Purpose: To introduce a modified Hughes procedure for the repair of large full-thickness defects of the lower eyelid. Methods: This retrospective study included 56 patients: 30 in the conventional group treated with a Hughes flap and 26 in the modified group treated with a full-thickness upper eyelid flap pedicled with levator aponeurosis, Muller muscle and conjunctiva. The reconstruction time, period of pedicle division and complication rates were evaluated. Results: The lower eyelid reconstruction time was 89.2±7.7 minutes in the conventional group and 61.7±7.5 minutes in the modified group, whereas the period of pedicle division was 21.1±3.0 days in the conventional group and 10.8±3.0 days in the modified group, and the differences were statistically significant (p = 0.000 and 0.000). Lower eyelid retraction was 0.4±0.4 mm in the conventional group and 0.1±0.2 mm in the modified group, and the difference was statistically significant (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The modified Hughes procedure in this study resulted in a shorter lower eyelid reconstruction time, a shorter period of pedicle division, and a lower degree of lower eyelid retraction. This technique is simple and convenient for reconstructing large full-thickness defects of the lower eyelid.

Abstract Studies have shown that the cachexia index (CXI) is a useful predictor of cachexia in patients with colorectal cancer. However, the application of the CXI is limited stemming from the intricacy and additional cost of radiographic examinations. This study aimed to develop an easy-to-use and practical CXI based on fat-free mass index (FFMI-CXI) to evaluate the prognostic value of FFMI-CXI in CRC. A total of 656 patients with CRC were enrolled in the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) study. The FFMI-CXI was calculated as [FFMI (kg)/height (m)2 × serum albumin (g/L)]/neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio. The cutoff value for FFMI-CXI was determined through the analysis of ROC curves and Youden’s index for both male and female cohorts. Kaplan–Meier survival curves with log-rank tests were conducted to compare time–event relationships between different groups. Cox proportional hazards regression models incorporating both univariate and multivariate variables were employed to explore the independent prognostic factors associated with OS. Logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the association of the FFMI-CXI with secondary outcomes. The major outcome was 5-year overall survival (OS). Based on the cutoff values, 331 patients had low FFMI-CXI, and 325 patients had high FFMI-CXI. Patients in the low FFMI-CXI subgroup were significantly older and had advanced TNM stage, malnutrition, high systemic inflammation, long hospitalizations, high hospitalization costs, adverse short-term outcomes, and all-cause mortality. Abstract As the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards mobile Internet while decreasing traditional, non-mobile Internet usage, understanding the implications of this trend on individuals’ subjective well-being has become particularly crucial. While the distinction in connectivity is evident, the specific ways in which each modality influences subjective well-being are not well documented. This study, grounded in the uses and gratifications theory, asserts that while both Internet types fulfil some similar gratifications, their unique gratifications lead to varying impacts on subjective well-being in normal and socially disruptive times. Utilising a representative longitudinal dataset from China comprising 46,803 observations from 15,601 individuals, our findings indicate that traditional Internet generally exerts a more positive influence on subjective well-being than mobile Internet. However, the role of mobile Internet has become significantly more pronounced during the COVID-19 pandemic. We further reveal the substitution effect between mobile and non-mobile Internet, which diminished during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study offers novel insights into the comparative effects of mobile and traditional Internet on subjective well-being, especially during social disturbances. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of technology’s role in enhancing subjective well-being, as well as in mitigating the impacts of crises.

Abstract Liver metastasis remains the primary cause of mortality in patients with colon cancer. Identifying specific driver gene mutations that contribute to metastasis may offer viable therapeutic targets. To explore clonal evolution and genetic heterogeneity within the metastasis, we conducted single-cell exome sequencing on 150 single cells isolated from the primary tumor, liver metastasis, and lymphatic metastasis from a stage IV colon cancer patient. The genetic landscape of the tumor samples revealed that both lymphatic and liver metastases originated from the same region of the primary tumor. Notably, the liver metastasis was derived directly from the primary tumor, bypassing the lymph nodes. Comparative analysis of the sequencing data for individual cell pairs within different tumors demonstrated that the genetic heterogeneity of both liver and lymphatic metastases was also greater than that of the primary tumor. This finding indicates that liver and lymphatic metastases arose from clusters of circulating tumor cell (CTC) of a polyclonal origin, rather than from a single cell from the primary tumor. Single-cell transcriptome analysis suggested that higher EMT score and CNV scores were associated with more polyclonal metastasis. Additionally, a mutation in the TRPS1 (Transcriptional repressor GATA binding 1) gene, TRPS1 R544Q, was enriched in the single cells from the liver metastasis. The mutation significantly increased CRC invasion and migration both in vitro and in vivo through the TRPS1R544Q/ZEB1 axis. Further TRPS1 mutations were detected in additional colon cancer cases, correlating with advanced-stage disease and inferior prognosis. These results reveal polyclonal seeding and TRPS1 mutation as potential mechanisms driving the development of liver metastases in colon cancer.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical features, radiographic features, treatment strategies, pathological features, and prognosis of orbital cholesterol granuloma (CG). Methods: Twelve patients with orbital CG who were referred to Tianjin Eye Hospital between January 2002 and December 2020 were included in this retrospective case series study. Data collected including patient ophthalmic manifestations, imaging findings, treatment strategies, pathological features, and prognosis were retrospectively reviewed. Results: The patients comprised 10 males and 2 females. The mean age was 34.5 years (standard deviation [SD] = 8.9, median: 36 and range: 16–45 years). Four patients had a history of orbital trauma. The clinical manifestations at the first visit were proptosis (7/12, 58.3%), periorbital or eyelid swelling (6/12, 50%), limitation of eye movement (4/12, 33.3%), ptosis (2/12, 16.7%), and decreased visual acuity (1/12, 8.3%). Computed tomography (CT) showed a nonenhancing, well-circumscribed lesion in the orbit with extensive erosion of the adjacent frontal bone and temporal bone. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a nonenhancing mass with intermediate-to-high signal intensity on T1- and T2-weighted images. Ten patients underwent lateral orbitotomy, and two patients underwent supraorbital orbitotomy. All patients had aggressive bone erosion. Histopathologic evaluation of the cyst contents and wall revealed cholesterol clefts, multinucleated giant cells, histiocytes, foamy macrophages, and altered blood pigments. The mean follow-up time of 79.6 months (SD = 49.8, range: 19–193 months). Three patients were lost to follow-up. No postoperative diminution of vision was noted, and no recurrence was observed. Conclusions: CGs can present as superotemporal or temporal orbital lesions. The diagnosis can be established based on CT and MRI. Most of the patients can have no history of orbital trauma.

