Promotion of a coming global era confuses how to properly approach the complex processes of world integration. New social movements are presently mobilizing themselves against a fatalistic vision of how information technology will lead to all nations becoming a single 'great human family.'

An interview with media and communications theory author Armand Mattelart is presented. When asked about an overview of his work, he replied that he started his research on the power concept. He said that James Carey and Stuart Ewen are the two individuals that made huge impression on him. Moreover, he admitted that he is a Marxist and he believed that Marxist is a person who has understanding on Marxism's diversity.
