Ab initio relativistic band structure calculation is used for studying spin Hall conductivity (SHC) in Pd and Au metals. The studies have shown that the gigantic spin Hall effect observed in the Au/FePt system is because of the extrinsic mechanisms such as the skew scattering by the impurities in Au.

The electronic structure and magnetism in fayalites M2SiO4 (M=Fe and Co) have been studied by density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation with the on-site Coulomb energy taken into account (GGA+U). Stable insulating antiferromagnetic solutions are obtained. It is found that the gap opening in these fayalites results mainly from strong on-site Coulomb interactions of the magnetic atoms. In the band structures, the conduction bands originate mainly from the M(3d) orbitals of M2SiO4. The top of valence bands consists of the Fe (3d) orbitals in Fe2SiO4, and of the Co(3d)–O(2p) hybridization in Co2SiO4. All calculated orbital magnetic moments are very small. An ab initio study of the static polarizability of the carbon nanotubes within density functional theory in local density and independent-particle approximations has been performed. Full-potential projected augmented wave method was used. Specifically, the static dielectric function #x03B5;(0) and electric polarizability α(0) of a number of the armchair [(3,3),(5,5),(10,10),(15,15),(20,20)], zigzag [(5,0),(10,0),(15,0),(16,0),(20,0)] and chiral [(4,2),(6,2),(6,4),(8,4),(10,5)] carbon nanotubes have been calculated. The underlying atomic structure of the carbon nanotubes was determined theoretically. The calculated static polarizability α(0) for the nanotubes is rather anisotropic with α(0) for electric field parallel to the tube axis (Eǁ&zcirc;) being two to three times larger than that for electric field perpendicular to the tube axis (E⊥&zcirc;). This anisotropy is further enhanced by up to a factor of five when the depolarization effects for E⊥&zcirc; is taken into account by a classical correction. For both electric field polarizations, α(0) is roughly proportional to the square of the tube diameter, suggesting that it is independent of the chirality and the details of the electronic structure of the nanotubes. By applying a variational approximation to the bosonized Hamiltonian, the spin gap in a doped spontaneously dimerized spin chain is investigated analytically based on the tJJ′ model in one dimension in the region of small hole doping and small-J limit. It is found that the spin gap is easily destroyed by hole doping. There is a critical value of the hole density at which the system undergoes a continuous crossover from a frustrated quantum liquid with a spin gap to a Tomonaga–Luttinger liquid without a spin gap. Our results are consistent with that from the exact diagonalization method and can also explain some experimental behaviors in the high-Tc materials. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

We haved calculated the magnetic moments and magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) of the ordered Fe0.5Pd0.5 alloy by using relativistic linear muffin-tin orbital and full-potential linear augmented plane wave methods and also including the orbital polarization correction (OPC) and the generalized gradiant approximation. The OPC substantially increases the Fe orbital moments in the alloy, thereby reducing the discrepancy between the measured and theoretical orbital moments. For all the lattice parameters considered, the [0 0 1] direction is found to be the easy axis, thus showing no spin-reorientation transition as suggested recently. We investigate emergent conductive phenomena triggered by collinear antiferromagnetic orderings. We show that an up-down-zero spin configuration in a triangle cluster leads to linear and nonlinear spin conductivities even without the relativistic spin–orbit coupling; the linear spin conductivity is Drude-type, while the nonlinear spin conductivity has Hall-type characterization. We demonstrate the emergence of both spin conductivities in a breathing kagome system consisting of a triangle cluster. The nonlinear spin conductivity becomes larger than the linear one when the Fermi level lies near the region where a small partial band gap opens. We study the nested topological band-gap structure of one-dimensional (1D) photonic super-lattices. One cell of the super-lattice is composed of two kinds of photonic crystals (PhCs) with different topologies so that there is a domain wall (DW) state at the interface between the two PhCs. We find that the coupling of periodic DWs could form a new band-gap structure inside the original gap. The new band-gap structure could be topologically nontrivial, and a topological phase transition can occur if the structural or material parameters of the PhCs are tuned. Theoretically, we prove that the Hamiltonian of such coupled DWs can be reduced to the simple Su–Schrieffer–Heeger (SSH) model. Then, if two super-lattices carrying different topological phases are attached, a new topological interface state can occur at the interface between the two super-lattices. Finally, we find the nested topological band-gap structure in two-dimensional (2D) photonic super-lattices. Consequently, such nested topological structures can widely exist in complex super-lattices. Our work improves the