Benefiting from the advancements in monitoring and measuring terrestrial evapotranspiration (ET), diverse ET products have been proliferated. This study evaluated nine ET products from three types, namely remote sensing-based retrievals (GLEAM, PML and PLSH), gauge-based upscaling (FCCRU, FCGSW and FCWFD) and land surface model-based reanalysis (ERA5-Land, GLDAS and MERRA) over China and its seven climate zones. Both spatial and temporal change trends in ET were investigated, and period feature were analyzed. Then, in-situ ET observations were used for validating the performances of ET products. The results demonstrate that all products show comparable performances in spatial distribution over China, but the mean ET values present evident discrepancies (433–563 mm/a). Among them, reanalysis ET products reproduce higher ET, but with less difference. In terms of climate sub-regions, the most significant discrepancies are located in QT. In addition, PLSH, MERRA and GLDAS present substantial increasing trends, while all three gauge-based upscaling ET products display decreasing trends. Regionally, all the ET products show positive trends in QT. Moreover, most of ET products present apparent periodic oscillation ranging from 2.0–5.5 year scales. At point scale, most ET products perform well at NMG and CBS sites (CC > 0.80, RMSE < 20 mm/month). However, general underestimations appear in northwestern China sites (HB and DX), and systematical overestimation exist in southern China sites (DHS and XSBN). By comparison, remote sensing-based ET products performs best, followed by gauge-based upscaling ET, comparatively, reanalysis-based ET products have poorest performances against in-situ ET observations. With the continuous advancement of the global industrialization process, industrial cultural heritage has gradually attracted the attention of all parties, but its protection and excavation still face multiple challenges. The purpose of this study is to explore the conservation and mining strategies of global industrial cultural heritage based on big data. Through a comprehensive analysis of the value and status quo of industrial cultural heritage, this study integrates multi-source data and constructs a big data processing and analysis model by using the questionnaire method. The research results show that big data has significant application potential and practical value in the protection of industrial cultural heritage, and can provide more accurate and personalized protection strategies. Based on the data analysis, this study further proposes a series of practical conservation and excavation strategies to provide strong support for the sustainable development of industrial cultural heritage. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) systems are sensitive to the lifespans of flow entries in flow tables as such lifespans affect the overall network-forwarding latency and the flow table space usage, particularly when the systems are under cyber attack. Instead of developing extra approaches to reactively detect the attacks and mitigate the impact of the attacks, this paper views the lifespans of flow entries as the privacy of the SDN systems and proposes a Flow-Entry Aging RandOmization Layer (FEAROL), which applies the staircase randomized response mechanism in the flow-entry-aging process at switches. FEAROL locally perturbs the lifespan of each flow entry in the flow table. Since the true lifespan of each flow entry is different from the lifespan set in the entry by the controller and dynamically perturbed by FEAROL, Low-rate Denial-of-Service (LDoS) attacks based on the sniffed flow-entry timeouts cannot be effectively organized. FEAROL proactively prevents LDoS attacks from overflowing the flow tables and legitimate flow packets from being dropped due to the broken synchronization between attack flows and the network settings. FEAROL can adjust its aging policies and privacy budget based on the real-time monitored network performance. FEAROL is prototyped in an open-source soft switch (OpenVSwitch) and evaluated through simulations on real network traces. The results show that FEAROL increases the overhead of aging a flow entry. However, this overhead can be significantly reduced by adjusting the interval at which the aging process is triggered. FEAROL also effectively defends against flow table overflow LDoS attacks by significantly reducing the table usage of LDoS attack flows. The transport behavior of ionic liquids (ILs) is pivotal for a variety of applications, especially when ILs are used as electrolytes. Many aspects of the transport dynamics of ILs remain to be understood. Here, a common ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (BmimNTf2), was studied with molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that BmimNTf2 displays typical structural relaxation, subdiffusive behavior, and a breakdown of the Stokes-Einstein