Abstract Purpose This study aimed to assess the prevalence of and factors associated with needle stick and sharps injuries (NSSIs) among health-care workers (HCWs) in a tertiary hospital in China. Materials and methods This retrospective survey was conducted with 562 HCWs at a tertiary hospital in China in July 2023. Information was collected using a self-designed questionnaire, and all enrolled members were required to fill in the demographic characteristics, occurrence of NSSIs and other associated factors in the past year. Logistic analysis was used to identify variables associated with NSSIs. Results The proportion of participants with at least one injury within the year preceding the investigation was 21.2%. Male (AOR = 2.116 [1.265, 3.538]), working hours per week > 40 (AOR = 1.718 [1.056,2.796]), rarely checking blood-borne infections before invasive operations (AOR = 2.219 [1.303,3.782]) were significantly associated with NSSIs. Conclusion The prevalence of NSSIs was not low in the survey area, especially in male, individuals with longer working hours, and rarely checking blood-borne infections before invasive operations. Therefore, it is necessary to promote educational programs to enhance awareness of standard prevention measures, especially for key populations, and reduce heavy workloads to decrease the occurrence of such injuries.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of bilateral superselective adrenal arterial embolization (SAAE) in patients with bilateral idiopathic hyperaldosteronism (IHA), a subtype of PA. Methods Ninety-eight patients with bilateral IHA underwent bilateral SAAE between August 2022 and August 2023. Sixty-eight patients were followed up for up to 12 months. Abstract Background Aging is an inevitable biological process. Accelerated aging renders adults more susceptible to chronic diseases and increases their mortality rates. Previous studies have reported the relationship between lifestyle factors and phenotypic aging. However, the relationship between intrinsic factors, such as reproductive factors, and phenotypic aging remains unclear. Methods This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), spanning from 1999 to 2010 and 2015–2018, with 14,736 adult women. Random forest imputation was used to handle missing covariate values in the final cohort. Weighted linear regression was utilized to analyze the relationship between women-specific reproductive factors and PhenoAgeAccel. Considering the potential impact of menopausal status on the results, additional analyses were conducted on premenopausal and postmenopausal participants. Additionally, the Life’s Essential 8 (LE8) was used to investigate the impact of healthy lifestyle and other factors on the relationship between women-specific reproductive factors and PhenoAgeAccel. Stratified analyses were conducted based on significant interaction p-values. Results In the fully adjusted models, delayed menarche and gynecological surgery were associated with increased PhenoAgeAccel, whereas pregnancy history were associated with a decrease. Additionally, early or late ages of menopause, first live birth, and last live birth can all negatively impact PhenoAgeAccel. The relationship between women-specific reproductive factors and PhenoAgeAccel differs between premenopausal and postmenopausal women. High LE8 scores positively impacted the relationship between certain reproductive factors (age at menarche, age at menopause, age at first live birth, and age at last live birth) and phenotypic age acceleration. Stratified analysis showed significant interactions for the following variables: BMI with age at menarche, pregnancy history, and age at menopause; ethnicity with age at menopause, age at first live birth, and parity; smoking status with use of contraceptive pills and gynecologic surgery; hypertension with use of contraceptive pills, pregnancy history, and age at menopause. Conclusion Delayed menarche, gynecological surgery, and early or late ages of menopause, first live birth, and last live birth are associated with accelerated phenotypic aging. High LE8 score may alleviate the adverse effects of reproductive factors on phenotypic aging.

Abstract Background Epimedin A (EA) has been shown to suppress extensive osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption, but the effects of EA remain incompletely understood. The aim of our study was to investigate the effects of EA on osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption to explore the corresponding signalling pathways. Methods Rats were randomly assigned to the sham operation or ovariectomy group, and alendronate was used for the positive control group. The therapeutic effect of EA on osteoporosis was systematically analysed by measuring bone mineral density and bone biomechanical properties. In vitro, RAW264.7 cells were treated with receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) and macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) to induce osteoclast differentiation. Cell viability assays, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining, and immunofluorescence were used to elucidate the effects of EA on osteoclastogenesis. In addition, the expression of bone differentiation-related proteins or genes was evaluated using Western blot analysis or quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR), respectively. Results After 3 months of oral EA intervention, ovariectomized rats exhibited increased bone density, relative bone volume, trabecular thickness, and trabecular number, as well as reduced trabecular separation. EA dose-dependently normalized bone density and trabecular microarchitecture in the ovariectomized rats. Additionally, EA inhibited the expression of TRAP and NFATc1 in the ovariectomized rats. Moreover, the in vitro results indicated that EA inhibits osteoclast differentiation by suppressing the TRAF6/PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway. Further studies revealed that the effect on osteoclast differentiation, which was originally inhibited by EA, was reversed when the TRAF6 gene was overexpressed. Conclusions The findings indicated that EA can negatively regulate osteoclastogenesis by inhibiting the TRAF6/PI3K/AKT/NF-κB axis and that ameliorating ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats with EA may be a promising potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Abstract Background To evaluate the performances of several advanced deep convolutional neural network models (AlexNet, VGG, GoogLeNet, ResNet) based on ensemble learning for recognizing chronic gingivitis from screening oral images. Methods A total of 683 intraoral clinical images acquired from 134 volunteers were used to construct the database and evaluate the models. Four deep ConvNet models were developed using ensemble learning and outperformed a single model. The performances of the different models were evaluated by comparing the accuracy and sensitivity for recognizing the existence of gingivitis from intraoral images. Results The ResNet model achieved an area under the curve (AUC) value of 97%, while the AUC values for the GoogLeNet, AlexNet, and VGG models were 94%, 92%, and 89%, respectively. Although the ResNet and GoogLeNet models performed best in classifying gingivitis from images, the sensitivity outcomes were not significantly different among the ResNet, GoogLeNet, and Alexnet models (p>0.05). BackgroundSystemic inflammation (SI) and insulin resistance (IR) are correlated to the progression of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the potential clinical value of the C-reactive protein-triglyceride-glucose index (CTI) in relation to SI and IR in patients with GI cancer.MethodsThis prospective cohort study included patients with GI cancer. Patient data were collected from Fujian Cancer Hospital as an external validation cohort. Prognostic AUC, time-dependent ROC curve, C-index, and calibration curve analyses were used to predict the efficacy and accuracy of CTI survival prediction. Multivariate survival analysis was performed to evaluate the potential prognostic value of the CTI. Multiple logistic regression was performed to evaluate the relationship between the CTI and 90-day and 180-day mortalities.ResultsWe divided 1520 patients with GI cancer (mean age, 60.39 ± 11.3 years; male sex, 67%) into a training cohort and internal validation cohort; the external validation cohort included 476 patients. Prognostic AUC, time-dependent ROC curve, C-index, and calibration curve analyses of all cohorts indicated that the CTI could reliably and accurately predict the short- and long-term survival outcomes of patients with GI cancer. Multivariate survival analysis showed that for each standard deviation increase in the CTI, the risk of death increased by 32%, 21%, and 40% in the training, internal validation, and external validation cohorts, respectively. A high CTI was correlated to worse survival in patients with GI cancer (training cohort, hazard ratio [HR]=1.67, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.35–2.08; internal validation cohort, HR=1.51, 95% CI=1.07–2.14, and external validation cohort, HR=1.59, 95% CI=1.18–2.13). In different tumor subgroups, a high CTI predicted worse survival outcomes for upper GI cancer (HR=1.54, 95% CI=1.18–2.01) and lower GI cancer (HR=1.98, 95% CI=1.36–2.86). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a high CTI was positively correlated with 90-day (odds ratio [OR]=3.25, 95% CI=1.75–6.23) and 180-day mortalities (OR=2.66, 95% CI=1.72–4.15).ConclusionsThe CTI is related to SI and IR and can predict the short- and long-term prognosis of patients with GI cancer. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is considered as an important non-invasive way for tumor ablation in deep organs. However, accurate real-time monitoring of the temperature field within HIFU focal area remains a challenge. Although ultrasound technology, compared with other approaches, is a good choice for noninvasive and real-time monitoring on the temperature distribution, traditional ultrasonic thermometry mainly relies on the backscattered signal, which is difficult for high temperature (>50 °C) measurement. Given that artificial intelligence (AI) shows significant potential for biomedical applications, we propose an AI-powered ultrasonic thermometry using an end-to-end deep neural network termed Breath-guided Multimodal Teacher-Student (BMTS), which possesses the capability to elucidate the interaction between HIFU and complex heterogeneous biological media. It has been demonstrated experimentally that two-dimension temperature distribution within HIFU focal area in deep organ can be accurately reconstructed with an average error and a frame speed of 0.8 °C and 0.37 s, respectively. Most importantly, the maximum measurable temperature for ultrasonic technology has been successfully expanded to a record value of 67 °C. This breakthrough indicates that the development of AI-powered ultrasonic thermometry is beneficial for precise HIFU therapy planning in the future.