topological study of photonic super-lattices and provides a new way to realize topological interface states and topological phase transitions in 1D and 2D photonic super-lattices. The extent of the plastic zone is critical in determining the stability and extent of damage to the surrounding rock in tunnels, crucial for designing support structures and thermal insulation layers. This study focuses on understanding how rock thermal stress affects the expansion of the plastic zone in deep-buried tunnels subjected to high geothermal temperatures, based on the derivation of the boundary line formula of the plastic zone in a high geothermal tunnel, and combined with the test results of the hydraulic fracturing method in a high geothermal tunnel of the Bulunkou Hydropower Station in Xinjiang. The findings indicate that thermal stress in the rock mass slows the growth of the plastic zone but significantly increases its extent. However, the influence of thermal stress on the shape and size of the plastic zone is less significant compared to the lateral pressure coefficient. In conditions of high geothermal temperature and geostress, rock mass thermal stress induces substantial changes in the morphology and extent of the plastic zone, which cannot be overlooked and can lead to significant errors if not properly considered. The intricate relationship between the gastrointestinal (GI) microbiome and the progression of chronic non-communicable diseases underscores the significance of developing strategies to modulate the GI microbiota for promoting human health. The administration of probiotics and prebiotics represents a good strategy that enhances the population of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal lumen post-consumption, which has a positive impact on human health. In addition, dietary fibers serve as a significant energy source for bacteria inhabiting the cecum and colon. Research articles and reviews sourced from various global databases were systematically analyzed using specific phrases and keywords to investigate these relationships. There is a clear association between dietary fiber intake and improved colon function, gut motility, and reduced colorectal cancer (CRC) risk. Moreover, the state of health is reflected in the reciprocal and bidirectional relationships among food, dietary antioxidants, inflammation, and body composition. They are known for their antioxidant properties and their ability to inhibit angiogenesis, metastasis, and cell proliferation. Additionally, they promote cell survival, modulate immune and inflammatory responses, and inactivate pro-carcinogens. These actions collectively contribute to their role in cancer prevention. In different investigations, antioxidant supplements containing vitamins have been shown to lower the risk of specific cancer types. In contrast, some evidence suggests that taking antioxidant supplements can increase the risk of developing cancer. Ultimately, collaborative efforts among immunologists, clinicians, nutritionists, and dietitians are imperative for designing well-structured nutritional trials to corroborate the clinical efficacy of dietary therapy in managing inflammation and preventing carcinogenesis. This review seeks to explore the interrelationships among dietary antioxidants, dietary fiber, and the gut microbiome, with a particular focus on their potential implications in inflammation and cancer. Silicon carbide (SiC) electronics has seen a rapid development in industry over the last two decades due to its capabilities in handling high powers and high temperatures while offering a high saturated carrier mobility for power electronics applications. With the increased capacity in producing large-size, single-crystalline SiC wafers, it has recently been attracting attention from academia and industry to exploit SiC for integrated photonics owing to its large bandgap energy, wide transparent window, and moderate second-order optical nonlinearity, which is absent in other centrosymmetric silicon-based material platforms. SiC with various polytypes exhibiting second- and third-order optical nonlinearities are promising for implementing nonlinear and quantum light sources in photonic integrated circuits. By optimizing the fabrication processes of the silicon carbide-on-insulator platforms, researchers have exploited the resulting high-quality-factor microring resonators for various nonlinear frequency conversions and spontaneous parametric down-conversion in photonic integrated circuits. In this paper, we review the fundamentals and applications of SiC-based microring resonators, including the material and optical properties, the device design for nonlinear and quantum light sources, the device fabrication processes, and nascent applications in integrated nonlinear and quantum photonics. This paper introduces a cooperative positioning algorithm for agricultural vehicles, which uses the relative distance of the workshop to improve the performance of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), to improve the positioning accuracy and stability. Firstly, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) fuses the vehicle motion state data with GNSS observation data to improve the independent GNSS positioning accuracy. Subsequently, vehicle state and observation models