The rapid development of digital printing and the popularity of corrugated packaging production encourages manufacturers to improve product quality. Therefore, research into the quality of digital prints, using modern procedures for determining the qualimetric indicators, is important for both consumers and manufacturers. We have studied the prints made by the inkjet printing machine Durst Rho 1312. The printing involved the inks CMYK+Light Cyan+Light Magenta (Austria)+Light Cyan+Light Magenta. The prints were obtained directly on five-layer corrugated cardboard using the post-print technology. In addition, the printing was performed on a liner, followed by its pinning to fluting (the preprint technology). The paper describes a procedure for determining the qualimetric prints’ indicators, in particular, optical density, the increase in the tonality of the raster image, color reproduction, resolution, print stability on prints, and in the printing process, and lightfastness. The imprints’ quality was evaluated in accordance with the requirements set by the standard ISO/TS15311-2:2018. The quality of digital and offset prints has been compared. It has been established that the digital post-print technology on the five-layer corrugated cardboard BE and the pre-print technology on the cardboard GD180 ensure the same print quality parameters. This includes such a quality indicator as the reproduction of raster image tones, optical density, color difference, printing stability. The print resolution of the imprints has slight deviations. It was found that the color transfer of offset prints is higher (by 10 %) than that of the digital prints based on the pre-print technology. Offset printing also provides higher resolution (by 93 lines/cm) than digital printing. However, in terms of print stability and color difference, the inkjet prints are inferior to the offset technology. In this study was analyzed the physicalmechanical properties and characteristics of different type of threads (polyamide, cotton) for blocks sewing. Investigated the brochure block binding with reduced threads surface friction coefficient, physicalmechanical parameters analysis. An important step in calculating the strength of threads for book sections and book blocks sewing is the choice of the strength criterion. For this purpose, are analyzed the influence of the structure of cotton and polyamide threads antifriction. Here was made the book binding process optimization with different types of the thread. Abstract: The objective of the presented research was to determine the influence of cellulose coating, obtained from the cellulose solution in N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO), on the structural and mechanical properties of paper. The effect of heating time of paper samples coated with cellulose dissolved in NMMO was also investigated. Depending on the heating time of the coating, a continuous or porous layer was obtained. Coating without any heating stage yielded a continuous cellulose layer of hydrophobic properties (higher contact angle in comparison to base paper), and paper of higher smoothness and increased tear resistance. Analysis of the paper samples showed that cellulose coating not only changed the surface properties of paper, but also significantly improved paper strength properties, such as the tensile index, elongation, bursting strength index and double folds number. It was investigated the influence of mechanical factors on the restructuring of micro-corrugated cardboard based on physical models. We considered typical cases of stress-strain state of micro corrugated cardboard during laminating, particularly when micro-corrugated cardboard, as a resilient layer of a certain thickness, compressed by efforts of two rigid cylinder of the same radius. Deformation of micro corrugated cardboard associated with the change of bandwidth of adhesive layer. It was established that when the corrugated wave has a initial sinusoidal shape, the contact bandwidth increases with contact pressure increasing and, consequently, the surface deflection, due to bending deformation of wave corrugated form and limited to loss of elastic properties at extreme deflection. Elastic deformation (compression) of trapezoidal wave corrugated form does not changing the width of the contact zone, as connected only with the phenomenon of its side faces loss stability. It was established that the ratio of radiuses and maximum of wave corrugated deflection are major factors that influence on the deformation of micro-corrugated cardboard during lamination in longitudinal and transverse direction. • Novel method of measuring the uniformity of liquid penetration through fibrous porous materials was proposed. • Texture entropy and contrast were taken into account in the proposed method. • Correlations between the dynamics of liquid penetration and the examined texture parameters were found. • New parameters were introduced for better evaluation of the nature of the liquid flow through the porous material structure. The interaction of liquids with materials is an important factor influencing many technological processes and describing the quality of the material itself. However, characterization of the wetting and penetration of liquids phenomena through the materials of heterogeneous structure is a very difficult task. Paper is an example of such material. Paper sizing is one of the most important operations in paper technology. Its purpose is to reduce the wettability of the paper. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the suitability of the texture analysis to assess the uniformity of liquid penetration through the paper structure in terms of the degree of the paper sizing. As a result of the research, a new method of measuring was proposed based on dynamic changes in their texture parameters. For this purpose, such texture parameters as entropy and contrast were used. Characteristic points were determined on the curves of the dynamic changes of both parameters. It was proved that there is a correlation between the dynamics of liquid penetration through the paper structure and the examined texture parameters. It was found that the maximum value of entropy and contrast, the time of reaching both values, the points of inflection of the curves during their decrease, and the times by which these points were reached can be useful parameters that provide information about the nature of the liquid flow through the porous material structure.
