morning for 1 workweek would benefit sleep among students who spent most of their time in an office at the university. Twelve students (24.92 ± 1.78 years) underwent a 2 workday baseline measurement and two inconsecutive 5 workday interventions (with 1 week washout) with morning bright light and regular office light (1000 lx, 6500 K vs. 300 lx, 4000 K, at eye level). The sleep outcomes were recorded with actigraphy and a sleep diary. In addition, self-ratings of daytime sleepiness, mood, mental fatigue, perceived effort, and next morning sleepiness were measured each workday. The results showed that exposure to morning bright light versus regular office light yielded a higher sleep efficiency (83.82% ± 1.60 vs. 80.35% ± 1.57, p = 0.02), a smaller fragmentation index (15.26% ± 1.31 vs. 17.18% ± 1.28, p = 0.05), and a shorter time in bed (7.12 ± 0.13 vs. 7.51 ± 0.12, p = 0.03). Meanwhile, an earlier sleep onset time, shorter sleep latency, and lower morning sleepiness were observed after a 5 workday morning bright light intervention compared with the baseline (ps <0.05), no such benefit was found for self-ratings (ps >0.05). Spirodiphosphines have been successfully applied in various asymmetric catalytic transformations. However, controlling the coordinating conformations by the direct displacement of the spiro atom remains elusive. Herein, we report the application of Si-centered spirodiphosphine (Si-SDP) ligands in the enantioselective hydrosilylation/cyclization of 1,6-enynes. The Si-SDPs showed superior reactivity to existing C2-symmetric diphosphines, allowing the generation of a range of chiral pyrrolidines with high yields and enantioselectivity (up to 96% yield and 92% ee) at room temperature with low catalyst loading. The palladium-catalyzed intramolecular hydroaminocarbonylation of 2-(1-methylvinyl)aniline derivatives has been achieved using dppp (1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane) as a ligand under hydrogen-free conditions. The reaction involves the generation of an active palladium hydride species with a catalytic amount of TsOH. This amide bond formation reaction was applied to the synthesis of various 4-substituted 3,4-dihydroquinolone derivatives with both high yield and regioselectivity.

Objective: To assess the feasibility of fetoscopy-guided bipolar umbilical cord coagulation for selective fetal reduction in complicated monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twin pregnancies., Methods: MCDA twins undergoing fetoscopy-guided bipolar cord coagulation (BCC) were enrolled prospectively between December 2015 to March 2020 in a fetal medicine center., Results: Twenty-three cases undergoing fetoscopy-guided BCC were finally analyzed, including 11 cases for type 2 selective intrauterine growth restriction, 4 cases for twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and 8 cases for a severe discordant anomaly. The overall survival rate was 78.3% (18/23)., Conclusions: Fetoscopy-guided BCC is effective for selective fetal reduction in complicated monochorionic twin pregnancies.

Ambient light plays a key role in social interactions, and the effects of ambient light on explicit altruism have been widely documented. However, whether ambient light affects implicit altruism and the potential mechanisms underlying the effect remain largely unknown. The current study aimed to explore the effects of ambient illuminance on explicit and implicit altruism simultaneously, and to determine the potential mediation role of subjective mood, state self-control perceived anonymity and satisfaction with light. A one-factor (Illuminance: dim (100 lx) vs. bright (1000 lx) at eye level), between-subjects design was employed in the current study, during which seventy-eight undergraduates (52 females, 18-25 years old) were assigned to two groups, with participants in each group undergoing both the dictator game assessing explicit altruism and the implicit association test (IAT) assessing implicit altruism under one of two illuminance conditions. Meanwhile, subjective mood, state self-control, perceived anonymity and satisfaction with light were also assessed with questionnaires at the beginning or/and at the end of the experiment. Results revealed that participants tended to allocate more money in the dictator game and showed a higher state self-control, satisfaction with light and lower perceived anonymity under bright versus dim illuminance condition, whereas the performance in IAT and subjective mood revealed no statistically significant effects of illuminance. The promoting effect of bright illuminance on explicit altruism was partially mediated by perceived anonymity and satisfaction with light, but not by state self-control. These findings suggest that ambient light holds the potential to regulate psychological well-being and thus facilitate prosocial behavior, but such benefits are dependent on the type of task.

