Radiation-induced acoustics (RIA) shows promise in advancing radiological imaging and radiotherapy dosimetry methods. However, RIA signals often require extensive averaging to achieve reasonable signal-to-noise ratios, which increases patient radiation exposure and limits real-time applications. Therefore, this paper proposes a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based filtering approach to denoise the RIA signals and avoid extensive averaging. The algorithm was benchmarked against low-pass filters and tested on various types of RIA sources, including low-energy X-rays, high-energy X-rays, and protons. The proposed method significantly reduced the required averages (1000 times less averaging for low-energy X-ray RIA, 32 times less averaging for high-energy X-ray RIA, and 4 times less averaging for proton RIA) and demonstrated robustness in filtering signals from different sources of radiation. The coif5 wavelet in conjunction with the sqtwolog threshold selection algorithm yielded the best results. The proposed DWT filtering method enables high-quality, automated, and robust filtering of RIA signals, with a performance similar to low-pass filtering, aiding in the clinical translation of radiation-based acoustic imaging for radiology and radiation oncology.

The article discusses primary (technological factors) relating to the technology and conditions of spraying and secondary ones, which are derived from technological factors affecting the structure formation and properties of coatings. The paper examines the influence of spraying distance, dispersion of sprayed particles, wire material, etc. on the properties of electric arc coatings. Summarizing the results of research on the influence of factors of the electric arc spraying process on the structure formation and properties of coatings, the parameters of the electric arc spraying process were established, the method of preparing the surface before spraying was selected, etc. method of processing sprayed coatings.

Although evidence has suggested that social skills interventions yield social and symptom benefits for autistic children, significant variability in outcomes between studies has raised important questions regarding efficacy and moderators of intervention outcomes (i.e., which interventions yield positive effects and which autistic children are most likely to benefit). The efficacy of a comprehensive psychosocial program for autistic children, ages 7-12 years (N = 88) was tested in a prior randomized controlled trial (RCT). Significant effects favoring the program group (versus waitlist controls) were found at posttest on measures of autism-feature severity, social/social-communication skills, social-cognitive understanding (nonliteral language), and global social skills, and these were maintained at 4-6 week follow-up. In this exploratory study, demographic and clinical variables were tested as potential moderators of outcomes from the prior RCT. Moderation effects were not evident for demographics, or child IQ, expressive language, autistic diagnostic symptoms, or baseline co-occurring externalizing or internalizing symptoms. Child receptive language appeared to moderate the outcome of nonliteral language only. Overall, program effects were, with one exception, unrelated to third variables.

Abstract Background Personalized modeling is a promising tool to improve abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture risk assessment. Computed tomography (CT) and quantitative flow (Q-flow) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely regarded as the gold standard for acquiring patient-specific geometry and velocity profiles, respectively. However, their frequent utilization is hindered by various drawbacks. Ultrasound is used extensively in current clinical practice and offers a safe, rapid and cost-effective method to acquire patient-specific geometries and velocity profiles. This study aims to extract and validate patient-specific velocity profiles from Doppler ultrasound and to examine the impact of the velocity profiles on computed hemodynamics. Methods Pulsed-wave Doppler (PWD) and color Doppler (CD) data were successfully obtained for six volunteers and seven patients and employed to extract the flow pulse and velocity profile over the cross-section, respectively. The US flow pulses and velocity profiles as well as generic Womersley profiles were compared to the MRI velocities and flows. Additionally, CFD simulations were performed to examine the combined impact of the velocity profile and flow pulse. Results Large discrepancies were found between the US and MRI velocity profiles over the cross-sections, with differences for US in the same range as for the Womersley profile. Differences in flow pulses revealed that US generally performs best in terms of maximum flow, forward flow and ratios between forward and backward flow, whereas it often overestimates the backward flow. Both spatial patterns and magnitude of the computed hemodynamics were considerably affected by the prescribed velocity boundary conditions. Larger errors and smaller differences between the US and generic CFD cases were observed for patients compared to volunteers. Conclusion These results show that it is feasible to acquire the patient-specific flow pulse from PWD data, provided that the PWD acquisition could be performed proximal to the aneurysm region, and resulted in a triphasic flow pattern. However, obtaining the patient-specific velocity profile over the cross-section using CD data is not reliable. For the volunteers, utilizing the US flow profile instead of the generic flow profile generally resulted in improved performance, whereas this was the case in more than half of the cases for the patients.

