Abstract Background Due to cardiotoxicity concerns, the concurrent use of epirubicin and trastuzumab has not been fully studied. This study aimed to examine the cardiotoxicity and pathological complete response (pCR) rate associated with the concurrent regimens in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)‐positive early breast cancer (EBC). Methods We conducted a systematic search for relevant literature in the NCBI/PubMed, the Cochrane database, and international conference abstracts for phase II or III randomized controlled trials between January 1, 2000, and February 28, 2021, focusing on the concurrent regimens in patients with HER2‐positive EBC. To compare the risk of cardiotoxicity and the odds of the pCR rate, we performed linear meta‐regression analyses to investigate the effects of multiple covariates. Results We analyzed 7 neoadjuvant trials involving the concurrent use of epirubicin and trastuzumab with 1797 patients. The median cumulative dose of epirubicin used was 300 mg/m2, with a total of 96 reported adverse cardiac events. The concurrent regimens did not result in a significant increase in cardiotoxicity compared to nonconcurrent regimens (risk ratio [RR] = 1.18, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.68–2.05). Compared with nonconcurrent or non‐anthracycline‐containing regimens, concurrent regimens were associated with a significant increase in the pCR rate (odds ratio = 1.48, 95% CI = 1.04–2.12). The linear fixed‐effects meta‐regression analysis indicated that in trials including more patients with hormone receptor‐positive EBC, the RR of cardiotoxicity significantly increased with concurrent regimens, and the pCR rate became less significant. Conclusions The combination of trastuzumab and a low dose of epirubicin positively impacted the pCR rate without a significant increase in cardiotoxicity. We recommend exploring concurrent regimens for HR‐negative, HER2‐positive tumors to enhance pCR rates, with caution advised for HR‐positive tumors due to potential cardiotoxicity.

Metronomic chemotherapy has shown encouraging efficacy and low toxicity in various tumor types and is one of the best treatment options for heavily pretreated patients or patients with advanced age and/or poor performance status. We demonstrated a patient with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma who experienced durable disease control under etoposide-based combination metronomic chemotherapy.

Reactive ion beam deposition was used to grow epitaxial and polycrystalline Fe3O4 films on MgO (100) and Si (100) substrates at room temperature. Verwey transition at 110 K was found on 195 nm epitaxial films, which significantly decline with the declining thickness.

(0002) Textured and epitaxial Zn[Co.sub.0.07]O films are fabricated at room temperature by ion beam deposition on Si substrates. The saturation magnetization and magnetoresistance ratios have depended on the carrier concentration and the epitaxial (00002) Zn[Co.sub.0.07]O films have showed room-temperature ferromagnetism.

The temperature dependence of Co anisotropy on a nano-Fe[O.sub.x] layer is analyzed in the structure of IrMn/Co/Fe[O.sub.x]/Co (FM2). An anisotropy transition of the FM2 is detected from a combination of uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropies at room temperature (RT) to unidirectional anisotropy at temperature below 80 K through field cooling process.

The temperature dependence of Co anisotropy on a nano-FeOx layer was studied in the structure of IrMn/Co (FM1)/FeOx/Co (FM2). AFM domains with TN higher than room temperature were responsible for the observed uniaxial anisotropy at RT and AFM domains with TN of 80 K were accountable for the anisotropy transition, below which the unidirectional anisotropy became dominant. Epitaxial (111) Fe3O4 film on the Cu underlayer was obtained by using reactive ion-beam sputtering with high incident energy at room temperature. X-ray φ scans and transmission electron microscope diffraction pattern revealed unusual 12-fold symmetry of the (111) Fe3O4 films on Cu s001d underlayers due to the presence of two kinds of epitaxial (111) grains in Fe3O4 films. The saturation magnetization of the 70 nm thick (1110 Fe3O4 films is 291 emu/cm3. A clear Verwey transition of Fe3O4 films was observed around 116 K. Epitaxial and polycrystalline Fe3O4 films were grown on MgO (100) and Si (100) substrates, respectively, at room temperature by using reactive ion beam deposition. The MS value of epitaxial Fe3O4 films was around 310 emu/cm3, and was almost independent of thickness from 45 to 195 nm. The MS value of polycrystalline films showed significant thickness dependence, which might be attributed to the formation of the initial layer. The Verwey transition at 110 K was observed on 195 nm epitaxial films, and decreased significantly with decreasing thickness. Under Basel II and Basel III accords, banks can use Internal-Rating-Based (IRB) approach to estimate their own loss given default (LGD). They need to consider a downturn LGD provided by Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) to address unexpected loss under the foundation IRB approach. Comparing our measure with the LGD of Basel foundation IRB approach (BLGD), we find DLGD of Taiwan' s companies are much lower than BLGD. This strict regulatory standard may lead to higher capital used and reduce more lending activities for Taiwan's bank sectors. We also verify the characteristic on DLGD by using the macro-factor and probability of default and obtain significant results. These research results not only calibrate LGD to past economic downturns but also build more accurate credit risk pricing for advanced Internal Rating Based (IRB). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-quality epitaxial ZnCo0.07O films deposited at room temperature were obtained by using reactive ion beam sputtering. Room- temperature ferromagnetic behavior of ZnCoO was observed with a coercivity of 70 Oe. We observed the loop shift at 5 K in the field-cooled samples of ZnCoO/Cu/IrMn and an enhanced coercivity in the zero-field-cooled samples, which indicated the existence of exchange coupling between ZnCoO and IrMn through a thin Cu layer (0.15 nm). Furthermore, the exchange field of ZnCoO was increased from 55 to 113 Oe by increasing the cooling field from 3 to 15 kOe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We analyzed anisotropy in IrMn/CoFe/FeOx/CoFe multilayers with angular remanence measurements. The results showed the coexistence of biquadratic and unidirectional anisotropies. A significantly asymmetric magnetization reversal had been observed. We studied the reversal mechanism by using vector coils and suggested that the switching in the decreasing branch comprised both coherent rotation and 90° domain wall motion; however, the switching in the increasing branch showed complicated multidomain rotation. We studied the interlayer coupling in the quadrilayer consisting of IrMn/CoFe (bottom layer)/NiFeOx/CoFe (top layer). An in-plane perpendicular interlayer coupling is observed between CoFe layers at room temperature. An anisotropy transition from uniaxial to unidirectional in a perpendicular direction is observed around Tt=55 K. The nano-oxide layer NiFeOx shows no distinguishable ferromagnetic signal in the high-temperature (uniaxial) phase, while a strong signal appeared in the low-temperature (unidirectional) phase. A possible two-component scenario, in which the nano-oxide layer may contain both amorphous short-range antiferromagnetic domains and superparamagneitc clusters, is proposed to explain the phase transition. We observed the coexistence of biquadratic and unidirectional anisotropy in the CoFe layer by inserting the nano-oxide-layer FeOx in the IrMn/CoFe bilayers. Analyses of X-ray magnetic circular dichroism suggested that the FeOx possessed ferromagnetic components. Mixed valence states of Fe, Fe2+ and Fe3+ were observed in the FeOx layer, which implied that both antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic components might co-exist in the FeOx layer. The uniaxial anisotropy in CoFe at 90° may originate from the interaction of CoFe with the antiferromagnetic components of the FeOx layer in the presence of interfacial magnetic roughness. The unidirectional anisotropy at 0° may result from the exchange biasing from the IrMn layer through the ferromagnetic components in the FeOx layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