diffusion relation as in glass-forming liquids. In addition, the simulations show that the translational dynamics, reorientation dynamics, and structural relaxation dynamics are well described by the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann equation like fragile glass forming liquids. Building on previous work that employed ion cage models, it was found that the diffusion dynamics of the cations and anions were well described by a hopping process random walk where the step time is the ion cage lifetime obtained from the cage correlation function. Detailed analysis of the ion cage structures indicated that the electrostatic potential energy of the ion cage dominates the diffusion dynamics of the caged ion. The ion orientational relaxation dynamics showed that ion reorientation is a necessary step for ion cage restructuring. The atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles of the troposphere are generally measured by radiosondes and satellites, which are essential for analyzing and predicting weather. Nevertheless, the insufficient observation frequencies and low detection accuracy of the boundary layer restricts the description of atmospheric state changes by the temperature and humidity profiles. Therefore, this work focus on retrieving the temperature and humidity profiles using observations of the FengYun-4 (FY-4) Geostationary Interferometric Infrared Sounder (GIIRS) combined with ground-based infrared spectral observations from the Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI), which are more accurate than space-based individual retrieval results and have a wider effective retrieval range than ground-based individual retrieval results. Based on the synergistic observations, which are made by matching the space-based and ground-based data with those of different spatial and temporal resolutions, a synergistic retrieval process is proposed to obtain the temperature and humidity profiles at a high frequency under clear-sky conditions based on the optimal estimation method. In this research, using the line-by-line radiative transfer model (LBLRTM) as the forward model for observing simulations, a retrieval experiment was carried out in Qingdao, China, where an AERI is situated. Taking radiosonde data as a reference for comparing the retrieval results of the temperature and humidity profiles of the troposphere, the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the synergistic retrieval algorithm below 400 hPa is within 2 K for temperature and within 12% for relative humidity. Compared with the GIIRS individual retrieval, the RMSE of temperature and relative humidity for the synergistic method is reduced by 0.13–1.5 K and 2.7–4.4% at 500 hPa, and 0.13–2.1 K and 2.5–7.2% at 900 hPa. Moreover, the forecast index (FI) calculated from the retrieval results shows reasonable consistency with the FIs calculated from the ERA5 reanalysis and from radiosonde data. The synergistic retrieval results have higher temporal resolution than space-based retrieval results and can reflect the changes in the atmospheric state more accurately. Overall, the results demonstrated the promising potential of the synergistic retrieval of temperature and humidity profiles at high accuracy and high temporal resolution under clear-sky conditions from FY-4/GIIRS and AERI. In this work, three‐dimensional (3D) nanostructures of polyaniline nano‐sheets, nano‐particles, nano‐nets and nano‐flowers were synthesized with valine, sulfuric acid, sodium acetate and L‐phenylalanine as doping acids, respectively. Conductive polyaniline with 3D nanostructure was proven as an excellent energy storage material because of its superior electrical properties and unique structure. The porous structure not only greatly improved the charge transfer efficiency and reduced the resistance, but also improved the cycle stability and energy storage of the electrode material. Polyaniline nano‐flowers doped with L‐phenylalanine (PANI‐NF) showed a maximum specific capacitance of 580 F g−1(I=0.5 A g−1), a maximum energy density of 53.9 Wh kg−1, and excellent cycle stability at high current density. Bridging heterogeneous mutation data fills in the gap between various data categories and propels discovery of disease-related genes. It is known that genome-wide association study (GWAS) infers significant mutation associations that link genotype and phenotype. However, due to the differences of size and quality between GWAS studies, not all de facto vital variations are able to pass the multiple testing. In the meantime, mutation events widely reported in literature unveil typical functional biological process, including mutation types like gain of function and loss of function. To bring together the heterogeneous mutation data, we propose a 'Gene–Disease Association prediction by Mutation Data Bridging (GDAMDB)' pipeline with a statistic generative model. The model learns the