The relationship between sleep and memory consolidation has not been fully revealed. The current study aimed to investigate how a brief afternoon nap contributed to the consolidation of declarative and procedural memory by exploring the relationship between sleep characteristics (i.e., the durations of sleep stages and slow oscillation, slow-wave activity, and spindle activity extracted from sleep) and task performance and the relationship between delta, theta, alpha, and beta bands extracted from wake during task performance and task performance. Twenty-three healthy young adults underwent a paired associates learning task and a sequential finger-tapping task with easy and difficult levels and were tested for memory performance before and after the intervention (i.e., an about 30-min nap or stay awake). Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals were continously recorded during the whole experiment. Results revealed that a short afternoon nap improved movement speed for the procedural memory task, regardless of the task difficulty, but unaffected the performance on the declarative memory task. Besides, the improvement in movement speed for the easy procedural memory task was positively correlated with slow-wave activity (SWA) during non-rapid-eye-movement (NREM) sleep but negatively correlated with slow oscillation and spindle activity during sleep stage 2 and NREM sleep, and the improvement in the difficult procedural memory task correlated positively with SWA during NREM sleep. Moreover, performance on the easy declarative and procedural memory tasks was negatively correlated with the relative power of alpha or theta; whereas the alpha band was positively correlated with the difficult declarative memory performance. Taking a short midday nap has been associated with higher alertness and better cognitive task performance. Yet, the mechanisms associated with nap-dependent performance enhancement are unclear. The current study was conducted to explore the impact of physiological arousal during cognitive task and sleep architecture during a pre-task nap on post-nap behavioral outcomes. A within-subjects design (N = 18) was employed, in which participants either took a nap or remained awake for 40 min during the post-lunch period. The psychomotor vigilance test (PVT) and n-back task were administered to assess sustained attention and working memory, respectively, with each task including one block of easy trials and one block of difficult trials. Results showed that a short midday nap improved sustained attention but not working memory. In addition, a midday nap induced lower physiological arousal during the performance on both cognitive tasks, with relatively higher delta and lower beta activity. The relative power of theta and alpha were positively correlated with performance on the easy PVT, whereas the alpha power was negatively correlated with performance on the difficult PVT, and the theta power was negatively correlated with reaction speed in the n-back task regardless of the task difficulty. Meanwhile, the shorter total sleep time and longer time of wake after sleep onset were associated with the faster overall reaction speed in PVT easy trials. Natural product dimers have intriguing structural features and often have remarkable pharmacological activities. We report here two uncommon marine gorgonian-derived symmetric dimers, weizhouochrones A ( 1 ) and B ( 2 ), with indenone-derived monomers, that were isolated from the coral Anthogorgia ochracea collected from the South China Sea. These dimers are difficult targets for structure elucidation that solely relies upon conventional NMR data such as NOEs and J -couplings. Here, to explore the application of emerging methods on the structure elucidation of challenging molecules, we explored a number of different anisotropic and computational NMR approaches. The measurements of anisotropic NMR parameters of weizhouochrone A, including residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) and residual chemical shift anisotropy (RCSA), allowed us to successfully determine the planar structure and its relative configuration. This result was corroborated by a computational NMR analysis based on DP4+ probability and computer-assisted 3D structure elucidation (CASE-3D).

Heart rate variability (HRV), the indicator of the autonomic nervous system-induced modulation of heart rate, is a focal topic in psychophysiological research. The effect of indoor light on HRV may be related to various psychophysiological functions. The current study (N = 20) examined the response of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) to bright vs. dim blue-enriched light (1200 lx or 200 lx at eye level, 6500 K) exposure for five hours in the afternoon among healthy young adults. The results revealed a significant main effect of light condition on the time-domain indicators, with the significantly higher HRV (SDNN and RMSSD) under 200 lx versus 1200 lx condition, and the same case was revealed for the standard deviations of the Poincaré plot in non-linear effects. Conversely, no significant effects were revealed for the frequency- domain indicators of HRV measured with the subjects' eyes open. These findings suggested that the autonomic nervous system modulation of HRV was stronger under bright light conditions.