are formulated using Bayesian theory, incorporating GNSS/UWB data with UWB tag network ranging and with GNSS positioning data among agricultural vehicles and Inter-Vehicular Ranges (IVRs). This integration addresses the significant drift issue in GNSS elevation positioning by employing a high-dimensional decoupling algorithm, standardizing the discrete elevation data, and improving the data's continuity and predictability. A particle filter is used to refine the vehicle's position estimation further. The magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy of CoFe2O4 under uniaxial strain along [0 0 1] direction has been studied by using the linear muffin-tin orbital method within the density functional theory. The calculated uniaxial anisotropy constant Kout is positive for extensive in-plane (0 0 1) strains and is negative for compressive in-plane strains. The positive value of Kout indicates that a CoFe2O4 film under an extensive in-plane strain would show the out-of-plane [0 0 1] magnetization. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The electronic structure, mechanical and magnetic properties of Ni3Al, Ni3Ga and Ni3In have been studied by spin-density functional theory with generalized gradient approximation and also by X-ray absorption near-edge spectra (XANES) at the Ni, Ga K edges. The calculated lattice constants and bulk modulii are in good agreement with experiments. All three compounds have a similar calculated density of states (DOS) spectrum and are predicted to be a weak ferromagnet. The measured Ni(Ga) K-edge XANES are well explained by the theoretical XANES and unoccupied Ni(Ga)-p DOS, suggesting that XANES is a useful probe of the electronic structure of the intermetallics. Waterlogging stress causes substantial destruction to plant growth and production under climatic fluctuations globally. Plants hormones have been widely explored in numerous crops, displaying an imperative role in crop defense and growth mechanism. However, there is a paucity of research on the subject of plant hormones regulating waterlogging stress responses in wheat crop. In this study, we clarified the role of 6-BA in waterlogging stress through inducing phenylpropanoid biosynthesis in wheat. The application of 6-BA (6-benzyladenine) enhanced the growth and development of wheat plants under waterlogging stress, which was accompanied by reduced electrolyte leakage, high chlorophyll, and soluble sugar content. ROS scavenging was also enhanced by 6-BA, resulting in reduced MDA and H2O2 accumulation and amplified antioxidant enzyme activities. Additionally, under the effect of 6-BA, the acceleration of lignin content and accumulation in the cell walls of wheat tissues, along with the activation of PAL (phenylalanine ammonia lyase), TAL (tyrosine ammonia lyase), and 4CL (4-hydroxycinnamate CoA ligase) activities and the increase in the level of transcription of the TaPAL and Ta4CL genes, were observed under waterlogging stress. Also, 6-BA improved the root growth system under waterlogging stress conditions. Further qPCR analysis revealed increased auxin signaling (TaPR1) in 6-BA-treated plants under waterlogging stress that was consistent with the induction of endogenous IAA hormone content under waterlogging stress conditions. Here, 6-BA also reduced yield loss, as compared to control plants. Thus, the obtained data suggested that, under the application of 6-BA, phenylpropanoid metabolism (i.e., lignin) was stimulated, playing a significant role in reducing the negative effects of waterlogging stress on yield, as evinced by the improved plant growth parameters. Biofilm-associated infections pose a significant challenge in healthcare, constituting 80% of bacterial infections and often leading to persistent, chronic conditions. Conventional antibiotics struggle with efficacy against these infections due to the high tolerance and resistance induced by bacterial biofilm barriers. Two-dimensional nanomaterials, such as those from the graphene family, boron nitride, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), MXene, and black phosphorus, hold immense potential for combating biofilms. These nanomaterial-based antimicrobial strategies are novel tools that show promise in overcoming resistant bacteria and stubborn biofilms, with the ability to circumvent existing drug resistance mechanisms. This review comprehensively summarizes recent developments in two-dimensional nanomaterials, as both therapeutics and nanocarriers for precision antibiotic delivery, with a specific focus on nanoplatforms coupled with photothermal/photodynamic therapy in the elimination of bacteria and penetrating and/or ablating biofilm. This review offers important insight into recent advances and current limitations of current antibacterial nanotherapeutic approaches, together with a discussion on future developments in the field, for the overall benefit of public health. A plethora of antiferromagnetic structures have been so far found in condensed matter physics, where the antiferromagnetic phase transition is characterized by symmetry lowering under the magnetic point group. Depending on the types of symmetry lowering, various cross-correlation phenomena, such as the anomalous Hall effect, magneto-electric effect, and magneto-piezoelectric effect, emerge below the