This article reports on a study to know attitudes toward mental hospitals. Six groups of subjects were selected which seemed to have varying degrees of familiarity with a mental hospital setting. Group I, 22 employees kept on the intensive treatment service of the Norfolk State hospital. These employees had been exposed to an intensive training program attempting to familiarize them with personality theory, psychopathology and therapeutic attitudes toward patients on the part of a psychiatric aide. They work under the close supervision of psychiatric nurses and psychiatrists.

The article states that thirty one outpatients seen in a university clinic were given a complete battery of psychological tests, including the MMPI, and an interview. After evaluating all he material, with the exception of the MMPI, the psychologist was asked to fill out a copy of T.F. Leary's Interpersonal Adjective Check List on the patient in terms of how he is likely to be perceived by people in general. This study has tended to validate Leary's system of predicting "Public" behavior from MMPI formulae in part, in that Affection and Hostility are apparently predictable validly from the MMPI as judged by the criterion herein employed.

The article presents a study which was designed to replicate researcher B.F. Shepler's correlation of MMPI and Strong VIB (female) MF scores. MMPI MF scores and Strong VIB (Female) MF scores were correlated in two groups of 98 and 41 women from two college counseling centers. Pearson correlations of .48 and .41 for the two groups support the assumption that higher MMPI MF raw scores and higher Strong VIB standard scores indicate greater femininity of interests.