Lithium-ion battery (LIB) is the most widely used secondary battery and has been extensively studied in the past few decades due to its many advantages compared to other secondary batteries, such as higher energy density and better cycling performance. Considering the potential risks of environmental pollution and fire hazard induced by leakage or overheating of conventional electrolytes composed of flammable organic solvent-dissolving Li salts, non-flammable solid electrolytes (SEs), especially ceramic electrolytes with different structural types have been developed to improve the safety performance of LIBs. As the properties of SEs significantly depend on the microstructure, this review systemically summarized the recent progress in inorganic solid electrolytes based on the classification of microstructure and presented the relevant discussion in detail, including the microstructures, the mechanisms of Li ionic migration and performance optimization. Additionally, several challenges for realizing industrial application of SEs, such as lower ionic conductivities compared to liquid electrolytes and unsatisfactory stability in ambient atmosphere were mentioned. To effectively boost the development of SEs, more advanced transmission electron microscopy and atom probe tomography should be considered to deeply investigate the relationship between microstructure and properties in the future.

Objectives: MDS and AML characterized by TP53 variations have a poor prognosis in general. However, specifically, differences in prognosis have also been observed in patients with different TP53 variants and VAFs.Methods: Here, we retrospectively analyzed datasets of patients with MDS, MPN, and AML who underwent targeted DNA sequencing from February 2018 to December 2023, and patients with reportable TP53 variations were screened. Demographic data and clinical data were collected, and the relationship between TP53 alterations and patient prognosis (AML/MDS) was analyzed using the cBioPortal and Kaplan–Meier Plotter databases. The relationship between the VAFs of TP53 variations and prognoses was analyzed using data from the present study.Results: Sixty-two variants of TP53 were identified in 58 patients. We mainly identified single mutations (79.31%, 46/58), followed by double (17.24%, 10/58) and triple (3.45%, 2/58) mutations. The variations were mainly enriched in exon4–exon8 of TP53. Missense (72.58%, 45/62) mutations were the main type of variations, followed by splice-site (9.68%, 6/62), nonsense (9.68%, 6/62), frameshift (6.45%, 4/62), and indel (1.61%, 1/62) mutations. BackgroundThe Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocyte, and Platelet score (HALP) is an inflammatory nutrition-related biomarker based on hemoglobin and albumin levels, as well as the lymphocyte and platelet load index, which has been reported to be associated with the prognosis of various types of tumors. This study aims to investigate the prognostic value of HALP in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).MethodsA total of 2,428 patients with NSCLC were enrolled in the INSCOC study. Time-patient survival trends were validated using Kaplan–Meier curves and log-rank tests. The Restricted Cubic Spline function was used to analyze the relationship between the HALP index and overall survival (OS). The Cox regression model was used for univariate and multivariate analyses.ResultsThe study included 2,053 patients with detailed biological information and follow-up data, consisting of 1,346 men (65.6%) and 707 women (34.4%). Within this cohort, 138 patients (6.7%) had stage I disease, 282 (13.7%) had stage II, 477 (23.2%) had stage III, and 1,156 (56.3%) had stage IV. A total of 536 patients (26.1%) underwent surgery, 1,494 (72.8%) received chemotherapy, and 271 (13.2%) received radiotherapy. The 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates for patients with NSCLC were 68.6, 48.6, 37.4, and 30.9%, respectively. Piperacillin is a beta-lactamase inhibitor frequently used in the treatment of urinary tract infections. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with strong antibacterial action against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter, especially extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteria and Enterococcus. Side effects of piperacillin include allergic reactions, rashes such as urticaria, leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attacks, serological reactions, candida infection, and bleeding with more severe reactions resulting in anaphylactic shock. Anemia and hemolytic anemia are rare adverse reactions to piperacillin, with an incidence of 0.01–0.10%. We report herein the case of a severe postoperative immune hemolytic reaction to piperacillin. Fortunately, we quickly recognized and identified the drug reaction caused by piperacillin, immediately stopped the use of piperacillin, and performed a blood transfusion. The patient recovered and was subsequently discharged from the hospital.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of dacryoendoscopic-assisted laser dacryoplasty with silicone intubation (DLDI) for the management of nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) or stenosis, and to identify the factors associated with DLDI failure.Methods and analysis This study was designed as a prospective, single-centre cohort study. Patients with NLDO or stenosis who underwent DLDI from December 2019 to December 2021 at Tianjin Eye Hospital were considered for enrolment. The Kaplan-Meier estimator was used to assess the anatomical and functional success rate of DLDI within 2 years follow-up after removal of the silicone stent. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to identify risk factors for treatment failure.Results 170, 174 and 178 eyes were included in Groups A (proximal NLDO), B (distal NLDO) and C (nasolacrimal duct stenosis), respectively. The overall anatomical success rate was 84.8% for the entire cohort at the 2-year follow-up. The cumulative anatomical or functional success rate for Groups B and C was significantly higher than that for Group A. The great potential of polysaccharides in immunological regulation has recently been highlighted in pharmacological and clinical studies. Polysaccharides can trigger immunostimulatory responses through molecular identification, intra- and intercellular communication via direct or indirect interactions with the immune system. Various immunostimulatory polysaccharides or their derivative compounds interacts at cellular level to boost the immune system, including arabinogalactans, fucoidans, mannans, xylans, galactans, hyaluronans, fructans, pectin and arabinogalactans, etc. These natural polysaccharides are derived from various plants, animals and microbes. A unique structural diversity has been identified in polysaccharides, while monosaccharides and glucosidic bonds mainly confer diverse biological activities. These natural polysaccharides improve antioxidant capacity, reduce the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, strengthen the intestinal barrier, influence the composition of intestinal microbial populations and promote the synthesis of short-chain fatty acids. These natural polysaccharides are also known to reduce excessive inflammatory responses. It is crucial to develop polysaccharide-based immunomodulators that could be used to prevent or treat certain diseases. This review highlights the structural features, immunomodulatory properties, underlying immunomodulatory mechanisms of naturally occurring polysaccharides, and activities related to immune effects by elucidating a complex relationship between polysaccharides and immunity. In addition, the future of these molecules as potential immunomodulatory components that could transform pharmaceutical applications at clinical level will also be highlighted.

BackgroundEpithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE), is an uncommon, intermediate-grade malignant vascular tumor that can manifest in diverse organs, including the liver, lungs, and bones. Given its unique malignancy profile and rarity, there lacks a consensus on a standardized treatment protocol for EHE, particularly for hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEHE). This study aims to elucidate factors influencing the clinical prognosis of EHE by analyzing data from the SEER database, complemented with insights from a departmental cohort of 9 HEHE cases. Through this, we hope to shed light on potential clinical outcomes and therapeutic strategies for HEHE.MethodsUsing SEER data from 22 registries, we analyzed 313 liver cancer patients with ICD-O-3 9130 and 9133 histology. Twelve variables were examined using Cox regression and mlr3 machine learning. Significant variables were identified and compared. Clinical data, imaging characteristics, and treatment methods of nine patients from our cohort were also presented.ResultIn univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, Age, Sex, Year of diagnosis, Surgery of primary site, Chemotherapy, and Median household income were closely related to survival outcomes. Among the ten survival-related machine learning models, CoxPH, Flexible, Mboost, and Gamboost stood out based on Area Under the Curve(AUC), Decision Curve Analysis(DCA), and Calibration Curve Metrics. In the feature importance analysis of these four selected models, Age and Surgery of primary site were consistently identified as the most critical factors influencing prognosis. Additionally, the clinical data of nine patients from our cohort not only demonstrated unique imaging characteristics of HEHE but also underscored the importance of surgical intervention.ConclusionFor patients with resectable HEHE, surgical treatment is currently a highly important therapeutic approach.

PurposeCurrently, a range of electromagnetic therapies, including magnetic field therapy, micro-currents therapy, and tumor treating fields, are under investigation for their potential in central nervous system tumor research. Each of these electromagnetic therapies possesses distinct effects and limitations. Our focus is on overcoming these limitations by developing a novel electric field generator. This generator operates by producing alternating induced currents within the tumor area through electromagnetic induction.MethodsFinite element analysis was employed to calculate the distribution of electric fields. Cell viability was assessed using the CCK-8 assay. Tumor volumes and weights served as indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of TTIF. The in-vivo imaging system was utilized to confirm tumor growth in the brains of mice.ResultsTTIF significantly inhibited the proliferation of U87 cells both in vitro and in vivo.ConclusionTTIF significantly inhibited the proliferation of U87 cells both in vitro and in vivo. Consequently, TTIF emerges as a potential treatment option for patients with progressive or metastatic GBM.

The World Health Organization (WHO) 2017 classifications for neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) subdivided grade 3 pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNENs) into G3 well-differentiated pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (G3 pNETs) and poorly differentiated pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas (pNECs), according to the mitotic count, Ki-67 index, and cell differentiation. As a new category, G3 pNETs remain a challenging group of tumors to manage by lacking large randomized trials and consensus to support its clinical practice. Therefore, the Chinese Pancreatic Surgery Association, Chinese Society of Surgery, Chinese Medical Association gathered experts in this field to formulate this consensus for the diagnosis and treatment of G3 pNETs.

The Tibetan Plateau (TP) has been the focus of numerous studies examining the energy and water cycle variations, but there is still a lack of long-term, quantitative precise assessments of evapotranspiration. This research first provided two sets of long-term comprehensive observational datasets, and an advanced monitoring technique to measure soil moisture, which can improve the estimation accuracy of evapotranspiration. Subsequently, using microwave data, the Surface Energy Balance System model and Machine Learning methods, it calculated a complete set of long-term evapotranspiration data. At the same time, based on reasonable assumptions, it also estimated the total evaporation from plateau lakes. These findings contribute significantly to the understanding of the relationship between the Asian monsoon, the TP’s physical characteristics, and its atmosphere, thereby improving predictions of water resource variability in the TP. The study’s innovative methodologies and synthesis of diverse data sources provide critical information for informed and sustainable water management strategies in the region.

MicroRNA-150-5p (miR-150-5p) has been implicated in the progression of several cancer types, yet its specific functional role and regulatory mechanisms in bladder cancer (BC) remain largely unexplored. Our study revealed significant downregulation of miR-150-5p and upregulation of NEDD4-binding protein 2-like 1 gene (N4BP2L1) in BC tissues compared to controls using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis, respectively. Reduced miR-150-5p expression correlated with advanced tumor stage and lymph node metastasis, while increased N4BP2L1 levels were associated with larger tumor size by the Chi-square test. Functionally, miR-150-5p exerted significant inhibitory effects on BC cell proliferation, migration, inducing G0/G1 phase arrest, and apoptosis. We confirmed N4BP2L1 as a direct target of miR-150-5p in BC cells using luciferase reporter assay. Crucially, N4BP2L1 knockdown mimicked, while overexpression counteracted the inhibitory impacts of miR-150-5p on BC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In addition, N4BP2L1 overexpression reversed miR-150-5p-induced alterations in CDK4, Cyclin D1, Bcl-2, PCNA, Ki-67, N-cadherin, Bad, and E-cadherin levels in BC cells. Based on these results, it can be inferred that the miR-150-5p/N4BP2L1 axis might constitute a promising candidate for therapeutic targeting in the treatment of BC.

