We investigated nanoparticle formations of poly(acrylic acid-co-methyl methacrylate) (PAA-MMA) incorporating cisplatin and their antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. Methods: Cisplatin-incorporated nanoparticles were prepared through the ion-complex formation between acrylic acid and cisplatin. The anticancer activity of cisplatin-incorporated nanoparticles was assessed with CT26 colorectal carcinoma cells. Results: Cisplatin-incorporated nanoparticles have small particle sizes of less than 200 nm with spherical shapes. Drug content was increased according to the increase of the feeding amount of cisplatin and acrylic acid content in the copolymer. The higher acrylic acid content in the copolymer induced increase of particle size and decrease of zeta potential. Cisplatin-incorporated nanoparticles showed a similar growth-inhibitory effect against CT26 tumor cells in vitro. However, cisplatin-incorporated nanoparticles showed improved antitumor activity against an animal tumor xenograft model. Conclusion: We suggest that PAA-MMA nanoparticles incorporating cisplatin are promising carriers for an antitumor drug-delivery system. Allogeneic transplantation of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) offers great potential for treating liver fibrosis. However, owing to their intrinsic surface characteristics, bare EVs are non-specifically distributed in the liver tissue after systemic administration, leading to limited therapeutic efficacy. To target activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), which are responsible for hepatic fibrogenesis, vitamin A-coupled small EVs (V-EVs) were prepared by incorporating vitamin A derivative into the membrane of bare EVs. No significant differences were found in the particle size and morphology between bare and V-EVs. In addition, surface engineering of EVs did not affect the expression of surface marker proteins (e.g., CD63 and CD9), as demonstrated by flow cytometry. Owing to the surface incorporation of vitamin A, V-EVs were selectively taken up by activated HSCs via receptor-mediated endocytosis. When systemically administered to mice with liver fibrosis, V-EVs effectively targeted activated HSCs in the liver tissue, resulting in reversal of the fibrotic cascade. Consequently, even at a 10-fold lower dose, V-EVs exhibited comparable anti-fibrotic effects to those of bare EVs, substantiating their therapeutic potential for liver fibrosis., (Copyright © 2021. Despite the remarkable advances in therapeutics for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a large number of patients still lack effective countermeasures. Recently, the reprogramming of macrophages to an immunoregulatory phenotype has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for RA. Here, we report metabolically engineered exosomes that have been surface-modified for the targeted reprogramming of macrophages. Qualified exosomes were readily harvested from metabolically engineered stem cells by tangential flow filtration at a high yield while maintaining their innate immunomodulatory components. When systemically administered into mice with collagen-induced arthritis, these exosomes effectively accumulated in the inflamed joints, inducing a cascade of anti-inflammatory events via macrophage phenotype regulation. The level of therapeutic efficacy obtained with bare exosomes was achievable with the engineered exosomes of 10 times less dose. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are essential mediators in intercellular communication that have emerged as natural therapeutic nanomedicines for the treatment of intractable diseases. Their therapeutic applications, however, have been limited by unpredictable in vivo biodistribution after systemic administration. To control the in vivo fate of EVs, their surfaces should be properly edited, depending on the target site of action. Herein, based on bioorthogonal copper-free click chemistry (BCC), surface-edited EVs were prepared by using metabolically glycoengineered cells. First, the exogenous azide group was generated on the cellular surface through metabolic glycoengineering (MGE) using the precursor. Next, PEGylated hyaluronic acid, capable of binding specifically to the CD44-expressing cells, was labelled as the representative targeting moiety onto the cell surface by BCC. The surface-edited EVs effectively accumulated into the target tissues of the animal models with rheumatoid arthritis and tumour, primarily owing to prolonged circulation in the bloodstream and the active targeting mechanism. Overall, these results suggest that BCC combined with MGE is highly useful as a simple and safe approach for the surface modification of EVs to modulate their in vivo fate., Competing Interests: The authors declare the following competing interests: Y. The inhibition of α-glucosidase is used as a key clinical approach to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus and thus, we assessed the inhibitory effect of α-ketoglutaric acid (AKG) on α-glucosidase with both an enzyme kinetic assay and computational simulations. AKG bound to the active site and interacted with several key residues, including ASP68, PHE157, PHE177, PHE311, ARG312, TYR313, ASN412, ILE434 and ARG439, as detected by protein-ligand docking and molecular dynamics simulations. Subsequently, we confirmed the action of AKG on α-glucosidase as mixed-type inhibition with reversible and rapid binding. The relevant kinetic parameter IC 50 was measured (IC 50 = 1.738 ± 0.041 mM), and the dissociation constant was determined ( K i Slope = 0.46 ± 0.04 mM). Regarding the relationship between structure and activity, a high AKG concentration induced the slight modulation of