In this study, we used an experimental design to investigate the influence of the total draft, break draft, distance between the aprons (Clips) and production roller pressure on yarn quality in order to obtain optimum drafting conditions for polyester and viscose (PES/CV) blend yarns in ring spinning frame. We used PES fibers (1.4 dtex × 38 mm long) and CV fibers (1.6 dtex × 38 mm long) to spin a 20 Tex blend yarn of PES (70%)/CV (30%) blend ratio. When the break draft, adjustment of distance between of aprons and roller pressure is not reasonable, controlling and leading of the fibers is not sufficient for proper orientation of the fibers in the yarn structure to produce a high quality yarn. Experimental results and statistical analysis show that the best yarn quality will be obtained under drafting conditions total draft of 38, 1.2 break draft, 2.8 mm distance between of aprons and maximum pressure of the production top roller (18daN).

Punica granatum L. is one of the oldest known edible fruits. Numerous chemical compounds have been isolated from pomegranate seeds, juice, and peels, which have beneficial effects on human health. This study aimed to perform the physicochemical and morphological properties of twenty-four pomegranate genotypes from various provinces of Iran. Fifteen fruits of each cultivar are collected at harvest maturity in the normal ripening period for the pomegranate from the Iranian pomegranate genetic collection in Yazd, Iran. Five fruits were randomly harvested from each of four orientations of the tree, and were immediately taken to the laboratory for analysis. Three replicates were maintained for each analysis. The results indicated the highest levels of anthocyanin was observed in S783 and R633, while polyphenols in Q529, the antioxidant capacity in N755 and the total soluble solids levels in R633 and the total acidity levels were found in K477 and E336. On the other hand, the fruit weight (in S948), fruit diameter (in SH1738), crown diameter (in R533), total weight of the seeds (in S948), peel thickness (in S716), peel colour (in S948), and red juice (in S783) are significantly affected by the genotype. At a similarity of 50%, the genotypes were divided into nine sub-clusters including A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I. These identified genotypes can be rolled out in future breeding programmes. There are different weft insertion methods used in the weaving machines. Electromagnetic launcher can be used as accelerator to yarn which is attached to ferromagnetic projectile. A validated finite element model can predict the system behavior accurately and faster than experiments. For optimization of the new weft insertion, the system outputs should be predicted by numerous states of inputs. Thus, prediction of the system outputs in less computation time is very important. The present study is an attempt to examine the use of an adaptive neuro fuzzy interface system (ANFIS) to simulate this new weft insertion system. The results show that simulation of this weft insertion system by ANFIS can function more efficiently and about 26 times faster than the finite element model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There are different weft insertion methods in the looms. Electromagnetic launcher can be used to accelerate the yarn which attached to ferromagnetic projectile. In addition to yarn variables and weft insertion system type, weft yarn accelerator parameters strongly affect the weft yarn velocity, yarn pulling force and consequently the fabric quality. Therefore, in this research an experimental coil launcher is implemented and the projectile velocity is calculated by image processing for different states of launcher parameters. Studied parameters are the voltage which is applied to the solenoid, the initial position of the projectile inside the solenoid, the solenoid current-cut-time, the number of coils per centimeter, as well as the solenoid length. The results show that each studied parameter has an optimum value which changes the trend of projectile velocity during acceleration. An electromagnetic launcher can be used as an accelerator for yarn attached to a ferromagnetic projectile. As a result, yarn endures a specific amount of tension. In addition to the yarn variables and the type of weft insertion system, the parameters of the weft yarn accelerator strongly affect the weft yarn velocity, its tension, and consequently the fabric quality. An applicable model that can represent the relationship between input and output parameters of this weft insertion system is very useful for predicting the strike of the projectile. Therefore, in this research a 3D imitating launching model was developed by the finite element method. A coil electromagnetic launcher was employed. An experimental methodology using an image-processing technique was also utilized to measure the projectile velocity. Numerical results were compared with experimental results to verify the numerical procedure. A validated model can be a reliable tool to investigate the effects of many process parameters on the strike of the projectile and to optimize them. The light profile method using image processing is a suitable technique for the assessment