INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and major cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The importance of usage positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) in oncology is increasing. In our study, we planned to investigate the relationship between 18 F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18 F-FDG) uptake and characteristics of the tumor. METHODS: The medical records of 414 patients who applied to our oncology clinic with the diagnosis of breast cancer and underwent PET/CT were analyzed retrospectively. Patients with breast cancer aged between 18-90 years were included in the study. Patients with secondary malignancy, mentally unstable, younger than 18 years of age and older than 90 years of age were excluded from the study. FDG uptake was investigated according to molecular subtypes, tumor sizes, body mass index and proliferation indices. RESULTS: The mean age of 414 patients included in the study was 48.8 years. The vast majority of patients had invasive ductal carcinoma. While 86 patients were in the metastatic stage at the time of diagnosis, 327 patients had local or locally advanced disease.