Abstract Objective To investigate the extent of knowledge about breastfeeding and attitudes towards infant feeding among spouses of puerperas at the time of discharge from hospital, and explore the factors influencing spousal attitudes toward breastfeeding. Methods We conducted a questionnaire survey among 204 spouses of puerperas who were admitted in the maternity wards at a tertiary hospital in Shaanxi Province between October 2021 and December 2021. Respondents who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were identified using convenient sampling. Results (1) The score of breastfeeding knowledge among spouses prior to discharge from the hospital was (10.56 ± 3.78), with an accuracy rate of 59.6%, and the lowest accuracy rate was for Item 1 “Newborns should be fed on time, not on demand” (42.6%) and Item 5 “Breastfeeding can prevent infant rickets” (49.5%). (2) The average score of spouses’ infant feeding attitudes was (58.15 ± 5.55), and the lowest scoring was for Item 17 “Daily urine volume of infants is a reliable indicator to judge whether they get enough breast milk” (1.99 ± 1.14). (3) Generalized linear model analysis showed a more positive attitude (higher score) among spousal attitudes towards infant feeding in those who had received breastfeeding education [OR = 4.588, 95% CI (0.160 ∼ 3.598)] and those with a master’s degree or above [OR = 18.278, 95% CI (3.471 ∼ 9.346)]. Conclusion (1) Spouses that received breastfeeding education and those that had a Masters Degree and above had more positive attitude towards infant feeding. (2) Medical staff should focus on puerperas’spouses with degrees below master’s level who had not received breastfeeding education. We recommend using a variety of education methods to enable them to acquire more knowledge on breastfeeding and develop a more positive attitude towards breastfeeding, which will further enhance spousal support for breastfeeding, thus positivizing postpartum co-parenting attitudes and improving the rate of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract Although patients with alpha-fetoprotein-negative hepatocellular carcinoma (AFPNHCC) have a favorable prognosis, a high risk of postoperative recurrence remains. We developed and validated a novel liver fibrosis assessment index, the direct bilirubin-gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase-to-platelet ratio (DGPRI). DGPRI was calculated for each of the 378 patients with AFPNHCC who underwent hepatic resection. The patients were divided into high- and low-score groups using the optimal cutoff value. The Lasso-Cox method was used to identify the characteristics of postoperative recurrence, followed by multivariate Cox regression analysis to determine the independent risk factors associated with recurrence. A nomogram model incorporating the DGPRI was developed and validated. High DGPRI was identified as an independent risk factor (hazard ratio = 2.086) for postoperative recurrence in patients with AFPNHCC. DGPRI exhibited better predictive ability for recurrence 1–5 years after surgery than direct bilirubin and the gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase-to-platelet ratio. The DGPRI-nomogram model demonstrated good predictive ability, with a C-index of 0.674 (95% CI 0.621–0.727). The calibration curves and clinical decision analysis demonstrated its clinical utility. The DGPRI nomogram model performed better than the TNM and BCLC staging systems for predicting recurrence-free survival. DGPRI is a novel and effective predictor of postoperative recurrence in patients with AFPNHCC and provides a superior assessment of preoperative liver fibrosis.

Abstract Background The antiviral drug Nirmatrelvir was found to be a key drug in controlling the progression of pneumonia during the infectious phase of COVID-19. However, there are very few options for effective treatment for cancer patients who have viral pneumonia. Glucocorticoids is one of the effective means to control pneumonia, but there are many adverse events. EGCG is a natural low toxic compound with anti-inflammatory function. Thus, this study was designed to investigate the safety and efficacy of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) aerosol to control COVID-19 pneumonia in cancer populations. Methods The study was designed as a prospective, single-arm, open-label phase I/II trial at Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute, between January 5, 2023 to March 31,2023 with viral pneumonia on radiographic signs after confirmed novel coronavirus infection. These patients were treated with EGCG nebulization 10 ml three times daily for at least seven days. EGCG concentrations were increased from 1760-8817umol/L to 4 levels with dose escalation following a standard Phase I design of 3–6 patients per level. Any grade adverse event caused by EGCG was considered a dose-limiting toxicity (DLT). The maximum tolerated dose (MTD) is defined as the highest dose with less than one-third of patients experiencing dose limiting toxicity (DLT) due to EGCG. The primary end points were the toxicity of EGCG and CT findings, and the former was graded by Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v. 5.0. The secondary end point was the laboratory parameters before and after treatment. Result A total of 60 patients with high risk factors for severe COVID-19 pneumonia (factors such as old age, smoking and combined complications)were included in this phase I-II study. The 54 patients in the final analysis were pathologically confirmed to have tumor burden and completed the whole course of treatment. A patient with bucking at a level of 1760 umol/L and no acute toxicity associated with EGCG has been reported at the second or third dose gradients. At dose escalation to 8817umol/L, Grade 1 adverse events of nausea and stomach discomfort occurred in two patients, which resolved spontaneously within 1 hour. After one week of treatment, CT showed that the incidence of non-progression of pneumonia was 82% (32/39), and the improvement rate of pneumonia was 56.4% (22/39). There was no significant difference in inflammation-related laboratory parameters (white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, IL-6, ferritin, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase) before and after treatment. Conclusion Aerosol inhalation of EGCG is well tolerated, and preliminary investigation in cancer population suggests that EGCG may be effective in COVID-19-induced pneumonia, which can promote the improvement of patients with moderate pneumonia or prevent them from developing into severe pneumonia. A mechanism has been developed to achieve rapid deployment of longitudinally folding wings by utilizing compound actuation from the firing powder and the compressive spring. A theoretical model based on rigid-body dynamics was first proposed to study the deployment characteristics of longitudinal folding wings under compound-driven effects. Subsequently, deployment experiments were conducted using a prototype to validate the theoretical model. It was observed that the folding wings are deployed in 11 ms. Further parametric analysis indicates that the mass of both the propellant and the locking rod has a positive effect on the deploying velocity. However, the angular moment of inertia of folding wings has a negative effect on the initial angular velocity. This work can be helpful for designing the folding wing structures of missiles and aircrafts.

Intestinal microbiota and its metabolites are involved in many physiological processes of the human body and play a vital role in maintaining human health. The occurrence of kidney disease can cause intestinal microbiota imbalance, resulting in diarrhea. The change of intestinal microbiota and its metabolites content can aggravate renal function injury, which has a bidirectional regulating effect. The theory of renal-intestinal axis further clarified that the impaired renal function is related to the imbalance of intestinal microorganisms, and the impaired intestinal barrier is related to the accumulation of toxin products. Because of its unique therapeutic advantages, Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat diarrhea by enhancing the growth of beneficial bacteria, inhibiting pathogenic bacteria and immune regulation, and slow down the continuous deterioration of kidney disease. This paper focuses on the relationship between intestinal microbiota and its metabolites and diarrhea, the influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine on intestinal microbiota in the treatment of diarrhea, and the role of intestinal microbiota and its metabolites in the renal-intestinal axis. It provides a theoretical basis for Traditional Chinese Medicine to regulate intestinal microbiota and its metabolites based on the renal-intestinal axis theory to treat nephrology-induced diarrhea, and also provides a new idea and method for Traitional Chinese Medicine to treat nephrology-induced diarrhea.