Objective: To explore the effects of bicycle ergometer rehabilitation training on quadriceps and walking ability of patients with lower limb dysfunction caused by extensive burns. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. A total of 40 patients with extensive burns who met the inclusion criteria and were admitted to Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University＆Wuhan Third Hospital from December 2017 to December 2020 were selected. According to the random number table, the patients were divided into conventional training group (16 males, 4 females, aged (45±10) years) and combined training group (13 males, 7 females, aged (39±8) years). Patients in conventional training group were given conventional rehabilitation therapy such as joint loosening, lower limb strength training, walking training, and pressure therapy, while patients in combined training group were given additional bicycle ergometer rehabilitation training on the basis of conventional rehabilitation. For patients in the 2 groups before and after a 2-month's treatment, the thickness of quadriceps was measured by ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, the muscle strength of quadriceps was measured by portable muscle strength tester, the walking ability was tested with a 6-min and a 10-meter walk tests, and the patients' satisfaction for treatment effects was assessed using the modified Likert scale. Data were statistically analyzed with independent or paired sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, or chi-square test. Results: After 2-month's treatment, the quadriceps thickness of patients in combined training group was (3.76±0.39) cm, which was significantly thicker than (3.45±0.35) cm in conventional training group ( t =2.67, P <0.05); quadriceps thickness of patients in conventional training group and combined training group after 2-month's treatment was significantly thicker than that before treatment (with t values of 5.99 and 8.62, respectively, P <0.01). After 2-month's treatment, the quadriceps muscle strength of patients in combined training group was significantly greater than that in conventional training group ( Z =2.69, P <0.01); quadriceps muscle strength of patients in conventional training group and combined training group after 2-month's treatment was significantly greater than that before treatment (with Z values of 3.92 and 3.92, respectively, P <0.01). After 2-month's treatment, the 6-min walking distance of patients in combined training group was (488±39) m, which was significantly longer than (429±25) m in conventional training group ( t =5.66, P <0.01); the 6-min walking distance of patients after 2-month's treatment in conventional training group and combined training group was significantly longer than that before treatment (with t values of 13.16 and 17.92, respectively, P <0.01). After 2-month's treatment, the 10-meter walking time of patients in combined training group was significantly shorter than that in conventional training group ( t =3.20, P <0.01); and the 10-meter walking time in conventional training group and combined training group was significantly shorter than that before treatment (with t values of 7.21 and 13.13, respectively, P <0.01). The patients' satisfaction score for treatment effects in combined training group was significantly higher than that in conventional training group ( Z =3.14, P <0.01), and the patients' satisfaction scores for treatment effects in conventional training group and combined training group after 2-month's treatment were significantly greater than those before treatment (with Z values of 3.98 and 4.04, respectively, P <0.01). Conclusions: Bicycle ergometer rehabilitation training can be used to improve quadriceps thickness, muscle strength, and walking ability of patients with lower limb dysfunction caused by extensive burns. It can also improve the satisfaction of patients with the treatment outcome, and therefore is worthy of promotion.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of 9. 4-T postmortem MRI (pm-MRI) for assessment of major congenital heart defects (CHD) cases terminated in the early stage of gestation., Methods: Fetuses with CHD detected by the detailed first-trimester ultrasound scan and terminated before 18 gestational weeks were recruited between January 2018 and June 2020. All fetuses were offered 9.4-T pm-MRI examinations and those terminated over 13 +6 weeks were offered conventional autopsies simultaneously. Findings of pm-MRI were compared with those of conventional autopsy and prenatal ultrasound., Results: A total of 19 fetuses with major CHD were analyzed, including 6 cases of the atrioventricular septal defect, 5 cases of Tetralogy of Fallot, 3 cases of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, 1 case of tricuspid atresia, 1 case of transposition of the great arteries, 1 case of severe tricuspid regurgitation, and 2 cases of complex CHD. Pm-MRI had concordant findings in 73.7% (14/19) cases, discordant findings in 15.8% (3/19) cases, and additional findings in 10.5% (2/19) cases when compared with prenatal ultrasound. Pm-MRI findings were concordant with autopsy in all 8 CHD cases terminated over 13 +6 weeks., Conclusion: It is feasible to exhibit the structure of fetal heart terminated in the first trimester clearly on 9.4-T pm-MRI with an optimized scanning protocol. We report the room-temperature Pd-catalyzed methoxy-carbonylation with high branched selectivity using a new class of bisphosphine-picolinamide ligands. Systematic optimization of ligand structures and reaction conditions revealed the significance of both the picolinamide and bisphosphine groups in the ligand backbone. This strategic design of ligand was leveraged to deliver various α-substituted acrylates in good to excellent yields.