critical temperature. We revisit a close relationship between the symmetry of the antiferromagnetic structures and cross-correlations based on the augmented multipoles consisting of electric, magnetic, magnetic toroidal, and electric toroidal multipoles with different spatial inversion and time-reversal parities. Gastric cancer (GC) still represents one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality and is a major public health issue worldwide. Understanding the etiopathogenetic mechanisms behind GC development holds immense potential to revolutionize patients' treatment and prognosis. Within the complex web of genetic predispositions and environmental factors, the connection between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and gastric microbiota emerges as a focus of intense research investigation. According to the most recent hypotheses, H. pylori triggers inflammatory responses and molecular alterations in gastric mucosa, while non-Helicobacter microbiota modulates disease progression. In this review, we analyze the current state of the literature on the relationship between H. pylori and non-Helicobacter gastric microbiota in gastric carcinogenesis, highlighting the mechanisms by which microecological dysbiosis can contribute to the malignant transformation of the mucosa. Selenium is an important indicator for the evaluation of tea quality. However, the relationship between selenium uptake by tea plants (Camellia sinensis) and soil properties, as well as selenium transport and distribution in a tea plantation soil–tea plant–tea infusion production system, remain unclear. In this study, 12 tea plantations situated in a typical selenium-rich area of China were selected, and the characteristics and crucial factors influencing the uptake and transport of selenium were analyzed using a plantation soil–tea plant–tea infusion production system. The soil total selenium content ranged from 1.12 to 6.67 mg kg−1, with an average of 2.57 mg kg−1. The average available selenium content was 53.56 µg kg−1, and the activation rate of soil selenium was 2.27%. Soil-available selenium was significantly positively correlated with total selenium, available potassium, and soil organic matter contents, and was significantly negatively correlated with soil pH. The selenium content in old leaves ranged from 0.29 to 2.73 mg kg−1, which met the standard for selenium-rich tea, whereas only 33% of young leaves met this standard. The selenium enrichment factor was highest in the fibrous root and lowest in the young leaves. The average selenium transport factors from fibrous roots to main roots, from main roots to main stems, from main stems to lateral stems, from lateral stems to young leaves, and from lateral stems to old leaves were 0.53, 0.92, 0.67, 0.97, and 2.30, respectively. The selenium concentration of tea infusion ranged from 1.88 to 12.49 μg L−1, and the average selenium dissolution rate was 22.62% after one brewing. This study identified critical factors that influence soil-selenium availability. Background/Objectives: The hypercoagulable state associated with COVID-19 infection is associated with adverse outcomes and mortality. Studies have also demonstrated high rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) events among patients with sepsis. We aimed to evaluate how the increase in thrombotic events in critically ill patients with COVID-19 infection compares to that of critically ill patients with non-COVID-19 sepsis. Methods: A chart review was performed of patients 18 years or older admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Tampa General Hospital between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2020 diagnosed with COVID-19 or sepsis secondary to other pathogens. Non-COVID-19 sepsis patients and COVID-19 patients were propensity-matched 3:1 on the Charlson Comorbidity Index. Multivariate analyses adjusting for confounding were conducted to report odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) of predictors for thrombotic events and overall mortality. Results: After propensity score matching, 492 sepsis patients and 164 COVID-19 patients were included in the analysis. COVID-19 patients were significantly older (p = 0.021) and showed higher BMI (p < 0.001) than sepsis patients. COVID-19 patients did not show significantly higher odds of thrombosis after adjustment for confounders (OR 0.85, 95% CI 0.42–1.72), but had significantly lower odds of mortality than sepsis patients (OR 0.33, 95% CI 0.16–0.66). Conclusions: Our results suggest that further study is required to lower the rate of VTE in COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 sepsis patients admitted to the ICU; it is also reasonable to consider similar thromboembolism practices between these two patient groups. Longjing tea is favored by consumers due to its refreshing and delicate aroma, as well as its fresh and sweet flavor. In order to study the processing technology of Longjing tea with 'Baiye 1' tea varieties, solid phase microextraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry were used to analyze the volatile components of Longjing tea in different process stages. The results revealed the identification of 275 aroma metabolites in the processing samples of Longjing tea. The sensory evaluation and principal