This document constitutes a scientific research article, product of the doctoral thesis project for the International Iberoamerican University, on which the adaptability of family businesses in Bogotá Colombia to new markets is evaluated and studied precisely, in direct relation to the limitations or strengths offered by the existing legislation on the matter, this with the ultimate aim of fostering spaces for reflection and improvement strategies in the processes of strategic change management of the companies studied. The model used is of a mixed, paradigmatic and disciplinary nature, within the method of participation action research. The identification of these favorable or unfavorable elements for the companies in terms of change management offers a broader vision of the characteristics of family companies, lays the basis of their social and economic significance; This process also establishes the essential needs for the professionalization of human capital and favorable strategies for the consolidation of strategic management processes and measurement of financial goals for small and medium-sized companies. This paper presents Change Management as the tool that helped minimize the resistance of the employees in the finance area of a multinational enterprise to the implementation of a Shared Services Center (SSC) in Latin America. It was found that in 16 countries in the region, the leaders and their respective teams were immersed in the process of migrating financial transactions to a subcontracted SSC. The challenge was to facilitate the implementation of this project by minimizing the risks of not achieving success by means of using the Action- Research method. After analyzing the types of resistance to overcome, the team developed a change management plan in order to obtain the support and commitment that is required from the leaders, involving employees to retain knowledge without affecting the deadlines for the implementation of the project. The individual commitment of the majority of directly involved employees was reached by treating them transparently, openly, and frankly, a fact that contributed to the success of the project. Therefore, it was possible for the team to identify and adequately address many risks that, if not resolved properly, could have delayed the implementation of the project or even jeopardize the activities in the different business units of the multinational in Latin America. The execution worked on the resistance, empowered local leaders as change agents, clarified the doubts of the employees, and ensured the closure of the project on time, within the conditions that were planned and without affecting the business. Design changes by owners are common to many construction projects and can cause severe delays if owners do not consider that a change in one part of the project may cause a series of changes in other parts of that project. The impact of a changed component on other unchanged components is known as the 'change ripple effect'. To efficiently manage design changes, the ripple effect should be quantified and impact evaluated. This paper presents a building information modeling (BIM)-based quantification model to quantify the ripple effect of owner-requested design changes. The developed model calculates the impact of design changes and their ripple effect on a project's total duration. After analyzing the ripple effect over time, the model updates the project schedule accordingly. Résumé Cette contribution présente la problématique, le cadre théorique et méthodologique d’un projet de maîtrise en cours. Ce projet s’intéresse aux facteurs qui influencent l’ouverture d’une école publique alternative au Québec du point de vue des groupes de parents qui œuvrent à leur ouverture. Les niveaux de résistance institutionnelle au changement selon Bareil (2004) et les facteurs favorisants l’innovation sociale selon la théorie de la gouvernance réflexive (Maesschalck, 2001; Brabant, 2009) constituent les bases théoriques choisies pour répondre à la question générale « Quelles sont les perceptions des parents œuvrant à l’ouverture d’une école publique alternative quant aux facteurs qui favorisent ou contraignent leur ouverture? ». Abstract This contribution provides a theoretical framework and methodology for a research project focused on the various factors that influence the opening of an alternative public school in Quebec from the perspective of parents' groups working to open them. We will present the levels of institutional resistance to change according to Bareil (2004) and the factors that promote and support social innovation according to the reflexive governance theory (Maesschalck, 2001; Brabant, 2009). This research project will pursue the following thematic question "What are the perceptions of parents pursuing the opening of an alternative public school concerning factors that promote or constrain their opening?"

