Tubular adenomas of the breast are rare benign epithelium-derived tumours, and so few cases have been reported. Most often, the tumours are palpable, well-circumscribed masses in women of childbearing age and are commonly diagnosed as fibroadenomas both clinically and radiographically. We describe the case of a premenopausal patient with tubular adenoma of the breast who presented with small nipple discharge and a palpable breast mass. On imaging, tubular adenomas are practically indistinguishable from fibroadenomas and most commonly present as oval, circumscribed masses that are hypoechoic on ultrasound. On magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), tubular adenomas may present as lobulated or oval masses with a hyperintense signal on T2-weighted imaging and inhomogeneous internal enhancement on dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI. Pathologic findings after resection of the mass confirmed the diagnosis of tubular adenoma.

Ghee is a traditional Tibetan dairy product with high-fat content, low yield, plasticity, caseation, and rich nutrition. In this study, we analyzed the diversity of microbial communities in yak milk and ghee samples at high and low altitudes, especially the Lactobacillus genus, and further used metabolomic techniques to compare the differences in metabolites in yak ghee at different altitudes. The results showed that the increase in altitude had a significant and generally inhibitory effect on the microbial community diversity in milk ghee, and yak milk at high altitude was abundant in nutrients, which could antagonize the negative impact of increased altitude. Using non-targeted metabolomics, we infer the composition of flavor compounds in ghee: nine kinds of carboxylic acids, 11 kinds of esters, six kinds of ketones, two kinds of alcohols, and four kinds of alkene compounds, among which the key flavor compounds are dl-2-(acetylamino)-3-phenylephrine acid, 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-propanone, sebacic acid, Lysope 18:1, and uracil 1-beta-d-arabinofuranoside. These flavor substances are found in Lactococcus, Lactobacillus, and Streptococcus. With the participation of Lactobacillus, it is synthesized through biosynthesis of alkaloids derived from ornithine, lysine, and nicotine acid and glyoxylate and decarboxylate metabolism, among which Lactococcus plays a key role. In this study, a variety of lactic acid bacteria related to ghee fermentation were screened out, revealing the composition of volatile flavor compounds in Gannan yak milk ghee in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and providing a reference for further key volatile flavor compounds and the formation mechanism of flavor compounds.

Maternal care is critically important for the survival of offspring in various animals. Spiders in the family Lycosidae are known for their hunting ability and maternal care behaviors. Predation on newly hatched spiderlings (pulli) by mother spiders decreases when they come into contact, and they carry the pulli on their dorsal surface. However, the factors inducing maternal care in lycosid spiders have not been elucidated. In this study, we investigated maternal care in Pardosa pseudoannulata (Araneae, Lycosidae) females. We proposed that the physical interaction between pulli and mother spiders induces maternal care via m‐aminophenylacetylene (m‐A), a novel regulator of maternal care. The presence of pulli on the dorsal abdomen of non‐mother spiders suppressed pulli predation and increased the pulli‐carrying rate, and the absence of pulli on the mother spiders increased pulli predation and decreased the pulli‐carrying rate. The compound m‐A was abundant in mother spiders, and it could be induced in non‐mother spiders when they carried pulli. The topical application of m‐A to non‐mother spiders and m‐A injection decreased pulli predation and increased the pulli‐carrying rate, respectively; these findings indicate that m‐A in both internal tissues and the integument is required for the induction of maternal care behavior, and the interaction between pulli and females induces the production of m‐A. In‐depth study of the regulatory mechanism of maternal care will enhance our understanding of spider biology and behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

