A 25-year-old intensive monoculture of cucumber (Cucumis sativus ‘Monolit F1’) has been chosen for monitoring the effect of continuous fertilization, drip irrigation and various soil disinfection on free-living nematodes in soil. Densities, relative abundance of nematode genera, trophic groups and c-p classes, in addition, numerous nematological indices were determined besides certain soil properties. Concerning the nematological indices, all the values proved a stressed, depleted and unstable environment with degraded food web condition. The exaggerated application of fertilizers through irrigation caused high salinity values (0.62 %) which is much higher than the indicated toxicity threshold (0.4 %) for cultivated plants. The number of individuals of the bacterivore Acrobeloides and Cuticularia genera, which have a very high stress tolerance, was outstanding in the area. Besides juveniles, the appearance of Meloidogyne incognita males was also recorded which could lead to a change in the genetic composition of the population to adapt to environmental stressors. All these changes may result from salt stress indicated by intensive drip irrigation and the use of artificial fertilizers.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has become a transformative force in various healthcare applications, providing integrated services for daily life. The app healthcare based on the IIoT framework is broadly used to remotely monitor clients health using advanced biomedical sensors with wireless technologies, managing activities such as monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, and vital signs. Despite its widespread use, IIoT in healthcare faces challenges such as security concerns, inefficient work scheduling, and associated costs. To address these issues, this paper proposes and evaluates the Blockchain-Based Deep Reinforcement Learning System for Optimizing Healthcare (BDRL) framework. BDRL aims to enhance security protocols and maximize makespan efficiency in scheduling medical applications. It facilitates the sharing of legitimate and secure data among linked network nodes beyond the initial stages of data validation and assignment. This study presents the design, implementation, and statistical evaluation of BDRL using a new dataset and varying platform resources. The evaluation shows that BDRL is versatile and successfully addresses the security, privacy, and makespan needs of healthcare applications on distributed networks, while also delivering excellent performance. In the beginning of the 20th century the food consumption levels were much lower than later in the century, when food production increased as well. The selection of foodstuffs became wider and we can observe the modernisation of nutrition principles too, which both had a positive impact on consumption. The variety of food was also affected by the increasing life expectancy. The emergence of more modern ways in food consumption is halted not only by the traditions but by the fact that healthier foods are more expensive than fat or cereal prices. There is a significant correlation between the income levels and the quality of consumed food, as it can be observed that in different regions in Hungary. My aim was also to investigate the change in consumer behaviour in parallel with the increase of income levels; to see which sort of foods are preferred by the wealthier, and which are preferred by the ones with less income. It is also important to analyse the economic and social indicators on regional and other spatial levels and to compare them with food consumption. The annual net income per capita is usually higher in more developed regions than in the less developed ones. Therefore, the expenditure spent on better quality and more expensive food products is also higher. Similarly, in the case of the population there are differences in consumer habits according to purchasing power. For instance, for people with higher income one of the most important factors is to buy healthy and high quality food, but for the ones with lower income it can be a struggle only to find food in sufficient quantities, and quality cannot be as much of an issue. In the consumer basket, foodstuff accounts for approximately one-third of the overall expenditure. In this study I analysed the annual expenditure of Hungary’s population on foodstuffs and the annual quantity of food consumed by households per capita on a regional level between 2010 and 2013.

It is a general socio-political objective of the mid- and long term food industry development strategy of Hungary to promote healthy food production and consumption. The realization of the strategy of the domestic food industry increasingly promotes healthy eating, for example consuming natural, domestic, fresh ingredients, prepared foods, in order to improve the overall health of the population (EFS, 2014-2020). Our study presents the regional tendencies of staple food consumption in Hungarian regions and the changes in indicators reflecting the health status of the population. Furthermore, our hypothesis states that there is a statistically provable correlation between the annual food consumption of Hungarian households per capita and the health status, on regional level.

The acquisition and evaluation of acoustic emissions (AE) in tribology have proven to be a meaningful tool for condition monitoring and offer possibilities to deepen the understanding of tribological processes. The authors used this technology with the aim of expanding existing test methodologies towards increased visualization capability of tribological processes and investigated the correlation between tribological processes and acoustic emissions on a Ring-on-Disc and a close-to-component journal bearing test setting. The results of this study include the description of friction as well as wear processes and prove the usability of several AE evaluation parameters whereby a close correlation between AE and tribological processes can be shown. Consequently, it was possible to expand the visualization and evaluation capabilities of the test settings offering additional insights by making use of AE.

Thanks to their widespread usage, mobile devices have become one of the main sensors of human behaviour and digital traces left behind can be used as a proxy to study urban environments. Exploring the nature of the spatio-temporal patterns of mobile phone activity could thus be a crucial step towards understanding the full spectrum of human activities. Using 10 months of mobile phone records from Greater London resolved in both space and time, we investigate the regularity of human telecommunication activity on urban scales. We evaluate several options for decomposing activity timelines into typical and residual patterns, accounting for the strong periodic and seasonal components. We carry out our analysis on various spatial scales, showing that regularity increases as we look at aggregated activity in larger spatial units with more activity in them. We examine the statistical properties of the residuals and show that it can be explained by noise and specific outliers. Also, we look at sources of deviations from the general trends, which we find to be explainable based on knowledge of the city structure and places of attractions. We show examples how some of the outliers can be related to external factors such as specific social events.

The concept of two-disc model testing has proven to deliver valuable information for the applicability of new technologies, such as surface structuring, coatings, alternative fluids, or advanced materials, in actual machine elements. In this article an advanced two-disc machine with sophisticated control technology for dry and lubricated setup is presented. (i) All involved components are controlled via a powerful PLC unit leading to the possibility of realising extremely accurate SRRs down to 0.1%. (ii) High-speed data acquisition allows local insight into tribological phenomena by providing 72 data points along one shaft rotation. (iii) Several lubrication scenarios such as fluid, mixed, and starved lubrication, as well as dry contacts, can be considered. (iv) Raw-data of all sensors, including normal force, friction force, vibration speed, stiffness (wear), infrared temperature, contact potential, and motor speed, is presented. Some example results of dry polymer-steel tribosystems and lubricated experiments are shown to elucidate the capabilities of the novel test rig.

Fungal entomopathogens are gaining increasing attention as alternatives to chemical control of arthropod pests, and the literature on their use under different conditions and against different species keeps expanding. Our review compiles information regarding the entomopathogenic fungal species Metarhizium flavoviride (Gams and Rozsypal 1956) (Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae) and gives account of the natural occurrences and target arthropods that can be controlled using M. flavoviride. Taxonomic problems around M. flavoviride species sensu lato are explained. Bioassays, laboratory and field studies examining the effect of fermentation, culture regimes and formulation are compiled along with studies on the effect of the fungus on target and non-target organisms and presenting the effect of management practices on the use of the fungus. Altogether, we provide information to help conducting basic studies, and by pointing out relatively uncharted territories, help to set new research areas.