Children with ASD are more likely to be involved in bullying compared to typically developing peers; however, studies rarely examine bullying perpetration and the contributing factors among this population. The primary aim of this study was to examine the extent to which parent-reported ASD symptoms, social skills, and comorbid externalizing and internalizing symptoms predicted bullying perpetration in a sample of 390 children with ASD without intellectual disability. Findings from hierarchical regression analyses indicated that social skill deficits, externalizing symptoms (i.e., hyperactivity, aggression, and conduct problems), and depressive symptoms were associated with higher likelihood of bullying perpetration, while severity of ASD symptoms and anxiety were not significant predictors. Further research is needed to better understand bullying perpetration among children with ASD.

This study reports on two pilot studies developing a telemedicine parent-delivered social skills intervention (PDSSI) for school-aged children with ASD. Pilot study 1 involved initial development, training, and feasibility testing for six parent-child pairs using in-person training and fidelity monitoring. Findings from study 1 supported the intervention procedures through high satisfaction and parent implementation fidelity. Pilot study 2 tested the intervention with 11 parent-child pairs using telemedicine for parent training, fidelity monitoring, and child outcome testing. Findings from study 2 supported feasibility using telemedicine. Study 2 also provided initial data indicating improvements in child social skills knowledge (d = 1.15), social skills (d = 1.75), and ASD characteristics (d = 0.92). Parents reported improvements in their own empowerment (d = 1.09) and stress (d = 0.44). Some outcomes were assessed and maintained at a 16-week follow-up. Overall, results support ongoing testing of this telemedicine PDSSI.

Abstract The global distribution of tropical fire ants (Solenopsis geminata) raises concerns about anaphylaxis and serious medical issues in numerous countries. This investigation focused on the cross-reactivity of allergen-specific IgE antibodies between S. geminata and Myrmecia pilosula (Jack Jumper ant) venom proteins due to the potential emergence of cross-reactive allergies in the future. Antibody epitope analysis unveiled one predominant conformational epitope on Sol g 1.1 (PI score of 0.989), followed by Sol g 2.2, Sol g 4.1, and Sol g 3.1. Additionally, Pilosulin 1 showed high allergenic potential (PI score of 0.94), with Pilosulin 5a (PI score of 0.797) leading in B-cell epitopes. The sequence analysis indicated that Sol g 2.2 and Sol g 4.1 pose a high risk of cross-reactivity with Pilosulins 4.1a and 5a. Furthermore, the cross-reactivity of recombinant Sol g proteins with M. pilosula-specific IgE antibodies from 41 patients revealed high cross-reactivity for r-Sol g 3.1 (58.53%) and r-Sol g 4.1 (43.90%), followed by r-Sol g 2.2 (26.82%), and r-Sol g 1.1 (9.75%). Therefore, this study demonstrates cross-reactivity (85.36%) between S. geminata and M. pilosula, highlighting the allergenic risk. Understanding these reactions is vital for the prevention of severe allergic reactions, especially in individuals with pre-existing Jumper Jack ant allergy, informing future management strategies.

Photoacoustic imaging creates light-induced ultrasonic signals to provide valuable information on internal body structures and tissue morphology non-invasively. A multi-aperture photoacoustic imaging (MP-PAI) system is an improvement over conventional photoacoustic imaging (PAI) systems in terms of resolution, contrast, and field of view. Previously, a prototype MP-PAI system was introduced based on multiple capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUTs) with shared channels, such that each element in a CMUT shares its channel with its counterpart in other CMUTs. The system uses the biasing voltages of the CMUTs to switch between them and multiplex the received signals in time. Notwithstanding all the enhancements, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) remains limited in PAI. To address this issue, we are proposing a multi-aperture encoding scheme (MAES) to further increase the SNR in a multi-aperture PAI system. The proposed method involves receiving signals with multiple CMUTs simultaneously based on an encoding matrix, instead of switching between individual CMUTs. As a result, shared channels contain a superposition of signals, which are later recovered by applying a decoding matrix. Here, an analytical model for computing SNR with an arbitrary encoding sequence is presented, and the method is validated through numerical simulations and in an experimental study. Bipolar and unipolar encoding sequences were considered for the experiments. The numerical results show, in comparison to conventional MP-PAI, that MAES will obtain an SNR gain of 5.8 and 8.8 dB for S-sequence and truncated Hadamard encodings, respectively, when using 15 transducers. In experiments, three transducers are encoded by S-sequences and show 1.5 dB improvement in SNR over conventional MP-PAI method, which aligns well with the analytical model.