component analysis revealed that the leaves of fresh (XY) and spreading (TF) were different from the leaves of first panning (YQ), second panning (EQ), final panning (HG), and fragrance enhancing (TX). The relative contents of geraniol (1199.95 and 1134.51), linalool (745.93 and 793.98), methyl salicylate (485.22 and 314.67), phenylethyl alcohol (280.14 and 393.98), 2-methylfuran (872.28 and 517.96), 2-butenal (56.01 and 154.60), and 2-hexenal (46.22 and 42.24), refreshing and floral substances in the XY and TF stages, were higher than other stages. The aroma contents of 2-methylfuran, furfural, 2-methyl-1-penten-3-one, 3-hexen-2-one, dodecane, hexanoyl hexanoate, 2,5-dimethyl-pyrazine, and methyl-pyrazine were found to be significantly positively correlated with the intensity of chestnut aroma. In conclusion, this study contributes to a better understanding of the composition and formation mechanism of chestnut-like aroma and provides new insights into the processing technology to improve the quality of albino green tea. Salt stress has a detrimental impact on food crop production, with its severity escalating due to both natural and man-made factors. As one of the most important food crops, wheat is susceptible to salt stress, resulting in abnormal plant growth and reduced yields; therefore, damage from salt stress should be of great concern. Additionally, the utilization of land in coastal areas warrants increased attention, given diminishing supplies of fresh water and arable land, and the escalating demand for wheat. A comprehensive understanding of the physiological and molecular changes in wheat under salt stress can offer insights into mitigating the adverse effects of salt stress on wheat. In this review, we summarized the genes and molecular mechanisms involved in ion transport, signal transduction, and enzyme and hormone regulation, in response to salt stress based on the physiological processes in wheat. Then, we surveyed the latest progress in improving the salt tolerance of wheat through breeding, exogenous applications, and microbial pathways. Breeding efficiency can be improved through a combination of gene editing and multiple omics techniques, which is the fundamental strategy for dealing with salt stress. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is an increasingly prevalent condition characterized by abnormal fat accumulation in the liver, often associated with metabolic disorders. Emerging evidence suggests a potential link between vitamin D deficiency and the development and progression of MASLD. The current review provides a concise overview of recent studies uncovering novel mechanistic insights into the interplay between vitamin D and MASLD. Several epidemiological studies have highlighted a significant association between low vitamin D levels and an increased risk of MASLD. Vitamin D, traditionally known for its role in bone health, has now been recognized as a key player in various physiological processes, including immune regulation and inflammation. Experimental studies using animal models have demonstrated that vitamin D deficiency exacerbates liver steatosis and inflammation, suggesting a potential protective role against MASLD. Mechanistically, vitamin D appears to modulate MASLD through multiple pathways. Firstly, the vitamin D receptor (VDR) is abundantly expressed in liver cells, indicating a direct regulatory role in hepatic function. Activation of the VDR has been shown to suppress hepatic lipid accumulation and inflammation, providing a mechanistic basis for the observed protective effects. Additionally, vitamin D influences insulin sensitivity, a critical factor in MASLD pathogenesis. Improved insulin sensitivity may mitigate the excessive accumulation of fat in the liver, thus attenuating MASLD progression. In parallel, vitamin D exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines implicated in MASLD pathophysiology. Experimental evidence suggests that the immunomodulatory effects of vitamin D extend to the liver, reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, key drivers of MASLD, and the likelihood of hepatocyte injury and fibrosis. Understanding the complex interplay between vitamin D and MASLD provides a basis for exploring targeted therapeutic strategies and preventive interventions. As vitamin D deficiency is a modifiable risk factor, addressing this nutritional concern may prove beneficial in mitigating the burden of MASLD and associated metabolic disorders. Tetragonal ZrO2, synthesized by the sol–gel method and dip-coating technique, was found to be photocatalytically active for the degradation of methylene blue. The ZrO2 thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV-vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was carried out with this material. We identified the tetragonal phase in ZrO2 thin film at different annealing temperatures from 400 °C to 550 °C. The XRD study indicated that the films were monocrystalline in nature with preferred grain orientation along (011) plane and exhibited a tetragonal crystal structure. The crystallite size of the films increased with increasing annealing temperature. FTIR explained the bonding nature and confirmed the formation of the composite. UV-Vis showed the optical absorbance was high in the visible region and