26. Vertical behavior of a suction caisson using state-dependent sand friction angles.

Abstract

The vertical bearing capacity of the suction caissons is vital to the safety of marine jacket foundations. The sand friction angle is a key parameter for calculating the vertical bearing capacity. The sand friction angle is state-dependent, which is affected by the compact state and stress state. However, this effect is neglected in the current study, resulting in deviations in the calculation results of the vertical bearing capacity. Therefore, a novel method is preliminarily proposed to account for this impact while evaluating the vertical bearing capacity of suction foundations. First, a new friction angle is expressed as a function of relative density and soil depth, which differs significantly from the commonly used constant friction angle. The state-dependent sand friction angle is available. Then, the general and simplified vertical bearing capacity formulas are clarified. Four key parameters in the former and a new first-order coefficient in the latter are identified. The calculation procedure based on the new friction angle is also specified. Finally, combined with model tests, a comparison study is carried out. The results show that the calculation results using the new friction angle are more accurate and practical. © 2018. The American Astronomical Society. All rights reserved. We report the photometry of six transits of the hot Jupiter HAT-P-29b obtained from 2013 October to 2015 January. We analyze the new light curves, in combination with the published photometric, Doppler velocimetric, and spectroscopic measurements, finding an updated orbital ephemeris for the HAT-P-29 system, TC TDB [0 2456170.5494 15 BJD = ] and P=5.723390(13) days. This result is 17.63 s (4.0s) longer than the previously published value, amounting to errors exceeding 2.5 hr at the time of writing (on UTC 2018 June 1). The measured transit mid-times for HAT-P-29b show no compelling evidence of timing anomalies from a linear model, which rules out the presence of perturbers with masses greater than 0.6, 0.7, 0.5, and 0.4 M? near the 1:2, 2:3, 3:2, and 2:1 resonances with HAT-P-29b, respectively.

43. Catalytic Hydrogenation of Post-Mature Hydrocarbon Source Rocks Under Deep-Derived Fluids: An Example of Early Cambrian Yurtus Formation, Tarim Basin, NW China

Abstract

As a link between the internal and external basin, the deep derived fluids play a key role during the processes of hydrocarbon (HC) formation and accumulation in the form of organic-inorganic interaction. Two questions remain to be answered: How do deep-derived fluids affect HC generation in source rocks by carrying a large amount of matter and energy, especially in post-mature source rocks with weak HC generation capability? Can hydrogen and catalysts from deep sources significantly increase the HC generation potential of the source rock? In this study, we selected the post-mature kerogen samples of the early Cambrian Yurtus Formation in the Tarim Basin of China. Under the catalytic environment of ZnCl2 and MoS2, closed system gold tube thermal simulation experiments were conducted to quantitatively verify the contribution of catalytic hydrogenation to "HC promotion" by adding H2. The catalytic hydrogenation increased the kerogen HC generation capacity by 1.4–2.1 times. The catalytic hydrogenation intensity reaction increased with temperature. The drying coefficient of the generated gas decreased significantly as the increasing yield of heavy HC gas. In the simulation experiment, alkane δ13C becomes lighter after the catalytic hydrogenation experiment, while δ13CCO2 becomes heavier. In the process of catalytic hydrogenation, the number of gaseous products catalyzed by ZnCl2 is higher than that catalyzed by MoS2 under the same conditions, indicating that ZnCl2 is a better catalyst for the generation of gaseous yield. Meanwhile, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FFT) reaction was happened in the catalytic hydrogenation process. The simulation experiment demonstrates that hydrogen-rich components and metal elements in deep-derived fluids have significant catalytic hydrogenation effects on organic-rich matter, which improved the HC generation efficiency of post-mature source rocks.