BACKGROUND. According to the modern standards, in case of an acute blood loss, the pathogenetic provision of fluid therapy is based on the ROSE/D concept. According to this concept, after the initial emergency restoration of circulating blood volume, the fluid compartments should be optimized with further stabilization of the condition. OBJECTIVE. To study the fluid compartments in mine-explosive injuries victims. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 28 servicemen aged 20 to 51 years (average age 34.6±10.3 years) who were in the intensive care unit (ICU) with mine-explosive injuries of various localization (chest, abdomen, limbs) were examined. The victims were given fluid therapy in a restrictive mode. The condition of fluid compartments was determined by the method of bioimpedance measurement and calculation methods. RESULTS. On the first day of ICU stay, the total amount of water in the body exceeded the norm by 3 %. At the same time, the volume of intracellular water was significantly lower than normal by 22 %. On the second day, the total amount of water in the body normalized, but the indicator of intracellular water increased by 9.5 % of the reference. CONCLUSIONS. It is shown that despite the restoration of the circulating blood volume, there is an intracellular fluid deficit, which, even in the conditions of the restrictive fluid therapy, is replaced by a slight compensatory intracellular hyperhydration the next day when the intravascular volume of fluid is normalized.

This study assessed the reliability and criterion-related validity of teacher ratings on the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist for a sample of 133 children, aged 6-11 years, with autism spectrum disorder (without intellectual disability). Internal consistency for the total sample was 0.93. For a subsample, test-retest reliability was very good (r = 0.74; intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.85) at a 9-month interval. Child age, intelligence quotient, language abilities, and sex were not associated with the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist total score. The Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist total score was inversely and strongly related to teacher ratings of autism spectrum disorder symptom severity. Significant positive correlations (moderate-to-high) were found between the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist and prosocial skills scales and significant negative correlations (low-to-moderate) with problem behavior scales on a broad measure of child functioning. Implications and suggestions for future study are discussed.

The Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist measures social/social-communication skills and behavioral flexibility/regulation of children with autism spectrum disorder without intellectual disability. Prior studies provided support for the reliability and criterion-related validity of the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist total score for these children; however, no studies have examined the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist factor structure. This exploratory factor analysis examined the factor structure and internal consistency of parent ratings on the Adapted Skillstreaming Checklist for a sample of 331 children, ages 6-12 years, with autism spectrum disorder without intellectual disability. Results yielded a correlated three-factor solution. The individual factors and total score demonstrated very good internal consistency reliability. Findings supported the presence and interpretability of three subscales, as well as derivation of a total composite reflecting overall prosocial and adaptive skills and behaviors. Implications for assessment and research are discussed.

Introduction: In this paper we introduce in vivo multi-aperture ultrasound imaging and elastography of the abdominal aorta. Monitoring of the geometry and growth of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is paramount for risk stratification and intervention planning. However, such an assessment is limited by the lateral lumen-wall contrast and resolution of conventional ultrasound. Here, an in vivo dual-aperture bistatic imaging approach is shown to improve abdominal ultrasound and strain imaging quality significantly. By scanning the aorta from different directions, a larger part of the vessel circumference can be visualized.Methods: In this first-in-man volunteer study, the performance of multi-aperture ultrasound imaging and elastography of the abdominal aortic wall was assessed in 20 healthy volunteers. Dual-probe acquisition was performed in which two curved array transducers were aligned in the same imaging plane. The transducers alternately transmit and both probes receive simultaneously on each transmit event, which allows for the reconstruction of four ultrasound signals. Automatic probe localization was achieved by optimizing the coherence of the trans-probe data, using a gradient descent algorithm. Speckle-tracking was performed on the four individual bistatic signals, after which the respective axial displacements were compounded and strains were calculated.Results: Using bistatic multi-aperture ultrasound imaging, the image quality of the ultrasound images, i.e., the angular coverage of the wall, was improved which enables accurate estimation of local motion dynamics and strain in the abdominal aortic wall. The motion tracking error was reduced from 1.3 mm ± 0.63 mm to 0.16 mm ± 0.076 mm, which increased the circumferential elastographic signal-to-noise ratio (SNRe) by 12.3 dB ± 8.3 dB on average, revealing more accurate and homogeneous strain estimates compared to single-perspective ultrasound.Conclusion: Multi-aperture ultrasound imaging and elastography is feasible in vivo and can provide the clinician with vital information about the anatomical and mechanical state of AAAs in the future.

