This article presents a contact-less system to detect the heartbeat activity from a distance of 1 m. The proposed system is based on using a vector network analyzer. Measurements are performed at 16 GHz for different power levels between 0 and −25 dBm. Results for two S-parameters are obtained and compared to an electrocardiogram simultaneous signal in terms of heartbeat rate and heart rate variability. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract: This article deals with several aspects relative to the MIMO propagation channel. Based on simulations and/or measurements, different approaches are used to model the propagation channel. These models are useful for the MIMO system design. Several studies are performed in order to realize realistic simulation of MIMO channel. Different measurement techniques are used in characterizing the propagation channel in various environments. Measurement campaigns made in different situations have been analyzed to obtain the relevant statistical parameters of the channel. Simulation of MIMO channel is then presented. Measurement and simulation results provide an evaluation of the capacity of MIMO channel. Obtained results show feasibility in the integration of MIMO techniques in practical wireless communication systems. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

A new application for the high-resolution processing algorithm MUSIC, applied to a rotating antenna, is presented. Experimental results show that significant improvement can be achieved using the proposed method, compared to a low-directivity rotating antenna. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