the shape of the active site, as monitored by hydrophobic exposure. This tertiary conformational change was linked to AKG inhibition and mostly involved regional changes in the active site. Our study provides insight into the functional role of AKG due to its structural property of a hydroxyphenyl ring that interacts with the active site. We suggest that similar hydroxyphenyl ring-containing compounds targeting key residues in the active site might be potential α-glucosidase inhibitors. Pyrogallol is naturally found in aquatic plant and has been proposed as a substrate of tyrosinase. In this study, we evaluated the dual effect of pyrogallol on tyrosinase as an inhibitor in the presence of L‑DOPA simultaneously via integrating methods of enzyme kinetics and computational molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Pyrogallol was found to be a reversible inhibitor of tyrosinase in the presence of L‑DOPA and its induced mechanism was the parabolic non-competitive inhibition type (IC 50  = 0.772 ± 0.003 mM and K i  = 0.529 ± 0.022 mM). Kinetic measurements by real-time interval assay showed that pyrogallol induced rapid inactivation process composing with slight activations at the low dose. Spectrofluorimetry studies showed that pyrogallol mainly induced regional changes in the active site of tyrosinase accompanying with hydrophobic disruption at high dose. The computational MD simulations further revealed that pyrogallol could interact with several residues near the tyrosinase active site pocket such as HIS61, HIS85, HIS259, ASN260, HIS263, VAL283, and ALA296. Our study provides insight into the mechanism by which hydroxyl group composing pyrogallol inhibit tyrosinase and pyrogallol is a potential natural anti-pigmentation agent., (Copyright © 2018. Inhibition of α-glucosidase is directly associated with treatment of type 2 diabetes. In this regard, we conducted enzyme kinetics integrated with computational docking simulation to assess the inhibitory effect of raspberry ketone (RK) on α-glucosidase. RK bound to the active site of α-glucosidase and interacted with several key residues such as ASP68, TYR71, HIS111, PHE157, PHE158, PHE177, GLN181, ASP214, THR215, ASP349, ASP408, and ARG439, as detected by protein-ligand docking simulation. Subsequently, we confirmed the action of RK on α-glucosidase as the non-competitive type of inhibition in a reversible and rapidly binding manner. The relevant kinetic parameters were IC 50 =6.17±0.46mM and K i =7.939±0.211mM. Regarding the structure-activity relationship, the higher concentration of RK induced slight modulation of the shape of the active site as monitored by hydrophobic exposure. The tertiary conformational change was linked to RK inhibition, and mostly involved regional changes of the active site. Our study provides insight into the functional role of RK due to its structural property of a hydroxyphenyl ring that interacts with the active site of α-glucosidase. In this study we conducted serial kinetic studies integrated with computational simulations to judge the inhibitory effect of pyrogallol on α-glucosidase, due to the association between this enzyme and the treatment of type 2 diabetes. As a result, we found that pyrogallol bound to the active site of α-glucosidase, interacting with several key residues, such as ASP68, MET69, TYR71, PHE157, PHE158, PHE177, GLN181, HIS348, ASP349, ASP406, VAL407, ASP408, ARG439, and ARG443, which was predicted by performing a protein-ligand docking simulation. Subsequently, we evaluated the inhibitory effect of pyrogallol on α-glucosidase, and found that it induced a mixed type of inhibition in a reversible and quick-binding manner. The relevant kinetic parameters were evaluated to be: IC 50 =0.72±0.051mM; K i =0.37±0.018mM. A tertiary conformational change was synchronized with pyrogallol inhibition and modulation of the shape of the active site was correspondingly observed. Our study provides insight into the functional inhibitory role of pyrogallol, which results from its triple-hydroxyl groups interacting with the active site of α-glucosidase. We suggest that compounds similar to pyrogallol (phenolic hydroxyl compounds) which target the key residues of the active site of α-glucosidase could be potential agents for α-glucosidase inhibition., (Copyright © 2018. A smart and effective anticorrosive coating consisting of alternating graphene and polyaniline (PANI) layers was developed using top-down solution processing. Graphite was exfoliated using sonication assisted by polyaniline to produce a nanostructured, conductive graphene/polyaniline hybrid (GPn) in large quantities (>0.5 L of 6 wt% solution in a single laboratory-scale process). The GPn was coated on copper and exhibited excellent anticorrosion protection efficiencies of 46.6% and 68.4% under electrochemical polarization in 1 M sulfuric acid and 3.5 wt% sodium chloride solutions, chosen as chemical and seawater models, respectively. Impedance measurements were performed in the two corrosive solutions, with the variation in charge transfer resistance (R ct ) over time indicating that the GPn acted as an efficient physical and chemical barrier preventing corrosive species from reaching the copper surface. The GPn-coated copper was composed of many PANI-coated graphene planes stacked parallel to the copper surface. PANI exhibits redox-based conductivity, which was facilitated by the high conductivity of graphene. Additionally, the GPn surface was found to be hydrophobic. These properties combined effectively to protect the copper metal against corrosion. We expect that the GPn can be further applied for developing smart anticorrosive coating layers capable of monitoring the status of metals.

