The Cloud-based Liquid Pipeline Simulator(CloudLPS) is a universal liquid pipeline simulation software with completely independent intellectual property rights in China. Herein, its applications are introduced. Its operation processes from pipeline network modeling and simulation calculation to result viewing are elaborated based on a specific case. Then, calculations are performed with CloudLPS for various operating conditions, including steady-state transportation, transient water hammer, and alternating transportation of cold and hot oil, after which the results are compared with those obtained from the foreign commercial software SPS and TLNET, making the discovery that the CloudLPS has comparable accuracy in terms of hydrodynamic and thermal simulations. Subsequently, CloudLPS is applied to solve practical pipeline problems such as normal-temperature transportation, heated transportation, and alternating transportation of cold and hot oil. By comparing the results of these practical applications with the field data, it is proven that the CloudLPS can meet the requirements of the actual engineering calculations. Finally, the two special features of CloudLPS, including visual control logic construction and energy consumption optimization, are presented. The results of this paper indicate that CloudLPS is of great competence in hydrodynamic and thermal simulations, logic control, and energy consumption optimization.

BACKGROUND: Phenolic endocrine‐disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are widespread and easily ingested through the food chain. They pose a serious threat to human health. Magnetic solid‐phase extraction (MSPE) is an effective sample pre‐treatment technology to determine traces of phenolic EDCs. RESULTS: Magnetic covalent organic framework (COF) (Fe3O4@COF) nanospheres were prepared and characterized. The efficient and selective extraction of phenolic EDCs relies on a large specific surface and the inherent porosity of COFs and hydrogen bonding, π–π, and hydrophobic interactions between COF shells and phenolic EDCs. Under optimal conditions, the proposed magnetic solid‐phase extraction‐high‐performance liquid chromatography–ultra violet (MSPE‐HPLC‐UV) based on the metallic covalent organic framework method for phenolic EDCs shows good linearities (0.002–6 μg mL−1), with R2 of 0.995 or higher, and low limits of detection (6–1.200 ng mL−1). CONCLUSION: Magnetic covalent organic frameworks (Fe3O4@COFs) with good MSPE performance for phenolic EDCs were synthesized by the solvothermal method. The magnetic covalent organic framework‐based MSPE‐HPLC‐UV method was applied successfully to determine phenolic EDCs in beverage and water samples with satisfactory recoveries (90.200%–123%) and relative standard deviations (2.100%–12.100%). © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry. Using first-principles calculations, we predict a new type of two-dimensional (2D) beryllium(Be)-decorated T-graphene named BeC2, where Be atoms are inserted into C–C bonds linking the carbon tetrarings of T-graphene. The band structure shows that BeC2 is metallic, thus, the possible phonon-mediated superconductivity is explored based on the Eliashberg equation. The calculated electron-phonon coupling (EPC) constant λ is up to 4.07, and the corresponding superconducting critical temperature (Tc) is 72.1 K, approaching the liquid nitrogen temperature. The reason for the high Tc is the strong EPC. And it is proved to be an anisotropic single-gap superconductor by analyzing the superconducting gap Δk of BeC2. The electronic susceptibility calculation shows strong nesting effect in BeC2. Since rare 2D superconductors show such a strong EPC constant λ which originates from the coupling between electrons in C–pz orbital and in-plane vibrations of Be and C atoms, the predicted BeC2 provides a new platform for investigating strong EPC 2D superconductor. A new Zn(II) metal–organic framework (MOF) with the formula [Zn(BBIP)(2,6-NDC)]n (JXUST-44, BBIP = 3,5-bis(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)pyridine and 2,6-H2NDC = 2,6-naphthalic acid) was synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The adjacent Zn(II) ions are connected by BBIP ligands to form one-dimensional (1D) chains, which are further linked by carboxylate groups of 2,6-NDC2− ligands to obtain a two-dimensional layer structure, resulting in a 2D → 3D polycatenated MOF. JXUST-44 can be simplified as a 4-connected sql topology and shows good chemical stability in a wide pH range from 2 to 12 at room temperature. The fluorescence experiments indicate that JXUST-44 presents sensitive and selective detection of salicylaldehyde (SA), acetylacetone (acac) and H2PO4− with the detection limits of 0.074, 10.311 and 0.011 ppm, respectively. It is worth noting that JXUST-44 shows turn-on fluorescence toward acac and H2PO4−, as well as good recyclability and stability for acac, SA and H2PO4−. Therefore, JXUST-44 can be considered as a good fluorescent sensor for acac, SA and H2PO4−. The sensing mechanism has also been studied in detail. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Studying a centi-parsec supermassive black hole binary (SMBHB) would allow us to explore a new parameter space in active galactic nuclei, and these objects are also potential sources of gravitational waves. We report evidence that an SMBHB with an orbital period of ∼30 yr may be resident in the nearby galactic nucleus M81. This orbital period and the known mass of M81 imply an orbital separation of ∼0.02 pc. The jet emanating from the primary black hole showed a short period of jet wobbling at ∼16.7 yr, superposing a long-term precession at a timescale of several hundred years. Periodic radio and X-ray outbursts were also found two times per orbital period, which could be explained by a double-peaked mass accretion rate variation per binary orbit. If confirmed, M81 would be one of the closest SMBHB candidates, providing a rare opportunity to study the final parsec problem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Alzheimer's disease (AD) presents a significant challenge to global healthcare systems, with current treatments offering only modest relief and often bringing unwanted side effects, necessitating the exploration of more effective and safer drugs. In this study, we employed the Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) model, specifically the AD-like CL4176 strain expressing the human Aβ(1–42) protein, to investigate the potential of Reineckia carnea extract and its fractions. Our results showed that the Reineckia carnea ether fraction (REF) notably diminished the paralysis rates of CL4176 worms. Additionally, REF also attenuated the neurotoxicity effects prompted by Tau proteins in the BR5270 worms. Moreover, REF was observed to counteract the accumulation of Aβ and pTau proteins and their induced oxidative stress in C. elegans AD-like models. Mechanistic studies revealed that REF's benefits were associated with the induction of autophagy in worms; however, these protective effects were nullified when autophagy-related genes were suppressed using RNAi bacteria. Together, these findings highlight Reineckia carnea ether fraction as a promising candidate for AD treatment, warranting further investigation into its autophagy-inducing components and their molecular mechanisms. The discovery of highly crystalline two-dimensional (2D) superconductors provides a new alluring branch for exploring the fundamental significances. Based on first-principles calculations, we predict a new kind of 2D stable material W2C3, which is a semimetal but not a superconductor because of the weak electron–phonon coupling (EPC) strength. After hydrogenation, W2C3H2 possesses the intrinsic metallic properties with a large density of states (DOS) at the Fermi energy (EF). More interestingly, the EPC strength is greatly enhanced after hydrogenation and the calculated critical temperature (Tc) is 40.5 K. Furthermore, the compressive strain can obviously soften the low-frequency phonons and enhance the EPC strength. Then, the Tc of W2C3H2 can be increased from 40.5 K to 49.1 K with −4% compressive strain. This work paves the way for providing a new platform for 2D superconductivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