distribution parameters of mutation associations and mutation types and recovers false-negative GWAS mutations that fail to pass significant test but represent supportive evidences of functional biological process in literature. Eventually, we applied GDAMDB in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and predicted 79 AD-associated genes. Besides, 12 of them from the original GWAS, 60 of them are supported to be AD-related by other GWAS or literature report, and rest of them are newly predicted genes. Our model is capable of enhancing the GWAS-based gene association discovery by well combining text mining results. A series of phosphorus-doped hard carbon (PHC-Ts) was fabricated by directly annealing a phosphoric acid solidified epoxy resin over a wide temperature range to study the evolution of P-containing groups and the microstructure with increasing temperature, and to evaluate the Na-storage performance. A correlation between them has been well established. As the carbonization temperature increases, the P-containing groups undergo a transition from P–O and P–C bonds to higher active P–P bonds with a non-monotonic decrease in the interlayer distance. The high number of active P-containing groups and large interlayer distances provide more active sites and fast ion transmission channels, which jointly contribute to the excellent electrochemical performance. The obtained PHC-700 electrodes have the largest interlayer distance and highest total activity with many P–C bonds, showing a high capacity of 379.3 mA h g−1 at 0.1 A g−1, a superb rate capability of 158.1 mA h g−1 at 5.0 A g−1, and a long-term cycling stability without the loss of capacity after 6500 cycles at 5.0 A g−1. Porous MnF2 hollow spheroids are synthesized by using a facile solvothermal method. As‐synthesized MnF2 exhibits excellent electrochemical properties. The high reversible capabilities of 0.533 Ah/g at 0.057 A/g and 0.453 Ah/g at 0.577 A/g are obtained after 150 cycles for lithium‐ion batteries. Furthermore, the same MnF2 displays a high reversible specific capacity of 0.199 Ah/g at 2.308 A/g. As to sodium‐ion batteries, an initial reversible capability of 0.41 Ah/g at 0.01 A/g can be acquired and 0.154 Ah/g at 0.05 A/g can be retained after 150 cycles. Using glass fiber scraps as matrix and highly dispersed cellulose as enhancer, composite separators are prepared by a simple slurry sieving process. The effects of different composite proportions on the microstructure, mechanical properties, ionic conductivity and electrochemical properties are studied by SEM, tensile test, AC impedance and charge-discharge test, etc. As mass composite ratio is 1:1, the thickness of composite separator is 73.9 um, tensile strength is 29.5 Mpa and ion conductivity is 0.45 × 10−3 S cm−1, respectively. Sodium-ion half-cell (Na x Ni[Fe(CN) 6 ] as cathode) assembled by above composite separator exhibits excellent cycle stability (93.3% of capacity retention after 500 cycles at 1 C), rate capability (85.1% of capacity retention at 10 C) and maintains fine interfacial stability. Compared with glass fiber separator, some performance indicators of this new composite separator have been greatly improved, suggesting its potential application prospects in sodium-ion batteries. A series of Ca-doped lithium vanadates Li3− xCa xVO4 ( x=0, 0.01, 0.03, and 0.05) are synthesized successfully through a simple sol-gel method. XRD patterns and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) mappings reveal that the doped Ca2+ ions enter into the lattice successfully and are distributed uniformly throughout the Li3VO4 (LVO) grains. XRD spectra and SEM images show that Ca doping can lead to an enlarged lattice and refined Li3VO4 particles. A small quantity of V ions will transfer from V5+ to V4+ in the Ca-doped samples, as demonstrated by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, which leads to an increase of an order of magnitude in the electronic conductivity. Improved rate capability and cycling stability are observed for the Ca-doped samples, and Li2.97Ca0.03VO4 exhibits the best electrochemical performance among the studied materials. The initial charge/discharge capacities at 0.1 C increase from 480/645 to 527/702 mA h g−1 as x varies from 0 to 0.03. The charge capacity of Li2.97Ca0.03VO4 at 1 C retains 95.3 % of its initial value after 180 cycles, whereas the capacity retention is only 40 % for the pristine sample. Moreover, Li2.97Ca0.03VO4 maintains a high discharge capacity of 301.7 mA h g−1 at a high discharge rate (4 C), whereas the corresponding value is only 95.2 mA h g−1 for the pristine LVO sample. Federated learning (FL) is a type of distributed machine learning approacs that trains global models through the collaboration of participants. It protects data privacy as participants only contribute local models instead of sharing private local data. However, the performance of FL highly