Morphology of conjugated polymers is a critical factor that significantly affects intrinsic charge transport characteristics and in turn performance of polymer-based devices. Morphological defects including misaligned crystalline grains and grain boundaries significantly impede efficient charge hopping between transport sites, resulting in degradation of device performance. Therefore, one important challenge is to control morphology of active polymer thin-films for achieving high performance flexible electronic devices. In the past decade, significant progress has been achieved in morphology control of conjugated polymer thin-films using solution-based processing techniques. This review focuses on recent advances in processing strategies that can tune the morphologies and thus impact charge transport properties of conjugated polymer thin films. Of the available processing strategies, polymer solution treatments and film deposition techniques will be mainly highlighted. The correlation between processing conditions, active layer morphologies, and device performance will be also be discussed.

Multiwell plates are regularly used in analytical research and clinical diagnosis but often require laborious washing steps and large sample or reagent volumes (typically, 100 μL per well). To overcome such drawbacks in the conventional multiwell plate, we present a novel microchannel-connected multiwell plate (μCHAMP) that can be used for automated disease biomarker detection in a small sample volume by performing droplet-based magnetic bead immunoassay inside the plate. In this μCHAMP-based immunoassay platform, small volumes (30-50 μL) of aqueous-phase working droplets are stably confined within each well by the simple microchannel structure (200-300 μm in height and 0.5-1 mm in width), and magnetic beads are exclusively transported into an adjacent droplet through the oil-filled microchannels assisted by a magnet array aligned beneath and controlled by a XY-motorized stage. Using this μCHAMP-based platform, we were able to perform parallel detection of synthetic amyloid beta (Aβ) oligomers as a model analyte for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This platform easily simplified the laborious and consumptive immunoassay procedure by achieving automated parallel immunoassay (32 assays per operation in 3-well connected 96-well plate) within 1 hour and at low sample consumption (less than 10 μL per assay) with no cumbersome manual washing step. Moreover, it could detect synthetic Aβ oligomers even below 10 pg mL(-1) concentration with a calculated detection limit of ∼3 pg mL(-1). Therefore, the μCHAMP and droplet-based magnetic bead immunoassay, with the combination of XY-motorized magnet array, would be a useful platform in the diagnosis of human disease, including AD, which requires low consumption of the patient's body fluid sample and automation of the entire immunoassay procedure for high processing capacity.

