This work deals with an original class of porcelain produced under the direction of Bartolomé Sureda in the last years (1803- 1808) of the Royal Porcelain Factory of Buen Retiro. The results of the chemical and mineralogical analysis of a selection of tableware, tiles and sculpture shards, found in the archaeological excavation (1996) of the site where the factory was built, confirm the production of a new hard-paste porcelain where the kaolin was substituted by a magnesium clay, the sepiolite. The characteristics of pastes and glazes and the investigation of the historic and scientific contexts of porcelain and white earthenware in Europe have allowed establishing the reasons and the technical parameters of this production. Replicas of the paste were done in the laboratory to assert the raw materials and the firing conditions of this porcelain.Este trabajo considera el estudio arqueométrico de un tipo de porcelana muy poco frecuente que se elaboró en los últimos años de la Real Fábrica de Porcelanas del Buen Retiro (1803-1808) bajo la dirección de Bartolomé Sureda. El análisis químico y mineralógico de una selección de fragmentos de vajillas, azulejos y esculturas, que se encontraron en la excavación arqueológica (1996) del solar de la fábrica, ratifica la producción de un nuevo tipo de porcelana dura, en la que se empleaba una arcilla de magnesio, la sepiolita, en lugar del caolín. Las características de las pastas y los vidriados y la investigación del contexto histórico y científico de la porcelana y la cerámica blanca en Europa han permitido establecer los motivos y los parámetros de su producción. Among the different techniques available for measuring thermal conductivity, the comparative method (ASTM E1225-99) is the most appropriate for porous materials. This method determines the thermal conductivity in steady state conditions in the 100 - 1300 K temperature range and for conductivities between 0.2 and 200 W/mK, respectively, depending on the equipment characteristics. In the present paper, the design and development, as well as the start up process, of an apparatus based on this method is described. Thermal conductivity data on a mullite based refractory, measured by both the laser flash and the comparative methods, are presented and comparatively discussed in order to validate the developed equipment.Entre las distintas técnicas de medida de la conductividad térmica de materiales, el método comparativo, recogido en la norma ASTM E1225-99, es el más adecuado para muestras porosas o materiales compuestos. Este método permite determinar conductividades térmicas en estado estacionario, en el intervalo de valores de 0,2 a 200 W/mK, y a temperaturas de ensayo en el rango 100-1300 K, dependiendo del diseño del equipo. En este trabajo se expone el diseño, desarrollo y puesta a punto de un equipo de medida de conductividad térmica basado en este método. Paralelamente, se realiza una validación del equipo mediante el estudio comparativo de los resultados obtenidos usando el equipo comparativo y la técnica del pulso láser en materiales porosos de mullita.

Among the several techniques available to measure the thermal conductivity/ diffusivity, the laser flash method stands out for its low run time (less than 1 hour per temperature) and the reduced sample size required. Nevertheless, the laser flash technique is not very accurate for porous materials due to laser transmission problems and the underestimation of the total sample thickness. The attaching to the porous sample of two thin foils of an opaque and high diffusivity material (Cu) can solve these problems. This type of assembly was used to measure diffusivity in a porous alumina material. Data obtained are compared with theoretical models, wich predict effective thermal conductivity of the porous material from the thermal conductivity of the dense material, the amount of porosity and the type of microstructure.Entre las distintas técnicas de medida de la conductividad/difusividad térmica de materiales, destaca la técnica del pulso láser por la rapidez de medida de la difusividad térmica y la facilidad de preparación de las muestras. Sin embargo, cuando se mide la difusividad térmica en materiales porosos, aparecen problemas relacionados con la transmisión del haz láser y la subestimacion del espesor de la muestra. En este trabajo, se propone un método para evitar estos problemas que consiste en formar un sistema tricapa Cu/material poroso/Cu. Este método se ha verificado experimentalmente utilizando materiales de alúmina densa y porosa. Los valores experimentales para la alúmina porosa se han explicado a partir de modelos que estiman la conductividad térmica efectiva de un material poroso en función de la conductividad del material denso, la porosidad y el tipo de microestructura.

This work gathers a comparative study of the mechanical and tribological behaviour (microhardness under load, Young modulus, elasticplastic properties, friction and wear coefficients) of TiN/CrN and TiN/AlTiN multilayers deposited by conventional industrial PVD techniques. PVD multilayers with about between 50 nm individual layer thickness were deposited on flat samples of Co-cemented WC achieving a total thickness of about 2 microns. Mechanical and Tribological tests include microhardness under load at final loads between 10 mN aand 750 mN, Young modulus calculations and friction and wear tests.El presente trabajo recoge un estudio comparativo de las propiedades mecánicas y tribológicas (microdureza, fluencia, módulo elástico, coeficientes de fricción y desgaste), de multicapas TiN/AlTiN y TiN/CrN depositadas mediante técnicas industriales de PVD. Las capas, de espesores comprendidos entre 25nm y 100nm, se depositaron secuencialmente sobre substratos de WC, hasta obtener un espesor total de unas 2 micras. El estudio mecánico y tribológico comparativo incluyó ensayos de microdureza a cargas entre 10 mN y 750 mN, módulo elástico, comportamiento frente a fluencia y coeficientes de fricción y desgaste.

Bilingual education currently faces the challenge of improving teacher training to meet the linguistic and didactic demands of a content and language integrated approach. Our paper analyses what Spanish in-service primary school teachers consider the key training priorities for their involvement in bilingual programmes. Using content data analysis, we have detected the most frequently used terms in the teachers' answers to an open-ended question. 2,830 words were examined, and the net of relations among the training priorities emerging from their discourse was established. Our results confirm that teachers prioritise the need to be proficient in English over methodological issues, which prevail once language proficiency has been achieved. They highlight investment as being crucial both to implement school bilingual programmes and to provide training opportunities for their professional development. Our study concludes that only concerted personal and administrative efforts will bridge the gap between global educational agendas and classroom performance.