African swine fever virus (ASFV), a highly virulent double-stranded DNA virus, poses a significant threat to global pig farming, with mortality rates in domestic pigs reaching up to 100%. Originating in Kenya in 1921, ASFV has since proliferated to Western Europe, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and most recently China in 2018, resulting in substantial global agricultural losses. Antigenic epitopes, recognized by the immune system's T cells and B cells, are pivotal in antiviral immune responses. The identification and characterization of these antigenic epitopes can offer invaluable insights into the immune response against ASFV and aid in the development of innovative immunotherapeutic strategies. Vaccine adjuvants, substances that amplify the body's specific immune response to antigens, also play a crucial role. This review provides an overview of the progress in studying T/B-cell epitopes in ASFV proteins and ASFV vaccine adjuvants, highlighting their role in the immune response and potential use in new vaccine development. A high-sensitivity pH sensor based on an AlGaN/GaN high-electron mobility transistor (HEMT) with a 10 nm thick Au-gated sensing membrane was investigated. The Au nanolayer as a sensing membrane was deposited by electron-beam evaporation and patterned onto the GaN cap layer, which provides more surface-active sites and a more robust adsorption capacity for hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH−) and thus the sensitivity of the sensor can be significantly enhanced. A quasi-reference electrode was used to minimize the sensing system for the measurement of the microliter solution. The measurement and analysis results demonstrate that the fabricated sensor exhibits a high potential sensitivity of 58.59 mV/pH, which is very close to the Nernstian limit. The current sensitivity is as high as 372.37 μA/pH in the pH range from 4.0 to 9.18, under a 3.5 V drain-source voltage and a 0 V reference-source voltage. Comparison experiments show that the current sensitivity of the Au-gated sensor can reach 3.9 times that of the SiO2-gated sensor. Dynamic titration experiments reveal the pH sensor's ability to promptly respond to immediate pH variations. These findings indicate that this pH sensor can meet most application requirements for advanced medical and chemical analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ionic FETs have enormous potential for energy conversion, sensing, and ionic circuits due to their efficient regulation of the nanochannel. Here ionic FETs based on single‐crystal silicon nanopores and the rectification of the fabricated devices are studied. The electrical characterization results demonstrated that since the silicon‐based nanopores have the advantage of modulating the surface charge due to their semiconductor nature and benefitting from the effective 3D gating effect on the nanochannel, the magnitude and polarity of surface charge can be modulated by the gate voltage. The rectification effect can be adjusted by applying a certain voltage and fulfilling a transition between anion selectivity and cation selectivity when the surface charge polarity is reversed. Moreover, current–voltage characteristics of the reported ionic FET can be switched between ohmic and diode‐like regimes. The proposed ionic FETs supply a novel platform to study the ionic properties and have great potential to be applied in large‐scale ionic circuits due to their excellent performance. Finally, simulation results prove the surface charge modulated by the gate voltage determines the magnitude and direction of rectification, which is consistent with the reported experiment result. Abstract Background The emerging of psychological problems triggered by COVID-19 particularly in children have been extensively highlighted and emphasized, but original research in this respect is still lagging behind. Therefore, we designed this study to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and the effectiveness and attitudes towards online education among Chinese children aged 7–15 years. Methods A detailed questionnaire, comprising of 62 questions was designed and parents or caretakers of 7 to 15 years old children were invited to participate via WeChat, a multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile payment app, which is widely used by the Chinese population. A total of 668 parents across different regions of China were included. Results During COVID-19 pandemic, 20.7 and 7.2% children report experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depressive symptoms due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PTSD and SMFQ-P scores are significantly higher in middle school and boarding school students compared to primary and day school students. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that school system and province of origin are factors significantly associated with developing PSTD symptoms. 44.3% respondents feel online education is effective in gaining knowledge and improving practical and communications skills. 78.0% believe the online education system is efficient. Overall 79.8% respondents are satisfied and children can adapt to this new education system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we found 1 in five children have PTSD and 1 in 14 children have depressive symptoms. Conclusion In summary, COVID-19 epidemic has caused PTSD and depression symptoms among Chinese children aged 7 to 15 years. In general, a large proportion of respondents are satisfied with online education, but still a substantial proportion of students are not comfortable with this new form of learning. Authorities should optimize online education systems and implement effective interventions to cope with the psychological effects of COVID-19 on children, as it is affecting the global population and remains uncertain when it will end.

The molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)-based photodetectors are facing two challenges: the insensitivity to polarized light and the low photoresponsivity. Herein, three-dimensional (3D) field-effect transistors (FETs) based on monolayer MoS2 were fabricated by applying a self–rolled-up technique. The unique microtubular structure makes 3D MoS2 FETs become polarization sensitive. Moreover, the microtubular structure not only offers a natural resonant microcavity to enhance the optical field inside but also increases the light-MoS2 interaction area, resulting in a higher photoresponsivity. Photoresponsivities as high as 23.8 and 2.9 A/W at 395 and 660 nm, respectively, and a comparable polarization ratio of 1.64 were obtained. The fabrication technique of the 3D MoS2 FET could be transferred to other two-dimensional materials, which is very promising for high-performance polarization-sensitive optical and optoelectronic applications.