ABSTRACT Gut dysbiosis is closely related to dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) in the intestinal epithelial cells, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease (CD). We investigated the relationship between fecal gut microbiome (GM) and intestinal tissue miRNAs in different stages of pediatric CD. Metagenomic analysis and miRNA sequencing were conducted to examine the GM and intestinal miRNA profiles of CD patients before and after clinical induction therapy and the controls. Twenty-seven newly diagnosed, therapy-naïve pediatric patients with active CD and 11 non-inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) controls were recruited in this study. Among CD patients, 11 patients completed induction treatment and reached clinical remission. Both GM and miRNA profiles were significantly changed between CD patients and controls. Seven key bacteria were identified at species level including Defluviitalea raffinosedens, Thermotalea metallivorans, Roseburia intestinalis, Dorea sp. AGR2135, Escherichia coli, Shigella sonnei, and Salmonella enterica, the exact proportions of which were further validated by real-time quantitative PCR analysis. Eight key miRNAs were also identified including hsa-miR-215-5p, hsa-miR-194-5p, hsa-miR-12135, hsa-miR-509-3-5p, hsa-miR-212-5p, hsa-miR-4448, hsa-miR-501-3p, and hsa-miR-503-5p. The functional enrichment analysis of differential miRNAs indicated the significantly altered cyclin protein, cyclin-dependent protein, and cell cycle pathway. The close interactions between seven key bacteria and eight key miRNAs were further investigated by miRNA target prediction. The association between specific miRNA expressions and key gut bacteria at different stages of CD supported their important roles as potential molecular biomarkers. Understanding the relationship between them will help us to explore the molecular mechanisms of CD.IMPORTANCESince previous studies have focused on the change of the fecal gut microbiome and intestinal tissue miRNA in pediatric Crohn’s disease (CD), the relationship between them in different stages is still not clear. This is the first study to explore the gut microbiota and miRNA and their correlations with the Pediatric Crohn’s Disease Activity Index (PCDAI). Crohn’s Disease Endoscopic Index of Severity (CDEIS), and calprotectin, by applying two omics approach in three different groups (active CD, CD in remission with exclusive enteral nutrition or infliximab induction therapy, and the healthy controls). Both gut microbiome structure and the miRNA profiles were significantly changed in the different stage of CD. Seven key gut microbiome at species and eight key miRNAs were found, and their close interactions were further fully investigated by miRNA target prediction.

Since the p53 protein is an important promising biomarker of lung tumor and colorectal tumor, it is very essential to design a highly effective mean to monitor the degree of p53 for the early clinical analysis/therapy of the related tumors. In this work, a sandwich-type electrochemical immunosensing (SES) platform is proposed for the first time to detect p53 via synthesizing Ti3C2Tx MXene nanoribbons (Ti3C2Tx Nb) and ferrocene/gold nanoparticles (Fc/Au) respectively as the sensing substrate and signal-amplifier. The superior electrical property and large surface area of Ti3C2Tx Nb are beneficial to assemble the initial p53-antibodies (Ab1), while the synthesized Fc/Au is devoted to assemble the secondary p53 antibodies (Ab2) and gives a magnified signal. By adopting the Fc molecules as the probes, the experiments reveal the response current of Fc resulted from the SES structure increases along with the p53 increase from 1.0 to 200.0 pg mL−1. A considerable low detection limit (1.0 pg mL−1) is achieved after optimizing several key conditions, it is thus confirmed the as-proposed SES mean exhibits significant application in the detection of p53 protein and other targets.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignancy in China, with high recurrence rate and low resection rate among patients first diagnosed. Preoperative treatments including neoadjuvant and conversion therapy have the potential to overcome these challenges. In December 2021, Chinese expert consensus on neoadjuvant and conversion therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma was published. With the emersion of new evidence regarding the neoadjuvant and conversion therapies for HCC, the cooperative group brought together multidisciplinary researchers and scholars with experience in related fields to update the new edition (2023 Edition) for reference in China, including principle of the treatment strategies, the potential populations selection, treatment methods, multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and future research for preoperative treatments. The new consensus aims to provide guidance for clinical application. Through the use of neoadjuvant therapy and conversion therapy, we can enhance the resection rate and reduce the recurrence of intermediate-to-advanced HCC patients, thereby improving survival outcomes.

ABSTRACT Sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) can reduce sugarcane productivity. A novel detection system based on reverse transcription-multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification (RT-MIRA) combined with CRISPR-Cas12a, named RT-MIRA-CRISPR-Cas12a, was developed. This innovative approach employs crude leaf extract directly as the reaction template, streamlining the extraction process for simplicity and speed. Combining RT-MIRA and CRISPR-Cas12a in one reaction tube increases the ease of operation while reducing the risk of aerosol contamination. In addition, it exhibits sensitivity equivalent to qPCR, boasting a lower detection limit of 25 copies. Remarkably, the entire process, from sample extraction to reaction completion, requires only 52–57 minutes, just a thermostat water bath. The result can be observed and judged by the naked eye.IMPORTANCESugarcane yellow leaf disease (SCYLD) is an important viral disease that affects sugarcane yield. There is an urgent need for rapid, sensitive, and stable detection methods. The reverse transcription-multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification combined with CRISPR-Cas12a (RT-MIRA-CRISPR-Cas12a) method established in this study has good specificity and high sensitivity. In addition, the system showed good compatibility and stability with the crude leaf extract, as shown by the fact that the crude extract of the positive sample could still be stably detected after 1 week when placed at 4°C. RT-MIRA-CRISPR-Cas12a, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were used to detect SCYLV on 33 sugarcane leaf samples collected from the field, and it was found that the three methods reached consistent conclusions. This Cas12a-based detection method proves highly suitable for the rapid on-site detection of the SCYLV.

In this paper, a dual deep Q-network (DDQN) energy management model based on long-short memory neural network (LSTM) speed prediction is proposed under the model predictive control (MPC) framework. The initial learning rate and neuron dropout probability of the LSTM speed prediction model are optimized by the genetic algorithm (GA). The prediction results show that the root-mean-square error of the GA-LSTM speed prediction method is smaller than the SVR method in different speed prediction horizons. The predicted demand power, the state of charge (SOC), and the demand power at the current moment are used as the state input of the agent, and the real-time control of the control strategy is realized by the MPC method. The simulation results show that the proposed control strategy reduces the equivalent fuel consumption by 0.0354 kg compared with DDQN, 0.8439 kg compared with ECMS, and 0.742 kg compared with the power-following control strategy. The difference between the proposed control strategy and the dynamic planning control strategy is only 0.0048 kg, 0.193%, while the SOC of the power battery remains stable. Finally, the hardware-in-the-loop simulation verifies that the proposed control strategy has good real-time performance.

The generator, which combines convolutional neural network (CNN) and Transformer as its core modules, serves as the primary model for the handwriting font generation network and demonstrates effective performance. However, there are still problems with insufficient feature extraction in the overall structure of the font, the thickness of strokes, and the curvature of strokes, resulting in subpar detail in the generated fonts. To solve the problems, we propose a method for constructing a handwritten font generation model based on Pyramid Squeeze Attention, called PSA-HWT. The PSA-HWT model is divided into two parts: an encoder and a decoder. In the encoder, a multi-branch structure is used to extract spatial information at different scales from the input feature map, achieving multi-scale feature extraction. This helps better capture the semantic information and global structure of the font, aiding the generation model in understanding fine-grained features such as the shape, thickness, and curvature of the font. In the decoder, it uses a self-attention mechanism to capture dependencies across various positions in the input sequence. This helps to better understand the relationship between the generated strokes or characters and the handwritten font being generated, ensuring the overall coherence of the generated handwritten text. The experimental results on the IAM dataset demonstrate that PSA-HWT achieves a 16.35% decrease in Fréchet inception distance (FID) score and a 13.09% decrease in Geometry Score (GS) compared to the current advanced methods. This indicates that PSA-HWT generates handwritten fonts of higher quality, making it more practically valuable.

