Context Adequate maternal thyroid hormone is vital for fetal neurodevelopment. Abnormal thyroid function can cause developmental defects in offspring from spontaneous pregnancies; however, research in assisted reproduction is lacking. Objectives This work aimed to investigate the association between thyroid disorders and offspring neurodevelopment from assisted reproduction. Methods In this prospective and longitudinal birth cohort study (Jiangsu, China), we included 729 women who had their thyroid function tested before an assisted reproductive technology cycle and delivered liveborn babies between November 2015 and June 2020. Maternal thyroid function was assessed by measuring thyroid antibodies, free thyroxine, and serum thyrotropin. The third edition Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development screening test (Bayley-III screening test) was used to assess infant neurodevelopment. Results In multivariable-corrected linear regression analysis, infants of women with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) demonstrated a significantly lower receptive communication score (β = −.63; 95% CI, −1.12 to −0.14; P =.013), with stratified analysis showing a significant association among female offspring (β = −.87; 95% CI, −1.59 to −0.15; P =.018) but a null association among male offspring (β = −.44; 95% CI, −1.03 to 0.15; P =.145). No significant differences were found in the assisted pregnancy population with normal thyroid function and positive antibodies according to the diagnostic cutoffs applied to normal pregnant women. Conclusion SCH in assisted pregnancies correlates with lower communication scores in 1-year-olds, especially in girls. Background Radon, a potent carcinogen, is a significant catalyst for lung cancer development. However, the molecular mechanisms triggering radon-induced lung cancer remain elusive. Methods Utilizing a radon exposure concentration of 20,000 Bq/m3 for 20 min/session, malignant transformation was induced in human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B). Results Radon-exposed cells derived from passage 25 (BEAS-2B-Rn) exhibited enhanced proliferation and increased colony formation. Analysis of differential gene expression (DEG) through transcription factors revealed 663 up-regulated and 894 down-regulated genes in radon-exposed cells. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses revealed significant alterations in the malignant transformation pathway of cells, including those related to cancer and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. A PPI network analysis indicated a significant association of oncogenes, such as CCND1, KIT, and GATA3, with lung cancer among differentially expressed genes. In addition, the stability of the housekeeping gene was determined through RT-qPCR analysis, which also confirmed the results of transcriptome analysis. Conclusions The results suggest that transcription factors may play a pivotal role in conferring a survival advantage to radon-exposed cells. There is a complex interaction between national land space and transportation. China is accelerating its strategy of building a strong transportation country and territorial spatial planning, which requires evaluating and strengthening the coordination relationship between transport and land space to promote development. Taking the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration in China as an example, this study analyze the high-speed transportation construction and land space development process, evaluates the coupling and coordination degree between high-speed transportation and land space, as well as the "development-protection" situation in the years 2000, 2010, and 2020 by means of the coupling and coordination model, spatial autocorrelation analysis, and GIS analysis. The result shows: (1) high-speed transportation construction and territorial space development have been active for a long time, and most of the cities have maintained a high level of increase in these two indicators. In terms of protection indicators, Tangshan and other coastal cities have been lagging behind for a long time without any improvement trend. (2) The coupling and coordination level between high-speed transportation and development is high, with slight weakening over time, with an average annual decrease of less than 0.09%. The change in the coupling coordination level with protection shows the wave dynamics of 'low-middle-low'. (3) In the future, high-speed transportation will have a significant impact on land space in the country for a long time. In this regard, it is suggested to: (1) promote the construction of high-speed transportation for network, systematic, and serial development; (2) accelerate the extension of the high-speed transportation advantages of the existing growth poles of Beijing and Tianjin; and (3) develop Shijiazhuang and Langfang as the new growth poles. This study will promote the integration of transportation and urban planning, which will contribute to the development of high-quality synergistic urban agglomerations