4. Study on the effect of PBL, TBL and CP teaching methods combined on standardized training of periodontology residents

Abstract

Objective To assess the effectiveness of combining problem-based learning (PBL), team-based learning (TBL), and clinical pathway (CP) in standardized training of periodontology residents. Methods A total of 48 residents who were transferred to the Department of Periodontology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from January to October 2023 were randomly assigned to either the traditional teaching group or the PBL, TBL, and CP combined teaching group, with 24 participants in each group. The traditional teaching group followed conventional teaching methods, while the PBL, TBL, and CP combined teaching group utilized a combination of these three methods. Prior to completing their rotation, both groups underwent professional assessments as well as surveys on satisfaction with standardized training and self-evaluation. Results The professional examination scores ofcombined teaching group were significantly higher than those of the traditional teaching method group (P0.05). However, compared to the traditional teaching group, students in the PBL, TBL, and CP combined teaching group showed significant improvements in doctor-patient communication skills, active information retrieval abilities, learning interest levels, team discussions, and clinical logical thinking abilities (P

Abstract

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the main type of lung cancer, accounting for 85% to 90% of cases. The use of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) has greatly improved the prognosis of NSCLC patients. However, with prolonged drug use, the inevitable occurrence of acquired resistance leads to disease recurrence, progression, and even patient's death. Metabolic reprogramming is one of the hallmarks of malignant tumors and refers to metabolic changes in tumor cells to meet energy needs. In various cancers, lipid synthesis, distribution, and catabolism of tumor cells are altered to adapt to the lack of nutrients and oxygen in the tumor microenvironment. This paper focuses on how lipid metabolism reprogramming in NSCLC leads to resistance to EGFR-TKIs and how modulation of lipid metabolism increases the sensitivity of NSCLC to EGFR-TKIs. It summarizes and consolidates existing research progress to provide a reference for basic research and clinical treatment of EGFR-TKIs resistance in NSCLC.

Abstract

Chlorella contains a variety of polysaccharides with complex composition and structure, which are composed of various monosaccharides such as galactose, rhamnose, glucose, arabinose, mannose, xylose and glucuronic acid. The glycosidic linkages of polysaccharides are diverse, including α-1,6-glucose, β-1,3-galactose, α-1,6-galactose, α-1,3-rhamnose, α-1,2-rhamnose, α-1,5-arabinose, α-1,6-mannose and β-1,4-xylose. Some polysaccharides are modified by methylation, sulfation and acetylation. Meanwhile, many studies have shown that polysaccharides have multiple functions such as immunoregulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tumor, antibacterial and intestinal flora-regulatory effects. At present, monosaccharide composition analysis, methylation combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (2D-NMR) spectroscopy are mainly used for research on the structure of chlorella polysaccharides such as analysis of monosaccharide composition, glycosidic bond types, branch chain substitution positions and branch chain types. This review hopes to provide valuable information for the fine structural analysis and structure-activity relationship study of polysaccharides from Chlorella.

Abstract

The effective operations of closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) can help companies achieve sustainability goals and boost economic performance. In practice, CLSCs must collect used products, a complex process that is often constrained by collection station capacity. However, how collection station capacity influences the bullwhip effect and the dynamic performance of CLSCs remains unclear. Here, we develop a system dynamics model for CLSCs that integrates traditional manufacturing with remanufacturing and explore the effects of the stochastic capacity constraint of the collection station on the bullwhip effect of CLSCs. We find that, generally speaking, a collection station with looser or more stable capacity constraints tends to reduce bullwhip of CLSCs. However, pertinent interactions emerge between the relevant parameters; in some situations, reducing the capacity level of a collection station may be reasonable and beneficial when the stochastic capacity constraint is very stable, or when customer demand is highly variable. We also consider the partial backlog in return collection, a phenomenon associated with the stochastic capacity constraint of a collection station, and identify a new trade-off between CLSC sustainability and economic performance. Ultimately, our findings provide evidence that will guide managers' plans for the capacity management of return collection in CLSCs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