Abstract Chorus waves are intense electromagnetic emissions critical in modulating electron dynamics. In this study, we perform two‐dimensional particle‐in‐cell simulations to investigate self‐consistent wave‐particle interactions with oblique chorus waves. We first analyze the electron dynamics sampled from cyclotron and Landau resonances with waves, and then quantify the advection and diffusion coefficients through statistical studies. It is found that phase‐trapped cyclotron resonant electrons satisfy the second‐order resonance condition and gain energy from waves. While phase‐bunched cyclotron resonant electrons cannot remain in resonance for long periods. They transfer energy to waves and are scattered to smaller pitch angles. Landau resonant electrons are primarily energized by waves. For both types of resonances, advection coefficients are greater than diffusion coefficients when the wave amplitude is large. Our study highlights the important role of advection in electron dynamics modulation resulting from nonlinear wave‐particle interactions.

Abstract Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) describes a process by which tumor cells formed a novel microcirculation pattern in an endothelial cell‐free manner. Clinically, VM is associated with aggressive phenotype and poor patient survival. However, the current models for investigating VM include 2D monolayer cultures, Matrigel‐based cultures, and animal models, each of which has limitations. Matrigel‐based models often exhibit batch‐to‐batch variations, while in vivo tumor models currently produce insufficient amounts of VM. There is currently no suitable tumor model to discover new therapeutic targets against VM. Herein, we establish an extracellular matrix (ECM)‐based engineered tumor model in vivo and in vitro. In this study, we demonstrate that matrix proteins enhanced the VM formation in the engineered xenograft model. Furthermore, we also investigated the role of collagen/fibronectin (FN) in melanoma progression and VM formation. Compared with cells cultured on TCPS plates, the B16F10 cells cultured on collagen/FN coated plates showed increased proliferation and stemness, and significantly enhanced invasion and formation of VM networks. Molecular mechanism analysis showed that Integrin/VE‐cadherin/EphA2/PI3K/MMP‐2 signaling pathways are responsible for VM formation. Our results indicate that collagen/FN matrix plays an important role in VM formation in melanoma, suggesting that ECM protein is a potential therapeutic target for anti‐VM therapy for melanoma.

Background & Aims: Hepatic recompensation may be achieved in patients with decompensated cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis B (CHB) upon effective suppression of viral replication by nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs). However, the optimal timing and predictors of recompensation and the subsequent clinical course of patients with CHB with vs. without recompensation are not well-defined. Methods: This study was a retrospective extension of a multi-centre prospective cohort, focusing on patients with CHB and decompensated cirrhosis treated with entecavir. We followed patients beyond treatment week 120 until a second decompensation event or June 2023. We identified the optimal timing and predictors of recompensation by week 120, evaluated durability of recompensation in patients fulfilling recompensation criteria by week 120 and examined late recompensation in those who did not fulfil it by week 120. Results: At treatment week 24, serum albumin ≥34 g/L predicted recompensation by week 120. The Brec-PAS model offered good predictive ability for recompensation by week 120. Of the 283 patients who finished 120 weeks of therapy, 175 were followed beyond week 120 (median follow-up: 240 weeks). Among the 106 patients achieving recompensation by week 120, 92 (86.8%) maintained recompensation for another 120 (72-168) weeks. Among the 69 patients without recompensation by week 120, 40.6% attained late recompensation during the subsequent 120 (72-168) weeks. Additionally, hepatocellular carcinoma incidence was lower in the recompensated group (5.0% vs. 16.13%, p = 0.002). Conclusions: A serum albumin ≥34 g/L at treatment week 24 predicted recompensation by week 120. Recompensation achieved by week 120 of NA treatment is maintained in >80% of patients in the long term. Some patients may achieve recompensation only after >120 weeks of NA treatment. The incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma was reduced but not completely abolished after recompensation. Impact and implications: Our research provides a meaningful contribution to understanding the long-term prognosis of recompensation in patients with chronic hepatitis B and decompensated cirrhosis, as well as to evaluating the predictive value of serum albumin levels, offering a comprehensive view of clinical outcomes after recompensation. The significance of early biomarkers in guiding therapeutic decisions is highlighted, shedding light on the continued benefits and possible risks after recompensation. This enhances the capability for more precise prognostic evaluations and informed therapeutic strategies. For healthcare providers, these insights afford a detailed perspective on patient monitoring and intervention planning, underscoring the need for ongoing assessment past the initial recompensation phase.

ObjectiveTo analyze the genomic characteristics of the monkeypox virus (MPXV) strains isolated from local cases in Ji′nan city, Shandong province. MethodsBlood serum and vesicular fluid samples from suspected cases of MPXV infection reported in Ji′nan city from June to October 2023 were tested for MPXV nucleic acids. The complete genome sequence of MPXV was obtained using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) technology. Molecular genetic evolution of the MPXV genome sequence was performed using Mega 11 software, Bioedit software, and the Nextclade online comparison website. Systematic phylogenetic trees and nucleotide and amino acid sequence mutation analyses were performed. ResultsIn this study, the complete genome sequences of 7 strains of MPXV isolated from the cases in Ji′nan city were obtained by WGS, with a total genome length of 196 858 bp. The online comparison results uploaded to the Nexttrade website showed that all of them belonged to the IIb branch of the West African branch, and the lineage classification was C.1. The number of nucleotide variations with a depth greater than 50% is 86, and the total number of variations with an effect of ≥ intermediate is 39. ConclusionThe evolutionary distance between the sequences of MPXV strains isolated in Ji′nan city and those in China is relatively close, belonging to the same evolutionary branch, and no new branches have been found.

Abstract To enhance the DC electrical performance of cross‐linked polyethylene (XLPE), the graftable antioxidant methacrylic acid 2‐hydroxy‐3‐(4‐anilinoanilino) propyl ester (GA), which contains carbonyl and amino groups, and the crosslinking coagent trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), which contains carbonyl groups, are individually or co‐grafted onto XLPE. The slightly higher deep trap density introduced by higher grafting concentration of TMPTMA results in more significant suppression effect of conductance current and enhanced breakdown strength at a lower temperature, while the suppression effect for the conductance current at 90°C becomes weakened due to limited trap energy. Meanwhile, the deeper energy level introduced by GA suppresses the conductance current and improves the electrical strength of XLPE at 90°C more significantly. By co‐grafting, the conductance current of XLPE in a wide range temperature can be significantly reduced, especially for the temperature dependence of conductance current, which is beneficial to suppress the field strength reversal. The results of thermally stimulated current and molecular simulation show that the polar groups of two monomers introduce deep charge traps in XLPE. The co‐grafting system ensures the rationality of the crosslinking reaction kinetics and does not affect the cable manufacturing.

