Introduction: There is high evidence that chronic exercise benefits overall depression severity in older adults. However, late-life depression is characterized by considerable heterogeneity in clinical manifestation emphasizing the need for more individualized exercise intervention programs. Therefore, the objective of the proposed review is to investigate the effects of chronic exercise on overall depression severity and on different symptoms of depression in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including older adults with a mean age of at least 60 years, and by considering the moderating effects of intervention characteristics and individual characteristics. Methods: This protocol is guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P). We will use the Population-Intervention-Comparator-Outcomes-Study design (PICOS) criteria for study inclusion and will search the following database sources for relevant RCTs: Web of Science, Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, APA Psycinfo, SPORTDiscuss, Cochrane. Two independent reviewers will conduct the study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment. Disagreement will be solved by a third reviewer. Primary outcome will be changes in overall depression severity and secondary outcomes will encompass changes in symptoms of depression as defined by the DSM-5, such as sleep quality, fatigue, anxiety, mood, apathy, changes in weight, information processing speed, and executive functions, from baseline until the end of the intervention and to any available intermediary measurement or follow up. Meta-analysis will be undertaken to synthesize the effects of chronic exercise on primary and secondary outcomes. Subgroup analysis will investigate the moderating effects of intervention characteristics (frequency, intensity, duration, type of exercise, cognitive demand, social interactions, exercise supervision, behavioral change techniques, compliance, study design, dropout-rate, type of control group) and individual characteristics (age, sex, education, functional capacity, global cognition, population) on primary and secondary outcomes. Additionally, we plan to assess quality of evidence and publication bias, and to carry out sensitivity analysis. Conclusion: The results of the proposed review are anticipated to have a substantial impact on research and clinical practice. On the one hand, the review's conclusions could form the foundation for developing evidence-based recommendations for individualized exercise programs that alleviate depression in older adults. On the other hand, by revealing research gaps, the review results could encourage the formulation of research questions for further RCTs. Context: The level of body awareness, performance emotional status and demographic characteristics in different sports branches are subjects to be investigated. It is important to examine the concepts of performance emotional state and body awareness to better understand the body-mind relationship in different sports branches. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the level of body awareness and performance emotional status (PES) of athletes. Design: In this cross-sectional study, independent variables are groups (4 sports branches) and dependent variables are body awareness and performance emotional status. Participants: The study was conducted on 188 licensed athletes (85 footballers, 36 basketball players, 34 handball players and 33 swimmers). The mean age of participants was 14.64±1.89 years, height was 172.44±11.03cm and body weight was 62.35±13.12 kg. Settings: Four sports clubs and 2 high schools were the intervention facilities. Intervention: Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ) and Continuous Optimal Performance Emotional Status Scale-2(COPESS-2) were used for data collection. Sociodemographic information was recorded. Main Outcome Measures: One-way ANOVA was used for analysis of normal distribution data in four different groups, and the Kruskal Wallis test was used for the analysis of data that did not show normal distribution. Results: There was no difference in body awareness among the branches (p=0.171). The performance emotional state (PES) of the footballers was better than that of other athletes (p=0.01). The correlation between body awareness and PES was medium (r=0.47, p<0.01) and the corelations between body awareness and age, licensed year and number of weekly training sessions were weak (r=0.22, p<0.01; r=0.19, p<0.01; r=0.15, p=0.03). Conclusions: The body awareness of athletes may not differ among the sports branches, but PES is related to many factors such as mood, age, license years and number of training sessions. Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationships between elite athletes' imagery abilities and their body awareness, plank stance duration, psychological and social skills. Material and Methods: The study included 53 healthy elite athletes (female:32, male:21). The imagery abilities of the athletes were evaluated using the Movement Imagery Questionnaire-3. A Body Awareness Questionnaire was used for body awareness assessment. Plank stance duration, psychological and social skill levels were evaluated using Sport Specific Core Muscle Strength and Stability Plank Test, Athletic Psychological Skills Inventory and Social Skills Inventory, respectively. Results: External and kinesthetic imagery was found to correlate with body awareness (r=0.33, p=0.02; r=0.39, p<0.01). There was a relationship between these imagery abilities and the prediction of body responses (r=0.31, p=0.03; r=0.38, p<0.01) and sleep-wake cycle (r=0.38, p<0.01; r=0.37, p<0.01) subdimensions of body awareness. Kinesthetic imagery also was associated with changes in paying attention to changes and reactions in the body process (r=0.30, p=0.03) sub-dimension. There was no relationship between imagery and other parameters (p>0.05). Conclusion: The external and kinesthetic imagery ability of elite athletes is related to the body awareness level. The purpose of the study was to show the effects of drug management, home arrangements, and exercise combined program on falling and quality of life in older adults. The multidisiplinary study was conducted with 41 participants aged 65-74 years registered with three Family Health Centers. A combined program which consist of drug management, home arrangements, and exercise program was applied them individually for six months. Data were collected by self-report using a Sociodemographic Form, Domestic Environmental Risk Factors of Falling Form, Fall Risk Assessment Scale, SF-36 Quality of Life Scale, and Follow-up Form. The mean age of the participants was 