Light can induce an alertness response in humans. The effects of exposure to bright light vs. dim light on the levels of alertness during the day, especially in the afternoon, as reported in the literature, are inconsistent. This study employed a multiple measurement strategy to explore the temporal variations in the effects of exposure to bright light vs. regular office light (1,200 lx vs. 200 lx at eye level, 6,500 K) on the alertness of participants for 5 h in the afternoon. In this study, 20 healthy adults (11 female; mean age 23.25 ± 2.3 years) underwent the Karolinska sleepiness scale (KSS), the auditory psychomotor vigilance test (PVT), and the waking electroencephalogram (EEG) test for two levels of light intervention. The results yielded a relatively lower relative delta power and a relatively higher beta power for the 1,200 lx condition in comparison with the 200 lx condition. However, the light conditions elicited no statistically significant differences in the KSS scores and performance with respect to the PVT. Objective: The Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic has evolved into the largest public health event in the world. Earlier COVID-19 studies have reported that the pandemic caused widespread impacts on mental health and sleep in the general population. However, it remains largely unknown how the prevalence of mental health problems and sleep disturbance developed and interacted in adolescents at different times in the epidemic., Methods: 831 teenagers (aged 14-19) underwent a longitudinal follow-up study to evaluate the prevalence of mental health problems and sleep disturbance among adolescents before, during, and after the COVID-19 breakout in China and to explore the interaction between mental health and sleep across the three measurements. The chronotype, anxiety and depression level, sleep quality, and insomnia were investigated during each measurement., Results: The adolescents had delayed sleep onset and sleep offset time, longer sleep duration during the quarantine than before and after the epidemic, whereas their chronotype tended to morning type during the epidemic. Yet, the highest prevalence of anxiety, depression, poor sleeper, and insomnia symptoms were observed before but not during the COVID-19 breakout. The females and adolescents who were eveningness type showed significantly higher anxiety and depression levels, poorer sleep quality, and severe insomnia status than the males and the intermediate and morning types. Sleep disturbance was positively associated with mental problems among three measurements. Pre-measured depression level significantly predicted sleep disturbance level at follow-ups., Conclusion: These findings suggested that adolescents' high prevalence of mental health and sleep problems occurred before the COVID breakout and decreased during and after the epidemic. Gender and chronotype were significant risk factors associated with affective and sleep disturbances. Single-atom Rh catalysts present superior activity relative to homogeneous catalyst in olefins hydroformylation, yet with limited success in regioselectivity control. In the present work, we develop a phosphorus coordinated Rh 1 single-atom catalyst with nanodiamond as support. Benefiting from this unique structure, the catalyst exhibits excellent activity and regioselectivity in hydroformylation of arylethylenes with wide substrate generality, i.e., with high conversion (>99%) and high regioselectivity (>90%), which is comparable with the homogeneous counterparts. The coordination interaction between Rh 1 and surface phosphorus species is clarified by 31 P solid-state NMR and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). Rh single atoms are firmly anchored over nanodiamond through Rh-P bonds, guaranteeing good stability in the hydroformation of styrene even after six runs. Finally, by using this catalyst, two kinds of pharmaceutical molecules, Ibuprofen and Fendiline, are synthesized efficiently with high yields, demonstrating a new prospect of single-atom catalyst in pharmaceutical synthesis., (© 2021. Previous research revealed inconsistent effects of bright light or a short nap at noon on alertness and performance across different tasks. The current study aimed to explore whether the effects of bright light and a short nap at noon on task performance depended on the cognitive domain. Bright light (1,200 lx, 4,000 K at eye level), nap (near darkness) and control (200 lx, 4,000 K at eye level) conditions were performed from 1:00 to 1:40 PM on three non-consecutive days with a counterbalanced order across participants. After being assigned to one of three conditions, participants underwent two repeated test sessions, each including a psychomotor vigilance task, a go/no-go task, and a paced visual serial addition task, with an interval of more than 1 h, to assess the persistent effects of napping and bright light. Subjective