The Social Competence Observation Scale (SCOS) is an objective observational measure developed to assess the social performance of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This paper describes development of the SCOS and results of initial testing of reliability and treatment sensitivity for a sample of 12 children, ages 4-6 years, with ASD. Based on observations, the measure can yield three scores including a social impairment severity, change, and responder status score. Results suggested good-to-excellent reliability (inter-observer agreement and test-retest) and the SCOS was treatment sensitive to changes resulting from the intervention (at the social impairment severity score, change score, and responder status levels). Lastly, the effect size based on the SCOS social impairment severity score improvements (baseline-to-post-treatment) for the coders was large and was comparable to parent ratings on a standardized measure of ASD social impairment symptom severity. Implications and suggestions for future study are discussed.

Cardiovascular tissue engineering is a promising approach to develop grafts that, in contrast to current replacement grafts, have the capacity to grow and remodel like native tissues. This approach largely depends on cell-driven tissue growth and remodeling, which are highly complex processes that are difficult to control inside the scaffolds used for tissue engineering. For several tissue engineering approaches, adverse tissue growth and remodeling outcomes were reported, such as aneurysm formation in vascular grafts, and leaflet retraction in heart valve grafts. It is increasingly recognized that the outcome of tissue growth and remodeling, either physiological or pathological, depends at least partly on the establishment of a homeostatic mechanical state, where one or more mechanical quantities in a tissue are maintained in equilibrium. To design long-term functioning tissue engineering strategies, understanding how scaffold parameters such as geometry affect the mechanical state of a construct, and how this state guides tissue growth and remodeling, is therefore crucial. Here, we studied how anisotropic versus isotropic mechanical loading-as imposed by initial scaffold geometry-influences tissue growth, remodeling, and the evolution of the mechanical state and geometry of tissue-engineered cardiovascular constructs in vitro. Using a custom-built bioreactor platform and nondestructive mechanical testing, we monitored the mechanical and geometric changes of elliptical and circular, vascular cell-seeded, polycaprolactone-bisurea scaffolds during 14 days of dynamic loading. The elliptical and circular scaffold geometries were designed using finite element analysis, to induce anisotropic and isotropic dynamic loading, respectively, with similar maximum stretch when cultured in the bioreactor platform. We found that the initial scaffold geometry-induced (an)isotropic loading of the engineered constructs differentially dictated the evolution of their mechanical state and geometry over time, as well as their final structural organization. These findings demonstrate that controlling the initial mechanical state of tissue-engineered constructs via scaffold geometry can be used to influence tissue growth and remodeling and determine tissue outcomes.

The paper considers possibilities to increase the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and service life for parts of machines and mechanisms via their hardening and renovating using electric arc coatings characterized by high density, adhesion strength, and micro hardness. Also, the possibility of controlling the properties of restored surfaces owing to choice of the related equipment with required structure and characteristics in order to prolong the service life of machinery parts is shown. The right choice of equipment for spraying makes it possible to increase the speed and temperature of the spraying gas and particles, reduce the droplet diameter, increase the density and reduce the oxidation of coatings. The influence of spray factors such as the flow rate and pressure of working gases, composition of combustion mixture, spraying distance, dispersion of the spray, properties of wire material, etc. on the properties of the coatings obtained has been investigated.