The current study aimed to (a) evaluate the effectiveness of motivational interviewing, as applied by a community mental health team (CMHT) based in Singapore; (b) reduce hospital admissions and length of hospital stay; and (c) improve global functioning and satisfaction of individuals with mental illness. The current study used a quasi-experimental method. A convenience sample of 120 participants was selected from the caseload of the CMHT. Participants received motivational interviewing sessions at least once every month for 1 year. Data on the number of hospital admissions, length of hospitalization, Global Assessment of Functioning, and patient satisfaction were collected at baseline and 6 and 12 months. Participants who underwent the CMHT services with motivational interviewing were more compliant to treatment, resulting in significant reduction in hospitalization and improvement in functionality. Motivational interviewing is effective in facilitating better illness management for patients in the community. Adoption of the motivational interviewing approach may potentially provide significant benefits for psychiatric support services in the community., (Copyright 2015, SLACK Incorporated.)

This paper investigates the structure-property relationship of a new generation of poly(styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene) (SIBS) block copolymers with a branched (dendritic) polyisobutylene core with poly(isobutylene-b-para-methylstyrene) end blocks (D_IBS), and their carbon black (CB) composites. These materials display thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) properties, and are promising new biomaterials. It is shown that CB reinforced the block copolymer TPEs, effectively delayed the oxidative thermal degradation of the D_IBS materials, and greatly improved their dynamic fatigue performance. Specifically, the dynamic creep of a CB composite was comparable to that of chemically crosslinked and silica-reinforced medical grade silicone rubber, used as a benchmark biomaterial., (Copyright © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. This study examines the morphology, thermal, quasi-static and long-term dynamic creep properties of one linear and three arborescent polyisobutylene-based block copolymers (L_SIBS31, D_IBS16, D_IBS27 and D_IBS33). Silicone rubber, a common biopolymer, was considered as a benchmark material for comparison. A unique hysteretic testing methodology of Stepwise Increasing Load Test (SILT) and Single Load Test (SLT) was used in this study to evaluate the long-term dynamic fatigue performance of these materials. Our experimental findings revealed that the molecular weight of polyisobutylene (PIB) and polystyrene (PS) arms [M(n)(PIB(arm)) and M(n)(PS(arm))], respectively had a profound influence on the nano-scaled phase separation, quasi-static tensile, thermal transition, and dynamic creep resistance behaviors of these PIB-based block copolymers. However, silicone rubber outperformed the PIB-based block copolymers in terms of dynamic creep properties due to its chemically crosslinked structure. This paper is the first report of electrospinning neat polyisobutylene-based thermoplastic elastomers. Two generations of these materials are investigated: a linear poly(styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene) (L_SIBS) triblock copolymer and a dendritic poly(isobutylene-b-p-methylstyrene) (D_IB-MS), also a candidate for biomedical applications. Cross-polarized optical microscopy shows birefringence, indicating orientation in the electrospun fibers, which undergo large elongation and shear during electrospinning. In contrast to the circular cross section of L_SIBS fibers, D_IB-MS yields dumbbell-shaped fiber cross sections for the combination of processing conditions, molecular weight, and architecture. Hydrophobic surfaces with a water contact angle as high as 146 ± 3° were obtained with D_IB-MS that had the noncircular fiber cross section and a hierarchical arrangement of nano- to micrometer-sized fibers in the mat. These highly water repellent fiber mats were found to serve as an excellent scaffold for bovine chondrocytes to produce cartilage tissue.

In this study, biodegradable films were prepared by using corn starch, PVA, nano-sized poly(acrylamide-co-methyl methacrylate) (PAAm-co-MMA), nano-sized TiO2(P-25)/PAAm-co-MMA composite, and additives which are harmless to the human body, that is, glycerol (GL) and citric acid (CA). Nano-sized PAAm-co-MMA was synthesized by the method of emulsion polymerization. Also, nano-sized TiO2/PAAm-co-MMA composites were synthesized by wet milling for 48 h. The morphology and crystallinty of nano-sized PAAm-co-MMA and TiO2/PAAm-co-MMA composite was observed by the SEM and XRD. The physical properties such as tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (%E), degree of swelling (DS), and solubility (S) of biodegradable films were investigated. The photocatalytic degradability of starch/PVA/nano-sized TiO2/PAAm-co-MMA composite blended films was evaluated using methylene blue as photodegradation target.

