The aim of this work is to present the corrosion damage mechanism of austenitic stainless steel 304. The C-ring specimens are chosen according to ASTM G-38 to resemble the stress conditions during the applied load. The specimens are immersed in 3.5% wt of NaCl solution. The variable conditions were studied at a fixed stress of 379Mpa and immersions for 720 hours. The stress distribution over the surface of specimens is formulated by means of a finite-element analysis. The result of the finite-element analysis shows that the region that was perpendicular to the shift in the direction of the pressure was subjected to the highest load. Using the potentiodynamic polarisation measurement method and microscopic observation, the corrosion polarisation behaviour of austenitic stainless steel became more active in cases when immersion and stress are applied simultaneously. The stress on the surface of the specimen shows a significant effect on the polarisation mechanism in the analysed area. The result also shows that the locations of pitting corrosion are apparent on the highest stress area. There is useful information to analyse the corrosion behaviour especially for applications under mechanical loading in corrosive environments, it drives the corrosion behaviour to the critical condition. A kinetic study of Hg(II) ions transport through a bulk liquid membrane (BLM) was investigated. The commercially available liquid bis(2,4,4-trimethyl(pentyl) dithiophosphinic acid) (Cyanex 301) was employed as mobile carrier. The influences of the carrier concentration in the liquid membrane, HNO3 concentration in the feed phase, type of organic solvent, composition of the receiving phase, and stirring speed on mass transfer were studied. Various solvents including CH2Cl2, CHCl3, C2H4Cl2 and CCl4 were used as organic membrane. Among the solvents, CHCl3 provided the superior results. The kinetic parameters ( k1, k2, Rmmax, tmax, Jdmax, and Jamax) were calculated for the interface reaction assuming two consecutive, irreversible first-order reactions. The analysis of Hg(II) accumulation in liquid membrane and the rate-controlling step under different experimental conditions were elucidated. The experiments demonstrated that Cyanex 301 is an appropriate carrier for Hg(II) transport through liquid membrane. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, there has been growing interest in developing innovative materials and therapeutic strategies to enhance wound healing outcomes, especially for chronic wounds and antimicrobial resistance. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) represent a promising class of materials for next-generation wound healing and dressings. Their high surface area, pore structures, stimuli-responsiveness, antibacterial properties, biocompatibility, and potential for combination therapies make them suitable for complex wound care challenges. MOF-based composites promote cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and matrix synthesis, acting as carriers for bioactive molecules and promoting tissue regeneration. They also have stimuli-responsivity, enabling photothermal therapies for skin cancer and infections. Herein, a critical analysis of the current state of research on MOFs and MOF-based composites for wound healing and dressings is provided, offering valuable insights into the potential applications, challenges, and future directions in this field. This literature review has targeted the multifunctionality nature of MOFs in wound-disease therapy and healing from different aspects and discussed the most recent advancements made in the field. In this context, the potential reader will find how the MOFs contributed to this field to yield more effective, functional, and innovative dressings and how they lead to the next generation of biomaterials for skin therapy and regeneration., (© 2024 The Authors. In this article, a valuable approach utilizing the relationship between select physical water and soil characteristics and geoelectrical resistivity data was used to recognize and trace groundwater contamination by using the geoelectrical resistivity data of a landfill area. It can reduce uncertainty in geoelectrical resistivity interpretation. By interpreting and calibrating the resistivity model with the lithology and physical characters of water samples, it was possible to identify the unique paths of landfill leachate that occurred throughout a shallow aquifer. The water physical property analysis showed that the landfill area was contaminated by a relatively high amount of total of dissolved solids (TDSs). A scatter plot of TDS values and directly measured resistivity showed that resistivity decreased with increasing TDSs. The movement direction of the landfill leachate in the aquifer system was clearly observed in a depth slice of the resistivity distribution. The aquifer is considered to be contaminated starting from the landfill zone and extending to the northeastern part of the study area.