Integrated bioinformatics tools have created more efficient and robust methods to overcome in vitro challenges and have been widely utilized for the investigation of food proteins and the generation of peptide sequences. This study aimed to analyze the physicochemical properties and bioactivities of novel peptides derived from hydrolyzed milkfish (Chanos chanos) protein sequences and to discover their potential angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)- and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPPIV)-inhibitory activities using machine learning-based tools, including BIOPEP-UWM, PeptideRanker, and the molecular docking software HADDOCK 2.4. Nine and three peptides were predicted to have ACE- and DPPIV-inhibitory activities, respectively. The DPPIV-inhibitory peptides were predicted to inhibit the compound with no known specific mode. Meanwhile, two tetrapeptides (MVWH and PPPS) were predicted to possess a competitive mode of ACE inhibition by directly binding to the tetra-coordinated Zn ion. Among all nine discovered ACE-inhibitory peptides, only the PPPS peptide satisfied the drug-likeness analysis requirements with no violations of the Lipinski rule of five and should be further investigated in vitro.

This study assessed the potential short-term effects of COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions on ratings of ASD and comorbid symptoms severity and adaptive functioning of 69 youth, ages 8-16 years with ASD without intellectual disability. Parent/caregiver ratings were being collected in fall and spring over approximately two years when the restrictions were imposed four months prior to the final data collection point. Results indicated no significant changes in parent/caregiver ratings of ASD symptom severity, comorbid symptoms severity, social skills, or adaptive behaviors following the stay-at-home restrictions and little variability across the four data collection points. Although findings suggested minimal short-term effects on these symptoms and adaptive skills, ongoing monitoring is needed to assess longer-term impacts.

Nowadays, the pace of social and economic development is constantly growing, which has led to many negative effects. In order to stop this negative impact, reference should be made to the assumptions of sustainable development (SD), and young people – Generation Z – should be considered its main promoters. The main objective of this article is to present Generation Z’s perception of sustainable development in Poland. A Computer-assisted web interviewing survey (CAWI, N=1172) was conducted to understand the basic demographics, general issues, SD in a daily context, and SD-related knowledge in 936 cities of Poland. The results have shown that Generation Z in Poland recognises the social and inclusive role of SD. Cost of commodities, social disparities and conflict, and disrupted economic growth were identified as the emerging challenges for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Polish cities.

Abstract To improve the assessment of carotid plaque vulnerability, a comprehensive characterization of their composition is paramount. Multispectral photoacoustic imaging (MSPAI) can provide plaque composition based on their absorption spectra. However, although various spectral unmixing methods have been developed to characterize different tissue constituents, plaque analysis remains a challenge since its composition is highly complex and diverse. In this study, we employed an adapted piecewise convex multiple-model endmember detection method to identify carotid plaque constituents. Additionally, we explore the selection of the imaging wavelengths in linear models by conditioning the coefficient matrix and its synergy with our unmixing approach. We verified our method using plaque mimicking phantoms and performed ex-vivo MSPAI on carotid endarterectomy samples in a spectral range from 500 to 1300 nm to identify the main spectral features of plaque materials for vulnerability assessment. After imaging, the samples were processed for histological analysis to validate the photoacoustic decomposition. Results show that our approach can perform spectral unmixing and classification of highly heterogeneous biological samples without requiring an extensive fluence correction, enabling the identification of relevant components to assess plaque vulnerability.

Due to the widespread use of shellfish ingredients in food products, accurate food labelling is urgently needed for consumers with shellfish allergies. Most crustacean allergen detection systems target the immunorecognition of the allergenic protein tropomyosin. However, this mode of detection may be affected by an origin-dependent protein composition. This study determined if the geographic location of capture, or aquaculture, influenced the allergenic protein profiles of Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon), one of the most farmed and consumed shrimp species worldwide. Protein composition was analysed in shrimp from nine different locations in the Asia–Pacific by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, and mass spectrometry. Ten of the twelve known shrimp allergens were detected, but with considerable differences between locations. Sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein, myosin light chain, and tropomyosin were the most abundant allergens in all locations. Hemocyanin-specific antibodies could identify up to six different isoforms, depending on the location of origin. Similarly, tropomyosin abundance varied by up to 13 times between locations. These findings suggest that allergen abundance may be related to shrimp origin and, thus, shrimp origin might directly impact the readout of commercial crustacean allergen detection kits, most of which target tropomyosin, and this should be considered in food safety assessments.

