CP limits movement, which can interfere with children’s daily activities. As a technology that provides intensive mass practice to children, virtual reality (VR) can create an interactive and motivating environment. With the intensity set by the therapist and feedback that can be used to produce individualized therapy, VR has great potential to improve CP patients’ quality of life, especially in a safe, enjoyable, and playful environment.Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to determine the effectiveness of VR for children with CP.Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search based on the PRISMA guidelines through PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Wiley, and ProQuest to assess the efficacy of VR in managing children with CP up to 15 September 2022. Risk assessment of bias was performed using Cochrane RoB 2.Results: Nineteen randomized controlled trials with 467 and 427 patients with CP were included in the intervention and control groups in qualitative and quantitative analyses. Participants consisted of cerebral palsy with hemiplegia (n=7), diplegia (n=2), a combination of both (n=4), and undefined (n=13). From all studies conducted, VR showed significant results where VR could improve balance (MD: 2.71[1.95, 3.48]; p < 0.00001), motor function (MD: 3.73 [1.67, 5.79]; p = 0.0004), and activity daily living (MD: 10.05 [2.89, 17.22]. However, VR showed not effective in improving upper limb function.Conclusion: With its advantages and excellent effectiveness, VR may improve functional mobility and the quality of life of children with CP.Keywords: balance, cerebral palsy, children, motor function, virtual reality

Introduction: College presents students with various new challenges, including changes in environment, learning methods, friendships, and other unfamiliar situations, potentially triggering mental health issues. Recent epidemiological data show that the prevalence of depression and stress among college students aged 18-24 years is 37.2% and 23.7%, respectively., Objective: This study aimed to determine the circumstances and factors affecting the quality of life, self-esteem, and stress of first-year undergraduate nursing students in Indonesia., Methods: In total, 300 nursing students were recruited to participate in a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional mental health survey to determine the quality of life, self-esteem, and stress levels of first-semester students across multiple nursing education centers. The instruments used in this study were the WHOQOL-BREF, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). Multiple linear regression was conducted to identify significant relationships between the variables. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with Microsoft Excel and SPSS, presenting results as regression coefficients and 95% confidence intervals., Results: The results of bivariate analysis in this study showed that health status, relevance of expectations, goals, and standards had a significant influence on quality of life ( p  < .05). In addition, our study found that self-esteem had a significant relationship with quality of life in first-semester student nurses ( p  = .010)., Conclusion: Based on the findings that first-semester nursing students experience moderate stress yet generally exhibit good self-esteem and quality of life, universities should prioritize assessments of students' physical and psychological well-being during their adaptation period. It is recommended to implement counseling services, enhance support from guardian lecturers, and foster positive engagement with parents to address the expectations and goals influencing students' quality of life. Objective: The present study examined the effects of a nurse-led family empowerment program on the quality of life of Palestinian pregnant adolescents., Methods: This was a randomized controlled trial with a two-group pre-/post-test design. The sample consisted of 58 pregnant adolescents recruited from six governmental primary health care clinics in Palestine. Participants were randomly allocated in equal numbers to either the control group (n = 29), which received routine care, or the experimental group (n = 29), which received both routine care and the study program. Data collection instruments included a demographic form and the WHO Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQoL-BREF). Data were collected twice: at 32 or 33 weeks' gestation to establish a baseline and at 36 or 37 weeks' gestation post-test. Statistical analyses were performed and included descriptive statistics, chi-square and t-tests., Results: The study findings indicated a significant increase in the mean quality of life scores of the experimental group in the post-test compared to the pre-test (P < 0.001). Additionally, pregnant adolescents in the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher post-test QoL scores than those in the control group (P < 0.001)., Conclusion: The nurse-led family empowerment program emerges as a viable and efficacious alternative intervention for improving the quality of life among Palestinian pregnant adolescents., Clinicaltrials: The study was registered with the NIH U.S. National Library of Medicine ClinicalTrials.gov on 01/09/2021 with the registration code NCT05031130. Background: Palliative care aims to improve quality of life for