sleepiness, vitality, self-control and mood were also measured. Results showed that accuracy on the go/no-go task and the paced visual serial addition task improved significantly throughout the entire experiment session after napping, whereas reaction speed on the paced visual serial addition task improved time-dependently in the bright light intervention, with a higher reaction speed in only the first test session. Nearly all subjective states benefited from napping but not from bright light. These findings suggested that the effects of bright light and an afternoon nap on task performance would depend on the cognitive domain. The acute non-image forming (NIF) effects of daytime light on momentary mood had been-although not always-established in the current literature. It still remains largely unknown whether short-time light exposure would modulate emotion perception in healthy adults. The current study (N = 48) was conducted to explore the effects of illuminance (100 lx vs. 1000 lx at eye level) and correlated color temperature (CCT, 2700 K vs. 6500 K) on explicit and implicit emotion perception that was assessed with emotional face judgment task and emotional oddball task respectively. Results showed that lower CCT significantly decreased negative response bias in the face judgment task, with labeling ambiguous faces less fearful under 2700 K vs. 6500 K condition. Moreover, participants responded slightly faster for emotional pictures under 6500 K vs. 2700 K condition, but no significant effect of illuminance or CCT on negativity bias was revealed in the emotional oddball task. These findings highlighted the differential role of illuminance and CCT in regulating instant emotion perception and suggested a task-dependent moderation of light spectrum on negativity bias., (© 2021. The post-lunch dip in alertness and performance was widely experienced during the early afternoon. Taking a short nap was documented as a practical strategy for habitual nappers to counteract the decline of alertness and performance. Yet, it remains unknown whether bright light exposure in the early afternoon working hours could alleviate the performance deficits caused by a post-lunch nap loss for habitual nappers. Seventeen undergraduate students who had a long-term habit of taking a post-lunch nap were assigned to three interventions: (1) a short nap + normal indoor light (100 lx, 4,000 K at eye level); (2) no nap + normal indoor light, and (3) no nap + blue-enriched bright light (1,000 lx, 6,500 K at eye level), in which subjective alertness (Karolinska Sleepiness Scale, KSS), mood (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, PANAS), and task performance in sustained attention (psychomotor vigilance test, PVT), response inhibition (go/no-go task), and working memory (paced visual serial addition test, PVSAT) were measured. Results showed that a post-lunch nap deprivation significantly increased subjective sleepiness and negative mood and impaired performance in PVT and PVSAT, while exposure to bright blue-enriched white light vs. normal indoor light in the early afternoon significantly relieved such negative effects on mood, sleepiness, and performance in PVSAT; subjective positive mood and performance in PVT and go/no-go task remained unaffected with light intervention. Purpose: To summarize the outcomes of different surgical treatment modalities for cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) at a single institution over 8 years., Methods: A case series of patients diagnosed with CSP who were admitted to Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2011 to December 2018 was retrospectively studied. Medical records of all the patients were carefully reviewed. Data on patient demographics, pregnancy characteristics, treatment modalities, response to therapy, and subsequent pregnancy outcomes were collected and analyzed., Results: A total of 117 patients undergoing surgical treatments for CSP were included. Thirty-three patients (28.21%) underwent ultrasound-guided curettage; while, 74 (63.25%) and 10 (8.55%) patients received laparoscopy-monitored curettage and laparoscopic CSP resection, respectively. Most of the patients (21/33) who underwent ultrasound-guided surgery had type I CSP; while, 54 out of 84 patients who opted for laparoscopic surgeries had type II CSP. Eleven women underwent a uterine artery embolization procedure before the operation. There was no difference in the use of an intrauterine balloon for hemostasis among the three groups. Only 8 patients needed additional systemic methotrexate treatment. Twenty-four out of 57 women (42.11%) succeeded in conceiving again and gave birth to 21 healthy babies. Only 1 woman (1/24, 4.17%) experienced recurrence of CSP., Conclusions: These data indicated the safety and efficiency of ultrasound-guided curettage, laparoscopy-monitored curettage, and laparoscopic CSP resection for the treatment of CSP.

