The purpose of this article is the analysis of barriers and facilitators to enrolling children with disabilities in inclusive daycare facilities. Data were gathered from nine (N = 9) mothers of children with diverse developmental disabilities who were admitted to inclusive daycare centres in Paris, France. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and analysed using the Inductive Thematic Analysis (Braun and Clarke [2006. "Using Thematic Analysis in Psychology." "Qualitative Research in Psychology" 3 (2): 77-101. doi: 10.1191/1478088706qp063oa]). The emerging themes related to barriers were: lack of inclusive practice training, perceived attitudes towards disability, daycare centre's directors' reluctance, and wider challenges on a community level. Facilitators included having a regular contact person, staff training, space adjustment of the daycare facility and adaptive equipment, inclusive daycare centre's project, getting and sharing information. Finally, further implications for practice and research are proposed.

INTRODUCTION: Grapevine leafroll-associated viruses (GLRaVs) and grapevine red blotch virus (GRBV) cause substantial economic losses and concern to North Americas grape and wine industries. Fast and accurate identification of these two groups of viruses is key to informing disease management strategies and limiting their spread by insect vectors in the vineyard. Hyperspectral imaging offers new opportunities for virus disease scouting. METHODS: Here we used two machine learning methods, i.e., Random Forest (RF) and 3D-Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), to identify and distinguish leaves from red blotch-infected vines, leafroll-infected vines, and vines co-infected with both viruses using spatiospectral information in the visible domain (510-710nm). We captured hyperspectral images of about 500 leaves from 250 vines at two sampling times during the growing season (a pre-symptomatic stage at veraison and a symptomatic stage at mid-ripening). Concurrently, viral infections were determined in leaf petioles by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based assays using virus-specific primers and by visual assessment of disease symptoms. RESULTS: When binarily classifying infected vs. non-infected leaves, the CNN model reaches an overall maximum accuracy of 87% versus 82.8% for the RF model. Using the symptomatic dataset lowers the rate of false negatives. Based on a multiclass categorization of leaves, the CNN and RF models had a maximum accuracy of 77.7% and 76.9% (averaged across both healthy and infected leaf categories). Both CNN and RF outperformed visual assessment of symptoms by experts when using RGB segmented images. Interpretation of the RF data showed that the most important wavelengths were in the green, orange, and red subregions. DISCUSSION: While differentiation between plants co-infected with GLRaVs and GRBV proved to be relatively challenging, both models showed promising accuracies across infection categories.

The emerging categories related to barriers were the challenges induced by the disability itself, childcare provider's emotional exhaustion and parental and childcare providers' perceptions on disability. Facilitators included space adjustment of the day care facility and adequate equipment, specialized inclusive practices, training programmes, support within the childcare team, skills recognition and sense of competence and, finally, partnerships and cooperation with specialized settings. Further implications for practice and research are discussed.

Total or partial replacement of traditional durum wheat semolina (DWS) by alternative flours, such as legumes or wholegrain cereals in pasta improves their nutritional quality and can make them interesting vector for fortification. Climate-smart gluten-free (C-GF) flours, such as legumes (bambara groundnut, chickpea, cowpea, faba bean, and pigeon pea), some cereals (amaranth, teff, millet, and sorghum), and tubers (cassava and orange fleshed sweet potato), are of high interest to face ecological transition and develop sustainable food systems. In this review, an overview and a critical analysis of their nutritional potential for pasta production and processing conditions are undertaken. Special emphasis is given to understanding the influence of formulation and processing on techno-functional and nutritional (starch and protein digestibility) properties. Globally C-GF flours improve pasta protein quantity and quality, fibers, and micronutrients contents while keeping a low glycemic index and increasing protein digestibility. However, their use introduces anti-nutritional factors and could lead to the alteration of their techno-functional properties (higher cooking losses, lower firmness, and variability in color in comparison to classical DWS pasta). Nevertheless, these alternative pasta remain more interesting in terms of nutritional and techno-functional quality than traditional maize and rice-based gluten free pasta. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Household air pollution is estimated to be responsible for nearly three million premature deaths annually. Measuring fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) may improve the limited understanding of the association of household air pollution and airway inflammation. We evaluated the cross-sectional association of FeNO with exposure to household air pollution (24-h average kitchen and personal fine particulate matter and black carbon; stove type) among 139 women in rural Honduras using traditional stoves or cleaner-burning Justa stoves. We additionally evaluated interaction by age. Results were generally consistent with a null association; we did not observe a consistent pattern for interaction by age. Evidence from ambient and household air pollution regarding FeNO is inconsistent, and may be attributable to differing study populations, exposures, and FeNO measurement procedures (e.g., the flow rate used to measure FeNO).

The basidiomycete yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides (also known as Rhodotorula toruloides) accumulates high concentrations of lipids and carotenoids from diverse carbon sources. It has great potential as a model for the cellular biology of lipid droplets and for sustainable chemical production. We developed a method for high-throughput genetics (RB-TDNAseq), using sequence-barcoded Agrobacterium tumefaciens T-DNA insertions. We identified 1,337 putative essential genes with low T-DNA insertion rates. We functionally profiled genes required for fatty acid catabolism and lipid accumulation, validating results with 35 targeted deletion strains. We identified a high-confidence set of 150 genes affecting lipid accumulation, including genes with predicted function in signaling cascades, gene expression, protein modification and vesicular trafficking, autophagy, amino acid synthesis and tRNA modification, and genes of unknown function. These results greatly advance our understanding of lipid metabolism in this oleaginous species and demonstrate a general approach for barcoded mutagenesis that should enable functional genomics in diverse fungi.

Local knowledge coproduction must be rewarded

Sarcopenic obesity (SO) is defined as the combination of excess fat mass (obesity) and low skeletal muscle mass and function (sarcopenia). The identification and classification of factors related to SO would favor better prevention and diagnosis. The present article aimed to (i) define a list of factors related with SO based on literature analysis, (ii) identify clinical conditions linked with SO development from literature search and (iii) evaluate their relevance and the potential research gaps by consulting an expert panel. From 4746 articles screened, 240 articles were selected for extraction of the factors associated with SO. Factors were classified according to their frequency in the literature. Clinical conditions were also recorded. Then, they were evaluated by a panel of expert for evaluation of their relevance in SO development. Experts also suggested additional factors. Thirty-nine unique factors were extracted from the papers and additional eleven factors suggested by a panel of experts in the SO field. The frequency in the literature showed insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, lack of exercise training, inflammation and hypertension as the most frequent factors associated with SO whereas experts ranked low spontaneous physical activity, protein and energy intakes, low exercise training and aging as the most important. Although literature and expert panel presented some differences, this first list of associated factors could help to identify patients at risk of SO. Further work is needed to confirm the contribution of factors associated with SO among the population overtime or in randomized controlled trials to demonstrate causality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Running a secondary school science department is one of the most complex and diverse leadership roles that exists in schools, particularly when compared to other middle leadership roles. The workplace health and safety responsibilities, in particular, has some very real legal (and human) consequences when science leaders do not understand their responsibilities. Yet, while school systems put significant resources into leadership training, there is very little in the way of training people to manage such complex legal issues. The Science Safety Essentials is an attempt to fill this gap by creating a set of documents that provides out-of-field science teachers and new science leaders with the essential information that they need in order to do their job in a way that is both safe and informs them of their legal responsibilities. This article provides a brief explanation of the Science Safety Essentials.