the optical band gap value increased with annealing temperature. The photocatalytic experimental results revealed that ZrO2 thin films degraded MB by 20%, 24%, 29%, and 36%, with annealing temperatures of 400 °C at 550 °C for 10 h, respectively. This study investigates the dynamics of moisture absorption and swelling in soft rock during tunnel excavation, emphasizing the response to support resistance. Utilizing COMSOL numerical simulations, we conduct a comparative analysis of various strength criteria and non-associated flow rules. The results demonstrate that the Mohr–Coulomb criterion combined with the Drucker–Prager model under compressive loads imposes stricter limitations on water absorption and expansion than when paired with the Drucker–Prager model under tensile loads. Restricted rock expansion leads to decreased horizontal displacement and ground uplift, increased displacement in the tunnel's bottom arch, and significantly reduced displacement in the top arch. The study also considers the effects of shear dilation, burial depth, and support resistance on the stress and displacement of the surrounding rock. Increased shear dilation angles correlate with greater rock expansion, resulting in increased horizontal displacement and ground uplift. The research study concludes that support resistance is critical in limiting the movement of the tunnel's bottom arch and impacting the stability of the surrounding rock. Additionally, the extent of rock damage during the excavation of expansive soft rock tunnels is found to be minimal. Anthocyanins, a subclass of flavonoids known for their vibrant colors and health-promoting properties, are pivotal in the nutritional science and food industry. This review article delves into the analytical methodologies for anthocyanin detection and quantification in food matrices, comparing quantitative and topical techniques. Quantitative methods, including High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS), offer precise quantification and profiling of individual anthocyanins but require sample destruction, limiting their use in continuous quality control. Topical approaches, such as Near-infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) and hyperspectral imaging, provide rapid, in situ analysis without compromising sample integrity, ideal for on-site food quality assessment. The review highlights the advancements in chromatographic techniques, particularly Ultra-high-performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) coupled with modern detectors, enhancing resolution and speed in anthocyanin analysis. It also emphasizes the growing importance of topical techniques in the food industry for their efficiency and minimal sample preparation. Columnar phases consisting of a group of carbon toroidal molecules (C120, C192, C252, C288) are studied numerically. Each nanotorus was previously doped with an iron atom. This made it possible to use an external magnetic field as a tool for influencing both an individual molecule and a linear fragment of the columnar phase. A high-precision scheme for calculating the dynamics of large molecules with a rigid frame structure is proposed to solve the problem. The group dynamics of nanotori clusters under the influence of an external magnetic field has been studied using classical molecular dynamics methods. The influence of the molecular cluster size, temperature, magnetic moment of the molecule, and magnetic field direction on the collective behavior of iron-doped toroidal molecules with different contents of carbon atoms is analyzed. Molecular dynamics calculations showed that systems of nanotori doped with a single iron atom retain a columnar structure both in the absence and in the presence of an external magnetic field. The columnar fragment behaves as a stable linear association of molecules even at sufficiently high values of magnetic induction, performing a coordinated collective orbital rotation around a common center of mass on a nanosecond time scale. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is a prevalent global health issue, associated with several gastrointestinal disorders, including gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer. The landscape of H. pylori treatment has evolved over the years, with increasing challenges due to antibiotic resistance and treatment failure. Traditional diagnostic methods, such as the urea breath test, stool antigen test, and endoscopy with biopsy, are commonly used in clinical practice. However, the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains has led to a decline in treatment efficacy, necessitating a re-evaluation of common diagnostic tools. This narrative review aims to explore the possible changes in the diagnostic approach of H. pylori infection in the era of treatment failure. Molecular techniques, including polymerase chain reaction and whole genome sequencing, which have high sensitivity and specificity, allow the detection of genes associated with antibiotic resistance. On the other hand, culture isolation and a phenotypic antibiogram could be used in the diagnostic routine, although H. pylori is a fastidious bacterium. However, new molecular approaches are promising tools for detecting the pathogen and its resistance genes. In this regard, more real-life studies are