Organizations tend to create and hold routines that make their work predictable. Changes in organizations often introduce unexpected effects, increasing uncertainty and operational casuistry, affecting people and their activity. The literature on organizational change favors the analysis of factors underlying the change processes, including the role of purposive activity of members of the organization (agency), however, it shortly adresses the effects these changes generate about the specific activity of organizational change. The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in its Vision 2020 statement identified sustainability in infrastructure as a core element for the civil engineering profession. However, what is sustainable infrastructure and more importantly, how can it be assessed? This paper uses stormwater infrastructure as its primary example to explore these issues, reviews issues with stormwater infrastructure in Canada, and critically examines current sustainability assessment methods. Two groups of problems are identified. The first group concerns issues related to economic, institutions, population growth, ecological, and health and safety. The second group examines the uncertainties in impact prediction associated with climate change effects as well as health impacts on the user. Sustainability evaluation methods (ranking, sustainability indicators, footprint, metabolism, extended metabolism, life cycle assessment), performance assessment tools, infrastructure report card, and the public infrastructure engineering vulnerability committee protocol for climate change assessment are then reviewed. Current methods of assessing infrastructure mostly focus on the functional aspects of the system with resource use reduction as the primary objective. However, they do not explicitly concentrate on resiliency and long-term sustainability, nor do they consider the associated health implications and change management capabilities for long-term sustainability. Change orders are ubiquitous in construction projects, and effective and efficient control of changes is critical to project success. There have been many empirical suggestions as to how to manage changes for best project outcomes, but this research is specifically aimed at exploring the relationship between project characteristics and the implementation of project change management best practices (PCMBP). Construction project data for this research are derived from the Construction Industry Institute (CII) benchmarking and metrics (BM&M) database. Binary logistic regressions and factorial analysis of variance (ANOVA) are performed to find out the differences among diverse types of projects in terms of the extents to which the PCMBP elements have been implemented. The findings can assist construction industry practitioners with using PCMBP more purposefully in accordance with specific project characteristics so that they will be better able to develop and administer their project execution plans. Contexte, problématique et objectif: L'intégration curriculaire de la simulation médicale est souvent négligée, bien qu'essentielle à son efficacité (Issenberg, 2006). Le Cambodge connaît un essor récent en éducation médicale, fort de sa croissance économique et de ses coopérations internationales. L'objectif de cette communication est de partager l'expérience de l'université des Sciences de Santé (University of Health Sciences, UHS) suite à l'intégration de la simulation dans son curriculum médical pré-gradué. Résultats: - 2012: comparaison de curricula Le processus d'intégration de la simulation a débuté par la comparaison internationale de curricula. Au Vietnam voisin, par exemple, étaient notés l'apprentissage et l'évaluation des compétences d'examen clinique en laboratoire (« clinical skills lab ») depuis 2002 (Tran et al., 2014). La comparaison avec la France révélait des différences importantes d'horaires de cours de sémiologie. -2013-2016: réforme pilote La réforme a pris la forme d'un projet pilote, le Programme International (PI). Ce programme trilingue (khmer, français, anglais) vise à adapter au Cambodge des innovations pédagogiques, et à former les jeunes formateurs cambodgiens en éducation médicale. Une liste d'objectifs de compétences cliniques a été adaptée (AAMC, 2005). Des séances de 180 minutes ont été testées, intégrant 3 compétences (ex: interrogatoire, examen physique, interprétation de résultats d'investigations) dans un scénario clinique. Suite à la démonstration en classe, la promotion de PI de 60 étudiants est divisée en 3 groupes de 20, effectuant une rotation (3 stations de 45 minutes). Le groupe de 20 est divisé en 5 équipes de 4 (1 étudiant jouant le malade, 1 le médecin, et 2 évaluant avec une check-list et donnant un feedback) et supervisée par un moniteur clinique. - 2017: situation actuelle et perspectives L'UHS a développé les ressources pédagogiques (objectifs, scénarios, check-lists) appropriées à l'apprentissage et à l'évaluation des compétences cliniques de ses étudiants pré-gradués. Le volume horaire de cours magistraux de sémiologie a été réduit de 50 %. Soixante moniteurs cliniques ont été formés et délivrent 15 séances par an. Un laboratoire de compétences cliniques et simulation a été aménagé et équipé. L'enjeu actuel est la finalisation de l'extension du programme pilote à l'ensemble des étudiants (350 étudiants par promotion), reportée à la rentrée 2017/18 pour des contraintes logistiques. Les autres perspectives incluent la formation de patients standardisés, la mise en place d'ECOS informatisés, et l'évaluation de la qualité psychométrique des check-lists. Conclusion: Le processus en cours au Cambodge peut être utile à d'autres pays visant une meilleure intégration curriculaire de la simulation en formation médicale pré-graduée. Les facteurs-clé de succès du changement sont l'adoption d'une approche par compétences et le leadership de « champions » locaux. Les défis principaux sont l'augmentation des effectifs d'étudiants et le changement de culture pédagogique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