around the world. Ferroelectric field effect transistors (Fe-FETs) offer promising candidates for neuromorphic computing. However, it is still challenging to achieve a light-tunable field effect, which limits the function of photo-synapse. In this work, a ferroelectric semiconductor floating-gate transistor (FSF-FET) is proposed based on MoS2/h-BN/α-In2Se3 van der Waals heterojunctions (vdWHs), in which the two-dimensional ferroelectric semiconducting α-In2Se3 and dielectric h-BN serve as the trapped layer of charges and prevent layer, respectively. The excellent memory performances are exhibited, including a high programming/erasing ratio of over 107, a large memory window ratio of 74.69%, and good non-volatility. Moreover, the FSF-FETs also possess the light-tunable synapse behaviors, including the high paired-pulse facilitation of 236% and an obvious transition from short-term plasticity to long-term plasticity. The high recognition rate of 93.9% is achieved with dual-mode modulation of light and electrical pulses. Camellia oleifera is a crop of high economic value, yet it is particularly susceptible to various diseases and pests that significantly reduce its yield and quality. Consequently, the precise segmentation and classification of diseased Camellia leaves are vital for managing pests and diseases effectively. Deep learning exhibits significant advantages in the segmentation of plant diseases and pests, particularly in complex image processing and automated feature extraction. However, when employing single-modal models to segment Camellia oleifera diseases, three critical challenges arise: (A) lesions may closely resemble the colors of the complex background; (B) small sections of diseased leaves overlap; (C) the presence of multiple diseases on a single leaf. These factors considerably hinder segmentation accuracy. A novel multimodal model, CNN–Transformer Dual U-shaped Network (CTDUNet), based on a CNN–Transformer architecture, has been proposed to integrate image and text information. This model first utilizes text data to address the shortcomings of single-modal image features, enhancing its ability to distinguish lesions from environmental characteristics, even under conditions where they closely resemble one another. Additionally, we introduce Coordinate Space Attention (CSA), which focuses on the positional relationships between targets, thereby improving the segmentation of overlapping leaf edges. Furthermore, cross-attention (CA) is employed to align image and text features effectively, preserving local information and enhancing the perception and differentiation of various diseases. The CTDUNet model was evaluated on a self-made multimodal dataset compared against several models, including DeeplabV3+, UNet, PSPNet, Segformer, HrNet, and Language meets Vision Transformer (LViT). The experimental results demonstrate that CTDUNet achieved an mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 86.14%, surpassing both multimodal models and the best single-modal model by 3.91% and 5.84%, respectively. Additionally, CTDUNet exhibits high balance in the multi-class segmentation of Camellia oleifera diseases and pests. In order to explore the strong heterogeneity of evaporite-carbonate symbolic system, based on core and logging data, this paper clarifies microfacies types of Arab Formation in B Oilfield of Abu Dhabi, and analyzes the reservoir characteristics of various microfacies and the main controlling factors of high-quality reservoirs. Twelve microfacies types (MF1--MF12) can be identified in the Arab Formation. Microfacies types and associations indicate that it is a sedimentary system of Sabha tidal flat-lagoon-barrier beach under the background of limited-evaporation. Microfacies control reservoir quality. MF2 and MF9--MF12 have thicker pore throats, better connectivity, and higher porosity and permeability, making them favorable microfacies types for reservoir development. MF2 and MF10 develop dolomite reservoirs, with the reservoir space mainly composed of intergranular pores, residual intergranular pores and intragranular dissolution pores. Grainstone reservoirs are developed in MF9, MF11 and MF12, with the reservoir space dominated by intergranular (dissolution) pores, mold pores and intragranular dissolution pores. The seismic change of relative sea level causes orderly stacking of sedimentary facies belts in longitudinal direction. The difference of microfacies types and diagenesis between different sedimentary facies belts and within the same sedimentary facies belt is the fundamental reason for the strong heterogeneity of the Arab Formation reservoir. The barrier beach and supratidal are favorable facies belts for the development of high-quality reservoirs. The primary intergranular pores of high-quality reservoirs in the barrier beach facies are well maintained and superimposed with significant early exposure and dissolution, resulting in the generation of secondary pores and the further improvement of pore structure. The development of high-quality reservoirs in the supratidal is controlled by early dolomitization and penecontemporaneous dissolution. Dolomitization improves pore structure, which is conducive to early pore preservation. Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a novel MRI technology to image certain compounds at extremely low concentrations. Long acquisition time to measure signals at a set of offset frequencies of the Z-spectra and to repeat measurements to reduce noise pose significant challenges to its applications. This study explores correlations of CEST MR images along the spatial and Z-spectral dimensions to improve MR image quality and robustness of magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) asymmetry estimation via a joint k- ω reconstruction model. The model was formulated as an optimization problem with respect to MR images at all frequencies ω , while incorporating regularizations along the spatial and spectral dimensions. The solution was subject to a self-consistency condition that the Z-spectrum of each pixel follows a multi-peak data fitting model corresponding to different CEST pools. The optimization problem was solved using the alternating direction method of multipliers. The proposed joint reconstruction method was evaluated on a simulated CEST MRI phantom and semi-experimentally on choline and iopamidol phantoms with added Gaussian noise of various levels. Results demonstrated that the joint reconstruction method was more tolerable to noise and reduction in number of offset frequencies by improving signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the reconstructed images and reducing uncertainty in MTR asymmetry estimation. In the choline and iopamidol phantom cases with 10.5% noise in the measurement data, our method achieved an averaged SNR of 31.0 dB and 32.2 dB compared to the SNR of 24.7 dB and 24.4 dB in the conventional reconstruction approach. It reduced uncertainty of the MTR asymmetry estimation over all regions of interest by 54.4% and 43.7%, from 1.71 and 2.38 to 0.78 and 1.71, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses a study conducted to investigate the humoral immune response to the COVID-19 vaccine in patients with psoriasis who are receiving biologics and small molecule medications. The study found that patients treated with different medications had similar levels of neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) after receiving the vaccine. Additionally, the study showed that a 3-dose vaccine regimen was more effective in inducing NAbs production compared to a 2-dose regimen. However, some patients experienced a decrease in NAb titers after the booster-dose vaccination, possibly due to a longer interval between doses or poor compliance. Sirtuins (SRTs) are a group of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)‐dependent deacetylase that target both histone and nonhistone proteins. The biological function of SRT in horticultural plants has been rarely studied. In this study, FaSRT1‐2 was identified as a key member of the 8 FaSRTs encoded in cultivated strawberry genome. Transient overexpression of FaSRT1‐2 in strawberry fruit accelerated ripening, increased the content of anthocyanins and sugars, enhanced ripening‐related gene expression. Moreover, stable transformation of FaSRT1‐2 in strawberry plants resulted in enhanced vegetative growth, increased sensitivity to heat stress and increased susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea infection. Interestingly, knocking out the homologous gene in woodland strawberry had the opposite effects. Additionally, we found the content of stress‐related hormone abscisic acid (ABA) was decreased, while the growth‐related gibberellin (GA) concentration was increased in FaSRT1‐2 overexpression lines. Gene expression analysis revealed induction of heat shock proteins, transcription factors, stress‐related and antioxidant genes in the FaSRT1‐2‐overexpressed plants while knocked‐out of the gene had the opposite impact. In conclusion, our findings demonstrated that FaSRT1‐2 could positively promote strawberry plant vegetative growth and fruit ripening by affecting ABA and GA pathways. However, it negatively regulates the resistance to heat stress and B. cinerea infection by influencing the related gene expression. Summary statement: FaSRT1‐2 is likely to exert a positive regulatory effect on both strawberry fruit ripening and vegetative growth by stimulating sugar, anthocyanin, and the gibberellin metabolism pathway. Moreover, FaSRT1‐2 appears to enhance the susceptibility of strawberry plants to heat stress while also promoting defence against Botrytis cinerea through alterations in abscisic acid metabolism and stress‐related genes expression. The source and pumping mechanism of magnesium play crucial roles in dolomitization. The preferential dolomitization of burrows has been extensively documented in geological archives. Although burrows are abundantly preserved in Cretaceous carbonates, burrow‐selective dolomitization is uncommon in normal salinity marine environments due to the low Mg/Ca ratio of