relies on the number of participants and their contributions. When applying FL over conventional computer networks, attracting more participants, encouraging participants to contribute more local resources, and enabling efficient and effective collaboration among participants become very challenging. As software-defined networks (SDNs) enable open and flexible networking architecture with separate control and data planes, SDNs provide standardized protocols and specifications to enable fine-grained collaborations among devices. Applying FL approaches over SDNs can take use such advantages to address challenges. A SDN control plane can have multiple controllers organized in layers; the controllers in the lower layer can be placed in the network edge to deal with the asymmetries in the attached switches and hosts, and the controller in the upper layer can supervise the whole network centrally and globally. Applying FL in SDNs with a layered-distributed control plane may be able to protect the data privacy of each participant while improving collaboration among participants to produce higher-quality models over asymmetric networks. Accordingly, this paper aims to make a comprehensive survey on the related mechanisms and solutions that enable FL in SDNs. It highlights three major challenges, an incentive mechanism, privacy and security, and model aggregation, which affect the quality and quantity of participants, the security and privacy in model transferring, and the performance of the global model, respectively. The state of the art in mechanisms and solutions that can be applied to address such challenges in the current literature are categorized based on the challenges they face, followed by suggestions of future research directions. In this study, we studied the synergetic effect of potassium oxysalts on combustion and ignition of nano aluminum (Al) and nano copper oxide (CuO) composites. Potassium periodate (KIO4) and potassium perchlorate (KClO4) are good oxidizers with high oxygen content and strong oxidizability. Different contents of KIO4 and KClO4 were added to nano Al/CuO and the composites were assembled by sonication. When the peak pressure of nano Al/CuO was increased ~5–13 times, the pressurization rate was improved by ~1–3 orders of magnitude, the ignition delay time was shortened by ~0.08 ms–0.52 ms and the reaction completeness was adjustable when 30–70% KIO4 and KClO4 were added into the composites. The reaction of Al/KIO4 and Al/KClO4 at a lower temperature was helpful to ignite the ternary composite. Meanwhile, CuO significantly reduced the peak temperature of oxygen released from the decomposition of KIO4 and KClO4. The synergetic effect of binary oxidizers made the combustion performance of the ternary composites better than that of the binary composites. The present work indicates that KIO4 and KClO4 are promising additives for nano Al/CuO to tune and promote the combustion performance. A bacterial strain 1–3 capable of enantioselectively hydrolyzing cis-epoxysuccinic acid tod(−)-tartaric acid was isolated from soil. Phenotypic characteristics, Biolog GN test and phylogenetic analysis of strain 1–3 indicated that it belongs to the genus Bordetella. cis-Epoxysuccinic acid could be used as a carbon source and inducer for production of cis-epoxysuccinic acid hydrolase. After the purification of the enzymatic biotransformed product, a colorless and scentless crystal was obtained, which was confirmed to be the tartaric acid with laevorotatory optical rotation by the 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum and optical rotation analysis. Molecular cloning of the gene and the crystal structure of the prolyl aminopeptidase [EC 3.4.11.5] from Serratia marcescens have been studied by us [J. Biochem. 122, 601–605 (1997); ibid. 126, 559–565 (1999)]. Through these studies, Phel39, Tyrl49, Glu204, and Argl36 were estimated to be concerned with substrate recognition. To elucidate the details of the mechanism for the substrate specificity, the site-directed mutagenesis method was applied. The F139A mutant showed an 80-fold decrease in catalytic efficiency (Kcat/Km), but the Y149A mutant did not show a significant change in catalytic efficiency. The catalytic efficiency of the E2O4Q mutant was about 4% of that of the wild type. The peptidase activity of the mutant (R136A) was markedly decreased, however, arylamidase activity with Pyr-βNA was retained as in the wild-enzyme. From these results, it was clarified that the pyrrolidine ring and the amino group of proline at the SI site were recognized by Phel39 and Glu204, respectively. PI’ of a substrate was recognized by Argl36. On the other hand, the enzyme had two cysteine residues. Rice plays an essential role in agricultural production as the most significant food crop. Automated supervision in the process of crop growth is the future development direction of agriculture, and it is also