and analysis of fabric wrinkle. In this method the colour and fabric pattern have no effects on the results. The heights of the light profiles created by fabric wrinkles are considered as the most important factor in this study. The standard deviation, mean deviations and mean heights of the light profile on the fabric surface are other factors used in this work. The results indicated that mean deviations is the most accurate method of assessing fabric wrinkle. At the same time the results showed good agreement with the assessments of experts in the field. This paper reports an analytical study of the contact pressure between an elastic garment and some parts of the human body whose geometries are cylindrical and conical, which is based on contact mechanics. The results of this model are compared with a numerical simulation using the finite element method as well as an experimental approach. This model is based on an analysis of contact areas between body and the garment. The numerical solution is done using ANSYS-9 software. The results showed good agreement between the analytical and software analysis. As a result, validation of the software is guaranteed for analysis of other areas of the body using this software. The results show a maximum error of about 7 percent between the theoretical and software solutions. An experimental case study shows there is always good agreement in the presence of friction which, was not included in the analytical and software solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Savory (Satureja hortensis) from the Labiatae family contains approximately one percent of essential oils, including compounds such as carvacrol, thymol, paracymen and limonene. This study aimed to investigate the interaction of amino acids and biostimulants with growth indices and phytochemical traits of savory in a factorial experiment as a randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor, foliar spraying of biostimulants, contained salicylic acid in two concentrations of 0.5 and 1 mM and chitosan 0.1 and 0.5% as well as control (5 treatments). The second factor, amino acids spraying, contained proline and phenylalanine in two concentrations of 1.5 g and 3 g/l and spraying with distilled water as a control (5 treatments). Plant growth indices, percentage and yield of essential oil and active ingredients of essential oil (carvacrol, P-Cymen, α-Pinene and γ-terpinene) were measured. Results indicated that the highest indices of plant growth and percentage of essential oil were observed in the treatments of 1.5 g/l proline. In the treatments of 1.5 g/l of amino acids, chitosan and salicylic acid did not affect the percentage of essential oil, but in higher concentrations (3 g/l), they caused a significant increase in the percentage of essential oil. The highest essential oil yield was obtained in the amino acid treatments in 0.5 mM salicylic acid and chitosan. The highest percentage of carvacrol in the treatments was 1.5 g in liters of proline and phenylalanine, and under these treatments, no significant difference was observed between salicylic acid and chitosan treatments. Cement composites (CC) are among the composites most widely used in the construction industry, such as a durable waterproof and fire-resistant concrete layer, slope protection, and application in retaining wall structures. The use of 3D fabric embedded in the cement media can improve the mechanical properties of the composites. The use of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) can accelerate the production process of the CC and further contribute to improving the mechanical properties of the cement media. The purpose of this study is to promote the use of these cementitious composites by deepening the knowledge of their tensile properties and investigating the factors that may affect them. Therefore, 270 specimens (three types of stitch structure, two directions of the fabric, three water temperature values, five curing ages, with three repetitions) were made, and the tensile properties, absorbed energy, and the inversion effects were evaluated. The results showed that the curing conditions of the reinforced cementitious composite in water with temperature values of 7, 23, and 50 °C affect the tensile behavior. The tensile strength of the CCs cured in water with a temperature of 23 °C had the highest tensile strength, while 7 and 50 °C produced a lower tensile strength. The inversion effect has been observed in CC at 23 °C between 7 and 28 days, while this effect has not occurred in other curing temperature values. By examining three commercial types of stitches in fabrics and the performance of the reinforced cementitious composites in the warp direction, it was found that the structure of the "Tuck Stitch" has higher tensile strength and absorbed energy compared to "Knit stitch" and "Miss Stitch". The tensile strength and fracture energy of the CC reinforced with "Tuck Stitch" fabric in the warp direction, by curing in 23 °C water for 7 days, were found to be 2.81 MPa and 1.65 × 10 3 KJ/m 3 , respectively. These results may be helpful in selecting the design and curing parameters for the purposes of maximizing the tensile properties of textile CAC composites.