needed to reveal new diagnostic tools suitable for identifying multidrug-resistant H. pylori strains and for outlining proper treatment. As an essential element for plants, animals, and humans, selenium (Se) has been shown to participate in microbial methane oxidation. We studied the growth response and rhizosphere methane oxidation of an economic crop (prickly pear, Rosa roxburghii Tratt) through three treatments (Se0.6 mg/kg, Se2.0 mg/kg, and Se10 mg/kg) and a control (Se0 mg/kg) in a two-month pot experiment. The results showed that the height, total biomass, root biomass, and leaf biomass of prickly pear were significantly increased in the Se0.6 and Se2.0 treatments. The root-to-shoot ratio of prickly pear reached a maximum value in the Se2 treatment. The leaf carotenoid contents significantly increased in the three treatments. Antioxidant activities significantly increased in the Se0.6 and Se2 treatments. Low Se contents (0.6, 2 mg/kg) promoted root growth, including dry weight, length, surface area, volume, and root activity. There was a significant linear relationship between root and aboveground Se contents. The Se translocation factor increased as the soil Se content increased, ranging from 0.173 to 0.288. The application of Se can improve the state of rhizosphere soil's organic C and soil nutrients (N, P, and K). Se significantly promoted the methane oxidation rate in rhizosphere soils, and the Se10 treatment showed the highest methane oxidation rate. The soil Se gradients led to differentiation in the growth, rhizosphere soil properties, and methane oxidation capacity of prickly pear. The root Se content and Se translocation factor were significantly positively correlated with the methane oxidation rate. Prickly pear can accumulate Se when grown in Se-enriched soil. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is widely used for its high accuracy, wide coverage, and strong real-time performance. However, limited by the navigation signal mechanism, satellite signals in urban canyons, bridges, tunnels, and other environments are seriously affected by non-line-of-sight and multipath effects, which greatly reduce positioning accuracy and positioning continuity. In order to meet the positioning requirements of human and vehicle navigation in complex environments, it was necessary to carry out this research on the integration of multiple signal sources. The Fifth Generation (5G) signal possesses key attributes, such as low latency, high bandwidth, and substantial capacity. Simultaneously, 5G Base Stations (BSs), serving as a fundamental mobile communication infrastructure, extend their coverage into areas traditionally challenging for GNSS technology, including indoor environments, tunnels, and urban canyons. Based on the actual needs, this paper proposes a system algorithm based on 5G and GNSS joint positioning, aiming at the situation that the User Equipment (UE) only establishes the connection with the 5G base station with the strongest signal. Considering the inherent nonlinear problem of user position and angle measurements in 5G observation, an angle cosine solution is proposed. Furthermore, enhancements to the Sage–Husa Adaptive Kalman Filter (SHAKF) algorithm are introduced to tackle issues related to observation weight distribution and adaptive updates of observation noise in multi-system joint positioning, particularly when there is a lack of prior information. This paper also introduces dual gross error detection adaptive correction of the forgetting factor based on innovation in the iterative Kalman filter to enhance accuracy and robustness. Finally, a series of simulation experiments and semi-physical experiments were conducted. The numerical results show that compared with the traditional method, the angle cosine method reduces the average number of iterations from 9.17 to 3 with higher accuracy, which greatly improves the efficiency of the algorithm. Meanwhile, compared with the standard Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), the proposed algorithm improved 48.66 % , 35.17 % , and 38.23 % at 1 σ / 2 σ / 3 σ , respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Behavioral recognition is an important technique for recognizing actions by analyzing human behavior. It is used in various fields, such as anomaly detection and health estimation. For this purpose, deep learning models are used to recognize and classify the features and patterns of each behavior. However, video-based behavior recognition models require a lot of computational power as they are trained using large datasets. Therefore, there is a need for a lightweight learning framework that can efficiently recognize various behaviors. In this paper, we propose a group-based lightweight human behavior recognition framework (GLBRF) that achieves both low computational burden and high accuracy in video-based behavior recognition. The GLBRF system utilizes a relatively small dataset to reduce computational cost using a 2D CNN model and improves behavior recognition accuracy by applying location-based grouping to recognize interaction behaviors between people. This enables efficient recognition of multiple behaviors in various services. With grouping, the accuracy was as high as 98%, while without grouping, the accuracy was relatively low at 68%.