To address the issue of insufficient feature extraction in handwritten font generation models concerning stroke position, tilt angle, and stroke thickness, which leads to significant discrepancies in details between generated fonts and real handwritten fonts, we propose a handwritten font generation model, MCA2Net-HFG. The model is based on Residual Resolution Network(Res2Net) and Multi-spectral Channel Attention (MCA) as the main structure of the encoder. We use Res2Net as the backbone network of the Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) encoder to capture font features at different scales, such as stroke thickness, curvature, and position, as well as other fine-grained characteristics. Additionally, incorporating Multi-spectral Channel Attention into Res2Net captures key feature information located at different frequencies within the channels, enabling the model to better learn important characteristics of fonts during the training phase. This ensures the authenticity of the generated handwritten fonts. Experimental results on the IAM dataset show that compared to the current best methods, MCA2Net-HFG reduces the Fréchet Inception Distance(FID) score by 18.60% and the Geometry Score(GS) score by 50.59%. This indicates that MCA2Net-HFG generates higher quality handwritten fonts and has greater practical value. Additionally, results on different test sets validate the model’s good generalization performance.

Recent advancements in text-to-image generation have demonstrated significant progress, especially with diffusion-based models conditioned on textual prompts, which excel in image quality and diversity. However, these methods often encounter a semantic gap between image and text modalities and suffer from imprecise localization during text-based image editing. To address these challenges, we propose the Diffusion-based Knowledge-enhanced Mask Transformer (Diff-KT) text-to-image model. Diff-KT leverages knowledge enhancement strategies to incorporate fine-grained textual and visual knowledge of key scene elements, thereby improving the fidelity and textual consistency of generated images. Furthermore, it enhances the controllability of textual influences on image generation by using masks to precisely target areas in the image for editing. To facilitate deeper fusion of visual and textual information, we introduce a multimodal pre-trained model CoCa, to extract joint representations of images and text, enhancing the detailed expression in generated images. Diff-KT improves the correlation between text and generated images and enhances image localization precision within the diffusion model, resulting in high-quality images. Experimental results validate the advantages of the Diff-KT model, demonstrating higher correlation between generated images and text prompts, as well as more accurate localization during text-guided image editing, underscoring its practical value.

In addressing the Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP), deep reinforcement learning eliminates the need for mathematical modeling of the problem, requiring only interaction with the real environment to learn effective strategies. Using disjunctive graphs as the state representation has proven to be a particularly effective method. Additionally, attention mechanisms enable rapid focus on relevant features. However, due to the unique structure of attention mechanisms, current methods fail to provide effective strategies after changes in scale. To resolve this issue, we propose an end-to-end deep reinforcement learning framework for the FJSP. Initially, we introduce a lightweight attention model, the Graph Gated Channel Transformation (GGCT), to identify the characteristics of the workpieces being scheduled at the current decision-making moment, while suppressing redundant features. Subsequently, to address the inability to provide effective strategies after changes in scale, we modify the expression of disjunctive graph features, channeling global features into different channels to capture relevant information at the current moment effectively. Comparative analysis on generated and classical datasets shows our model reduces the average makespan significantly, from 8.243% to 7.037% and from 10.08% to 8.69%, respectively.

In the realm of mobile robotics, the capability to navigate and map uncharted territories is paramount, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) stands as a cornerstone technology enabling this capability. While traditional SLAM methods like Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and FastSLAM have made strides, they often struggle with the complexities of non-linear dynamics and non-Gaussian noise, particularly in dynamic settings. Moreover, these methods can be computationally intensive, limiting their applicability in real-world scenarios. This paper introduces an innovative enhancement to the FastSLAM framework by integrating Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MO-PSO), aiming to bolster the robustness and accuracy of SLAM in mobile robots. We outline the theoretical underpinnings of FastSLAM and underscore its significance in robotic autonomy for mapping and exploration. Our approach innovates by crafting a specialized fitness function within the MO-PSO paradigm, which is instrumental in optimizing the particle distribution and addressing the challenges inherent in traditional particle filtering methods. This strategic fusion of MO-PSO with FastSLAM not only circumvents the pitfalls of particle degeneration, but also enhances the overall robustness and precision of the SLAM process across a spectrum of operational environments. Our empirical evaluation involves testing the proposed method on three distinct simulation benchmarks, comparing its performance against four other algorithms. The results indicate that our MO-PSO-enhanced FastSLAM method outperforms the traditional particle filtering approach by significantly reducing particle degeneration and ensuring more reliable and precise SLAM performance in challenging environments. This research demonstrates that the integration of MO-PSO with FastSLAM is a promising direction for improving SLAM in mobile robots, providing a robust solution for accurate mapping and localization even in complex and unknown settings.

This study develops a semi-empirical model of an alkaline water electrolyzer (AWE) based on thermodynamic and electrochemical principles to investigate cell voltage behavior during electrolysis. By importing polarization curve test data under specific operational conditions, eight undefined parameters are precisely fitted, demonstrating the model’s high accuracy in describing the voltage characteristics of alkaline electrolyzers. Additionally, an AWE system model is introduced to examine the influence of various operational parameters on system efficiency. This innovative approach not only provides detailed insights into the operational dynamics of AWE systems but also offers a valuable tool for optimizing performance and enhancing efficiency, advancing the understanding and optimization of AWE technologies.

In response to climate change challenges and to ensure stable macadamia nut production, this study analyzed empirical data on macadamia nut yield, climate factors, harvesting time, and post-processing quality from 2020 to 2022. Key findings include: (1) During the flowering to fruit growth stage, 2020 had the highest average temperature, followed by 2021, and then 2022. Conversely, 2022 had the highest precipitation, followed by 2021, and then 2020. (2) Lower temperatures and higher precipitation during the flowering to fruit growth stage contributed to a significant increase in macadamia nut yield, which indirectly extended the harvesting time. In 2022, the average yield of the eight macadamia growers was 8.04 t ha−1, significantly higher than the yields of 6.60 t ha−1 and 6.16 t ha−1 in 2021 and 2020, respectively. Furthermore, the average harvesting time for the eight macadamia growers in 2022 was 8.88 days longer than that in 2021, and 12.50 days longer than that in 2020. (3) Temperature and precipitation had a significant impact on the post-processing quality of macadamia nuts. Lower temperature and higher precipitation during the flowering to fruit growth stage significantly increased the proportion of first-grade fruit, as well as the incidence of mildewed and insect-infested fruits. In conclusion, although a lower temperature and higher precipitation can improve macadamia nut yield, they also lead to delayed harvesting and decreased post-processing quality. Given the observed yield sensitivity to temperature and precipitation, targeted water supplementation strategies during peak heat periods emerge as vital. This approach should be integrated with broader climate resilience planning, including the timing of pest control and disease management, to safeguard macadamia nut production against the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change.

Fringe projection profilometry (FPP) is extensively utilized for the 3D measurement of various specimens. However, traditional FPP typically requires at least three phase-shifted fringe patterns to achieve a high-quality phase map. In this study, we introduce a single-shot FPP method based on common path polarization interferometry. In our method, the projected fringe pattern is created through the interference of two orthogonal circularly polarized light beams modulated by a liquid crystal spatial light modulator (LC-SLM). A polarization camera is employed to capture the reflected fringe pattern, enabling the simultaneous acquisition of four-step phase-shifting fringe patterns. The system benefits from advanced anti-vibration capabilities attributable to the common path self-interference optical path design. Furthermore, the utilization of a low-coherence LED light source results in reduced noise levels compared to a laser light source. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method can yield 3D measurement outcomes with high accuracy and efficiency.