patients with end-stage illnesses by addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Early referral to palliative care improves patient outcomes, quality of life and overall survival in a variety type of cancers. This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitudes and perceived benefits of early integration of palliative care among oncology nursing., Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in public, private, and educational hospitals located in Palestine. Data were collected using paper based self-administered questionnaires from nurses working in hematology, general oncology, and bone marrow transplantation departments., Results: Among of 128 nurses, the study revealed a moderate level of knowledge (3.64 ± 0.96), Positive attitude (3.59 ± 1.02) and moderately recognized the perceived benefits of early palliative care (3.57 ± 1.02). A statistically significant difference in nurses' knowledge, attitudes and perceived benefits of early palliative care based on clinical experience. Pearson's correlation showed a significant positive relationship between the total knowledge and attitudes score (r = 0.211, p < 0.001), as well as with perceived benefits total score (r = 0.567, p < 0.001). Moreover, there was a significant positive relationship between the total attitude score and perceived benefits score (r = 0.303, p < 0.001)., Conclusions: These findings suggest that enhancing knowledge and highlighting the benefits of early palliative care integration could foster more favorable attitudes among oncology nurses. investing in education and training to have all nurses prepared to provide high-quality palliative care results in better patient outcomes and less suffering. Patients with advanced cancer should be referred to the palliative care teams at an early stage of treatment in conjunction with their treatment in order to improve patient outcomes and quality of life., Competing Interests: Declarations. Background: Breast cancer presents significant psychological challenges along with physical health concerns, particularly in settings where cultural and spiritual values play a critical role in patient care., Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a religious caring program on the psychological well-being of Indonesian females with breast cancer., Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and posttest control group design, conducted from January to July 2019 at a chemotherapy unit in Bandung, Indonesia. The patients with breast cancer were assigned to the experimental group ( n = 55) and the control group ( n = 57). Data were collected using the Psychological Well-Being Scale before and three weeks after the intervention. The data were analyzed using independent t -test and ANCOVA (Analysis of Covariance)., Results: There was a significant improvement in the mean psychological well-being score in the experimental group following the intervention compared to the control group, with the experimental group showing a significantly higher mean score (Cohen's d = 1.4548, p <0.001). None of the covariates significantly affected psychological well-being among the experimental group ( p > 0.05)., Conclusion: These results indicate that a religion-based caring program enhances psychological well-being. Background: The level of fasting blood glucose (FBG) is influenced by several factors, including health status, genetics, and diet. Some studies have reported a beneficial effect of Ramadan Intermittent Fasting (RIF) on diabetic patients. However, clinical observations have shown that diabetes is exacerbated in some patients., Aim: This study aims to investigate the influence of RIF on the FBG level, a biomarker of hyperglycemia and diabetes, and to identify factors associated with variations in FBG levels during RIF among diabetic patients., Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. We monitored the FBG levels of 181 type II diabetic patients over a two-month period, from 20 February to 20 April 2023, which represents the Islamic lunar months of Shaban (8th month) and Ramadan (9th month). Ramadan provides a prominent month of intermittent fasting practice for studying its physiological effects on diabetes. We collected clinical data from each participant, including demographic information, co-morbidities, and medications used during this period., Results: Based on our findings, diabetic patients were classified into three groups depending on the influence of RIF on FBG levels: the positively affected group (44%), whose average FBG levels were reduced; the neutrally affected group (24%), whose average FBG levels did not change; and the negatively affected group (32%), whose average FBG levels increased during the fasting month of Ramadan compared to the previous month. Furthermore, we found that the positive effect of RIF was more frequent among obese, non-geriatric, and male diabetic patients, while the negative effect of RIF was more frequent among patients who were not adhering to the medication., Conclusions: This study concludes that RIF affects FBG levels differently among diabetic patients. These findings should be taken into consideration when treating diabetic patients during the fasting month of Ramadan, and further studies are needed to identify (1) factors associated with inter-individual variation in the response to RIF and (2) those who are great candidates for RIF.