This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of a polyisobutylene (PIB)-based nanostructured carbon-reinforced thermoplastic elastomer. This thermoplastic elastomer is based on a self-assembling block copolymer having a branched PIB core carrying -OH functional groups at each branch point, flanked by blocks of poly(isobutylene-co-para-methylstyrene). The block copolymer has thermolabile physical crosslinks and can be processed as a plastic, yet retains its rubbery properties at room temperature. The carbon-reinforced thermoplastic elastomer had more than twice the tensile strength of the neat polymer, exceeding the strength of medical grade silicone rubber, while remaining significantly softer. The carbon-reinforced thermoplastic elastomer displayed a high T(g) of 126 degrees C, rendering the material steam-sterilizable. The carbon also acted as a free radical trap, increasing the onset temperature of thermal decomposition in the neat polymer from 256.6 degrees C to 327.7 degrees C. The carbon-reinforced thermoplastic elastomer had the lowest water contact angle at 82 degrees and surface nano-topography. After 180 days of implantation into rabbit soft tissues, the carbon-reinforced thermoplastic elastomer had the thinnest tissue capsule around the microdumbbell specimens, with no eosinophiles present. POSS-functionalized polyisobutylenes (PIBs) were synthesized by carbocationic polymerization using an epoxy-POSS/TiCl(4) initiating system in hexane/methyl chloride (60:40 v/v) solvent mixture at -80 °C. The tomato I-3 gene introgressed from the Lycopersicon pennellii accession LA716 confers resistance to race 3 of the fusarium wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici. We have improved the high-resolution map of the I-3 region of tomato chromosome 7 with the development and mapping of 31 new PCR-based markers. Recombinants recovered from L. esculentum cv. M82 x IL7-2 F2 and (IL7-2 x IL7-4) x M82 TC1F2 mapping populations, together with recombinants recovered from a previous M82 x IL7-3 F2 mapping population, were used to position these markers. A significantly higher recombination frequency was observed in the (IL7-2 x IL7-4) x M82 TC1F2 mapping population based on a reconstituted L. pennellii chromosome 7 compared to the other two mapping populations based on smaller segments of L. pennellii chromosome 7. A BAC contig consisting of L. esculentum cv. Heinz 1706 BACs covering the I-3 region has also been established. The new high-resolution map places the I-3 gene within a 0.38 cM interval between the molecular markers RGA332 and bP23/gPT with an estimated physical size of 50-60 kb. The I-3 region was found to display almost continuous microsynteny with grape chromosome 12 but interspersed microsynteny with Arabidopsis thaliana chromosomes 1, 2 and 3. An S-receptor-like kinase gene family present in the I-3 region of tomato chromosome 7 was found to be present in the microsyntenous region of grape chromosome 12 but was absent altogether from the A. thaliana genome.

Cyclic-pulsed plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) for the formation of antimony (Sb) thin films was investigated using Sb(i-C3H7)3 and H2 plasma at temperatures of 200-275 degrees C. The effects of deposition temperature on the film properties, such as resistivity, surface roughness, and crystallinity were examined. The film growth rate (thickness/cycle) was found to be in the range of 0.10-0.5 nm/cycle. High substrate temperatures tended to promote low resistivity, high purity, and smooth surface morphology of the films, compared to low substrate temperatures. All of the deposited films were polycrystalline, with higher deposition temperatures yielding a higher crystallinity in the Sb films.

In-situ carbon-doped-TiO2 nano-powder was prepared by an AFD (aerosol flame deposition) technique using ethanol and isopropanol, and the photocatalytic activity of the prepared powder was examined. There were no significant effect of the solvents on the phase of the prepared TiO2, but the level of carbon in the deposits prepared with ethanol was lower than that prepared with isopropanol. Also, the average sizes of the particles prepared with ethanol were slightly smaller than that formed with isopropanol. All the samples showed excellent photocatalytic activity in the decomposing of methylene blue (MB). We even observed photocatalytic activity of the powder under visible light irradiation, although the decomposition rate of MB under this irradiation was slightly slower than under UV-A light irradiation.

