The synthesis of metallic nanoparticles has ignited intense interest over the last decade due to their unique properties, which make them applicable in a variety of fields of science and technology. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe2O3 NPs) were synthesized, characterized, and their antibacterial activity was determined using a low-cost and simple method. Method: In this paper, magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized by a physical method of pulsed laser ablation in a liquid medium with 600 mJ energy. Magnetic Fe2O3 NPs were prepared by using a 1064 nm Nd-YAG laser and bombarding the α -Fe2O3 target in a deionized aqueous solution. An absorption spectrometer was used to study the optical properties and structures of nanoparticles, the prepared nanoparticles were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Besides, utilizing FESEM, the morphological and surface characteristics were examined. The antibacterial activity of Fe2O3 NPs against several pathogenic Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria isolated from various human infection sites was investigated using a disk diffusion experiment with laser pulse lengths of (100 nm, 150 nm, 200 nm and 300 nm) with the same laser energy. Result: The results showed the success of this method as the first sign that can be inferred from the change in the color of the solution to prepare nanoparticles. Fe2O3 NPs are mostly spherical in shape, with nano sizes ranging between 66.7 nm and 9.5 nm. The energy gap was found to be in the range of 1.79–2.39 eV for almost all nanoparticles prepared. Fe2O3 NPs were formed in almost spherical surface morphology with regular size and shape. The results showed their effect on stopping the growth of bacteria of type E. coli maximum zone of inhibition of 20 mm and 19 mm of S. epidermidis, 18 mm of type S. mutans and 16 mm of P. aeruginosa. As a result, in this study, it was shown that Fe2O3 NPs produced in water by laser ablation method can be used as antibacterial agents due to these properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, the biological and physical properties of colloidal platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) and cobalt nanoparticles (CoNPs) were examined for antibacterial applications. The colloidal PtNPs and CoNPs were produced using two different liquids (double-distilled water (DDW) and Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM)) by laser ablation technique (PLAL). Characterization techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV–Vis spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) were used to determine some physical properties of PtNPs and CoNPs. The antibacterial effects of colloidal PtNPs and CoNPs at different doses on various bacteria were investigated and their antibacterial activity resistances were calculated by measuring the inhibition zone widths. The effect of the liquid used in the production, the type of bacteria and dose amounts on the antibacterial resistance of these nanoparticles (NPs) were determined. In this study, it has been shown that the liquid used in the production of PtNPs and CoNPs can create significant changes in the physical and antibacterial properties of NP, especially by changing the size and concentration of colloidal PtNPs. The structural, morphology, and optical properties of a new hybrid structure prepared from CuO nanoparticles embedded in a Fe2O3–PVA composite matrix were investigated in this work. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), absorption and transmission spectra, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were all used to analyze the prepared materials. Crystallography information revealed the presence of CuO that did not affect the crystal structure of PVA–Fe2O3. The prepared composites revealed strong absorption in the range of 440–570 nm. It was observed that the highest absorption of these composites gradually shifted to the shorter wavelength region with the presence of CuO. PVA–Fe2O3 is highly transparent, with a transmittance of around 85% in the range of 600–800 nm. After the addition of 5% by weight of CuO nanoparticles, the transmittance of the nanocomposite drops to 75% in the same range of wavelength. The prepared materials were used as anti-cancer cells, and they showed high efficacy to kill tumor cells, especially PVA–Fe2O3–CuO at concentration 0.5 μ g/mL. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new nano-hybrid material prepared by physical mixing of the components was used in biomedical applications where three samples of the prepared materials were used to determine the best composition as an antibacterial and anticancer agent in addition to its use as an antifungal agent. In the case of antimicrobials, two types of bacteria were used: Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and one type of fungus was used: Candida albicans. The area of inhibition was calculated after using the hybrid material of 2.5% titanium oxide with iron oxide, which gave better results than pure iron oxide and that mixed with 5% titanium dioxide. Background: This study evaluated the anticancer effects of gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) generated by reducing hydrated gold metal ions in the presence of aqueous pomegranate peel extract. Aim of study: To test the possibility that Au-NPs generated from the pomegranate aqueous extract could be employed as an anti-cancer therapy. Materials and methods: The study aimed to evaluate Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using a laser at a wavelength of 532 nm with green gold particles as a photosensitizer in in-vivo experiment. Gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) were produced by reducing hydrated gold metal ions in the presence of aqueous pomegranate peel extract. Using UV-visible spectroscopy, the absorption peak of the gold particles was found near 550-592 nm. All diffraction peaks for 20 at = 37.8227° at 43.7014°, 63.8103° and 77.1540° correspond to the (111), (200), (220), and (311) levels, respectively by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, imaging confirmed Au-NP by Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the nanoparticle size ranged between 19.96 ± 0.784 nm. Forty Mature Swiss females weighing 20-25 g and aged 6-8 weeks were used, the animals were placed in well-ventilated rooms. Results: The best exposure time to eradicate the tumor is with a duration of exposure of 30 minutes using the diode laser, as histological investigations indicated the development of anti-immunity with the same exposure period. Lasers have been used in a variety of industries, but we will concentrate on their use in medicine, specifically dermatology. I concentrated on three types of lasers in this article (ablation, non-ablative lasers, and fractional lasers). The non-ablative laser causes skin contraction as a result of wound stimulation of collagen during the healing phase in the dermis, upper dermis, and thermal ablation. Laser ablation is more dangerous because it heats up the dermis. A fractional laser affects the inner dermis layer, which contains collagen, rather than the epidermis, which stimulates this vital component. An ablative fractional laser, on the other hand, peels off the skin's outer layer. According to research, these three lasers produce unfavorable outcomes. Therefore, PBM technology was used without thermal interactions and effects on the skin, increasing patient satisfaction with rejuvenation.