seawater. However, burrow‐selective dolomitization occurred in the Cenomanian Rumaila Formation carbonates of the Arabian Platform providing an excellent example to further clarify the mechanism and explore other potential Mg sources of burrow‐elective dolomitization. Integrated studies of petrography, stable isotope geochemistry and laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry‐based in situ element geochemistry were conducted. It was found that the burrow‐selective dolomitization exclusively occurred in echinoderm fragment‐filled Thalassinoides networks which occurred as Glossifungites ichnofacies. Burrow dolomites showed fine to medium crystalline and planar subhedral to euhedral textures with cloudy centres and clear rims. They exhibited relatively greater Mn, lower Sr and Fe concentrations, no or very weak negative Ce anomaly and middle rare earth element‐bulge patterns, and are slightly enriched with occasionally depleted δ13C and comparable δ18O relative to the surrounding calcite matrix. The initial high‐Mg calcite echinoderm fragments in burrows have been stabilized to low‐Mg calcite, and echinoderm syntaxial overgrowth calcite cement was practically nonexistent. Echinoderm fragments were frequently replaced by dolomite in part or whole. Undolomitized echinoderms have negative Ce anomaly and seawater‐like rare earth element patterns, as well as very low Mn, Fe and relatively greater Sr concentrations. These suggest that echinoderm stabilization occurred in fluid unsaturated with respect to high‐Mg calcite driven by aerobic decomposition of organic matter in oxic seawater near the sediment–water interface, meanwhile, Mg ions were liberated into pore water. This process pre‐dated the dolomitization allowing the Mg derived from echinoderm to raise the Mg/Ca ratio of burrow interstitial water. The dolomites in burrows were generated by initial replacement and subsequent overgrowth cementation associated with bacterial sulphate reduction and methanogenesis in low‐temperature and suboxic to anoxic fluids in the near‐surface realm, and faintly recrystallized as burial depth increased. This study sheds light on the echinoderm stabilization process, links the early diagenesis of skeletons to burrow dolomitization, and proposes a conceptual model illustrating that high‐Mg calcite skeletons could act as a major Mg source for burrow‐selective dolomitization, which compensates for the deficiency of Mg in normal low Mg/Ca ratio Cretaceous seawater. This study implies the interaction effect and element cycle among components in early diagenetic systems, and verifies that high‐Mg calcite is indeed a non‐negligible potential Mg source for partial or elective dolomitization. BaTiO3-based ceramics with a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) and different alumina contents were prepared by the solid-state reaction technique. The experimental results show a peculiar 'W'-shaped trend. It is different from the 'U'-shaped trend which decrease first and then increase in the previous research. The room-temperature resistivity of PTCR materials with high alumina (1.6 ~ 5 at%) content decreased anomalously with an increase in the alumina additive. This is due to the generation of new donor defects during the formation of the new phase. The mechanism of alumina in BaTiO3-based ceramics was discussed from the point of defect chemistry and phases, thus explaining the 'W'-type behavior. This finding implies the possibility of significant improvement of the PTC effect of the material by introducing alumina. The addition of 2 at% alumina resulted in PTCR ceramics with a temperature coefficient as high as 35.46%/℃ and a PTCR jump as high as 4.7. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tillering is an important part in strawberry growth, and strawberries can reproduce nutritionally through stolons to generate genetically stable offspring. However, excessive tillering during the fruit-growing stage can negatively impact fruit yield and quality. In this study, different concentrations of exogenous rac-GR24 (GR24) are used to treat the strawberry plants. It was found that GR24 effectively inhibited the sprouting of strawberry stolons, while promoting the growth of the stems and leaves. Among the treatments, the most effective concentration was found to be 5 μmol/L GR24. This treatment resulted in a decrease in the glucose content in the strawberry crowns and also caused changes in the contents of two endogenous phytohormones, gibberellic acid (GA3) and trans-zeatin riboside (tZR). Transcriptome data further suggested that exogenous GR24 may inhibit strawberry plant tillering by affecting various phytohormone signaling pathways and the sugar metabolism pathway. In 5 μmol/L GR24-treated plants, the expression level of type-B response regulator (B-ARR) was down-regulated and the expression level of CYTOKININ RESPONSE 1 (CRE1), histidine-containing phosphotransfer protein (AHP), and type-A response regulator (A-ARR) were up-regulated, suggesting the inhibition of the cytokinin (CTK) signaling