[reaction: see text] Rate constants and product selectivities (S = ([ester product]/[acid product]) x ([water]/[alcohol solvent]) are reported for solvolyses of chloroacetyl chloride (3) at -10 degrees C and phenylacetyl chloride (4) at 0 degrees C in ethanol/ and methanol/water mixtures. Additional kinetic data are reported for solvolyses in acetone/water, 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol(TFE)/water, and TFE/ethanol mixtures. Selectivities and solvent effects for 3, including the kinetic solvent isotope effect (KSIE) of 2.18 for methanol, are similar to those for solvolyses of p-nitrobenzoyl chloride (1, Z = NO(2)); rate constants in acetone/water are consistent with a third-order mechanism, and rates and products in ethanol/ and methanol/water mixtures can be explained quantitatively by competing third-order mechanisms in which one molecule of solvent (alcohol or water) acts as a nucleophile and another acts as a general base (an addition/elimination reaction channel). Selectivities increase for 3 as water is added to alcohol. Solvent effects on rate constants for solvolyses of 3 are very similar to those of methyl chloroformate, but acetyl chloride shows a lower KSIE, and a higher sensitivity to solvent-ionizing power, explained by a change to an S(N)2/S(N)1 (ionization) reaction channel. Solvolyses of 4 undergo a change from the addition/elimination channel in ethanol to the ionization channel in aqueous ethanol (<80% v/v alcohol). The reasons for change in reaction channels are discussed in terms of the gas-phase stabilities of acylium ions, calculated using Gaussian 03 (HF/6-31G(d), B3LYP/6-31G(d), and B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) MO theory).

Various cryoprotectants were tested to reconstitute the surfactant-free nanoparticles of poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA). When 2.0% (w/v) of sucrose, trehalose and lactose were used, nanoparticles were completely reconstituted into aqueous solution and particle size was not significantly changed. Above 1.0% (w/v) of sucrose, trehalose and lactose, nanoparticles are well reconstituted whereas it was precipitated with 1.0% (w/v) of mannitol. Drug-encapsulated surfactant-free nanoparticles were quite reconstituted when 2.0% (w/v) of sucrose, trehalose and lactose. Drug release kinetics of nanoparticles was not significantly changed by cryoprotectants.

The authors describe hypersexuality following atypical right pallidotomy for intractable Parkinson's Disease (PD). This patient and literature review suggest important roles for the pallidum in sexual behavior and dopamine in sexual arousal.

Objective: To evaluate the sense of "humanness" in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) patients with right hemispheric involvement., Background: Early in the course, FTD is often asymmetric, and those with predominant right frontotemporal disease have disproportionate disturbances in social behavior and empathy. A disruption in a sense of humanness may underlie these behavioral disturbances., Method: Sixteen patients with asymmetric FTD on functional neuroimaging underwent recognition tests of facial masking, human-animal morphing, and facial distortion. Additional tests evaluated facial discrimination and the recognition of famous faces, facial emotions, and animate-inanimate differences., Results: On the distorted and morphed face tasks, 8 FTD patients with predominant right hemisphere involvement were significantly more likely to call morphed and distorted faces "human" as compared with both 8 FTD patients with predominant left hemisphere involvement and normal controls. The FTD groups did not differ on thresholds for recognizing masked faces or on other face recognition measures., Conclusions: In FTD, right hemispheric involvement may alter the threshold for judging someone as human independent of the recognition of faces or facial affect. These results suggest that a specific sense of humanness facilitates a person recognition network in the right frontotemporal region of the brain.

We report on a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, who, during the course of the illness, developed thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. In this case, the coexistence of these two conditions was confirmed by laboratory and pathologic findings. The infusion of fresh frozen plasma with plasmapheresis reversed the course of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.

A case is reported of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the gingiva. The 65-year-old female presented with a fast-growing mass originating from the left lower gingiva. The tumor measured 15 cm in diameter, occupying the entire oral cavity, protruding outside, and causing a mechanical airway obstruction. It appeared to respond to a 1000 rad single dose of preoperative radiation but recurred soon after composite resection with mandibulectomy, even though surgical margins were reportedly free from microscopic invasion. The patient expired from massive lung metastasis in spite of appreciable local response from treatment. This supports the thesis that MFH is a malignant disease and behaves like any soft-tissue sarcoma, which must be treated aggressively by a combined modality of surgery, radiation, and perhaps chemotherapy.