a problem that needs to be solved urgently. Productive cultivation, production and research of crops are attributed to increased automation of supervision in the growth. In this article, for the first time, we propose the concept of rice fractal dimension heterogeneity and define it as rice varieties with different fractal dimension values having various correlations between their traits. To make a comprehensive prediction of the rice growth, Machine Learning and Linear Mixed Effect (ML-LME) model is proposed to model and analyze this heterogeneity, which is based on the existing automatic measurement system RAP and introduces statistical characteristics of fractal dimensions as novel features. Machine learning algorithms are applied to distinguish the rice growth stages with a high degree of accuracy and to excavate the heterogeneity of rice fractal dimensions with statistical meaning. According to the information of growth stage and fractal dimension heterogeneity, a precise prediction of key rice phenotype traits can be received by ML-LME using a Linear Mixed Effect model. In this process, the value of the fractal dimension is divided into groups and then rices of different levels are respectively fitted to improve the accuracy of the subsequent prediction, that is, the heterogeneity of the fractal dimension. Afterwards, we apply the model to analyze the rice pot image. The research results show that the ML-LME model, which possesses the hierarchical effect of fractal dimension, performs more excellently in predicting the growth situation of plants than the traditional regression model does. Further comparison confirmed that the model we proposed is the first to consider the hierarchy structure of plant fractal dimension, and that consideration obviously strengthens the model on the ability of variation interpretation and prediction precision. We assembled mesocosms to address the coherent mechanisms that an increasing phosphorus (P) concentration in water columns coupled with the phytoplankton bloom and identify the performance gap of regulating phytoplankton growth between two macrophyte species, Ceratophyllum demersum L. and Vallisneria spiralis L. Intense alkaline phosphatase activities (APA) were observed in the unplanted control, with their predominant part, phytoplankton APA (accounting for up to 44.7% of the total APA), and another large share, bacterial APA. These correspond with the large average concentration of total phosphorus (TP), total dissolved phosphorus (TDP) and soluble reactive (SRP) as well as high phytoplankton density in the water column. The consistency among P concentrations, phytoplankton density and APA, together with the positive impact of phytoplankton density on total APA revealed by the structural equation modelling (SEM), indicates that facilitated APA levels in water is an essential strategy for phytoplankton to enhance the available P. Furthermore, a positive interaction between phytoplankton APA and bacteria APA was detected, suggesting a potential collaboration between phytoplankton and bacteria to boost available P content in the water column. Both macrophyte species had a prominent performance on regulating phytoplankton proliferation. The phytoplankton density and quantum yield in C. demersum systems were all significantly lower (33.8% and 24.0%) than those in V. spiralis systems. Additionally, a greater decoupling effect of C. demersum on the relationship between P, APA, phytoplankton density, bacteria dynamic and quantum yield was revealed by SEM. Abstract: The median (MR) and dorsal raphe (DR) nuclei contain the majority of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin) neurons that project to limbic forebrain regions, are important in regulating homeostatic functions and are implicated in the etiology and treatment of mood disorders and schizophrenia. The primary synaptic inputs within and to the raphe are glutamatergic and GABAergic. The DR is divided into three subfields, i.e., ventromedial (vmDR), lateral wings (lwDR) and dorsomedial (dmDR). Our previous work shows that cell characteristics of 5-HT neurons and the magnitude of the 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B receptor-mediated responses in the vmDR and MR are not the same. We extend these observations to examine the electrophysiological properties across all four raphe subfields in both 5-HT and non-5-HT neurons. The neurochemical topography of glutamatergic and GABAergic cell bodies and nerve terminals were identified using immunohistochemistry and the morphology of the 5-HT neurons was measured. Although 5-HT neurons possessed similar physiological properties, important differences existed between subfields. Non-5-HT neurons were indistinguishable from 5-HT neurons. GABA neurons were distributed throughout the raphe, usually in areas devoid of 5-HT neurons. Although GABAergic synaptic innervation was dense throughout the