69.1 ± 3.1 years, and were (F/M:37/4). After three and six months the domestic environmental risk factors of falling, fall numbers, risk and SF-36 quality of life subscales decreased significantly compared to baseline assessment (p<.05). Determining the activity and participation level of children has an important place in the planning and development of their activities at home, school and social areas. Activity and participation assessment tools developed for pediatric population are widely used all over the world and many of them have been adapted into Turkish. According to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, Children and Youth Version, activity and participation are evaluated with sub-di mensions such as gross motor functions, upper extremity functions, level of independence in activities of daily living, balance, walking, timed performance and functional independence level. In this context, it is very important to use valid and reliable tools for monitoring the development of children and determining treatment goals. When the re lated literature is examined, it is noteworthy that there are few Turkish-adapted forms of the tools that evaluate gross motor function, balance, gait, and quality of life. It is seen that Turkish measurement tools evaluating upper extremity functions are in the majority, but there are limited numbers of physical activity and physical activity measurements, mostly made with observational and experimental methods. The fact that the instructions of the balance scales were long increased the need for Turkish adaptation. Access to languageadapted measurement tools has become even more impor tant with the increasing need for evaluating the level of activity and participation. The use of scales without language adaptation may be insufficient to obtain objective results. In this respect, having detailed information about the Turkish-adapted tools that measure the level of activity and participa tion in children will make a significant contribution to clinicians and academics working in the field of pediatrics. Our aim was to perform the Turkish-language adaptation of a practical ataxia rating scale for children. The Brief Ataxia Rating Scale was subjected to cultural adaptation following receipt of the requisite permissions. Thirty-six children aged 4–18 years followed-up with a diagnosis of ataxia were included in the study. Evaluation of each child was recorded on video. The video recordings were scored independently by nine observers (four physiotherapists, one pediatric neurologist, and four pediatricians). Intra-rater reliability was tested by the same video images being scored twice, at 15-day intervals, by a pediatric neurologist. Intraclass correlation coefficients were used for inter-rater and intra-rater reliability. The Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia was used for concurrent validity. Good to excellent reliability was determined among the nine observers in terms of total scores with the intraclass correlation coefficient among the nine observers (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.926; 95% CI: 0.885–0.956). Intra-rater reliability analysis results exhibited strong reliability in terms of scores elicited at two-week intervals (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.967; 95% CI: 0.890–0.987, r = 0.97, p < 0.001). At concurrent validity analysis, a strong relation was determined between total Scale of the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia score and total Brief Ataxia Rating Scale score (r = 0.942, p < 0.001). The Turkish-language adaptation of the Brief Ataxia Rating Scale is reliable and valid for application in children. This study shows the reliability and validity of the Turkish language adaptation of brief ataxia rating scale in children. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of combined drug management and an exercise program on symptoms and the happiness levels of elderly women people living at home. This interventional study included a total of 35 women, aged 65 to 74 years, who were registered at the Family Healthcare Centre. A 14-week program was combined with exercise and drug management. Pre-test and post-test evaluations results were recorded. The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale (ESAS), Oxford Happiness Questionnaire-Short Form (OHQ-SF) and a sociodemographic form and Follow-Up form were used for data collection. The mean ESAS points of the symptoms of pain, tiredness, sadness, and insomnia showed a significant decrease after intervention and the sense of well-being improved (p <.001). A statistically significant increase was determined in the happiness levels of the participants after intervention. The combined program of drug management and exercise was found to be effective in raising happiness levels and reducing symptoms in elderly women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives. Myofascial pain syndrome is a common problem decreasing physical functioning, emotional status, and social participating. It also affects quality of life of individual suffering from myofascial pain syndrome. The aim of the study was to show the effectiveness and contribution of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in physical therapy in myofascial pain syndrome. Materal and Methods. Randomized controlled study design. Twenty two patients (F/M:17/5) with myofascial pain syndrome were included. They were randomly divided into two groups (study and control). The experimental group applied IASTM with conventional physiotherapy program, the control group was followed by only a conventional physiotherapy program without any manual intervention. Visual pain scale, neck and shoulder joint range of motion, pain pressure threshold, Neck Pain and Disability Index, Beck Depression Inventory, Center of Disease Control Health-Related Quality of Life were used for data collection. Results. The mean age participants was 36.86±10.28 years. In study group, there was a significant difference after intervention according to preintervention in all measurements. In control group there was a difference in just neck and shoulder range of motion(p<0.05). In the study group, development was found meaningfully more than the control group in quality of life parameter, item 3 (number of days good at emotional health), depression score, disability score, pain severity, neck lateral flexion and pain pressure threshold(p<0.05). In myofascial pain syndrome, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization could be an effective treatment technic in quality of life, emotional status, pain severity, functional status and range of motion. BACKGROUND: Patient satisfaction is a key point in evaluating the quality of physiotherapy services. OBJECIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the Turkish language validity and reliability of the Patient Satisfaction Scale in Physiotherapy (PSSP). METHODS: The study included 168 participants, aged 18–74 years, with musculoskeletal pain. The PSSP, which comprises 14 items in the four sub-dimensions of treatment, admission, logistics and general satisfaction, was applied to all participants. Structural validity was assessed using the principal components method with varimax rotation. Internal consistency and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were used for the reliability analysis. The Patient Satisfaction Scale for Physical Therapy Outpatient Clinics (PCCPTO) was used to assess concurrent validity. RESULTS: The participants comprised of 71% females and 29% males with a mean age of 41.9 ± 14.9 years. The sampling competency index was 0.874. The Turkish version of the scale was found to be perfectly reliable (Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient = 0.922). Internal consistency ranged from 0.762 to 0.904 in the subscales. Factor analysis revealed that the 14-item scale had four factors explaining 75.59% of the total variance. Floor and ceiling effects were not determined. Concurrent validity analysis showed a strong correlation between the PSSP and PCCPTO (r = 0.78; p < 0.0005). Purpose: This study was planned to examine the effects of exercise on quality of life, body awareness, kinesiophobia and falling risk among young older adults. Materials and Methods: The study was performed with 74 participants (aged between 65-74) in Trabzon. Age, gender, body mass index, educational status, family structure, living with people and chronic illness were all included in the sociodemographic data form.They were divided into two groups: one exercised group of 36 people (group I) and non-exercised of 38 subjects (group II). A 12-week exercise program was applied to the study group. The SF-36 Quality of Life Questionnaire was used to evaluate the quality of life, the Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ) for comparing awareness conditions, the Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TSK-11) for the perception of kinesiophobia, and the Denn Falling Risk Scale (DENN) to determine falling risk level. Results: The mean age of the participants was 69.45 years. There were differences in terms of quality of life in all subscales between two groups. While there was a corelation between quality of life, body awareness and falling fisk in exercise group, there was no corelation in non-exercise group. There was a positive correlation between falling risk and kinesophobia in two groups. There was a negative correlation between falling risk and body awareness in exercise group. Conclusion: The presence of positive effects on the quality of life and body awareness in the older adults will shed light on planning geriatric rehabilitation programs for health professions. Background: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between body awareness, pain, emotional status, and quality of life among healthy people. Methods: In the study, 100 healthy volunteers aged 20-40 years were evaluated. A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to describe pain intensity. To determine the emotional status of the subjects, the Beck Depression Inventory was used. The Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ) was used to evaluate body awareness status, and the SF-36 survey was used to evaluate quality of life. Results: The mean age of the participants was 36.88±10.45 years. The mean of pain intensity was 3.32±2.90. The mean of the scores of emotional status was 8.54±7.77, and the mean of the scores of the BAQ was 94.77±13.97. There was a negative correlation between VAS and BAQ. The BAQ scores showed a negative correlation with emotional status, but the correlation was not statistically significant, due to the fact that all participants had depressive symptoms at a minimal level (p=0.264). BAQ scores were showed a positive correlation with some subscales of SF-36 including energy level (p=0.001) and general health perceptions (p=0.023). Conclusion: This study has showed that the level of body awareness has positive effects on quality of life. Aim and scop. The aim of this study was to compare the level of medial longitudinal arch drop, ankle joint range of motion and extension of the hallux in males and females and to correlate these values with body mass index. Material and Method. One hundred sixty-three medical faculty students, 74 female and 89 male, aged between 18 and 26 (20.37±1.432), were included in the study. Level of medial longitudinal arch drop, dorsiflexion and plantar flexion of the ankle and extension of the hallux were measured. Body mass index was assessed on the basis of World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. Results. The difference between males and females in terms of plantar flexion of the ankle (PFA), dorsiflexion of the ankle (DFA), extension of the hallux (EH) and level of navicular drop (ND), was statistically significant (pPFA=0.000, pDFA=0.003, pEH:0.043, pND=0.000). Medial arch drop was greater in individuals with a higher than normal weight in males and in total subjects (pmale ND= 0.007, ptotal ND= 0.001). Conclusion. Our determination of statistically significant differences between the sexes is important in revealing anatomical differences in terms of ankle, hallux and medial arch structures. This study aims to investigate healthy lifestyle behaviors and the quality of life of lecturers working in different scientific fields. The study included 491 lecturers working at KTU. "Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale (HLBS) II" and "Centers for Disease Control Health Quality of Life Survey were used in the study. It was found that the HLBS score was higher and significantly different from those working in the field of health sciences (p=0.024). It was seen that there was a significant difference between health sciences and social sciences in terms of spiritual development (p=0.001), stress management (p=0.009) and interpersonal relations (p=0.016) between health sciences and natural sciences. It was found that the CDC-HRQOL-4 mental health scores of those working in the field of natural sciences differed significantly with those working in the field of health sciences according to their fields of science (p=0.07). It is emphasized that the fact that the teaching staff have different HLBS and QoL levels in different fields may cause changes in the lifestyles of people in the fields of science.