Objective: To observe the effects of balance training combined with routine training on patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunctions after severe burns. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From January 2016 to January 2020, sixty-four patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunction after severe burns who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University＆Wuhan Third Hospital. According to the random number table, the patients were divided into routine training (RT) group and combined training (CT) group. There were 32 cases in each group, 22 males and 10 females in RT group, aged 40.5 (35.5, 52.8) years, and 24 males and 8 females in CT group, aged 37.0 (30.0, 44.0) years. Patients in RT group performed conventional treatment including knee joint stretch, continuous passive motion, lower limb muscle strength training, and pressure therapy etc., while patients in CT group received balance training in addition to RT treatment including sitting balance, center of gravity transfer, pelvic stability, standing alternately on one leg, and standing on balance pad. Patients in both groups were treated for 4 months. Before treatment and after 4 months of treatment, the Berg Balance Scale, Lower Extremity Function Scale, and Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale were used to evaluate the balance function, lower limb function, and balance activity self-confidence of patients respectively. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, paired sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed rank test or chi-square test. Results: Before treatment, the Berg balance score of patients in RT group was (25±9) points, which was similar to (25±7) points in CT group ( t =-0.154, P >0.05). After 4 months of treatment, the Berg balance score of patients in CT group was (43±6) points, which was significantly higher than (40±6) points in RT group ( t =2.028, P <0.05). The Berg balance scores of patients in RT and CT groups after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment ( t =-15.189, -26.200, P <0.01). Before treatment, the lower limb function score of patients in RT group was 25.0 (16.5, 30.0) points, which was similar to 23.0 (10.3, 28.8) points in CT group ( Z =-1.575, P >0.05). After 4 months of treatment, the lower limb function score of patients in CT group was 55.0 (35.0, 60.0) points, which was significantly higher than 43.0 (36.0, 53.0) points in RT group ( Z =-2.744, P <0.01). The lower limb function scores of patients in RT and CT groups after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment ( Z =-4.943, -4.955, P <0.01). Before treatment, the balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in the two groups were similar ( t =-0.966, P >0.05). After 4 months of treatment, the balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in CT group was significantly higher than that in RT group ( t =3.343, P <0.01). The balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in RT and CT groups after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment ( t =-19.611, -34.300, P <0.01). Conclusions: Conventional treatment combined with balance training for patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunctions after severe burns can effectively promote the recovery of their lower limb motor and balance function.

Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From January 2016 to January 2020, sixty-four patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunction after deep burn were admitted to Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University＆Wuhan Third Hospital, the burn area was 30% to 70% Total Body Surface Area, and the burn depth of more than one hip, knee and ankle joint of both lower limbs and their periphery were deep second or third degree. According to the method of random number table, the patients were divided into routine training(RT) group and balance training(BT) group. There were 32 cases in each group, 22 males and 10 females in the RT group, aged 40.5 (35.5, 52.8) years old, and 24 males and 8 females in the BT group, aged 37.0 (30.0, 44.0) years old. Patients in group RT were conventionally conducted with knee joint stretch treatment, continuous passive motion treatment, lower limb muscle strength training and pressure therapy; while patients in group BT were conducted with balance training besides RT such as sitting balance, center of gravity transfer, pelvic stability, standing alternately on one leg and standing on balance pad. Patients in the 2 groups were treated for 4 months. Before treatment and after 4 months of treatment,Berg balance score, lower limb function score and balance activity self-confidence score were evaluated . The data were statistically analyzed with t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed rank test or χ ² test. Results: (1) Before treatment, the difference value of Berg balance score of patients in group RT was (25±9), which was similar to (25±7) in group BT( t =-0.154, P >0.05). After 4 months of treatment, the difference value of Berg balance score of patients in group BT was (43±6), which was higher than (40±6) in group RT ( t =2.028, P <0.05). The difference values of Berg balance scores of the patients in group RT and BT after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment( t =-15.189,-26.2, P <0.001). (2) Before treatment, the lower limb function score of patients in group RT was 25.0 (16.5,30.0), which was similar to 23.0(10.3,28.8) in group BT( Z =-1.575, P >0.05). After 4 months of treatment, the lower limb function score of patients in group BT was 55.0(35.0, 60.0) , which was significantly higher than 43.0 (36.0, 53.0) in group RT( Z =-2.744, P <0.01). The lower limb function scale of patients in group RT and BT after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment( Z =-4.943,-4.955, P <0.01). (3) Before treatment, the balance activity self-confidence scores of the two groups were similar( t =-0.966, P >0.05) . After 4 months of treatment , the balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in group ST was significantly higher than that in group RT ( t =3.343, P <0.01). The balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in groups RT and BT after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment( t =-19.611,-34.300, P <0.001). Conclusions: The balance training can effectively promote the recovery of lower limb motor and balance function on the basis of conventional rehabilitation treatment for patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunction after deep burns.