raphe (immunohistochemical analysis of the GABA transporters GAT1 and GAT3), their distributions differed. Glutamate neurons, as defined by vGlut3 anti-bodies, were intermixed and co-localized with 5-HT neurons within all raphe subfields. Finally, the dendritic arbor of the 5-HT neurons was distinct between subfields. Previous studies regard 5-HT neurons as a homogenous population. Our data support a model of the raphe as an area composed of functionally distinct subpopulations of 5-HT and non-5-HT neurons, in part delineated by subfield. Understanding the interaction of the cell properties of the neurons in concert with their morphology, local distribution of GABA and glutamate neurons and their synaptic input, reveals a more complicated and heterogeneous raphe. These results provide an important foundation for understanding how specific subfields modulate behavior and for defining which aspects of the circuitry are altered during the etiology of psychological disorders. Response surface methodology, which allows for rapid identification of important factors and optimization of them to enhance enzyme production, was employed here to optimize culture conditions for the production of cis-epoxysuccinic acid hydrolase from Bordetella sp. strain 1–3. In the first step, a Plackett–Burman design was used to evaluate the effects of nine variables (yeast extract, cis-epoxysuccinic acid, KH2PO4, K2HPO4 ·3H2O, MgSO4 ·7H2O, trace minerals solution, culture volume, initial pH and incubation time) on the enzyme production. Yeast extract, cis-epoxysuccinic acid and KH2PO4 had significant influences on cis-epoxysuccinic acid hydrolase production and their concentrations were further optimized using central composite design and response surface analysis. A combination of adjusting the concentration of yeast extract to 7.8g/l, cis-epoxysuccinic acid to 9.8g/l, and KH2PO4 to 1.12g/l would favor maximum cis-epoxysuccinic acid hydrolase production. An enhancement of cis-epoxysuccinic acid hydrolase production from 5.6U/ml to 9.27U/ml was gained after optimization. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

• A calculation method for inversing adsorption parameters is proposed by using the modified hysteresis index DHI. • The new gas flow coupling model considering the adsorption–desorption hysteresis effect is constructed in this paper. • The reliability and superiority of the new model is proven by laboratory experiments. • The effect of different degrees of hysteresis on gas extraction is quantitatively evaluated using the new model. Coal mining methane (CMM) is a major hazard source and a typical greenhouse gas in the coal industry. Gas extraction is an effective solution to eliminate coal seam gas disasters and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Multi-field coupling model of gas flow in coal (MCMGF) is an important theoretical basis for guiding gas extraction, and the adsorption model is an important component of MCMGF. Numerous studies have shown that there is a hysteresis effect in the desorption of gas in coal compared to the adsorption process. Since gas extraction is a depressurized desorption process, HE should be taken into account when building the adsorption model. However, most of the current MCMGFs ignore the hysteresis effect, resulting in an overestimation of the amount of gas involved in the desorption process. Therefore, in this paper, the calculation method of the degree of hysteresis index (DHI) is revised and the adsorption model is modified based on systematically sorting out the adsorption–desorption hysteresis phenomenon. On this basis, a coupled gas flow model considering the hysteresis effect of adsorption and desorption was constructed, and the reliability of the model was verified by isothermal adsorption and desorption experiments on coal pillars. Eventually, the influence of different hysteresis degrees (DHI = 0, 0.25 and 0.59) on gas extraction was quantitatively evaluated by using the new model. The results show that hysteresis effect has a significant influence on gas extraction, and the larger DHI value is, the smaller the daily extraction is. Ignoring the influence of adsorption–desorption hysteresis will make the gas extraction capacity of the borehole overestimated. After 160 d of extraction, the difference between the residual gas content when adsorption–desorption hysteresis is considered and when it is ignored is up to 2.05 m3/t. This is because the adsorption–desorption hysteresis limits the ultimate amount of gas that can participate in the flow. In our previous studies, it has been found that the additional resistance to gas desorption is intrinsic to the hysteresis. With the increase of the mining depth, the in-situ stress increases rapidly, therefore the influence of coal adsorption–desorption hysteresis on gas extraction under high stress is one of the problems that need to be considered emphatically.