pathway. The down-regulation of auxin (AUX) and auxin response factor (ARF), as well as the up-regulation of auxin/indole-3-acetic acid (AUX/IAA), led to the inhibition of the indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) signaling pathway. Additionally, the up-regulation of pyrabactin resistance 1/ pyrabactin resistance 1-like (PYR/PYL), non-fermenting 1-related protein kinase 2 (SnRK2), and ABRE binding factors (ABF) and the down-regulation of protein phosphatase 2C (PP2C) were observed in the up-regulated abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathways. In the sugar metabolism pathway, the up-regulation of invertase (INV), hexokinase (HK), and fructokinase (FRK) and the down-regulation of trehalase (TREH) and beta-amylase (BMY) led to a decreased glucose synthesis and an increased glucose consumption. GR24, a synthetic strigolactone analogue, plays a crucial role in a wide range of life processes. Studying the effects of the pre-harvest application of GR24 on strawberry ripening and fruit quality provides a scientific basis for the application of GR24 in horticultural crop production. GR24 solutions at concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1 and 2 µmol/L were applied to strawberries at the de-greening stage. The results showed that pre-harvest treatment with 1 µmol/L GR24 increased fruit weight and size; promoted fruit softening; increased the content of sugars, total flavonoids, total phenolics, and anthocyanins, and increased antioxidant activity. These results proved that GR24 effectively accelerated fruit ripening and improved fruit quality. In addition, to gain more insight into the biological mechanism of GR24 in fruit ripening, we conducted a combined transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis. It was found that the differences were related to sugar and flavonoid biosynthesis, particularly in the later stage of fruit ripening. qRT-PCR analysis revealed that GR24 increased gene expression activity and metabolite accumulation in the anthocyanin and sugar biosynthetic pathway, thereby promoting strawberry color and flavor. Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease that manifests itself not only on the skin but also on various tissues and organs of the body. While some psoriasis co-morbidities have been investigated, little is known about its association with impairment of renal function. In 2005, the concept of psoriatic nephropathy was first introduced by Indian nephrologists, suggesting a potential relationship between psoriasis and kidney disease. Adalimumab, a fully human recombinant immunoglobulin G1 monoclonal antibody against tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment for patients with moderate to severe psoriasis. Here, we present a case of severe plaque psoriasis accompanied with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) treated with adalimumab. Following the case presentation is a discussion of the relationship between psoriasis and chronic kidney disease (CKD) / ESRD and the possible role of biologics in psoriasis-related kidney damage. The aim of this report is to increase dermatologists' awareness of psoriatic nephropathy as a complication of psoriasis and to raise awareness of the use of biologics in psoriasis. Assessing the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is crucial for reducing obesity; however, a simple but relatively accurate method for determining added sugar consumption among school adolescents is lacking. The aim of this study was to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of a food group-based food frequency questionnaire (FG-FFQ) for SSBs in assessing SSB consumption and added sugar among middle-school students. A total of 242 school students completed the FG-FFQs twice and four discontinuous 24-h dietary records (24HDR) over a three-month period. A weighted average approach was used to obtain the average sugar content in the sugary drink food group (FG). Correlation coefficient, weighted kappa statistic, misclassification analysis, and Bland–Altman plot were used to evaluate the validity and reproducibility of the FG-FFQ. Linear regression was utilized to obtain the calibration formulas. The average content of added sugar in sugary drink FG was 8.1 g/100 mL. SSB consumption frequency, consumption amount, and added sugar had correlation coefficients of 0.81, 0.87, and 0.87, respectively, in the validity analysis (p < 0.05). The majority of scatter plots were covered by 95% confidence intervals in the Bland–Altman bias analysis. The intra-class correlation coefficient of SSB consumption frequency and Spearman correlation coefficient of SSB consumption amount and added sugar were 0.74, 0.81, and 0.90, respectively, in the reproducibility analysis (p < 0.05). Results produced by the FG-FFQ calibration formula were more comparable to 24HDR. The FG-FFQ for SSB consumption showed acceptable validity and reproducibility, making it a viable instrument for epidemiological studies on sugary drinks in adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