Spectral photoacoustic imaging (sPAI) is an emerging modality that allows real-time, non-invasive, and radiation-free assessment of tissue, benefiting from their optical contrast. sPAI is ideal for morphology assessment in arterial plaques, where plaque composition provides relevant information on plaque progression and its vulnerability. However, since sPAI is affected by spectral coloring, general spectroscopy unmixing techniques cannot provide reliable identification of such complicated sample composition. In this study, we employ a convolutional neural network (CNN) for the classification of plaque composition using sPAI. For this study, nine carotid endarterectomy plaques were imaged and were then annotated and validated using multiple histological staining. Our results show that a CNN can effectively differentiate constituent regions within plaques without requiring fluence or spectra correction, with the potential to eventually support vulnerability assessment in plaques.

Regulating the smoothness and temperature of the stream of transporting gas and particles, you can change the diameter of the droplet, increase the width and reduce the oxidation of the coating. The results of comparative analysis of the properties of coatings applied by electric arc spraying (EAS) using the products of combustion of propane-air mixture and gas-flame spraying (FSP) using gas-air mixture are presented. Under optimal conditions of the spraying process, the porosity of the coatings obtained by electric arc spraying is much lower compared to gas-flame spraying: 8-10% and 20-30%, respectively. Adhesion strength of coatings obtained by electric arc spraying increased by 1.8-2.2 times (from 30-40 MPa in gas-flame spraying to 100 MPa in electric arc), wear resistance increased by 2-2yu5 times.

Specialized computational chemistry packages have permanently reshaped the landscape of chemical and materials science by providing tools to support and guide experimental efforts and for the prediction of atomistic and electronic properties. In this regard, electronic structure packages have played a special role by using first-principle-driven methodologies to model complex chemical and materials processes. Over the past few decades, the rapid development of computing technologies and the tremendous increase in computational power have offered a unique chance to study complex transformations using sophisticated and predictive many-body techniques that describe correlated behavior of electrons in molecular and condensed phase systems at different levels of theory. In enabling these simulations, novel parallel algorithms have been able to take advantage of computational resources to address the polynomial scaling of electronic structure methods. In this paper, we briefly review the NWChem computational chemistry suite, including its history, design principles, parallel tools, current capabilities, outreach, and outlook.

The purpose of the article is а generalize standardly-legal instructions of the EU, UN and IFLA on adaptation of work of libraries in the conditions of extraordinary circumstances, also to concise coverage and generalization of the main results of research on the use of foreign electronic journal documents, which were conducted and are currently being conducted in the Reading Hall of Foreign Periodicals of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Methodology of the research has been based on systemic and structural approaches, on methods of comparative, statistical and source analysis, including interdisciplinary approach. Scientific novelty. Escalating competition in the information services market, the emergence of the effect of a shortage of users and simultaneous increase of their expectations put the libraries and librariansin front of the need to search for innovative approaches to servicing, which is manifested, in particular, in conducting structural and functional transformation of library services.The article analyzes number of imperative documents of the leading world library institutions about main tendencies of development and problems of libraries adaptation in extraordinary conditions. The normative-legal measures of the IFLA, EU and UN of regulatory regulation of relations in the library industry for new realities are analyzed. The terms of "library marketing" are defined. The history and priority directions of creation of readers' service system by foreign licensed magazines which are one of the important and significant electronic resources of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, are covered. The consequences of the research work and practice of electronic periodicals collection forming in the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine are presented. The main results of practical work and research the use of foreign electronic journal documents (hereinafter: foreign electronic journal documents) visitors of the Reading Hall of Foreign Periodicals of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Conclusions. The author considers the new system of library and information services using the example of work of the Reading Hall of Foreign Periodicals of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. Its main characteristics are: complex servicing of readers with periodicals resources; expanding range of information services, the use of methods of personalization in service (customer-oriented). The new systemis based on a complementary and mutually enriching mixture of functional areas (printing and electronic resources) of this type of activity. Important conditions for enhancing the effectiveness of library and information services are the spatiotemporal concentration of services and combination of the source elements. Universalization and personalization of services, qualification approach of staff of the of the Reading Hall of Foreign Periodicals to their work, sincere desire to help readers in their search for information yield positive result.
