This article discusses findings of a study which investigated the role of fish oil supplementation in the endothelial function of healthy volunteers. An investigation of endothelial function in peripheral conduit vessels has been conducted using high-resolution ultrasound on flow-mediated vasodilation in the brachial artery. The study focused on 27 non-smoking, asymptomatic men and women with no significant medical problems who were recruited from a pool of medical residents at the Olive View Medical Center of the University of California in Los Angeles.
